seanet02: NO vacancy at EKITI
Seriously?

I think Fayemi is too laid back

If he was in some other region, he could easily be the best performing governor (raising his IGR to over N1bn per month from almost nothing and attracting some valuable investment) but he doesn't seem to move at the SW pace

He should take a cue from Aregbesola otherwise there will be vacancy in the state house

It is a known fact that Onitsha and Aba are the dirtiest cities in Africa

Enugu is also quite dirty

I don't know if it has to do with the people or their culture but the dirties cities are in the SE while the cleanest are in the North

The SW is somewhere in between

To me I'm not bothered who associates with who

I've lived in PHC and Warri before and even today in Lagos, each time I come across an Ikwerre person, I jocularly tease them by saying 'you're Igbo right?' and the vehemence of their denial is always startling

Unless you're an Ikwerre person, and I know no Ikwerre person in 2013 will proudly say he/she is Igbo

Why do you guys like forcing associations?

You call yourselves Jews, you claim Ikwerres are Igbos, you claim Ibibios and Efiks are Igbos

This is all your selfish expansionist strategy

How many times have you seen Yorubas claim that Bini or Itshekiri people are Yorubas?

The connection is obvious but we aren't forcing any relationships with them

When you see the likes of Jim Ovia in the Forbes list, you call him Igbo but when some Delta Igbo folks are involved in crime, you quickly dissociate yourselves

kettykin: Why are you turning the truth upside down
Below is a link showing the co relationship between airport traffic and GDP
http://www.boeing.com/boeing/commercial/cmo/methodology.page
Are yorubas not in niger delta , North and abuja, the last time yoruba traders were killed in far away volatile borno state
You can read several article on how the gdp of a city co relates with airport traffic it is not a nigerian thing but has a world wide occurrence
How many Yorubas live outside Yorubaland compared to Igbos that flee there erosion ravished zone?

Airports don't create magical GDP figures

Airports are based on human, cargo and military demands

Most humans from the SW live in the SW because the region is self sustaining

Most cargos come through the seaports with Lagos controlling over 85%

All military airports are situated within airports

And if I should add this, the passenger traffic in Lagos Airports alone is more than traffic from all other airports combined (excluding Abuja)

What this tells you is that Lagos is the hub and other airports for domestic travel have their destinations as Lagos and Abuja

If Lagos is easily accessible by every state in the SW, why should the states have their airports?

omonnakoda: There are companies in Nigeria that occupy NO MORE than one floor of a multi storey building doing more business than the whole of Onitsha market with Zero Cash transacions
The biggest market in Nigera, the stock Exchange has ZERO cash transactions. ZERO . So please quit this silly idea that the more banks on a street the richer it is. Alaba does more cash deals probably than Shell or Mobil So what. Onitsha probably does more cash deals that Apple,Facebook and Google combined. So bleeping what? What does that prove?.
To them, until they see physical cash, its not money or a means of exchange

kettykin: If you had checked you would have realised that ibadan has an airport with big enough run way but records very minimal appalling, dissappointing and disgraceful domestic flights despite its claims of being the largest city or slum in Africa , having the 5th biggest economy im Nigeria, the domestic airport traffic of ibadan airport is more appalling than the dismal sales figures of shop rite in ibadan.
Enugu is about 1hour from port Harcourt which has an international airport about 45 minutes from imo airport and about an hour from Asaba airport but Enugu international airport traffic is consistent and regular while the domestic flights are 10000 times better than the ibadan domestic flights
Do you think critically before you post?

What makes those airports viable? Simple. Demand

At least one in three Igbo people don't live in Igboland because of the poverty in the region

In Yorubaland, you rarely find people who live outside their region so what's the point building an airport for people who a really travel domestically? The region is self sustaining economically unlike the East.

Why should a man in Osun, Ekiti or Oyo need an airport when they don't travel from there to other places in the country but internationally which Lagos serves?

Ibadan is a failure in a yorubaland.
This guy quit displaying your ignorance here

GDP is usually calculated annually

If within a year, Osun State industries produced more and generated more income, should we they now say Onitsha made money because it has the biggest market?

Let me make it as simple as possible for you, if you have a shop that sells cars and I have a shop that sells planes and each of my planes is worth like ten cars, if at the end of a year, I sell one plane and you sell twenty cars, isn't it obvious that the GDP of your company is greater than mine? If you can't understand it this way, then I can't help you

The per capita isn't a function of progress. It's dependent of two parameters and population plays a vital role

Qatar for instance has a higher per capita than USA and Japan but its no where close to the USA in terms of wealth

Anyways like I said earlier, these are figures for 2012 and I have the ones for 2013 which shows a much improved per capita for Ogun state following the creation of more jobs

As a matter if fact, the GDP of Ogun State for Q1 2013 is higher than that of any SE state making four states of the SW surpass the SE states in terms of GDP

Ogun State generates N4bn in IGR every month which is far higher than what any state in the SE currently generates

BusinessRe: Nigeria's Cocoa Production Rises By 28%, Now Largest Non-oil Export Earner by geeez: 9:58am On Sep 16, 2013
demelza: The amount of cocoa processed in Nigeria is negligible compared to its production. For example, out of 200,000 tonnes of cocoa produced, only 60000 tonnes will be processed here while the remaining 140,000 will be exported.
Reasons for this are poor power supply, high interest rates, duty tax imposed on processed cocoa by the EU-Economic Patnership Agreement amongst others. Besides our domestic consumption is very insignificant and consists almost exclusively of cocoa powder used in beverages.
Companies like Cadbury have their own cocoa processing firm i.e Stanmark Cocoa processing but they still import to meet their quota.
You're correct but if we can only have stable supply of electricity, we can build a chocolate city in the SW became cocoa as chocolate is in high demand across the globe

If we set our minds to this sustainable FOREX earner, it can displace oil as the leading produce from Nigeria in no time

As more nations discover oil and as fuel efficient systems are built and alternative/renewable sources of energy are deployed, the black gold will gradually become black water in no time (maybe another 50-100yrs)

We need to plan for the future and look for sustainable means
