My 1st night in Johannesburg at Holiday Inn Johannesburg Sunnyside, with very beautiful expansive grounds and of better standard than majority of hotels in Europe and the US but at a much lower cost. My target is not to spend more than $1,250 for the 9 days (for flight tickets, hotels and feeding) @NaijaTraveller

Good morning, Nairalanders. I am currently in South Africa on a 9-day solo vacation. It has been on my mind for some time now to share how I have been able to take regular international vacations (solo and with wife and children) - sometimes 8 times in a year, without necessarily spending a fortune. I hope I will be able to enlighten a few people and help them actualise their travel dreams before my interest in this mission wanes. I will start by posting a few photos from when I departed Lagos last week Thursday to Jo'burg, then 2 Durban for 2 nights, and now in Cape Town for 4 nights, before returning to Jo'burg on Friday for 2 nights and back to Lagos next Sunday, by the grace of God. Anyone who is interested should feel free to ask me any travel-related question and I will attempt to answer, and if unable to, at least point you in the right direction. I have over 30 years international travel experience but because I am still in full-time employment, have only visited about 50 countries, so excuse me if I do not have all your answers. Stay safe all. @NaijaTraveller

Do not despair - investment in education, and from a good school like Babcock Uni, is never wasted. Be grateful to have had parents who saw potentials in you to have made that big investment. Now the rest is up to you and God. What is the common theme you come across at interviews that you feel you didn't answer properly? Always ask your interview panel when they ask you for questions: what specific attributes are required for this role? Take their response very seriously - and use that to upskill. I had a young mentee who schooled at Babcock Uni also. Six months before his graduation, the company he did 6 months internship with pleaded with him to accept an offer of employment. He refused, but they persisted anyway that he only needed to attend 1 hour meetings online every Friday and was paid at the end of the month. As soon as he informed them he had graduated, he was made a Team Leader. Less than 1 year later, he was employed by a Software company in Texas, and is today working with a Fortune 500 company. Again, don't despair - fix your personal relationship with God, network with your colleagues who have moved ahead, identify your gaps, close them. Remember: the journey is not for the swift... May you finish well, in Jesus name. |
Lucky you - I bought over 100k units in 2014 at N33+ I have simply refused to sell since - what's the point? If it gets beyond N10, I will probably just exit kpatakpata. I just stick with Nigerian companies with sensible corporate governance and US and European markets now.Well done all. You are doing well! leparj: |
VoidLife7:I am about to log out. My suggestion is that priority one will be to get her to enrol for JAMB / UTME asap, taking advantage of the extension - who knows if it was done for her? She can continue to improve on her sewing skills acquisition while in school, to expand her options in life, as long as it won't disturb her studies. I am currently out and will not want to be known but can arrange for funds transfer for her JAMB registration once your story is confirmed. |
God bless you and everyone here who has offered to support. If you will coordinate, I will be happy to support once the story is confirmed to be true, to assist this young lady get a chance at a good life. I am willing to support her through University if she is willing to take and pass her UTME, by the mercies of God, seeing as she is quite intelligent and industrious - with what the OP said about her WAEC grades. OP should tell the Mum that there are some faceless individuals offering to support them; and that the Mum should not jeopardise the child's future by marrying her off to a certainly dark future. Please dm me once the story is confirmed to be true so we can arrange to videochat with the OP and his sister and take it from there. I will try to check this space at least twice weekly for updates. PS: I just saw that some people e.g. @gaby had already proposed educational support - God bless you too. I will be happy to partner with you all. I'm quite busy and no time to read through all the comments so far. dawoyo: |
In my opinion, anyone earning above N1mln monthly in Nigeria should not think of relocating abroad "for a better life". I have a good job, I have been travelling overseas multiple times annually for over 2 decades now (for vacation and work) and can assure you that 99% of my friends and family members (with good jobs!) abroad cannot afford my family's lifestyle here in Nigeria. I have even had cause to reject cross postings in the past. I believe strongly that Nigeria will soon improve and those who have japa-ed will struggle to return. Please let's all do our parts to shun corrupt acts and vote wisely for those who have a track record of not appropriating our collective wealth to themselves and their cronies... that is a pointer to the ones with a sincerity of purpose. Nigeria shall be great in our lifetime! |
First, be very clear that those credits are not validly yours. Then send an email to Access bank complaining about the unusual credit alerts (for documentary evidence). Keep a good daily record of these credits - this record may save you legally in future. To avoid future stories that touch, DO NOT ACCESS ANY FUNDS THAT ARE NOT LEGALLY YOURS. |
The amount of money to save before quitting your current job will depend on a couple of factors, viz: 1. Your current salary and your satisfaction with your current job; 2. Your current lifestyle and monthly maintenance cost (including rents, if not living in your own property); 3. Your dependants - spouse? Kids? Parents? Siblings? The more dependants you have, the more money you will have to save to avoid disrupting your equilibrium which can cause you to regret leaving your job. 4. How long you have been running the business you are planning to go into full-time. Do you know the new business well and have you made the mistakes or yet to? 5. Your new business running costs - you should be able to fund the running of the new business for at least 6-9 months; 6. Your support structure. If you have a solid support structure, especially from family, you can do with less money saved before breaking out. Having a dependable business partner will be very valuable here. A good business feasibility study should be done and worst case scenario planning done before you leave. But above all, God's purpose should first be sought. I have a colleague who about 7 years ago, had saved and invested enough to keep his family going for 2 years without any major lifestyle change (family maintenance, church / ministry support, 3 adult children's school fees to post-graduate degrees, annual family vacations overseas etc) but still in paid employment (and continuing to save). His target is 15 years family support maintaining current status, God being with him. I hope this helps? |
Are you the owner or selling on behalf of the owner? And where is car located so inspection can be arranged? |
I have done my part - pls take the widow's portion to her as soon as you can today, so she can prepare some food for herself and her kids today. And no names, please. God bless you! faseblex: |
Please delete the Giver's name! This is why it scares some to give - anonymity is key. Urgent action please. Next time, xfer will be done via ATM.... sugarleen: |
At 1:25pm, I only saw 3 qualified but I have chosen a few others (though unqualified) in addition. God bless you all with divine opportunities for your honesty. @Faseblex, pls post your acct no, so you can withdraw half and give to your widow friend you mentioned and keep half for yourself. Please live right in the fear of God and He will make 2021 glorious, in Jesus name. geegee08: |
Happy New Year all! To help some start 2021 positively and to put smiles on some faces, I have been wondering all morning how to give small funds anonymously to a few widows in NL, in genuine need... I will appreciate any instruction on how my post can come out as "Nobody" or "Anonymous" or any other title but my profile name. If you are a widow with young kids and your Crossover prayer was for God to send you urgent help so your kids will have food to eat today, please indicate below before 12 noon Nigerian time. If you don't fit into above, PLEASE don't raise your hand. Be aware that God sees us all. I will log back in 1 hour's time to select the first 10 I can confirm to be genuine, with your assistance to call out frauds. By the mercies of God, 2020 was my best year yet and I pray that 2021 will even be better for all of us, in Jesus name! PS: in addition to above criteria, you should have a bank acct to receive transfer. |
Some posts suggest that all is not well "up there" - I simply pray for the writers of such, as I see their use of language as a deep cry for help. May God show mercy and restore them. Thanks to all those who have been making very productive contributions here. Many of us read, take action and appreciate you, even if we don't comment. God bless you! Back to stealth mode. ☺ |
I just saw this now - many months later. Thanks but God continues to show me great mercies. So helping people in need is a privilege. May God cause you to be celebrated, in Jesus name. Beatswim: |
The greatest poverty is lack of love for one's neighbour and that's what is here displayed. May God help us emancipate ourselves from mental, spiritual, and physical poverty, in Jesus name. Then and only then will true financial riches be attracted to one. |
I sense serious trust issues here. Is it possible he suspects you are spending beyond your "legitimate" source of income? Or that you are receiving funds from wrong people? What type of lives did you both live before marriage? Being open with both your finances will help keep both of you in the straight and improve trust. If however after his knowing your worth, you see him trying to waste your savings, then I will suggest you reassess your relationship and whether it is worth remaining in the marriage. |
My wife doesn't know exactly how much I earn. We live very comfortably, I give her more than enough money monthly for home and her personal upkeep and we go on family vacations overseas with the kids once or twice yearly; but because she doesn't share my drive to save for the future, I deliberately keep her in the dark about my full worth, while continuing to save for our retirement and to be able to continue to pay for our children's education without stress. |

Hello Jaid, please can you advise the cost of clearing the below cars at the Lagos port? Kia Sorento / Sportage 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017. Hyundai Santa Fe 2013 - 2016.
