PoliticsRe: Tax Bills: I'm Neutral But Suspicious About The Rush To Pass Them - Dawisu by GboyegaD(m): 2:06pm On Nov 30, 2024
Image123:
Comedians. Taiwo Oyedele is the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms. He was appointed and the committee set up since July 2023. Despite the fact that Nigeria's economic problem is an emergency of sorts. This committee has taken time and detail to draft this reforms. The executive has done that bit and now presented it to the legislative to work on it. Someone says it's not the right time, when is the right, best time to make Nigeria better? Are the reforms not aimed at making our tax system better? Someone says it's too fast, what is the appropriate speed for it to pass to second reading?
He sent in the bill over a month ago, and we remember the Northern governors reaction was in October, this is end of November, tomorrow is December. Should we be proud of inefficient snail speed to do the right thing?
There's still Committee stage, then third and final reading, then signing of the bill, then president assent, then implementation. Implementation is like the very very slow part for the matter. Allow the committee stage do all the work, debate and distilling. Why do the usual Nigerian sitting on a file for no reason. Do we really want progress in this country or just our people in power?
Amused with how we throw words in Nigeria. I don't know the contents of the reforms however, the government should fix the economy first and improve the tax base. That is the only time the reforms will truly work. What I have heard in the news on these reforms focuses on allocation. Wouldn't the tax be collected before allocating?

In fact

I am not Pro-Tinubu ooo
But that is a strategy that Tinubu wants to use to weaken the influence the north has on the country's economy
Have you read the bill or you are just being sentimental and guided by the things you hear which may not be true? If the document is that bully, there's a very high probability that the phase makers haven't read it and are only voting on emotions and sentiments.

No 1 : domestic travel in Nigeria is the highest, there is no apathy of travellers, the space is undersaturated the only thing missing is an efficient airline, with gov Mbah his experience will bare good result

No2 : No business is easy running
I hear you and I wish him well. We all keep complaining of bad governance however, we keep aiding them when they embark on things we know they really shouldn't.

Think outside the box
Enugu air does not mean just flying in and out of Enugu state. It can fly the busiest route in Nigeria.

Gov Mbah s a wise entrepreneur putting his skill in governance of Enugu
Be real and sincere, what is the domestic travel by air in Nigeria and the cost of running the business? The space is saturated and there are more viable things he can engage in.

When you get to Enugu you ask,am not from Enugu but people make use of the airport .
Have you forgotten the airport is also international airport in the eastern part of Nigeria
Nevertheless, does it make it a worthy investment? Government should be about the people and not sine competition. The cost of running an airline is much and if the traffic isn't worth it, why do it?

For the records, I am from Lagos and you can find that in one of my old posts.

Back to the issue at hand, why can't you reason appropriately? Why read with a negative competition mindset? When you want to be reasonable, you can engage me.

I love this your initiative but nothing we can do about it.
We are meant to be ruled by wicked & evil fools from top to bottom, no good vision for the masses.

I supposed not to be in this wicked world with no human conscience.
No vex, the masses sef get sense? It is easy to point accusing fingers at our leaders however, we, the masses haven't proven them wrong by our thought processes/actions.

stop talking rubbish...Ibom air dey there... is akwa ibom more busy than enugu in terms of travel?
I don't understand your sense of competition. The reason is asked is to know how viable such a business will be. Many governors keto competing in the wrong way because most times we aid them because of our mediocre (I better pass my neighbor) mentality.

Timblogga:
lol this question shows you never enter plane 😋
Bros, abeg, since you dey sleep inside airplane, you go fit show me the way? As you sabi who don enter place and who never enter from just simple question wey I ask.

JudasNaKarrot:
Enugu is one of the most viable airports in this country after MM, Port Harcourt, and Kano.
It takes up to 10 passenger planes daily including International. That route is the most expensive, yet there is very high traffic daily.
The airport is not occupied by goats and cows as seen in one useless airport in one rusty roof state.
Until we stop being mediocre and competing negatively, our governors wouldn't do better. By extension, such level of negative competition also limits our potentials in life. Think more on if the business is viable than bothering yourself over unoccupied/ under utilized airports.

Happy Thanksgiving. Aren't you making a feast? We are not as the Turkey from last year is still taking space in the freezer and I'm sure we wouldn't eat it again.
I bought duck and I'm brining it at the moment and would bake it later in the day. I hope they enjoy it when I'm done cooking.

You would get to Morocco easily through Senegal to Mauritania and then western Sahara.....the other route is through mali which is still closer than Niger.
I don't know anything about the traveling. I was only stating that from his message, the human traffickers have the route they go through perhaps due to porous borders along that route.

Was wondering same.....why would someone who is from Gambia end up in Niger to get to Morocco.....also,how can a man in distress be able to concern himself with the problems of not one but several ladies and you were able to help them all escape commando style.
Human trafficking. It might not be possible to go the shorter route however, there's a trans African route already mapped out where the borders are porous.
My understanding.

You still don't get it, we ain't talking about kinsmen we are talking about people from different locality but speak same language. For example you can have people from different LGAs speaking same language but have nothing to do with been related. So what is the issue of kinsmen popping up
You are the one not reading my message right. Please, take a back step and read it again.

If that's not what people from that locality spend when they come for a wife I will take a walk.

Some ethnic group once they know you are not from there they will abandon how they wedding and bring a special list for an outsider. That's very bad, most people in that locality can not afford that
Perhaps they believe the community raises a child as such, if you are a kinsman, you must have contributed to her upbringing and if you are an outside, you contributed nothing to her upbringing.

The "stepfathers" got me! Like the mama married many husbands and the poor guy must settle all of them with drinks and cash. So very funny.
I look forward to the day the National Assembly will abolish it. The reason is because most Nigerian men think their wives are items in their homes and not human enough as them.

That said, the current day inflation added to the cost nonetheless, what is it with other people asides the parents on the list? Shouldn't it be one family?

Quite popular. My director and senior director are examples.
In graduate school, I had a colleague who she and her husband believed they couldn't raise a child properly while many decided one kid is good. I guess it is just about preference but anything after two na work because two sef na serious work.
