In the current market conditions of Nigeria nowadays, is it better to play in the premium segment or mass market?

I mean, some brands play premium (their earnings model is based on higher brand value and higher GM - gross margin e.g Cocacola, Pampers), while others play to the volume (lower GM, but higher volume e.g. indomie, molfix, Bigi Cola)

What's your take on this guys? (Sorry I'm putting it on this thread)

2. Competition is stiff all round but most especially for EH cadre because interview scores are close and about 5 to be selected per state and about 8 in oil producing states.
3. No consideration for CBT scores as they were aggregated as just pass on their database
4. It’s all down to fine margins.
5. Selection is being worked on now and we should hear from them by early August

I understand this -- this is why I can still remain calm and perform well under pressure. I once held my urine for 4hours(due to lack of a safe & clean restroom close-by) and went to check my result. Even though I had an F in a 3-unit Mechanics of Machines course, my boxers remained dry.

I have good communication skill. As much as i cannot promise to be an encyclopedia of all knowledge, I am well-rounded and can comfortably hold my own. We could effortlessly discuss some things currently happening in the country, flash-back to the circumstances surrounding the last general elections if that's what you want, and smoothly transition to why Jon snow stabbed Deanerys Targaryen.

Lastly, I have a propensity to leave things better than I met them. The same will apply here even if I get a placement in a shrine.

My Treasure hunt for atleast a decent place of Internship (penultimate production engineering student) lured me to the unfamiliar terrains of Jobs/Vacancies section. And before I could learn where and where not to step foot, I tripped and came crashing down hard into this place -- fortunately.


As I was collecting myself from the ground, slapping dust from my bruises and trying to make my way back up from where I had fallen, I looked around. Not bad. So I decided to explore a little.

Thank God I did.

I've so far read many of the pages - of course not all, not even close -- but more than enough to satisfy my curiosity. It's great to see a lot of high achievers who've done really well for themselves in life --- all made possible by the work they've put in and maybe some interventions here and there from the universe. Nice!!

I am inspired. I truly wish you all greater heights. As Newton was only able to see further by standing on the shoulders of Giants who came before him, I pray & hope you guys become giants in your own accord, so others coming in line can also stand on your shoulders too.

1. People who have not been paid - will support "Llaride's Hypothesis"... payment connotes disqualification from the process.

2a. People who have been paid - will support "Flowwolf09's hypothesis"... payment connotes a further shortlist.

2b. Then there's Farouk's hypothesis...still an offshoot of flowwolf's... Farouk Alert = Shortlist..while Ayam equals disqualification..

I agree with your posts. At this point, the only valid news one can get from a legitimate source is your interview score.

Most people here who mentioned their interview score have a valid source. And what those source will tell you is "just pray and be hopeful".

APL vs TF...even in 10th floor NNPC towers..no real news, just rumours.

A resignation letter is effective immediately it is recieved- I do not totally accept this statement.

1) When you resign, it is important you categorically state your effective date. It is not just by sending a mail that you are not doing again except you work in a one man business. Multinationals have rules.

2) Some jobs require a 3months or 2months or 1 month or 2weeks notice and which is usually stated in the employment letter including consequences of not honouring such.

3) Third. Some companies have further clauses which are specific to such companies alone. Example of which I mentioned earlier. E.g. you can't resign while on leave. This is a company custom made rule. It doesnt relate to all companies.

4) I mentioned it here so pple can learn. It happened to me. I sent in my resignation while on my annual leave in one of the banks earlier this year. And the HR business partner called to remind me of the contract I signed and how I can't resign while on leave including the consequences and the best way to go about it should in case i ultimately do not want to return back to work after my leave.

5) That is why I adviced the person who asked that question to refer to the company HR so as to be appropriately guided. I even mentioned he/she liaise with a trusted friend in the HR. Sometimes when you mention such, they immediately start monitoring you closely in some organisations so it has be done discreetly except you are ready to damn the consequences.

I think the mistake I made is how I put it. Still, a resignation letter cannot be rejected by your employer.

That's sacrosanct in all international labour laws. It's an employment, not slavery. Of course, every company has custom rules guiding the resignation process. The most common is that "you must give some months notice OR pay in lieu.

Emphasis - or pay in lieu of notice. The thing is that, no matter the custom rule of an organisation, if you decide to walk away today, you CANNOT be held back, albeit, you will pay some fines.

Any company law that contravenes the provision of the national labour law shall be null and void to the extent of its inconsistency.

Employer-employee agreement is one of mutual agreement. No offer letter shall restrict an employee freedom of movement, acceptance or rejection..there can only be clauses and fines.

PS: I work in a multinational too ...lol e no relevant jare

PS PS: You can resign by saying "I resign" (not in a state of anger sha). Writing letters is mostly for documentation..

The reason is this. Some banks in Nigeria (Can't mention names pls) do not permit a staff to resign while on leave. They 'll reject your resignation letter. They will also debit you for the days off work if you remain adamant on resigning while on leave and they can also refuse to provide you with a reference letter. I don't know if that is a right or bad thing to do by the banks. But at least i am telling you from experience. So be guided in case you work with a bank but all the same it's best to check with a trusted friend in your HR or HCM department or division.

Generally, a resignation letter is effective immediately it is received. The employer cannot reject it and you cannot withdraw it except by mutual agreement.

Take 1 month for your leave, Stay for 1 month (August to September maybe) and Pay for 1 month.

In 2019, you can get a funded MSc with the right information and patience.

If I were in your shoes, after resuming for NNPC (based on your assumption), I will wait for a year or two, then discuss with my line manager about taking a study leave. Then I will go to Canada for my MSc.

Bebrief was an active member of the naijahotjobs NNPC thread. He was one of those who followed through until we received APL. He was loved on the thread for his maturity and tenacity.

The day we were asked to elect a president, 3 or 4 people were nominated. He introduced himself as bebrief and everyone in the auditorium was shouting bebrief! bebrief! bebrief!

The election took place and he won convincingly.

That was how he became the president. A lady was the vice (can't remember her name).

The Management of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is pleased to offer you employment as a Graduate Trainee (CHEMICAL ENGINEERING) on a Consolidated Annual Salary of N1,560,000.00 per annum on the Corporation's Salary Grade, SS6. The fringe benefits which include Housing Allowance are payable annually. Other terms of this employment are as contained in the NNPC's Conditions of Service. You are required to assume duty compulsorily on Monday 6th August, 2012.
