Car Talk / Re: Fastest Speed You Have Ever Driven: Car, Place, Time? by GarbaAudu: 5:34am On Jul 25, 2012
I can't go beyond 140km/hr with a Japanese car. Simply, I don't feel safe. May be with a more heavier European car, I can ONLY test run up to 170km/hr.

Car Talk / Re: Bad Roads: Must I Buy An SUV? by GarbaAudu: 8:16pm On Jul 23, 2012
If you stay here in the north, stick to any of these Japanese cars- Honda, Nissan, & Toyota. So many advantages- better roads, low maintenance cost, cheap spare parts, good fuel economy, good resale value, flexibility in movement, less traffic etc. If you live in the south, the sky is your limit.
Car Talk / Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by GarbaAudu: 6:09pm On Jul 22, 2012
@numen. Your issue is a clear case of water leakage at high temperatures. No doubt about it. Let them check the radiator, the water hose or the pump itself again. The problem might still be from there.

Nairaland / General / Re: Top 10 Rivalries On Nairaland 2005-2012 by GarbaAudu: 5:21pm On Jul 22, 2012
This one is not a rivalry. It is more or less a dethronement. For those who followed auto section 2007/2008 season, you can't ignore the leftist, the controversial, the irrepressible, the one and the only IVVIE ! He was the king of the house untill Midas02 came along and booted him out. Even Seun, Siena, Viperman were scared of Ivvie.
Car Talk / Re: Hyundai Elantra 2012 Or 2011 Camry? by GarbaAudu: 3:40pm On Jul 16, 2012
Pls, which one is 2.5L I4/V6? I've never heard of one before.
Car Talk / Re: Hyundai Elantra 2012 Or 2011 Camry? by GarbaAudu: 6:03pm On Jul 13, 2012
Hyundai elantra is cool but it is no match for camry. It is in the 1.8l category viz- corolla, civic, golf etc. Why can't you go for Hyundai Sonata? This ride beats camry slightly.
Car Talk / Re: What Will You Do If You Kill Someone With Your Car And No One Is Watching? by GarbaAudu: 5:29pm On Jul 11, 2012
Wayyo Allah! That will be a terrible palava. I can imagine the picture- blood, horror... The best I can do is to call my brother/ siblings & informed him about the unfortunate incident, & then proceed to the nearest police station. May we never experience this nasty tragedy.

@stagger. 50 kobo is my favorite way back then. It's enough for me to drink brahma soft drink, eat smarties chocolate, & pay for a horse ride at Murtala square polo ground (Kaduna).

That's Nigeria for you. A country that anything goes. You can do it & get away with. I used to see alot of cripples doing it in the north. I remember one with a tattered NYSC tshirt in Kaduna some years back. I'm waiting for the day a blind man will take over the traffic control. Lol.

Car Talk / Re: What Is Wrong With The 2005/2007 Toyota Avalon?? by GarbaAudu: 9:24pm On Jun 25, 2012
My guy if you have money go for avalon. The car is simply super. Though mostly V6 engine, but fuel economy is very good especially model 2006 & above. It is one of the few cars that have the best suspensions in auto industry. That's why the car is good for long distance journey. It has no any major maintenance issue. Just change your lubes routinely & enjoy your avalon! I can't afford it now, but in future I am planning to celebrate my 40th birthday with AVALON! Lol.

Career / Re: Chemical Engineering Versus Mechanical Engineering Forum by GarbaAudu: 5:29pm On Jun 25, 2012
lonelydude: I currently work as a Process Engineer in NLNG. We are 5 Process engineers in my team and I am the only Chemical Engineering Graduate amongst us, the rest are Mechanical Engineers.

It depends on the sector you are considering. Both are quite versatile and they intertwine at some points.

However, I think if you check newspapers, you are likely to see that for every 10 engineering jobs (mechanical and chemical only) advertised for all sectors,7 will be mechanical. That gives a little indication that Mechanical is a little more versatile but I think chemical engineering is more interesting as testified by my team members.

What more can we say? You have just hit the nail on the head! Chem eng is more of elitist eng. In every chemical process plant, you must supplement the Chem eng's with more Mech eng's back-up. Chem eng is like a daughter to Mech eng. Their only difference is that Chem has an advance knowledge of industrial chemistry. Therefore Mech eng is the mother of all eng. It used to be referred to as Military eng (during middle ages) in relation to civil eng.

Autos / Re: I Am A Clearing Agent,if You Have Consignment,am @ Your Service by GarbaAudu: 4:27pm On Jun 25, 2012
mr banji:
Sir, you weren't cheated.
1) Toyota camry's duty is higher than other cars duty.
2) I believe your car arrived during the time Grimaldi increased their duty.
Thanks alot for the enlightenment. Looking forward to do business with you in the near future. Best regards.
Autos / Re: I Am A Clearing Agent,if You Have Consignment,am @ Your Service by GarbaAudu: 8:28pm On Jun 24, 2012
Oga Banji, mine is a question. Why the cost of clearing camry 2007 just skyrocketed? Some months back i have an agreement with a certain agent to clear my camry at N350,000. When the car arrived (via grimaldi) he called me & request additional N100,000 before the car will be cleared. He claimed that the increase in price is due to government new tax and so on. I was mad. We almost fight with each other. In fact, i have no choice but to pay him. To get the car cleared, it costs me total of N450,000! Pls tell me, have i been cheated or the price is still within acceptable limit?
Politics / Re: Man Wearing Customised Boko Haram Shirt ( Pic) by GarbaAudu: 11:07am On Jun 22, 2012
Though we hate them with passion they have some pockets of supporters. Looking at this picture- No surprise. Its nothing new. This person cud be anybody; hausa, igbo, chadian, muslim, pagan, christians etc. He's either a fan, or he's making pranks- look at his fingers (V sign for peace). My advice to the promoters of this picture, if you want to feature another person next time, instead of name Boko haram, inscribe this name on his shirt "jama'atu izalatul bid'a lid da'awaatil wal jihaad".

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhir raji'un. Boko haram or whatever ur satanic name is, u have done ur worst. This is exactly what u want to achieve; to cause bloody conflict between Muslims & Christians. Too bad the situation has degenerated to this chaos. But I must salute the good people of Wusasa Zaria (both Muslms/Xtians) who have summoned courage to confront three of the terrorists. Two were killed, one badly injured handed over to the police. Insha Allah, asirin ku zai tonu.

Sorry, i mean boko haram have NOT extended their tentacles to Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto & Kebbi.
Politics / Re: Newly Transferred To Gusau In Zamfara State.. Need Help! by GarbaAudu: 5:31pm On May 24, 2012
Gusau, along Zaria-Sokoto highway, a typical northern town, small, less crowded, less ambitious easy going people, erratic power supply but less harsh weather than most northern cities. Didn't know much about it, i only stopped by on my way to Sokoto (more urbanized). But heard that crime rate is very low, only small time thieves/ burglars. You don't have to be scared of Gusau, only worry about the highway leading to d town. Though a smooth road, bandits are kings there especially during market days in some surrounding villages. Most of the robbers are herdsmen and amazingly ur southern brothers (apology). Though boko haram have not extended their tentacles to Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto & Kebbi, you should stay alert & watch ur moves in any part of northern Nigeria. Even though most of us (muslims) beleive that boko haram is more of political power play than religious bigotry. My advice to you, don't reject the offer. Give Gusau a 3 month trial, if its not ur kind of town u can resign & return to ur more turbulent south. Best of luck. Allah bada sa'a.

Chei! Baba Buhari always make me shiver with fear. His prophesies always turnout to be true. It looks as if he's some how a mini prophet. Though i'm not really a fan of Buhari, but apart from threats, blackmail, blame games, ranting, accusations & counter accusations, what have we really achieved in this present administration? A word for thought. Assalam.

On a serious note, SS/SE should not complain. It's more easier to drive through Benin-Ore road these days. East-West road will be completed by Dec 2012. Enugu-Aba road has been marked for expansion (six lanes). Osha-Owerri contract has been reawarded. It's a good omen for road transporters- courtesy of GEJ.
