xperiencelove: As much as you owns your car, I am talking from experience. Last year December, Dec 22 precisely, I bought a green colour Camry 03 from someone that needs some cash and the person uses 20W50. As at then, I already owned a gold colour big daddy which I bought in 2019 as toks which I have been using 5W30 full synthetic oil and I change it twice a year. A day after Easter Monday this year, the green color oil pump failed and spoilt the metal bearing. From my research and some technicians verdicts, the thicker the oil, the more power and force it requires for oil pump to pump the oil. I repaired it and sold it on July 9th and bought Camry 2012 that is on Castrol 5W30 full synthetic. The gold Camry is V6 VVTi, cool as ever, 5W30 lubricate well than 20W50, I have never add any fluid including coolant since I have bought it and it is the car I travels with which is the reason I bought V6 and I lives in Ibadan but works in Lagos Island. So whether you change the oil even 2k miles or 500miles, that oil is too tick for Camry 03 and upward oil pump. It is the oil pump weakness that mostly damage engine parts especially crankshaft and metal bearings because they won't get enough lubrication.

dru23: This is not a good sign at all . if there was sign of leak on the ground . Than good news at least u can try to trace the leak ... But if there is no sign of any leaks at all .. It means the oil is burning somewhere and more than likely the engine is bad .. You can always ask for a second opinion .........what type of oil were u using?
My experience from my uber cars .. During my early yes of uber with no experience with car maintenance. I used a 2003 camry at the time on my fleet. I was using 20w50 xhp The engine kept shorting oil with no sign of leaks on the ground and little white smoke coming out at morning start up very little smoke.
So my mechanic advice to top the engine with 20w50 and sell the car.. So anytime a buyer comes to look at the car . we start the car up to clear up the smoke before any buyer shows up . And that is how we were able to sell the car .. And from there on I vowed never to use 20w50 oil again.......

They are mostly parts from accidented and salvaged vehicles from Europe, Canada and Japan, USA . Etc
The only reason why most people sell used cars with mechanical issues in the USA is because of the cost of LABOUR! Labour is cheap here in Nigeria and so you can buy a Camry with a bad engine for 1000 bucks, ship it real cheap here.
Buying tokumbor engines is even a good thing since you didn't say he repaired them.
I use a 2007 Lexus es 350. I noticed that when I start the car and shift the gear to Drive, the car Jerks forward with force after which I start driving normally. My mechanic immediately suggested it was the oxygen sensor and it was serviced but to no avail. I've been on the issue for weeks now, I scanned twice and the results show that gear and gearbox are both okay, the only issue was with the "park neutral switch" which we have replaced but the issue persists.
I stay in Enugu state, what seems to be the issue? please can you kindly advise me?
With a scan tool check charging voltage 13.5-14v, also replace rage switch if faulty

I don't think you should just give up on your old compressor.
The coil in the clutch could be the culprit, a blocked system could receive relief from a valve on the compressor .
kelechiodo: @gazzuzz please I've 2000 Camry. The coolant in radiator reduces always but I can't detect any leak but my mechanic asked me to change to double cell. Is that a good advice. I refill the radiator after a short distance. What else may be causing the constant shortage.
A leak, or water is entering the combustion chamber and exiting the exhaust.
xanie: I noticed rough idling on my Corolla 2003. Got it scanned and it threw up the P0300; Multiple Engine misfire. I changed all four plugs, had the injectors cleaned out... The vehicle was rescanned and the codes cleared. The check engine goes off After driving for about 10 minutes the check engine lights again and the rough idling resurfaces.
Now the mechanic is suggesting so many things; timing chain, leaks and even dropping the engine. I'm not comfortable with his guess work... I bought it toks August last year...
Call me on video call with engine bay open, you will fix it your self

Mechanic said the metal is broken and it affected the Crankshaft. I'm thinking of buying engine half and top or just buy new Crankshaft and Original metal. Your recommendations would be highly appreciated

I went under and observed that the exhaust pipe has completely cut at the junction before the pot, going outward and that junction is completely damaged by rust.
I took it to welder who used oxyacetylene to put a pipe in place of the joint and welded. However I started the car right there and there was still noise, though lesser.
He said my exhaust pot and muffler is damaged.
This Car used to be as silent as any good small v6 when idling but now on startup u hear aloud gruuuummmm which slowly dies down but not completely as before as rpm moves from 1.2 to stick at 800 just 10 seconds after startup.
Question is should I go ahead to replace pot? I no wan do trial and error.
Is there any diagnostic test I need to run to be sure. I have no exhaust related CEL
A month ago my car started developing issue, it stop while I was accelerating on a high way. The battery light and everything is on but it won't just start. I had to call my mechanic and came all the way, he checked the car and said my fuel pump is bad. I gave him money to buy new fuel pump, and the car started just fine.
3 days later I was driving and the car stopped again, this time I saw a road side mechanic where the car stopped, I don't know what he did but i am sure he looked at the fuel pump area an the car started.
Yesterday I was driving and the car stopped again, after I waited for a while the car started, I called my mechanic now he is saying that we should change the filter cos he only change the fuel pump not the filter. He gauges the fuel pump pressure and is almost 60.
I don't want to be spending money while the problem keeps on persisting.
