Generally, human wants are insatiable. Logically, no human should be complacent with their status for more than 2-3 years, that's why promotion is done within that time frame.
I have a family friend who started with Ministry of Defense, she left there to Fire Service and later to ICPC. We haven't spoken in 6 years but my best guess is that she is most likely not in ICPC anymore. Hunger for growth and better opportunities is an intrinsic trait of intelligent people. Na why Dangote still dey build petroleum refinery.
That is why Dr. Betta Edu will now be a Minister at 36, after being a Commissioner for Health and APC National Women Leader.
When I got my 1st Federal appointment, I was so excited. Having taught in a private secondary school with a monthly salary of N20,000. It felt surreal to get a permanent job of N56,000 monthly (1USD wasn't up to N300 then) . It felt like an improvement. Mind you, I had a MSc.
One year down the line, redundancy and rising cost of living started eating me up. I wasn't learning anything new as the agency I worked with was more like a refuse bin. Even the MSc holders did same work with the SSCE holders and you must return home dirty everyday. Gradually, a lot of my colleagues who either had degrees from prestigious universities a road or had the right connections moved to sister agencies with better pay and working conditions. I began to get really uncomfortable. All the promises of a new salary structure and better condition of services seemed like a mirage. Mind you, there are a lot of my former colleagues who have resigned to fate and have remained there. Many of them have not being able to contribute up to N800,000 in pensions for over 6 years.
I started hustling to leave. I would skip work several times in a week going from one politicians office to another, submitting CV from one office to another. I would give my direct supervisor up to 10% of my monthly salary just for him to cover me up during my absence. He was happy, I was happy. We were all happy.
Fortunately, I got another offer in another government agency with an 85% increment in the salary. I ported. After 3 years, I saw people leaving either to relocate abroad or to even better agencies. I wasn't ungrateful but I wanted growth. Yeah, salary is better here but my course of study is a major disadvantage as I rise up the ladder. My chances of becoming a director in this agency is slim. I started dropping CVs again, this time with less pressure. I was specific about relevance of discipline, career growth and remuneration still. Coincidentally, I met a man at a very unlikely place in Abuja,we got talking. I told him my level, my discipline and my work experience. He was impressed that I didn't feel too comfortable at my current position. He helped into agency where my discipline is very relevant, career growth is assured and remuneration is better than than the last 2 agencies.

Am I satisfied? No. LOL.

I am 'eyeing' the HSE department of NUPRC, NMDPRA or the marine environmental department of NIMASA. If I get that today, will I be satisfied? LOL, no still.

I want to contest for either House of Assembly or House of Representatives under the APC in 2027. I want to become the Chairman, House Committee on Environment or at least an SA/Commissioner to the President/Governor of my state on Environment very soon.

Just last 3 weeks ago, I saw (not I was told) people resigning from CBN, BPP, DSS (serving in State House), NSIA, TCN and few other Grade A agencies into this particular agency of government with very "too good to be true" package. My wife left EFCC to another place. LOL

Even to be a graduate alone is someone's prayer point, will u now as a graduate be contempted and not look for a job because u have achieved someone else's dream? Definitely no.
But then in our quest for more let's try not to get desperate(there should be gratitude and moderation). Desperation is like the 'love of money', it's a sister root of all evil. Moreso never tie your happiness to your wants, u know why; since human wants is insatiable u will never be happy in life. Be happy at least for the things you have received while working and praying for more.

If u are already married and think it's safer for ur wife not to know ur salary na u sabi her pass us, do what will save ur home. If u ain't married yet I think it's better to settle with someone u can relate with on all level. Marriage na team work no be competition on who wise pass between husband and wife.

Looking at it from another perspective, if u hide the figure from this kind of woman and she comes to this forum to ask and gets an overated figure as usual. Like ur salary is 120k and someone here says it's 450k. And then u are managing ur family according to ur level of 120k per month. Do u know u have created a bigger problem in ur home coz she will think u have one side chick u are spending on at the expense of ur own family and that's the genesis of trouble in marriages.

I am not a fan of those that hide their pay slip from their spouse. My children knew my pay, when I was teaching in a private school, let alone my spouse.

People should learn to be diplomatic

Your intention may not be bad but the presentation was kinda wrong. Now the huge question is did ICPC officially release a cut off mark for the 1st test? Or u assumed. And just to add the criteria for selection is most times complex....it involves but not limited to state of origin(federal character), course of study and gender. If they intend to take 6persons from each state and u score 10 in a state where nobody scored 10 u will be shortlisted against someone with 23 from a state where more than 5persons scored 24. Again if the gender distribution is 4;2 for the 6persons and u are the highest scoring female with 15 u will be shortlisted against a guy from ur state with 20 and so on. Lastly it's not the guy's duty to shortlist, reason he referred u to the ICPC HQ which is responsible for shortlisting. His duty is to sit for the exam and make himself available if invited for the interview which he did. Or are u saying he should have disqualified himself and refuse to sit for the 2nd test?

All u do base on ur writing is u read in the book, not someone who had time to go towards HR... HR cannot swap ur letter fr free unless na ur brother or ur tight relative who can't play u is sitting there... I used a lawyer because of my parole with one, he may use any means, he so like.. Just try to hv a case with a lawyer, then u will know they're like the Police who can turn white to brown.. They can frame u wen u least expected. Argue to bring a point, not voiding, that's how to show maturity.

Since u ain't working currently maybe u should take the offer pending when u get a better offer that befits ur academic level. Luckily it's civil defence and most times they are less busy so the salary can just be like an allowance for u while u run ur masters and when u finally get a better offer u can resign and take it. But u must be humble enough to take orders from people u are higher than academically and not take it to heart bcoz that's going to be ur reality until something better comes up. Aspa upgrading u in the same civil defence no give urself that hope o just see it as something to keep body and soul 2geda 4d moment. Good luck sir

u want to scare a whole HR of an agency with a lawyer bcoz he/she hasn't seen one before when in reality most HRM are senior lawyers. The guy was 100% correct. It's not your right, by the organization's law they ought to be nothing like apl swapping. If they decide to grant u then it's a privilege u should knee down and appreciate and not a right u can fight for. So if an agency conducted test and interview then issue apl to an applicant, u will now come with the apl for swapping bcoz the original owner gave u his brain with the apl. And mind u agencies usually issue apl based on available vacancy, so if they needed an accountant and issue apl to an accountant who later got another job, then someone with probably a bsc in political science will come up with the apl for swapping. If any decisive HR sees u with a lawyer coming to ask for apl swapping that will be the end of the road 4ur pursuit of job in that agency and there's nothing any lawyer abi na SAN can do about it.

90%+ of the people that pay for job slots end up not getting the job. Your surest plug will be to pray for a good connection. The right connection most times will be too blessed to need your money and even if there's a middleman that will want to get paid he will be afraid of anything that will tarnish his image with the connect and will most times require your token after the job is secured. All these people that will ask for payment first, be careful with them, most of them are unemployed themselves and those of them that are employed are looking for money for side hustle, they will invest your money in a business and use the profit to pay you back instalmentally thats if they will pay u back. So like I said earlier pray for the right connection you will not need to pay a dime. My little advice though.

My CV submitted to Aviation Ministry via a connect. I learnt that under the MINISTRY, following agencies exist
1.NCAA
2 FAAN
3 NAMA
4 AIB
5 NImet

NAMA hopeful COLLECTED APL, am yet to be contacted. My question is that "as a graduate holds B. ENG COMPUTER ENGINEERING, which of the above agencies suited to offered APL."

I'm sorry take u away from what u asked but the aviation ministry DOES NOT recruit for any of the agencies listed above despite the agencies been under d ministry. Each of the agencies has a DG and a HR department that handles its recruitment. Sadly the ministry of aviation only recruit junior staff for itself, the recruitment of senior staff into the ministry of aviation is done by the FCSC. Your connect should have submitted ur CV DIRECTLY to one or more of the agencies u listed except of course he submitted it to the office of the MINISTER or maybe the perm sec who should have atleast a slot in each of the agencies. But if the CV was submitted to the HR dept of the ministry it might be in the wrong place coz the ministry does not recruit for the agencies. Aspa which suits u, with ur descipline u are good to go with any of them. Goodluck.
