It's the fault of some shortsighted EPL fans who overrated the English national team before the tournament and now they're paying the price. Let him gloat all he wants.

Again Wikipedia is the source of your confusion. Wikipedia isn't always right and the authors of the pages sometimes mix up a lot of information they don't know much about. It's people like me and you that put the information there and anyone can edit it. Why don't read something else for once and stop posting the same images like a robot?

The "Campeonato Brasileiro Série A " started in 1971. Click on 1971 or any year after that and you'll find league tables because that was when the Brazilian league was created. Why was there a league table in 1971 but none in 1962 or 1963? grin

From the link click on those years (1962, 1963 etc) you said Pele won "league titles" and tell me if you'd find any league table. There's none because what he was winning weren't simply league titles. They were various tournament/championships because they Brazil didn't have a league then. Wikipedia lists the winners of those championships because they were the important ones to win when Brazil didn't have a league and you foolishly thought they were league titles.
Pele did not win those "league titles" as you falsely claimed. I think Wikipedia is what is helping you get confused. You have no idea what a league title is. I told you so but you wouldn't listen.

Bykebyke show us the league table Santos (Pele's team) topped to win the league in 1962 or 1963 etc. There is none.

A league didn't exist in Brazil then. Winning a championship or tournament is different from winning a league title. How can you be so daft not to know this?

A league usually consists of a table with each teams facing each other home and away over the course of a season. That's what a league is and it's obvious you simply didn't know.

Why have you failed to prove what Pele won as "league titles"? You meant Pele won "league titles" and you were the only that knew about that?

Is it really that difficult? Why not simply post just a single link to a credible article that described what Pele won as "league titles" and I'll move on and accept I got floored. I have done that in the past and I'll do that again if I'm proven wrong. It's that simple.

You simply can't do this because you were always wrong in the first place. Nothing you say now or in the future would ever change that.

@SailorXY, Moyes who gave Rooney his fat contract, LVG who insisted his captain must always play, and now Roy Hodgson are 3 coaches who've failed ridiculously due a lot of factors but the major one in common is the Rooney factor. Mourinho would very likely end up the same way if he follows their path. Rooney is simply finished and should be moved on from. We would never have any real form of progress with this guy still around. It's the truth.

You need to know what is a league title or even a title. Those tournaments/championships are simply not "league titles". They are even closer to analogues of cups like the FA or Copa dey rel in Spain. Do your research and find out the formats of these events and how they're won. I've even taken the time to explain to you how those competitions were but you are just screaming everywhere "league titles" when there was no such thing far back then.

Tournaments like the FA cup in England are even older than the PL or most divisions but it simply cannot and will never be referred to as a "title"

Those tournaments in Brazil are simply not "league titles" and that's why I've maintained your assertion is false from the beginning.

If we were to go by the absurdity of your logic, then the "Torneio Rio – São Paulo" should even be the league title because it was by far more prestigious and the most difficult to win of the local tournaments in Brazil. So basically Pele, never had more than 6 titles even in total. He won at least 10.

Brazil due to the size and geography of the country didn't have a unified league in Pele's time(I won't go deep into this). I'm certain you didn't know this. What you listed as 6 Brazilian league titles are not exactly the league titles of today.
Even going by that you erroneous assertion, you're still wrong. Pele won his first "Campeonato Brasileiro Série A" ( or Brazilian league titles according to you) in 1961. Pele won born in 1940. Do the math and watch yourself get embarrassed.

Messi has a poor mentality to be honest. I'm disappointed in him. There's simply no justification for the things he said recently and the quitting from his national team. It goes beyond just footballing ability; Messi doesn't or simply cannot inspire his teammates like Maradona or Cryff at the highest level. I bet those guys would've had more success in this current Argentina team than Messi. Messi fanboys should stop with these the silly excuses like Hinguain. Some people achieved more with poorer players. I can't just find any excuse for Messi currently. It's pretty obvious; He's not the same player in Barcelona and his national team and we all know why.

When I was pointing out in this thread previously that most Barcelona folks are simply getting ahead of themselves to place Messi in a conversation of GOATs like Pele or Maradona, they thought i didn't know what was saying and even winning the COPA wouldn't have changed that. Currently he simply doesn't belong there to be fair.

I think he'll come out of retirement in time for Russia 2018. It would be his final international tournament and I'll be wishing him Goodluck.

The referee saw through all that easily and Messi got booked rightfully and i think that was one of the very few decisions this referee has gotten right.

Kroos is excellent but sincerely i'd rather have Modric in my team. Modric appears to be a level above Kroos when they play together and it's not a slight on Kroos (who sometimes isn't in his best postion) but it's because Modric is that good or better.

This exactly is why alot would say there is no need to compare players from different generations.

This is a whole load of nonsense. You don't need to invent excuses for Messi not being as great as Pele. It's ridiculous even for me as a fan of Messi.
I could give you excuses that players in Pele time had it much more difficult because football rules then were such that the top players were heavily fouled and a lot of tackles used then would be illegal currently. Pele literally got kicked out from a World cup due to this; He was fouled so severely that he became terribly injured and couldn't go on with the tournament. I could give even better excuses and this is a cycle that could go and on, so such stuff are quite redundant in determining greats.
I told you Pele was light years ahead of his time but it seems you're in doubt and that's why you'd say this. The biggest stage is the world cup and Messi has failed to delivered there to be considered GOAT. It's the same reason folks like Di Stefano who both Pele and Maradona refer to as the best, or Platini who had excellent club career and showed amazing consistency, Cruyff who influenced football more than anyone in his time etc are not mentioned in the same breath as Pele, or even Maradona. The CL is too small a stage compared to the world cup. Regardless Pele dominated both club football and internationally.
Most young people think the only reason Pele is considered above Messi is because he has 3 world cup wins which is a lot of bull crap. They simply do not know enough of him. Take your time, do some good research and study.

The media of today is enough to kill a player's career. Media hype and all that pressure has killed lots of players.
