Protest: ‘Yahoo Boys’ On Smear Campaign, EFCC Reacts The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has reacted to protests by some youths who accused the anti-graft agency of extortion and illegal house searches. The anti-graft agency in a post via its verified Twitter handle on Thursday, restated the EFCC’s commitment to locate, arrest and investigate anyone causing economic unrest. The PUNCH reported that some youths gathered in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, to protest, asking for the scrapping of the EFCC. The protesters were seen holding banners, some of which read, “Enough of the extortion from EFCC,” and “End EFCC,” among others. https://punchng.com/protest-yahoo-boys-on-smear-campaign-efcc-reacts/?amp

Woman Gives Birth Aboard American Airlines Flight & Place of Birth Listed as 'in the Air' When you're pregnant and labor starts unexpectedly , it can be stressful and sometimes scary. If your baby comes early , you could be caught entirely off guard, and it might be in the most inconvenient of places. It seems like we hear about it all the time — a woman delivers her baby at home or in the car on the way to the hospital. But how about having your baby aboard an airplane on an international flight? Not so typical. Connecticut mom Kendra Rhoden just lived through that exact experience. Her water broke when she was mid-flight between the US and the Dominican Republic. The baby arrived early: Rhoden traveled to the Dominican Republic when she was about 34 weeks pregnant. She was presumably cleared by her doctor, as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention states it is safe to travel until the 36th week of pregnancy. Her baby ended up coming early, though. He was born in early September , six weeks before Rhoden's October 23 due date, according to WFSB. Labor came on suddenly. Rhoden was sleeping on the plane when she felt a kick, and her water broke. Thankfully, nurses were on board who could assist in the delivery, which Rhoden said came on fast. "Everything just happened so fast, it just happened so quick," Rhoden told WFSB. She said that nurses told her not to push, but there was no time for that. "I'm like 'The [baby's] coming!'" A momma knows when a momma knows, and Rhoden was sure it was time. Rhoden's sister has kept followers updated about her story. In a series of TikTok videos, Rhoden's sister, known as @pinkangel876 on the social media platform, has updated followers on Rhoden and her son. She visited her sister in the hospital in the Dominican Republic, and the new mom shared a bit of her experience. One video was posted in late September, and at the time, Rhoden and her son were recovering in the Dominican Republic. She shared answers to what she said are the most asked questions she's gotten. She revealed that the baby's name is Skylen, and he is a US citizen. On his US birth certificate, Sklyen's place of birth is listed as "in the air." Rhoden is now home safe and healthy in the US. Rhoden made her way back to Connecticut after spending several weeks in the Dominican Republic. WFSB reported that they faced some difficulties, but Skylen and his mom are doing well now. He is in the hospital being evaluated. "I feel good now because I'm home and he's safe, he's where he needs to be right now," Rhoden told the news outlet. "So, I would say I'm happier than I was in the Dominican Republic." Rhoden is not the first woman to give birth mid-air. Believe it or not, baby Skylen isn't the first baby to be born during a flight. He's not even the first this year. In early 2022, a woman gave birth to a baby during a flight from Ghana to the US. Then in May, another mother gave birth during a Frontier Airlines flight. The CDC warns that mothers need to be aware when traveling, always plan for the unexpected, and be sure to have all trips approved by a doctor. "Make an appointment with your healthcare provider or a travel health specialist at least one month before you leave. They can help you get destination-specific vaccines, medicines, and information," the CDC recommends on its website. "Discussing health concerns as well as your itinerary and planned activities with your provider allows them to give more specific advice and recommendations ." https://cafemom.com/news/woman-gives-birth-aboard-american-airlines-flight

London, Lagos, Kaduna, rallies: Peter Obi successfully disrupted Nigerian politics – Omokri admits Reno Omokri, a socio-political activist and staunch supporter of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar has admitted that anyone who belittles the supporters of Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, known as Obidients, is not politically astute. Omokri, a major critic of the LP candidate stated this while commending the Obidients over their rallies in several parts of the country and London, United Kingdom on Saturday. DAILY POST reports that thousands of Nigerians on the Independent Day, staged rallies for the Labour Party candidate in several parts of the Nation. Kaduna, Bauchi, Edo, and many parts of Lagos State, including Festac, Lekki, Ajegunle were shut down on Saturday by Obi supporters who are predominantly youths. Reacting, the former presidential aide said in a post on his verified social media handles that Peter Obi has successfully disrupted politics in the country. According to him, “The simultaneous Obidient rallies at Festac, Amuwo, Lekki, Kaduna, and other towns and cities across Nigeria, was AMAZING. “They are a great achievement and anyone who tries to belittle them is not politically astute. It is not just the sheer number of attendees. Imagine the logistics behind organising people at different ends of the nation. Commendable. Very commendable. “While Obi will not win in 2023, he has successfully disrupted politics in Nigeria. Take Kaduna state. On August 15, 2022, Nasir El-Rufai boasted that Obi won’t get “two hundred persons on the street. “Today, we saw close to 2000. Yes, a lot of them are persons of Southeastern origins. But for one man’s ambition to mobilise them in such mesmerising numbers is something to be admired. Politics without bitterness should be encouraged”. https://dailypost.ng/2022/10/02/london-lagos-kaduna-rallies-peter-obi-successfully-disrupted-nigerian-politics-omokri-admits/?amp=1

APC, PDP Exceeded Campaign Spending Limit – INEC The All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party are among the parties that are yet to submit their audit reports from the last general election. The two major parties also ran afoul of campaign expenditures as they were said to have exceeded the N1bn ceiling set by the Electoral Act. However, the Independent National Electoral Commission said it had prepared forms that would make the process easier to track expenditures and had also trained auditors from the registered political parties. The commission’s Director, Elections and Party Monitoring, Aminu Idris, disclosed this on Tuesday in Lagos at the two-day capacity-building workshop for journalists on critical issues in the Electoral Act, 2022 and the Commission’s Processes, Innovations, Preparations for the 2023 General Election. Idris said only 34 political parties out of the 91 registered parties that participated in the 2019 elections have submitted their audit reports. Among the 34 however, only nine met the full requirements of submitting audit reports accompanied by an affidavit. He said, “In the 2019 general election, we tracked election expenses and we have a report of that. In 2023, we will go through this process. “The commission tracks expenditure for general elections. In the last report we did, we had some figures from the presidential election of the two major parties. We remember that then, the maximum limit was N1bn and what we had based on our tracking across the country was N4.6bn and N3.3bn. What we tracked were about four items namely billboards, print media advertisements, electronic media advertisements and coverage/programmes.” On the audit report, Idris said, “In the 2019 election based on requirements for auditing reporting, 91 political parties participated and about 34 submitted reports of expenditure. “But even among the 34, there were issues of compliance with the reports. Out of the 34, only nine fully complied with submitting a report with an affidavit. The commission is already auditing the accounts of political parties over the last five years; 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021.” When asked if the major parties were part of the 34 that had submitted their audit report, he simply said “In the list of the 34 political parties that submitted audit reports for the 2019 election, the major parties were not among.” All efforts made to reach the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, for reaction proved abortive. As of the time of filing this report, he neither answered nor replied to the text message sent to him for clarification Meanwhile, the Electoral Institute of INEC gave an estimated breakdown of some of the 1.4 million ad-hoc staff members to be trained ahead of the 2023 general elections. The institute’s Director-General, Sa’ad Idris, said, “We will train about 17,685 supervising presiding officers; 707,384 presiding officers/assistants presiding officers; 11,083 collation officers; 12,991 registration area technical officers; 20,000 security officers and 6,009 registration area centres managers.” https://punchng.com/apc-pdp-exceeded-campaign-spending-limit-inec/?amp

Christianity quickly diminishing in US, on pace to become minority religion in decades -Research Study Jon Brown, Fox News, Christianity quickly diminishing in US, on pace to become minority religion in decades. A recently released study suggests the number of Christians in the U.S. is diminishing quickly and being replaced by those who do not identify with any religion. A new report by Pew Research Center and the General Social Survey published Tuesday found a surge of adults leaving Christianity to become atheist, agnostic or “nothing in particular.” It predicted that if the number of Christians under 30 abandoning their faith accelerates beyond the current pace, adherents of the historically dominant religion of the U.S. could become a minority by 2045. Noting how approximately 90% of Americans identified as Christians in the early 1990s, the study observed that number, which includes children, had fallen to only 64% by 2020. The number of people in the U.S. who identify as religiously unaffiliated, meanwhile, skyrocketed from 16% in 2007 to 29% in 2020, the research showed. Other religions such as Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism, accounted for approximately 6%. The study presented four hypothetical scenarios by which the U.S. religious landscape could change in the coming decades. In one scenario, researchers analyzed the potential impact of young Christian adults abandoning their faith and switching affiliation without limitation. The other three scenarios hypothesize other types of increasing religious disaffiliation , but “they all show Christians continuing to shrink as a share of the U.S. population, even under the counterfactual assumption that all switching came to a complete stop in 2020.” All four scenarios project swelling ranks among the religiously unaffiliated, or “nones,” throughout the next half-century. The only scenario that projects Christians maintaining a majority in the U.S. through 2070 is if no one changes their religious affiliation after 2020. “Of course, it is possible that events outside the study's model — such as war, economic depression, climate crisis, changing immigration patterns or religious innovations — could reverse current religious switching trends, leading to a revival of Christianity in the United States,” the study said. “But there are no current switching patterns in the U.S. that can be factored into the mathematical models to project such a result.” The study’s data showed that while more older Americans are remaining identified with Christianity, many younger adults are increasingly switching to “nones.” “If the pace of switching before the age of 30 were to speed up throughout the projection period without any brakes, Christians would no longer be a majority by 2045,” Pew researchers noted. In such a scenario, the number of religiously unaffiliated would stand at 52% and the number of Christians dip to 35% by 2070. “Switching has not ended and there is no reason to think it will come to an abrupt stop,” the researchers said, adding, “Still, if fewer future young adults switch from Christianity to no affiliation, or if movement in the opposite direction increases, the future religious landscape might resemble the results of this projection.” The researchers predicted based on recent generational trends that the most likely scenario among their hypotheticals is Christianity declining but still remaining capped at 50%. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DMjPwIdd9NjQ&ved=2ahUKEwio2f_Ru7f6AhVLhv0HHWBLDbQQFnoECAgQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0NvPAlzMkG1HzfeEbWO2V-
