khattab02: One may ask, what is the NDDC and Ministry of Niger delta doing? Is the federal government not pumping money there? Hear this statment '' it not oil theft, it is making use of God given resource'' may be u should build your own refinery and extract the oil your self. It Really absurd to make these statements
Thank you. For me, currently, many ND leaders epitomises man's wickedness against his fellow man. These crooks have perfected the art of looting and enslaving their own people only to distract the attention of those poor people via pointing senselessly and distractingly at others.

There is virtually no help the ND needs right now that it is not getting. Granted the region has been neglected and abused regrettably in the past. Now the regions own sons and daughters are in an empowered position to seize the moment and better the lot of their long-suffering folks yet they remain myopically obsessed with self-aggrandizement, unconscionable looting, acquisition of private jets and choice mansions plus, worst of all, the unpatriotic theft of the commonwealth meant to develop their own people and region.

To make matters worse, these people, as Boyloaf is doing here, get away with deceiving their own people that others are the problem and that they are "righting the wrong" lining their own pockets. If Niger Deltans do not start identifying and dealing with their own worst enemy, who are be right under their noses and close to home, then they will still be in the same position in the next 30 years while every callous thief, posing as a champion of the people, is mouthing rhetoric to justify his own selfish theft.

ziccoit: Ex militants the SS & SE Boko harams are criminals like their counterparts in the North. The government must declare a state of security emergency and clamp them down now. Who are they to dictate for the rest of Nigerians. Bunch of unserious bingos.
Unfortunately, it is the Government of GEJ abetting this brazen theft against the Nation. This is why bunkering is now at an all time high with militant warlord having the effrontery to brag that the Niger Delta is merely carrying out "resource control" when the rest of the world only sees self-aggrandizing oil bunkering.

We should ask what these caring 'Robin Hoods' are doing for the communities they are carrying out "resource control" on behalf of. The world is not fooled. They only sees the enrichment of the 'might is right crew' some now want to tag as "resource control" while ordinary folks are worse off despite "their son" being in charge. Very wicked people who have perfected the art of wickedly and mercilessly enslaving their own while they pretend others are their problem.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Ranked Among World’s Poorest Competitive Countries. by Gbawe2(op): 9:28am On Sep 07, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: The reasons for the poor ranking of Nigeria, according to the report, are:

-weak institutions (ranked at 129th out of 148)
-engrained corruption, undue influence, weakly protected property rights, insecurity (ranked at 142nd),
-poor infrastructure (ranked at 135th)
-poor primary education (ranked at 146th)

Well, many of those criteria are either joint responsibility of all tiers of govt or responsibility of other tier of govt. For instance, primary education is not the responsibility of GEJ. It is the constitutional responsibility of state and local govt. So @Gbawe and other APC sycophants should tell their masters that the poor primary school education in their states is affecting the ranking of Nigeria.

The other criterias including weak institutions, corruption, poor infrastructures, etc is an indictment on all tiers of govt- state, federal and local govt. It shows that they ALL have to do MORE.
Shut up. Your breath stinks as bad as your unintelligently senseless, crassly dishonest and odiously sycophantic excuses. GEJ is a failure and you cannot pass the buck for his failings on to others. Had this been an improvement in Nigeria's ranking, it is you and your nauseatingly dishonest co-travellers who would make it all about GEJ while spamming the forum to death about how "fresh air is working".

I am really uncomfortable, even if it is only on a faceless forum, being citizens of the same nation with fraudsters like you. You are a disgrace. Do you know I do not even bother to read what you write? That is the level of disregard I have for any utterance you make because I believe you are only capable of mouthing dishonest drivel.

Maxymilliano: Nigeria is not moving backwards in all aspect, except you are the one moving backward. The index only confirm the statement credited to Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala,  Nigeria’s Minister of Finance recently that the country’s economy is“strong but with vulnerabilities” ...
Your petty insults mean nothing to me. You are a very dishonest person and as such you do not deserve a detailed response from me or indeed other sensible and truthful Nairalanders. I will let the quotes below dissipate your silly and expectedly dishonest attempt at spinning, on behalf of your failing messiah, what is in black and white.

In most sane Nations, they call a spade a spade and accept statistical changes/indicators that, for every honest person, incontrovertibly points at failure of leadership. Not so Nigeria the domain of many shamelessly hardened fraudsters and nauseatingly dishonest individuals like you.

Ordinarily, many of you, even if his die-hard fans, should be ashamed of GEJ at times like this. Yet a backbone of fraud and an ingrained mindset of patent dishonesty means you will show up to say senselessly dishonest things you assume to be positive spin. Yet you are only disgracing your Nation and yourself. You cannot spin the quotes below that indict GEJ as a failure because the world is not full of fraudsters like you. Was GEJ voted in to take us backwards from 115th to 120th? Or was he voted in to improve our standings and move Nigeria forward? What a dishonest, clannish and fraudulent clown.

Nigeria dropped five places from last year's 115th position to 120th.
It worries the compilers of the index that Nigeria's economy is struggling to keep up despite overt advantages over other African countries.
It identifies weak institutions (ranked at 129th out of 148); engrained corruption, undue influence, weakly protected property rights, insecurity (ranked at 142nd), poor infrastructure (ranked at 135th) and poor primary education (ranked at 146th) as the reasons for the country's abysmal rating.
PoliticsRe: BREAKING: Ex Militants Back GEJ For Second Term, Say Oil Theft Must Continue by Gbawe2:
@Topic.

Here we have it. The truth and the "real mission" as revealed by the direct 'representatives' of GEJ. Now you have the glaring confession that we are not dealing with oil theft but with "resource control". I think, for those not dishonest and totally amoral, it is crystal clear what GEJ is abetting. Now, his concession of pipeline protection contracts to militant warlords makes perfect sense same as how the master of the thieves is the family member who gets up to open the door at 11pm so his gang can gain entry to rob everyone while he feigns shock and distress when his armed robber buddies arrive.

The revelation oil theft is now at the highest and most deplorable level for a long time now seems perfectly in order and a planned consequence of a "resource control" agenda.

With an ethnic President committed to helping these guys settle 'scores' against Nigeria, why will militants, many now becoming billionaires faster than you can say "bunkering", not be the latest voices to be vehemently insisting it must be GEJ in 2015?

“I hate to hear the word ‘oil thieves or oil theft’ because the people you want to label as thieves are simply trying to make use of their God-given resources. In other words what they are doing is the legitimate ‘resource control’ that we have been talking about.

“The truth of the matter is that the Niger Delta people are simply controlling their resources and not stealing any oil,” Boyloaf said.

humblesteve: Transformation my foot. *Hiss*
The only 'transformation' going on is that which is turning rich crooks into much richer crooks who are now, at record pace, making Nigeria the private jet capital of the world. This is what GEJ has come in to achieve and this is why, uniquely, all the biggest crooks, AGIPs and ruinous hands put their difference aside to unite behind "fresh air" in 2011.

These enemies of progress knew that, under GEJ, Nigeria was about to be opened up for the taking in a manner never before seen in our history. So far, GEJ has not disappointed them at all. A cursory look at those getting stupendously rich under GEJ(crooks, AGIPs, militants, terrorists et al) shows we are in serious trouble and will struggle, as a Nation, to put down the many monsters this President is feeding fat.

DonColz1: Nigeria has a serious problem, jonathan government is a confused government, there is too much money in nigeria, but they would be using it to buy yatch, jet, and luxurious that are not adding anything to the growth of the nation, jonathan government does not focus on economic growth but focuses on personal growth, after all the promises he made during his 7 point agenda, nigeria is still the same, the problem with jonathan government is planning, and this is going to cripple the nigeria if he does not plan how to use the resources of nigeria..
Thank you. You hit the nail on the head. I was one of those that stated continuously, before the 2011 election, that Nigeria must reject GEJ because we were at a critical stage where serious and thorough reforms were needed everywhere else Nigeria risked facing economic collapse if it embraced another clueless and gradualist looter. Lo and behold, Nigerians voted for the worst option possible because many were too busy following their sentiments and instincts of discriminatory bias.

It was obvious, given his past record and direct associations before the 2011 election, that GEJ is another accidental and undeserving leader promoted far above his station and only "focused on personal growth" as you opined. I am not surprised at the appalling failures being publicised daily about Nigeria. Indeed I made it clear we can expect this if GEJ became President. Shame that more Nigerians than is healthy are too biased and sentimental to see what matters. We may continue to cut our noses to spite our faces thanks to those who lack political sophistication and simplistically see everything along sectional and ethno-religious lines.

Another negatively damning indictment showing, for all morally upright Nigerians, that GEJ is an unmitigated failure who is worsening our biggest problems. Far from being "transformation", this President has turned out to be a champion of retrogression and stagnation.

Nigeria is moving backwards in every aspect under this woeful accidental leader. That Nigerians put up with this abjectly incompetent President, when proof of his "kindergaten" incompetence come in overwhelmingly thick and fast every day, is the biggest disgrace of all. That, above everything else, is what reveals we are a disunited joke of a nation unable to call a spade a spade.

Nigeria ranked among world’s poorest competitive countries
News Friday, September 6, 2013

Nigeria dropped five places from last year's 115th position to 120th.

Despite the efforts to diversify the economy and attract investors by the Jonathan administration, Nigeria is still ranked among the stragglers in the Global Competitive Index, GCI, 2013-2014 released Wednesday by the World Economic Forum.

Nigeria dropped five places from last year's 115th position to 120th among the 148 countries profiled.

The GCI, which was introduced in 2004, measures how the set of institutions, policies, and other factors determine the level of productivity of a country. The GCI scores is calculated by drawing together the 12 pillars of competitiveness namely: institutions, infrastructure, macroeconomic environment, health and primary education, higher education and training, goods market efficiency, labour market efficiency, financial market development, technological readiness, market size, business sophistication and innovation.

According to the ranking, Nigeria is placed in the poorest pool of economic development possible. Nigeria ranked as a "factor driven" economy with the likes of Liberia, Lao, Mali and Yemen.”

There are four stages of development with innovation-driven economies being the best pool of nations.

It worries the compilers of the index that Nigeria's economy is struggling to keep up despite overt advantages over other African countries. For instance, the report noted that Nigeria, due to its population, enjoys a large market size (32nd position) "which has the potential for significant economies of scale and is an important factor for attracting investors."

It also points to the over reliance on oil and the poor penetration of ICT as the other reasons for the country's poor showing.

Meanwhile Mauritius has overtaken South Africa as the most competitive country in Sub-Saharan Africa. Ranked at 45th position the country moved up nine places this year. The country's enviable showing is bolstered by "transparent public institutions (ranked at 39th) with clear property rights and strong judicial independence and an efficient government (29th)," the report noted.

Akamu and Stew: Where are the sycophants??

Where are the attack dogs and lions??

What deafening silence from the fools...

grin
They cannot show face because reality, not the empty chest beating and idiotic braggadocio they revelled in, is currently 'trending'. Many of us warned them that the PDP was a Northern Party but these chest-beaters, unreasonable as they are, would not accept that.

They started bragging, as if GEJ was a superman who could do everything on his own, that "Aboki will not smell power for the next 50 years". We warned them that this mindset is not only stupid but one destined to lead to bitter defeat. While the North remains a legitimate and numerically significant member of Nigeria, you must give them their dues and include them in all political processes if you wish to succeed. That is basic critical thinking every reasonable adult should be capable of.

Yet those who wished to ethnicise the Presidency quickly made issues about vilifying and alienating a people GEJ could not have become President without. They even spoke as if GEJ single-handedly founded the PDP and could do as he pleased against others. I laughed when clannish fools began, because of GEJ, to shout as if they owned the PDP more than the numerically strong Northerners who remain the spine of the Party. What naivete I thought.

It is certainly good to see these Nairaland sycophants, as some of us stated would happen, silenced after their empty chest-beating noise. No one can get anywhere without forging alliances with others in Nigeria while we remain one Nation. I hope this episode will make that clear to some people who revel in insulting and alienating all others without the basic sense to note that no man/ethnic group is an Island.
PoliticsRe: Does Atiku Abubakar Have Any Electoral Value? by Gbawe2:
payless: Surprisingly, they have left Buhari alone in the last 10 days. Atiku is their next target of GEJ enemy. Only God knows who they fight next as GEJ enemy. Whoever chooses to aspire to be president is an enemy to them. Let them keep doing what they are doing and see where it lands GEJ and his supporters. GEJ is currently facing an impeachment threat from Northern legislators. It is quite clear that PDP they've been voting for is owned and controlled by Hausas. Jagaban Tinubu, Buhari and APC in general are the wilcards here when it comes to any impeachment in the National Assembly. APC can let it go through or stop the impeachment on its track. The same APC they have been berating for the last two years.
Why will they not leave Buhari alone? These are people who cannot focus beyond 10 minutes, let alone ten days, to see what matters. It is the perceived enemy of this current second they will lavish all their attention on. Very simplistic set of people who take unreasonable clannishness to an appalling level. We all saw them make the fuel subsidy about Farouk while they ignored how it was GEJ and Allison-Madueke who handed out fuel marketers license to literally road side mechanics who then went on to scam the nation blind!!!

We note them, on this same forum, savage Ribadu when the man did his job to make recommendations to GEJ as he was mandated to do as head of the petroleum task force GEJ himself set up. It was appalling and feral how these clannish sycophants, always supportive of everything GEJ does, attacked Ribadu who was doing the job he was asked to do while they ignored GEJ who ignored a very pivotal set of recommendation he was given to turn around our petroleum sector. My brother, where is that done in the world?

Only recently, it was Ameachi who was a "little ant" about to be "squashed" for daring to take on 'messiah' President GEJ who can do no wrong in the myopic eyes of these clannish elements. Their Nairaland anthem back then was "Amaechi should know that you can never fight the President and win".

When Aliyu came out to broach the topic of GEJ's one term pledge, he was savaged ruthlessly by the GEJ e-militia. Aliyu was suddenly the "born to rule" devil incarnate never mind he was one of the moderates who helped GEJ gain the PDP ticket at the expense of Atiku in 2010.

Yesterday it was OBJ. Today it is Atiku. These people are just incredibly sad. They never look at GEJ and what he does wrong. Their mission is just to support him clannishly and attack his latest perceived protagonist whenever such a person is believed to have shown up. I continue to insist it is this mindset that has gotten GEJ all the trouble he faces today. These clannish Nairalanders, who never face issues and urge GEJ to be as unconscionable dictatorial as possible, are the equivalent of those who surround GEJ and give him advise that leads him to offend and isolate everyone. Let them make it about Atiku today. We know, for these desperate lot, it will be someone else tomorrow. For them, it will never be about looking at what GEJ is doing wrong.
PoliticsRe: Does Atiku Abubakar Have Any Electoral Value? by Gbawe2:
Remain here asking irrelevant questions. This is one of the main problem with you fans of GEJ and your persecution complex. You never face the substantive issue and love putting up a bogeyman for every phase of problem GEJ walks into.

You remain susceptible to completely distracting and 'blind-siding' yourselves with any newly revealed 'enemy' of GEJ like a Dog chasing a bone. You guys do this with Buhari, Tinubu, Fashola, EL Rufai, Ribadu or anyone you feel is the latest protagonist of GEJ. You will then begin threads telling us the character in question drank wine in 1962, smoked hemp in 1975 or failed to stop at a traffic light in 1982.

Is the Presidential ambition of Atiku new? Is Atiku a stranger or is he a former VP of your own Nation? You now want to know if he has "electoral value" because he appears the arrow head of those dealing with your messiah currently? You are wasting your own time.

Forget focusing on Atiku. This is not about Atiku. Behind him are others who equally want the PDP Presidential ticket. The plot, first and foremost, is to ensure GEJ honours his one term pledge. Then you will have many characters, not Atiku alone, to inspect for "electoral value" after that. The thread below is a perfect illustration of how you lot think. Atiku you all derided as a faded item is now worthy of your attention and desperate character assassination efforts. Pathetic.

You guys need originality in your approach because it is your very clannish support that is actually causing problems for GEJ. When you should tell him the truth you lie that is is others who wrong him. Look where it has now gotten you all. Yet, like a car with no reverse gear, you carry on doing the same thing at a time you should honestly and dispassionately inspect the actions of GEJ that has gotten him to this sorry point. Keep pushing the angle that your man is never wrong. It is always others. Atiku today, lord knows who tomorrow. Ridiculous.

Ha ha ha. They are now even threatening to impeach GEJ. This is comical. After all the chest-beating and braggadocio from the sycophantic fans of GEJ, which some of us warned them against, it is now becoming clear the PDP, as we asserted, is a Northern Party. We dey laff. Fight to the finish.

We will see what GEJ and his chest-beating support base are made of now. The time for empty noise and silly threats is over. Atiku et al have thrown down the gauntlet. We await the response of the "almighty" warlord we were told would stroll to a 2015 win merely because he is President when many of us warned the "owners" of the PDP will show their hand devastatingly when the time is right.

Where are the clannish loudmouths who were previously shouting that "the PDP is the only national Party" merely because their kinsman is a PDP President? Why is the "national spread" of the PDP absent currently as unsmiling "awon boyz" are dealing with GEJ? Oya make una move beyond empty chest beating and go and deal with the "abokis" you claim will not smell power for the next 50 years.

2015: Jonathan faces impeachment threat
POSTED ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5TH, 2013

•Mark warns against another civil war

By Habib Aruna (Lagos) and Chinwendu Nnadozie (Minna)

Leaders of the factional group in the troubled ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seem to be consolidating their hold on the party with moves for possible impeachment of President Goodluck Jonathan if he refuses to jettison his yet to be declared aspiration to contest the 2015 Presidential poll.

The ‘New PDP,’ as the splinter group is known, it was gathered, has started to compile signatures in both chambers of the National Assembly to move against the President if their conditions for resolution of the crisis currently rocking the party were not met.

Apparently realising their possible superior numerical strength and the fact that the balance of power may have tilted in their favour, the new group is telling the President to either forget his 2015 ambition or get ready for impeachment.

The crack in the ruling party widened on Tuesday when no fewer than 57 members of the party in the House of Representatives declared their support for the splinter group.

The lawmakers made the declaration a day after 22 of their colleagues in the Senate took a similar step.

Even so, sources said on Wednesday that some other lawmakers who would have signed the allegiance document were not in town as the House is on recess.

The sources were sure that those members of the House now on break would endorse the document when they return.

The ‘New PDP’, whose birth was announced on Saturday by its Chairman, Kawu Baraje, originally had in its fold former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and seven state Governors elected on the platform of the crisis-torn party.

The Governors include Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara) and Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano).

The others are Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers), Sule Lamido (Jigawa) and Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto).

The defecting lawmakers in the House were essentially drawn from the seven states whose Governors led the revolt against the leadership of the ruling party on Saturday.

A top member of the ‘New PDP’ who would want to remain anonymous said going by events of the past five days, the party under the leadership of Bamanga Tukur should know that they were not joking.

“We are tired of meetings upon meetings, the ‘New PDP’ wants the President to come out with a categorical statement that he is no longer interested in contesting for the Presidency in 2015. That is what will soothe the nerves of many of us for now,” the source said.

He continued: “Apart from the pressure on other lawmakers to join the fold, we are also reaching out to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) through their members in the National Assembly to checkmate this abuse of power by those we consider as enemies of democracy.”

Daily Independent reliably gathered that Jonathan had been told by promoters of the splinter group that not only should the National Chairman of the party, Bamanga Tukur, be sacked, the President must honour the alleged agreement with some party chieftains in 2011 to serve only one term or face impeachment.

This development may have reinforced the belief of those who had always said the fight for the soul of the PDP was to deny Jonathan the platform to consummate his yet to be declared second term ambition.

The source further said the planned impeachment move was meant to force him to reconsider his position on 2015.

“You can call it a bargaining chip in the hands of his opponents. But if he is pragmatic enough he would think twice before jumping into the fray. So, the factionalisation of the party was a signal to Jonathan to halt his ambition to run for a second term,” the source said.

“We are demanding that he publicly renounces any ambition to run a second term or face impeachment in the National Assembly. The choice is his.”

At the moment, PDP has 204 members in the House of Representatives, All Progressives Congress (APC) has 137, while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Accord Party have five members each.

The Labour Party has eight, while the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) also has five members.

But with the defection of 57 PDP members to the ‘New PDP’ and more expected to join their ranks, they could combine with the 137 members of the APC to effect a change of leadership in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

In the Senate, the PDP, before the new faction, had 74 members, APC 33 members and Labour Party, two members.

The power equation in both chambers has changed dramatically with the latest development and some are already calculating that National Assembly leadership may become the first victim of the power play if they act as a stumbling block to the plans of the ‘New PDP.’

And as the crisis within the PDP is getting to a feverish pitch, Senate President, David Mark, on Wednesday warned Nigerians, particularly the political class beating the drums of war ahead of the 2015 general elections, to have a change of heart because “Nigeria cannot afford another civil war.”

Speaking when he led other members of the Alumni Association of Course 3 of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) who were in Minna for their Annual General Meeting (AGM) to pay a courtesy call on Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu, at the Government House, Minna, Mark reminded all that “war does not build but rather destroys a nation.”

“The strength of Nigeria is in our unity and not in our division, so let us all work together for the unity and progress of this country.

“Wars will do no one any good. The best thing Nigerians as individuals can do to promote peace and live in peace with one another is by disregarding acts that separate us as a people not withstanding tribal, religious and political differences,” the Senate President said.

Speaking against the backdrop of threats to the unity of the country ahead of the 2015 general elections, Mark reminded Nigerians that “the unity of Nigeria is extremely important.”

“We urge Nigerians to ensure peace and not shout wars because when there is no peace there will be no development. I will work for the unity and peace of this country because our strength is in our unity, not in our division; so we must all work for the unity of this country.

“The peace and unity of this country cannot be compromised for anything. We must look at some fundamental issues in this country and we should also not talk about secession again in this country.

“Many lives were wasted in this country in our first attempt at secession, so we are calling on all Nigerians to embrace peace and stop war slogans. There cannot be development without peace and our strength lies in our unity as a nation,” he added.

shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked Dude, are you for real? Why, if "there's no battle yet", did GEJ orchestrate the sack of a whole strata of PDP officials to ensure Anenih emerged BOT chairman after Ali, a last minute entrant, had carried the day easily to the embarrassment of team GEJ and to the extent they had to declare the Ali win as "deadlocked"?

Were you on Mars to have missed the desperation of GEJ to make 16 greater than 19 in the zeal to defeat Amaechi? How about the attempted Rivers impeachment? Guy, support GEJ but do so with some honesty so that your decency remains clear to fellow forumers.

GEJ initiated aggressive battles against others to actualise an ambition that is doomed in my opinion. He has played all his hand and others were happy to indulge his 'gra gra' secure in the knowledge they had the numbers, sagacity and influence to bring GEJ to his knees any time they want. Enjoy the ride since you appear one of the few who does not appreciate that, when it matters and for determined opposition willing to stay the course against GEJ, 16 is not greater than 19 or 80% (my estimate of the percentage against GEJ in the PDP) is not greater than 20%.

"Aboki" Atiku and the boys are not smiling at all !!!!

By SaharaReporters, New York
The New PDP, under the leadership of Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, has asked its lawyers to press contempt charges against Alhaji Bamanga Tukur for flouting the orders of a Lagos High Court which asked both sides to maintain the status quo pending the resolution of the case before it on who should lead the party.

A statement issued last night by the National Secretary of the Baraje-PDP, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, condemned the press conference addressed by Tukur in Abuja on Wednesday during which he threatened to sack members of the National Assembly who have declared support for it, and arrest its officers.

Recalling the instructions of the court, Oyinlola said his faction would ask the court to commit Tukur to jail for his disdain for the law and the judicial system.

"We have always been saying it that Tukur represents everything that must not be seen in a democratic organization,” he stressed. “His statement demonstrates not just impunity but also lawlessness and crass ignorance of the tenets of the law and democratic ethos.”

Oyinlola said Tukur displayed his disdain for law and order with his threat to order the arrest of law abiding persons in a democracy.

“We ask what powers he has under our laws to make that statement and what gave him the impression that Nigeria has become a police state where impunity reigns and citizens can be arrested at the whim of any power drunk tzar. Fortunately, our country is a democracy under the rule of law and not under the rule of man. The police and our other security agencies cannot be used to further such agenda as being nurtured in the dictatorial mind of Tukur.”

He asserted that only an ignorant person would threaten to sack elected Senators and Representatives for staying on the side of truth, justice and fairness, reminding Tukur that members of the National Assembly were elected by the people of Nigeria and are not his appointees whom he can dismiss like the minions in his private residence.

On Tukur’s reference to the Baraje-led leadership of the PDP as “impostors,” Oyinlola asked if Tukur does not know that the endorsement of their faction’s cause by elected representatives of the people across all tiers of government has vindicated their position that what they represent in the party today is what the people want.

“We challenge him to call out those who are with him in his clear journey to perdition even as we add that Tukur should come to terms with the reality of the end of his reign of terror, impunity, dictatorship and lawlessness in our party."

When will the clannish and ethnocentric fanbase of GEJ show basic decency that will allow them defer to democracy? If the majority do not want to give the PDP ticket to GEJ, why not find another platform for god sake? Why not accept reality?

Why do they want to die in the PDP? Why continue issuing threats as if democracy should be suspended so GEJ can return by all means? Some people are now getting desperate because thy have realised the 'mission impossible' they face after bragging emptily and carrying on as if they can go it alone.

Clarke and co will now see, in 3D, why astute analysts have always tagged the PDP a "Northern Party". This is one of the most pathetic thing to see in life. Adults who cannot reason like adult and prefer to act like toddlers who often shun reality to insist on getting their own way. This is not about anyone stopping GEJ. It is about GEJ and his clannish supporters realising 2015 is impossible if GEJ does not run under the PDP that has a majority of members hell-bent on denying him their Presidential ticket. They are now between the devil and the deep sea. I.e can't go elsewhere and can't get the ticket either. The real problem is that, try as they might, they cannot surmount that reality with threats and they cannot deceive anyone that GEJ is some sort of victim either.

Thank you. The list is very long. Atiku, Baraje, IBB, Kwanksako, Tambuwal, Lamido, Aliyu, Nyako,Ciroma and many, many, many more are working to thwart GEJ. Yet OBJ gets elevated to the position of enemy number one pronto.

Not a fan of Dokubo Asari but this is the sort of thing he had in mind when he labelled GEJ "weak". You know who your enemies are but remain scared to mention them let alone take them on. We all know Atiku is someone no one controls least of all OBJ because of their personal history. This is the same President who lamented that Boko Haram has infiltrated every level of his Government yet no one has seen him do anything about such an alarming claim and one would assume these people are still thriving in their positions and plotting further against Nigeria. If it is to bully Amaechi, Sylva, Oyinlola and other Southerners with Presidential power then GEJ is always up for that sort of thing. The more time goes by the more this man turns out less admirable, more dishonourable and more manipulative.

In this instance, those against GEJ are not ghosts. They are known and have names. GEJ should take them down if he can and spare us his unPresidential style of shifting blame while avoiding certain ethnic groups and certain problems. He courted their problem with a pledge he had no interest in upholding. Let him face them squarely now they have begun their fightback against his 'gra gra'.

Thank you. Some supporters of GEJ simply have no shame. Their whole approach reeks of ethnocentric and clannish desperation plus cowardice. Here someone says OBJ is behind everything and fools begin insulting the guy without stopping to engage their brain. It is the Northerners who are behind this palace coup because of the pledge GEJ reneged on. Yet this is the style of GEJ. Ignore his Northern protagonists to focus bile and vitriol on Southerners like Amaechi and OBJ.

Everyone knows how independent-minded Atiku is. This is a man who fought OBJ to a standstill. If Atiku is head of the rebel PDP group, it is obvious that GEJ and his NL fans are living in fools paradise with how they are scared to mention Atiku by name and instead prefer to serve up OBJ. Is this not the same forum where these two-faced sycophants shouted that OBJ is "old, irrelevant and impotent"? Suddenly he is behind the biggest headache GEJ has today. What next? OBJ is behind Boko Haram?

I would simply suggest GEJ and his fans face their Northern onslaught and stop making out Ameachi, OBJ, Tinubu, Fashola and all other southerners are their enemies. Ultimately, no Southerner has an influence over what Northern politicians do. It is clear those who want the Presidency and it is clear they do not need any Southern help to take the fight to GEJ. Bigots should therefore not use their hatred of Yoruba people to elevate OBJ to the top as 'enemy number one'. I am not his fan but I know the ugly emotions behind this round of vilification of the man. We are all seeing things play out before our eyes. GEJ is no victim and his clannish fans should stop their cowardice and face Atiku and the very large number of Northerners brandishing a long list of grievances and even longer knives. These people are going nowhere and determined to get their pound of flesh. Team GEJ, stop being cowards. Stop looking for convenient Southern scapegoats that aids your fear of confronting your real foes. Face and neutralise the North if you can.

Very good to highlight the acrimony in the PDP and remind Nigerians that they must reject 15 years of failure now culminating in a desperate power struggle for the soul of the ruling Party. Shameful that it is toxic infighting, and not leadership drive, dominating the agenda of a ruling Party two years away from the next general election.

Lagos APC Sees Implosion of PDP As Good Omen For Nigeria

By Joe Igbokwe
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress sees the protracted crisis presently rocking the Peoples Democratic Party as good omen to completely free the country from the vice grips of a desperate cabal that is behind the ruination of the country and its enormous resources in the past fifteen years. The party urges all Nigerians to project beyond PDP in their search for redemption from the farcical mess the PDP has made of governance and the lives of Nigerians.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Interim Publicity Secretary of the APC, Joe Igbokwe, the party says that the disintegration of the PDP is long overdue as nothing built on greed and corruption lasts. It says that the time has come for Nigerians to rally round the APC to banish the long years of misrule, ineptitude, corruption, decay and poverty which have been the hallmarks of PDP’s sad and unfortunate rule these past fifteen years.

“What is happening in PDP today is a reflection of the base foundation that has been responsible for the artificial growth of the party. The contradictions in the PDP and its continued manipulation of the country’s electoral process to stay in power is returning horrible results for the party presently and we see this as a natural outcome of a party built on false grounds and grown by intense corruption and brigandage in governance. We see the implosion of the PDP as a great necessity for the progress of the country and the present democracy and we restate out belief that this is of tremendous positive impact to the general life of the country and indeed all Nigerians.

“Lagos APC knows, as other Nigerians, that the growth of the PDP had been artificial and had been nurtured by greed, corruption and impunity, to the detriment of the general masses and the entire country. We know that PDP had achieved artificial growth at the expense of Nigerians who have been witnessing geometric worsening of their fate in the face of an unceasing oil boom for the past fourteen years. We know that while poverty, want and despair had been ravaging Nigerians, the members of the PDP have been smiling home with their rich harvest, which was preened from the resources that would have improved life in Nigeria. We know that the PDP had been deploying state resources these past fourteen years to plug the raging tempest and insurrection within the inchoate party while Nigerians suffer their worst ever economic peril these past fourteen years.

“We see the degeneration of the crisis in the party at present as a demonstration of the limited capacity of greed and corruption to serve as glue to arrest the predictable war in the PDP. We see the continued fracture of the party as a proof that a people are not foaled all the time even as they are fooled most of the time. We therefore urge all Nigerians to dump the rickety umbrella with its retinue of corrupt and amoral leaders and join the train of salvation, which the APC has become in the face of the historical failure of the PDP in the past fifteen years. We want to let Nigerians know that the APC is a sound and competent alternative to the PDP’s misrule and Nigerians should join now and start the quest to recover what is remaining of the country after fifteen wasted years in the hands of the PDP.”

Joe Igbokwe.
Interim Publicity Secretary,
Lagos APC.

For the absence of doubt and to counter further 'confusionists', the O-Meal program is the Osun relaunch of the FG-led Home Grown School Feeding and Health Programme that almost all pioneer State, 13 in total, have all but abandoned. Osun has made O-meals a worthy State-funded and State-run scheme now achieving its aim of boosting school enrolment, retention of students in school and reduction in truancy.

Osun State's Transition Strategy Sign Off

Last Updated on Friday, 15 February 2013 17:19
PCD board member Uwem Esiet shakes hands with deputy governor for Osun State Otunba Titilayo Laoye-Tomori at the Transition Strategy Plan sign off in Osun State

A ceremony was held on November 22 seeing the official sign-off by the Osun State Government on its Elementary School Feeding Transition Strategy Plan (TSP).

The TSP document was developed at the request of the State Government to strengthen the capacity needed to implement the state's school feeding programme effectively; to benefit schoolchildren as well as smallholder farmers.

It is the result of a joint analysis led by the Ministry of Education, Schools Feeding and Health Programme Unit and the Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with Ministry of Health, the Partnership for Child Development (PCD) and its development partners.

At the ceremony Osun State Deputy Governor, Otunba Titilayo Laoye-Tomori, PCD Nigeria Programmes Manager, Abimbola Adesanmi and PCD Board Member Uwem Esiet came together to oversee the signing.

The Osun State, Nigeria Home Grown School Feeding programme (known as the Osun Elementary School Feeding and Health Programme (O’MEALS)) was re-launched in the state on April 30 2012, which had originally been piloted in 13 states across Nigeria in May 2006, as part of the country’s Home Grown School Feeding and Health Programme (HGSFHP).

Since its re-launch the Osun State pilot immediately saw food delivered to 1,378 primary schools in Osun. This provision of free school meals works towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals, particularly those focused on Education.

One of the objectives of the O’Meals programme is to increase enrolment and retention of pupils in schools. It is aimed at improving the nutritional and health status of pupils. It is also aimed at reducing poverty and stimulating development of small and medium scale enterprises.

Since the programme was launched, it has impacted positively on school enrolment with an increase of approximately 38,000 pupils going to school; representing a 25% increment after only four weeks of its introduction.

A total of 58,540 pupils were projected to enrol as new entrants to primary level one across the state in the current academic session. However, data collected after four weeks of the school term in October 2012, revealed that a total of 86,851 pupils enrolled as new entrants in primary level one across the State. There have also been low and minimal incidences of absenteeism in schools as compared with the period before the start of the O’Meals.

Plans are currently being made to increase the number of pupils benefiting from the programme to over 252,793 pupils from 194,253 pupils in primary level four.

The O’MEALS Programme has also helped to improve the production capacities of local produce, particularly poultry farmers and beef suppliers, who supply the protein contents of the school menu. The farmers in Osun are involved in all the components of the food menu and this has led to increased prosperity for smallholder farmers.

The programme is thus far an example of best practice in providing a win-win for children and local livelihoods through the provision of school meals for improved school health and nutrition locally sourced from smallholder farmers.

You want to compare what obtained under a Pilot scheme Oyinlola really had no choice but to hesitantly embrace with the robust State-run and comprehensive effort revealed below through the O-meals website?

Do you know what the O-meals program encompasses to include investment in farming, transport, storage and much more as part of a very holistic and impressive school feeding scheme? It is Osun, because of its O meals program, responsible for almost 100% of the nutritious free school meals eaten in Nigerian schools today. Guy, you and others should try another one. Give credit where it is very due. It is good for your soul an well-being.

Home Grown School Feeding in the State of Osun
The State of Osun school Feeding Programme (O’Meals) was initiated as a pilot from the federal Government in 2006. O’Meals had progressively grown to serve 1,382 public schools with over 190,000 pupils in all the 31 LGAs in the state of Osun. As a strategy to Banish HUNGER by increasing food production, household incomes and food security in deprived communities, the O’Meals programme has become popular with the indigenes of the state of Osun.

Report by Wikipedia? Excuse me while I roll on the floor and laugh.
You would be rolling and laughing at your own ignorance. Wikipedia is not needed to predict this for progressive-minded Nigerians who follow good governance. Osun State is responsible for 80% of the school meals all Nigerian children receive in School daily. Nutritious school meals, especially in poverty-ridden nations, has been identified as a way of ensuring enrolment in school remains high and that children then stay and do well in school.

Why will children not want to go to school in Osun and why will parents not insist they go? Instead of noting what Aregbesola is doing and asking all governors, especially those in charge of much richer states, to do same in Nigeria you are here displaying your ignorance for the world to see.

If you will not believe Wikipedia then at least Senator Chukwumerije ,who is the Chairman of the Nigerian senate committee on education, has said similar when he stated that Aregbesola is presiding over a commendable education "revolution" and that all Governors should "drop their ego" and learn from him. When Chukwumerije said "whatOSun is doing can save the Nigerian education sector" he knows what he is talking about. He sees, as one example, a school feeding program only Osun is running with commitment in the entire Nation when it should be standard throughout Nigeria.

Some of you carry this enmity (ethnic/political/religious et al) too far. If not, all Nigerians would long have agreed that Aregbesola deserves commendation for what he is doing with meagre resources. Only God can forgive those who come to this forum daily to mock the real and devastating problems the likes of Aregbesola are trying to surmount to the extent the man stands out as someone staying the course while others abandon what is pivotal to children enrolling in school, staying in school, concentrating while there and leaving with quality education after ward.

Keep rolling in the floor in ignorance. The importance of what Aregbesola is doing will be seen in 10 to 20 years. Guys go and read the PDF below to know what Nigerian children are going through that Most governors do not care much about while their children are eating Gucci rice in the most expensive institutions of learning abroad. Even our west African neigbhours take school feeding program seriously to the extent, in the case of Ghana for example, they get UN aid to keep it going. Here we are pathetically playing politics and entertaining garbage. Where we should be discussing, in a serious manner, the irresponsible failure of feeding our children to keep them nourished and achieving in School some come here to mock perhaps the only Governor putting in laudable effort in this regard. May God forgive and help some Nigerians.

SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAM IN NIGERIA: A VEHICLE FOR NOURISHMENT
OF PUPILS
Isa Yunusa
Kano University of Science and Technology

Malnutrition disorders affect more than 42% of school children in Nigeria and are
responsible for 49% absenteeism of primary school age children. School Feeding Program
(SFPs) is designed to overcome malnutrition disorders through regular school-feeding to
improve the health/nutrition status and the education abilities of school children.
This paper
reviewed Home Grown School Feeding and Health Program (HGSFHP) as an innovative
approach that may boost nutritional status in the public primary schools in Nigeria and their
levels of implementation by stake holders. The paper recommends to the Federal Government
that the program should be a national policy in order to boost the literacy and
health/nutrition status in the country.
Effect of HGSFHP on Enrolment in the Public Primary Schools
As it is in some of the nations of the world such as Brazil, Philippines, Cambodia,
Mali, El Salvador, Indonesia, Ghana, Bangladesh, Ecuador where school feeding program is
in place, data indicates that the program has also increased attendance and enrolment rates
over the years (Akanbi and Alayande, 2011). In Nigeria, worthy of note and disheartening is
that out of the twelve (12) pilot States, Osun State is the only state, as at today, still
implementing the program.
All other states have abandoned it due to reasons best known to
them .
According to Garram Children’s School (2010) school feeding contributes to the
education and well-being of children. A hungry child does not grow, cannot learn as well and
faces many health risks in the future. School feeding can bring children into school and out of
hunger. School feeding responds directly to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)
related to hunger and poverty (MDG 1), education (MDG 2) and gender equality (MDG 3),
and indirectly to child mortality and maternal health (MDGs 4 and 5) (Table 1):

I could not be distracted or dissuaded because it was clear, from his well-articulated plans, that Aregbesola is a 'man of ideas'. A genuine solutions provider in a Nation that cannot boast many of such in its political space.

I knew Aregbesola would come good because of his brilliant ideas many could not understand and were naturally inclined to put down. If Osun had the money of others, Osun would even be miles better today. One thing I know from personal experience is that resources/finance may always be scarce but the man who has good ideas, and is dogged in pursuing them, will always be a winner eventually. He was awarded commissioner of the year twice while employed by Lagos State !!!

Observers who wish to rise above ignorance would have realised the man is worth supporting because of the many innovative pro-people ideas he has articulated very well and put in the public domain.

If I see good in leaders, I am never deterred supporting them. No cynicism or lies will discourage me because effective leadership that will improve the lives of Nigerians is what interests me above everything else. It is not today, even gaining insults doing so, I have been pointing out the exemplary work of Aregbesola in the education sector.
