Your post is senseless. Nothing in my post talked about our population's comparative (dis)advantage. You just came here to speak big grammar and made no point. There is a thin-line between complaints and self-denigration, what Nigerians practice is the latter. Like I said, travel and see.
You're just an ostrich who prefers to hide his head in the sand. Even Americans that seem to have it all still complain about their system every now and then because they don't want to rest on their laurels yet you that is living in a country where you are virtually denied all the good things of life that ought to be taken for granted, would prefer to sugar-coat your sorry situation. But while you're giving excuses for your sad state still have it in mind that the rest of the world won't wait for you.

Have you been to Cameroun? I have visited Rwanda several times. While I admit it is a very progressive nation, its progress is somewhat exaggerated. Outside of Kigali, Rwanda is at best glorified Jigawa State. Ask anyone who has visited the country, don't assume.
With people like you trying to defend or justify the rot and disgrace Nigeria has become, then salvation is still a million miles away! You can only begin to make a change for the better when you truly accept that there is a problem. Nigeria is even worse off than is being depicted. Did you know that majority of African countries and rest of the world enjoy constant and uninterrupted power supply?? Your universities have been on strike for several months now, and just because the presidential election is a few days away, they decided to suspend it, now emphasis is on SUSPEND and not even call-off!! Can you travel a few kilometers on your inter state roads without wondering if you are driving through an earthquake ravaged region?? What is the unemployment situation?? So, even becoming the poverty capital of the world is not something to be ashamed of?? Even your apology of a president whom some of you are still going to vote for despite all his failures, can buhari be compared to the leaders of other progressive African countries like Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda etc in terms of qualifications and intellect?? What is your security situation?? At the rate your country is going, can it ever develop even in a hundred years time?? When it suits you guys, you claim that Nigeria's population is what is hindering it from developing at a optimal rate yet you all still fail to acknowledge that China, India, Brazil, United States etc are a lot more populated than Nigeria and have all turned their population size into a big advantage while you see yours as an obstacle. Please stop trying to defend Nigeria's worthlessness or blame those who are intelligent enough to complain about it, rather join them in condemning the situation because it is only when there is a consensus anger from the populace that your wicked leaders will become uncomfortable in their comfort zones.
Nigeria is today an embarrassment to Africa and the entire black race when it should have been a shining light considering its enormous potentials.

Owerri is gradually becoming an international city where people from different parts of the world could feel at home. With such restaurants opening in the city, foreigners working in the oil industry will be flocking into Owerri and coupled with the serenity, with time, many of them will start settling too and the economy will continue to receive a boost.

my friend sherup. Am from Rivers state but most weekends I spend it in owerri just like most of my friends. Owerri is a relaxation and hospitality city just like Miami, las Vegas of this world. The city is quit seren and beautiful with cool spots for your entertainment.
Do you know that just an average hotel/casino there makes over ten million naira a month. Do you know how many of such are there and more that are currently springing up? That means billions to the government. Do you know that las Vegas make more many in hospitality industry than Nigeria make in oil?
Again IMO is an oil and gas producing state. Their are a lot of multinationals and indigenous oil n gas firm that means billions in igr for the state. In fact IMO has one of the biggest state economy in Nigeria. It is the Fifth largest economy (do a little Google search)
The economy is even expanding as real estate has become the next biggest thing in the state
Please ignore that frustrated and ignorant bingo. He continues to rant senselessly up and down looking for attention. Imo is the fifth largest economy in Nigeria but how will he know that when all he does is to say nonsense and sleep on Nairaland. Tourism and hospitality, real estate etc is booming in Owerri and rich guys from P.h, Aba, Onitsha and other cities around like to come to Owerri to relax and spend their money which is partly the reason why things are relatively expensive in Owerri than other cities in the East except P.H.

Abuja is controlled by the APC, yeebos can't be dictating who and where the APC can campaign in Abuja, they can only try the rubbish in Igbo land.

I support the APC thug.

1million is much for 7days, but it would be good you take it along so you can explore more on your needs.

Brother, just take emirate direct so you don't have to take another bus from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, as you would be needing bus card and too many directives from people; if only you want to take cab which might be very expensive.

As for the hotel. I will suggest you book apartment- hotel, where there would be kitchen so your wife can always cook for you Inside the house, instead of eating junkies; plus it's more spacious and homely.

Cheers man
It's really encouraging to hear that a million naira is more than enough for 2 individuals on a 7 days trip. However, does it mean that tourists are exempted from having BTA with them?

ok...7 days visa shouldn't be more than 50-70k,and regarding hotels i advice u check online maybe bookings.com or hotels.com and its better u book online and make payment, way cheaper than payment on arrival, hotels are usually very costly on weekends from Wednesday cause our weekends starts on Thursdays.
Getting a visa shouldn't be an issue ,am not sure they dont use dat age criteria again, see many girls here on tourist way younger than 30,as for your flight i advice Kenya,Rwanda,or even Egypt if you dont mind the stop overs and these options are way cheaper than emirates n etihad...
Wow, 50-70k for visa is quite affordable I.e 140k for two at most. But since they don't have embassy here in Nigeria, can I apply for visa through airlines such as Kenya Egypt? I wouldn't mind the stop overs at all (would even prefer it so I can have a glimpse of those places as well).
About the age, that won't be an issue to me even if the policy is still in place because I'm now way older than 30. When I visited Churchgate was 2013.
Thanks for your information.

Yes now... 1m...depends on a few things tho....
Lenght of stay...3months... A month or a week..
Choice of hotel... Main town somewhere around business Bay.... Or cheaper options at Deira...
It all depends on u...
Since it's just a honeymoon for two, I wouldn't stay more than a week. I wouldn't mind a cheap but decent hotel accommodation and also be able to buy a few things. The last time I made enquiries years back at Churchgate towers, I gleaned that Emirates airlines and Etihad airways work as the defacto embassy for UAE in Nigeria and they were denying Nigerians below 30 years then visa.
Can you help me with the cost of visa for 7 days, flight cost (cheap airlines I can use because I discovered then that Emirates was expensive but while Etihad was cheaper, their final stop is Abu Dhabi while bus conveys passengers by road to Dubai). And finally, how much cheap hotel rooms can go for. Thanks for your help.

Exchange rate as of today na 98...but agents keep using 100... When u get here dey tell u pls u overtime u make 150k...
Good luck brother
Bro, you seem to be in the know about how these visa things to Dubai works. Can one million naira cover all expenses for a honey moon in Dubai, including visa, flight and hotel accommodation??

Noise, filth bad roads, agberos and general lawlessness everywhere....Its insane!

Dont evn get me started on their below-standards accommocation with layers and layers of hungry folks masquerading as Estate Agents..

Unlike serene, clean Abuja with very decent accomodation,Lagos is an eye-sore...You will pay for a substandard 3 bedroom flat for 1million and pay agency of 580,000 Naira! shocked

This is because miscreants attach themselves to genuine Agents and expect to be paid the stipulated 10%agency and 10%Lawyer fees like the genuine Agents...as well as caution fees.e..t.c...and Lagosians are okay with that,so much for their 'open eye'

The houses nko?..eye-sore upon eye-sore

Seriously working my transfer back to my Abuja and my nice accommodation in Area 11 Garkii abeg..I cant deal with this crappy Lagos for much longer

Abuja is bae..no contest! cool
You're absolutely on point. I was living in Lagos until I had to tell myself the home truth that this so called centre of excellence is nothing but a typical Hobbesian society! People having to wake up as early as 4am in the morning, waste several man-hours on traffic and still return home as late as 11pm in the night! I really pity those who are unfortunate to be passing through such lifestyle in Lagos. Abuja, Owerri, Enugu and Calabar are the only decent cities I can reside in Nigeria. I can't live in Lagos, no matter what.

They would instantly impeach him talk more of allowing him to go for reelection. You can't be so sure. Mark my words today and refer to this post from 2019, if buhari returns either by hook or crook, the menace of herdsmen killings will go out of hand, and this time it's not just the middle belt that will bear the brunt, states in the SS, SE and SW will come under serious attack. And you know what, there is nothing you could do about it because the military will give them cover and if you try to retaliate, the same military will invade your community and disarm everyone!! If you prove too stubborn, the same military will be used to kill the youths under the code name of Python dance. I really pity the middle belt and all Southerners should buhari return. The kind of crises Nigeria will face will be unprecedented and places like Ghana will look like heaven to those that would be unfortunate to be in Nigeria under Buhari post 2019.

hisexcellency34:
That can't work. If Igbos won't give Atiku support, who will they give?

That is the problem, Nnamdi Kanu does not want anything to do with Nigeria or its election, and he knows that a win for Atiku will stabilize the polity and probably reposition Nigeria which will be inimical to Biafra's actualization, this is because, the more prosperous and comfortable Nigeria and its citizens are, the less Igbos or others will demand for separation. With Buhari, Nigeria will continue to hover on the precipice and tension will remain high which will result in more clamour for Biafra. I hope you get it now?

Alright oga professor, so if he is NOW a full fledged Nigerian why's nnamdi kanu bringing it up? What point is he trying to make by stating Atiku is from Cameroun?
The point Nnamdi Kanu is trying to make is very simple if you are discerning enough. He wants Igbos to stop giving him support and since they don't want buhari, they will now abstain from voting on election day and viola, the sit-at-home he wants becomes a reality.

That some so called human beings are still supporting this re.tar.ded vegetable to continue destroying their lives with his actions and inactions speaks volumes why Nigeria is today the world's poverty capital. How can a country with almost 200 million people with millions of them educated and enlightened yet have this apology of a man as president??
Any Middle belt person that still goes ahead to vote Buhari will forever regret it!!
Any body that lost his or her job or saw their income plummet due to Buhari's maladministration and still go ahead to vote him is unfortunate and will remain so for a long time to come.
Any Igbo that still goes ahead to vote Buhari despite all the evil things and atrocities he committed against them, is indeed an efulefu of the highest order and will forever regret his or her actions.
Anybody in the North East who despite Buhari's maladministration and inability to rein-in boko Haram and still goes ahead to vote for him is sick and may not survive the next four years considering boko Haram's incursions without anything being done about it.

ANY NORMAL NIGERIAN THAT STILL GOES AHEAD TO VOTE FOR BUHARI NEEDS HIS OR HER HEAD REEXAMINED!!!

Buhari can never survive a day as a president in any country that is normal.

Nnamdi Kanu said that Atiku WAS A CAMEROONIAN, emphasis on WAS!! Is it that you guys ranting all over the place did not know that South Western/English speaking part of Cameroon, (present day Amazonian) was once in Nigeria while most parts of Gongola state I.e. present day Adamawa and Taraba states were part of Cameroon before the 1963 referendum?? Atiku's area was once part of Cameroon before they decided to belong to Nigeria while those in the English speaking SW chose to join Cameroon!!
