Badman888:yea yea, it sucks but londoners dont mind! you hear too much yoruba, no probs - it gives us a sense of belonging. Canada, OMG, boring as hell, even with the big cars and houses, wide roads etc. I no dig the place. The weather self na wa. Missed London like crazy when i visited Canada and was delighted when i left. to sum it all, London rocks!! |
Cos you like what you see, functional amenities, security and you can at least afford the bare neccessities of life. No disrespect to my fatherland Nigeria, but some crop of ppl have messed up the place. Imagine ppl looting billions of pounds and dollars, what hope is there for the unconnected? Abeg, rephrase that question one time. No be everybody be senator pikin, or get papa for government. |
Comparing Lagos and London to me sounds very crazy. If you dont like London, pls stay back in your Country. Nobody forced you lot to come over. Ppl complain about the cold, my brother just try Canada, then you'll cherish the english weather. As for Paris, it's beautiful no doubt, but language barrier for me, takes the shine of the place away. Pls nobody shld bombard me with questions oh! Just saying my bit. Cheers mate! |
mubowa:Mubowa, how are you? |
mubowa:Wont trade words with you at all. I'm very content with what God has blessed me with and what He's doing in my life. I apologise Mr Bill Gates and Warren Buffet (since you're wealthier than both of them) but if you're not anyway near them, then i'm very sorry to dissappoint you COS U CANT FEED ME AND MY GENERATIONS to come. God bless you and i very much pray that He wont take what He has blessed you with cos of your mouth. This is a forum to chat and not to exhibit any uncouth behaviour. Many thanks once again Mubowa and may the peace of the Lord be with you!!!!!!! |
I know how tight things are, but just a little suggestion, can you pay 50% of your fees? And let your uncle state in his sponsorship letter addressed to the embassy that his son (your cousin) will accomodate you. By the way, the course you intend doing is a diploma course, it would have been better if it was a PGD kinda thing. Anyways, we've to look for a way out and not the gaps in between. Best of luck with your application. |
I just finished talking with a friend. And he gave me some tips - Relationship btw u and ur sponsor (Very important) - You stand a better chance if you've made a little financial commitment (pay part of your fees) - Get your cousin to write confirming he'll accomodate you and enclose neccessary docs like his status in the UK - Sufficient fund in your sponsors account (that's quiet vague, cos he told me of some1 that applied with just #750k) - Your age!!! (imagine a 26yr old going to a college) that sounds very suspicious - Benefit that will accrue to you and your sponsor Lastly, a little bit of luck and favor. PS: Just a personal opinion, hope it helps |
@gbeborun I bet you newly came to London and the place still dey move you like person wan dey drunk.

Bless u, i came to london just 5 days ago! (satisfied?) and yes, the place they shack me (abi). "Why do people disrespect London?" it's a very simple question; just answer in a civil manner instead of resorting to cheap blackmail. Pls i know u criss-cross naija by air just travel to Benin from Lagos, a journey of 300km takes you more than 7hrs to make, and if that doesnt break your heart, then i wonder what will. My point remains that Nigerians commonise things alot and are not appreciative. Agreed there's nothing special here, but the English people have done well for themselves, think we shld give them kudos for that. If London no favour you, it aint too late for you to go back. But pls dont diss. And no insults. Have a nice day and one love. |
mubowa:It's very unfortunate, simple question "Why do people disrespect London?" why all this talk of you feeding ur entire family in nigeria? I dont care if you feed your family, that's none of my business. I wonder what you do in ur so called america (anyways i cant be bothered). I stand by my comments, nigeria cant be compared to england. If u call me a bastard for saying the truth, God is watching you. Afterall, Ribadu is trying real hard to purge the likes of you in naija. Pls be civil and dont resort to name callin and bitching ok! We are all free to express ourselves. Thanks and have a nice day. PS: Try to be civil |
Radiant:u r a darlyn!!!!!!!!!! |
This whole lot started with some guys some naija sayin some misguided statement about London, home is home, i totally agree. But take a look at the country, nothing seems to work, why if i may ask? An some ppl that have never travelled will open their mouths to say some rubbish. Misguided patriotism wont remedy this situation, people should stop refering to London as an advanced Lagos. |
Radiant:Maybe i didnt get u, sorry no disrespect!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Radiant:Pls for goodness sake, why are you guys giving the piss? i wont let anyone diss London o! Anyway, i think i know why you guys have a misconstrued impression of London. I guess most of you just visit peckham, brixton, clapham etc. Abeg make una try see other posh places and then keep SHUT. Long live the Queen |
alabiyemmy:No offence and disrespect. Bling or no bling, London is simply fantastic. I'm lovin it!!! Long live the Queen!!! (Do you wish that 4 ur present president )Cheers |
alabiyemmy:Ur response is always annoying. Let the truth be told, nigerians commonize London which is not fair! Naija has lost everything, no role model, politicians are a joke, leadership is a huge joke, power supply is non existent, no security or social service!!!!!!! Tell me alabiyemmy with all these, wetin be ur esteem. Abeg come London come enjoy life small, even though u go suffer small, but naija no be am at all. Long live the Queen.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
thanks and very sorry for my ignorance. What about an upscale boutique and departmental store (supermarket if you like!) |
Just keen on having my own business along side my current job. Fellow nairaland users, what in your opinion is the smallest amount needed to start. Although i know that it partly depends on the type of business. But i'm talkin on an average level. Thanks |
Been looking at the nigerian banking sector, though it is growing around the economy, but i've been wondering what the future of zenith bank will be without their key man- Jim. What do you think? Mind you we cant afford to ignore this as most of us have shares in the bank and would definitely want our investment to grow forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() |
mubowa:I think your family is jinxed and why do you expect people to keep sending money to lazy people like you back home? You shld be working and making a living for yourself!!! Stop asking people for money ok? I can send you names of over 50,000 people making it well here and have fully established themselves back. Let me spare you, cos i know NEPA go soon take light in your beloved lagos. at least we dont compare in that regards. fatliar pls, ignore all these ignoramus people. if they think they can compare lagos with london- fine! and that's good for them. Long live the Queen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
alabiyemmy do u have to stoop so low? u dont have to insult anyone! remember it's a free world and as free men and women we have rights to express ourselves. have a nice day |
ckenneths:ethics |
alabiyemmy: swing4real:I aint defending England, i'm judging based on what i see and know. We get to know about the murder rates in england because it's in the papers, countless number of people die in naija, no record! England is not a perfect place, but at least people should stop dissing it as one of them places!!! Open your eyes and see the opportunities that abound here compared to the boot-licking you've to do in naija to get a decent job. Who knows maybe you're related to the adedibu's of this world that conspire to steal voters registration machine and use thugs to hunt innocent and law abiding citizens. Guess u can sleep well in england without fear of thieves breaking in, i think your folks have that, because they live in ikoyi prisons (sorry fortified houses!) hence you can afford to blab and not see the decay in nigeria. I rest my case. |
For me, GTBank is the better performer and the only ethical bank we have in nigeria at the moment (i stand to be corrected). Infact the recent success of their Euro-bond is an attestation to their reputation outside the shores of this country ![]() |
yes o LadyT, most of them rank in the top 10, but if u consider the number of banks in naija, then i think u shld be looking at the top 5 |
swing4real, defend Nigeria abi? Many thanks, but i wont do THAT! If a serving commisioner can be abducted and voters registration machines are being discovered in homes of political god-fathers, then i wonder what your feeble defense can do. Pls Joseph (the dreamer of course) wake up from ur sleep abi na slumber and face reality. nigeria has nothing to write home about, except for gory stories. |
jesu seun, i think Gtbank will be a good buy. I my estimation they are the only ethical bank in Nigeria at the moment. I trust their results and i dont think they indulge in any creative accounting. All the best with your investment |
Investors are concerned about the future cashflow from their investment. This comprises of Capital Gain and Dividend payment. Also note that the value of any investment is the present value of the future cashflow. With this at the back of our mind, do u see a growth from 19 to 25 naira as a good result, considering the leave of inflation in Nigeria? |
I see post like "oh, London is not what i expected", "London- advanced Lagos". Fact is people just jump to conclusions based on hearsay. I wonder why anyone in his/her right senses will compare Lagos and London, i mean in what regards? Even people that havent gotten to Heathrow will describe the airport for you! Imagine someone visiting London and saying she's bored because there's no where to visit? Haba my sister, take am easy London has got lots of nice places to see. |
I bet u guys know that 2.1 is the yardstick in use now. Even in the Uk where i reside, u cant get a graduate opportunity without having a 2.1 or a 1st! Employers want the 'best' (mind u best is in quote) be it in the public or private. Moreover i think the public sector need the quality people to grow the ECONOMY! Chikena |
Seges, if the story is true then i think it's BADLUCK for Bayelsans after enduring an ALAMing governor. I aint surprised, what do you expect from him. He seriously needs money for next year's election. |
Thanks bro, racial profiling is now the in-thing. A case at hand now is the botched or should i say alleged terror attack on transatlantic flights from London to America, all those arrested are muslims and they all have close ties to the middle-east. I dont think the God they are fighting with support such dastardly, henious and evil deeds. God help us all!!! |
All over the western world today if you happen to find yourself in an airport and the name on your passport bears any semblance to an Islamic name or you look like someone from the middle-east, security officials treat you with suspicion, you undergone extra security checks and fellow passengers are even wary of you? Is terrorism a muslim problem? |
