It all depends on her. If she is comfortable with you, she will marry you legally and leave the traditional side of things. At some point, it is up to her to decide what she wants.

You don't have a problem. If she loves you, she will make her family members understand and they can reduce themselves to understand 10. Let her know you are willing to buy everything as expected traditionally and you don't want a recurrence of your PSTD as you have complex for too many people.

You missed the point. The girl was confident and wasn't waiting for the guy to order her food. She could have been a bit conscious and ask him if he wasn't planning on getting something to eat (not sure is she asked or not).

The parents can win this by bringing the young man back, settling out of court, and claiming they thought they were doing it in his best interest. The worst then might be taking parental classes for a few months.
Those aiding the parents wouldn't bear any of the consequences. What i have learned is protect your child and don't just listen to any advice particularly those coming from back home as many do not understand the simple rules and think being abusive is the solution to raising kids properly.

That's the question they should answer. Funny though, Nigerian parents have always outsourced parenting to schools from time immemorial, at least as witnessed in my own generation.

I'm not against sending a child to school in Nigeria but be sure the child is comfortable with the idea. The child needs not be fully convinced and also let the child know that you will bring him/ her back at the end of school year if the school isn't so comfortable.

Aren't there criminals in Nigerian schools too? Haven't we read about cultism and gangster in our secondary schools? Besides, aren't there great boarding schools in the UK too? Typical of a Nigerian parent who tries to outsource their parental responsibilities.
