Music/Radio / Re: Classical Music Is Better Than Rap by gbengaijot(m): 9:48am On Feb 04, 2007
@ gbade, na wa for you ooo. Naijacutee did not say all rap are ganstar like, she actually mention that there are five of them that she only agrees with. I very much agree with her. May i ask you, what is the face of rap?, is it not the ones you see on MTV and QBase?. Are they not the ones that you see as popular?. That is the face of rap, if you dont know. THe other underground ones might be there, but they definitely do not represent rap music in the big form.

I am a lover of rap music myself, but i stopped listening and watching it about 5 years ago, when they had nothing to offer except booty dancing, bling bling and big wheels. If you notice that Nigerian music is moving to that culture as well, and i fear a great deal.

As for me, while i dont listen to classical ( i have only heard some couple of times), i think its better than rap that you can hardly hear some of them stupid rantings.

Well, why the argument in the first instance?,
lets ask ourselve how long classical music has stood the test of time, and then compare it with how long rap will fare.
Its only a matter of time, since tommorow shall tell.

@loverbwoy, from what he is saying, it seems the house are newly built.

If they are 25 minutes from Ojota, then i might as well buy a 2 bedroom , but it depends on how long they are gonna be available for.

Yeah, still waiting for answers to loverbwoy questions as well.

@HIs, i stay abroad, thats why i cant visit. I found www.refugehomes.com but the site is not really fully functional, it doesnt have any info about the said propterites as well.

I guess i will have to ring them up or something.

Coz, if Mowe is 25 minutes away from Ojota, then the 2 bedroom is definitely ool for 950K.

Crime / Re: Nigerian Youth Sentenced To Death In Singapore! NairaLanders Do Something by gbengaijot(m): 11:01am On Jan 27, 2007
I can see that some people on this thread only justify their sentiments based on information they get on this thread. Why not read www.amara-tochi.de?, why not go to www.wikipedia.com, why not search google to know what the actual story was?,

Tochi was given a bag by mr smith to deliver to his sick friend in singapore, The only thing he was told that the bag contains herbal contents, s the diamorphine(heroine) was sealed in capsule (like tetracycline capsules).

1. before his arrest, the attendant who was at the hotel where he wanted to lodge in actually told him that he will have to call the police before giving him a room, do you thinkif he is aware of what is in his bag, he won't try to conceal it?,

2. During trial, he was not allowed a visit, he was denied a lawyer initially. The Suth African lawyer who defends him was sacked for some reason.

3. While the trial was going on, one of the judges actually stated that there was no way tochi knew that the bag he was carrying contain diamorphine.

4. The singaporean government delayed his trial till he was 21 for his execution to be carried out. Under Singaporean law, at the time of the crime, he was a minor.

While i will maintain that this boy should be punished for his crime, it does not justify a death sentence at all, since he was not proven guilty.

whatever, he was murdered anyway( did i hear you say executed on just cause?)

All i know is that his innocence lives on,

Some of us only see as far as our surrounding territory. How can a 17 year old kid who hails and grew up in the remotest village of abia knows how to google?,

Lets think twice before making posts,

I still maintain that no matter what this boy has done, he has a right to live as Singapore needs to be subjected to the United nations laws.

How do you sentence people who killed others in singapore?,

x-real:

We've alot of good rappers down here whenever i watch musical presentaions on AIT and odas i always wonder what it's going to luk like trying to raise to d top because naija artist are just too many and they all seem to have their own record labels. Why? simply because they know the labels signing them them on are just trying to do them a favour and at the end they feel they are being cheated or exploited. So the concept now is release your first album through someone else's label and then establish your own with d share of your proceeds. I think this is bad for the music industry.

What do you expect?, for them to be subjected to terms and conditions under on stupid label?,
or for some stupid label(like Kennis music) to start collecting commision for shows that they perform at?,
Do you know how many labels in America?, , why should we have low number of labels in Nigeria when we can practically have a 5 man crew label!. It saves time and reduce ego of some big promoters thinking they are the only one good at stuffs!.

x-real:

Secondly, most naija videos are tight when it comes to the graphics and picture quality but their concepts are always bleeped up. Most naija musical videos has to do with some girl shaking some ass in some club or party. i fil they are 2 xplicit to been shown on national t.v

It seems like the law of zamfara has taken the better of you, lol. May i ask you, what made "candy shop" by 50 cents sold million copies?, what made "black sweat" by prince sold millions?, what made "i wanna Bleep u" by akon sold millions?, is it not booty dancing?,

What make guys like beyonce?, is it not booty dancing?,

Wel, seriously, i am not in suport of nudity on TV, but seeing girls dance in a video is not wrong as long as they do it in a mild way, hoever some Nigerian videos are guilty of this.

I will say that Not all Nigerian rappers are wack, mode 9, ruggeddy baba, 2shot, terry the rapman, Francis Dike( I can beat my chest for that guy) stands out, !

so why the heck?

I do not support Drug dealers either, neither will i glorify his actions.

* Some of us are shouting Hang hang without reading the story. I am basing my judgements and sentiments on what i read from amnesty international and from a website put up for the boy at www.amara-tochi.de .

This boy lived ina failed system, that offers no opportunities, have we forgotten that the Nigerian system failed us?, am i the only one who think that?.

While most of us are lucky to grow up in a proper environmejnt, remember that this kid grew up in a village, where they dont even know the difference between A and B.

The fact still remains that, Nigeria is still a failed system as a diplomatic efforts would have saved him from death sentence.

Of course, i still very much want him to serve a jail sentence for his actions, but not death.
Death is just out of this all!.

If you agree that he should be killed, what do you do to young americans who take guns to school and spray bullets on innocent students ?

How do u think a teenager brought up in the remotest part of Nigeria will know what weed is not to talk of cocaine.
