Christianity EtcRe: Rev Fathers Protest Stealing Of The Blessed Sacrament From The Church In Lokoja by gemale(m): 10:36am On Aug 13, 2017
WINDSOW:
How can the body of Catholics place a huge adoration for an object-Blessed sacrament. This is idolatry. If it aint Jesus, it's nothing. - (ex-catholic)
But it is Jesus. If you read the bible, you would know that what you call it (the host) is the body of Jesus Christ. Unless you can claim that Jesus was joking when He said at the last supper "take & eat, this is my body which would be given up for you". If you were indeed a catholic, you don't know what you have lost. Hurry back to the fold & resume dining at the Lord's table. What you call nothing is what Jesus spoke about in the Gospel of St John chapter 6 "unless you eat the body of the son of man and drink His blood, you have no life in you", "whoever eats my flesh & drinks my blood has everlasting life & I would raise him up on the last day", "whoever eats my flesh & drinks my blood abides in me & i in him" etc. After Jesus made these statements, the wheat was separated from the chaff. Many said "this is a hard saying" & left while the true followers remained. In what category do you fall into? Let your conscience be your judge. The belief of the presence of Jesus, body & blood, soul & divinity is 1 of the ways 1 can know whether he/she is following Jesus because of perishable bread & fish or because as St peter said when asked by Jesus why he didn't leave with those fair weather followers "to whom do we go to? You have the word of eternal life". When the host is lifted up, doesn't the words of Jesus Christ to Nicodemus in john 3 resonate within you "just as Moses lifted up the bronze serpent in the desert so must the son of man be lifted up so that whoever looks unto Him may have life eternal"? Ask God to anoint your eyes with salve that you may see beyond mere unleavened wafer to behold our Lord Jesus Christ in His glory & be transformed to His image.

Dont be clever by half. There is a gulf of difference in hiring mercenaries to fight your war and inviting state employed Israeli trainers to train your troops.
Really? Kindly explain the difference. Wouldn't they still be paid. Isn't it still a pointer that our military is terribly inept? Why do we have the NDA then? If it was the Israeli defense force, mossad, SAS or any nation's intelligence and special operations forces that was training us, it would have been better. Jonathan was even better because he was using it to wage an offensive. Even the US used PMCs in iraq & afghanistan. They could prove useful in certain black ops & gray area situations because they are not as bound to certain rules of engagement as military personnel. Please when have you heard any sensible country employing mercenaries to train her military? To add insult to injury, they are being trained in security of bases. A whole branch of armed forces cannot provide adequate security for its own bases? We are blind to shame in Nigeria.

Thanks be to God but in reality where under this heaven do this guy get dressed up with this death sentence suicide belt? Is it not possible for the army to interrogate those who failed in their attempt of suicide bombing and were arrested to tell the army the real location where they got dressed up for this killing business?
It is my assumption that they operate by compartmentalized terror cells. Money is probably given to the would be bombers to rent an apartment & they are either supplied with ready made vest (more likely) or with materials to make them. Their liaison would likely be difficult to trace because he wouldn't be permanently based in the area.

A dog's nose is at least 50 times more sensitive than a human's. So training a dog to detect such a smell isn't as herculean as you think.

When I got home after school and worshipped in my church, I was so happy with how the sermon was preached and I wish I could carry my church to school and start hearing sermons that will help my spiritual growth
You ask if you can speak with him alone concerning something bothering you & without sounding judgemental admonish him to desist from those undesirable traits citing scripture to encourage him to talk more about God than himself. Remind him that we all are nothing but beneficiaries & stewards of grace and nothing we have is by power or might but by the Spirit of God. Mt chapter 6 should be referred to as a reminder for him not to showcase his piety before men as all we do is the service of God, who is our ultimate rewarder. Don't forget to pray asking the Holy Spirit to minister through you and to soften his heart before approaching him. Don't try & argue with him. If he acts headstrong, deliver your message quickly & keep quiet afterwards. Hear him out & when he finishes, take your leave. Most of all, put him in prayer.
CareerRe: Naf Commences Training Of 450 Special Forces by gemale(m): 8:47am On Aug 01, 2017
It's a commendable move that other nations have since embraced. Each branch of armed forces should have a certain degree of self sufficiency in combat matters. A shining example is the united states armed forces. The army has its own air corps, the navy has the marine corps, which is an amphibious mini branch, the SEALs for special operations & air units that fly both fixed & rotary winged aircrafts. However, the publicity is what i frown at. Special operations isn't something you go about announcing. Training should be conducted as covertly as combat ops are. The only people entitled to know are the necessary participants, organizers trainers. Even the trainees should only be alerted when they report. Also, the training emphasis should have included the ability of the successful participants to retrain others. We can't keep calling foreign mercenaries to train our military. It's not only shameful but dangerous.

I don't think there's any reason to justify why the head of a church could possess those disgusting traits
He didn't justify IMO. He's just trying to say that the pastor is also a man hence, he isn't perfect. We need to stop looking unto men of God & start looking unto God. Cursed is any man who leans on the arm of flesh. The little time i've spent in my walk with God has shown me how imperfect & weak i am hence how can i judge another human being? The Op should have tried calling the man aside & telling him respectfully what he has observed. Who knows if God would have used him to call the man to order? If not, at least he would have done his part.

I didn't want to comment initially because i didn't want to come across as self-righteous but i have to because to not do so is to stand aside & not publicize the grace of God & power of the cross that weaned me off this addiction & keeps me away from it everyday. It wasn't & isn't by my power, will or might because i am a weak, wretched man but solely by God's grace that i was delivered from that sin. The day i stop leaning on God's ever abundant grace & strength, i would fall but that shall not be my portion in Jesus' name. You say masturbation isn't a sin? Ask yourself, what drives 1 to masturbate? Isn't it lust for the opposite sex? Isn't lust of the flesh? Are we as followers of Christ supposed to walk in the flesh or in the Spirit (romans 8:1,6)? Study Galatians 5:16-23. The works of the flesh is juxtaposed with the fruits of the Spirit. Was masturbation listed as 1 of the fruits we are called to bring forth? Wasn't it Jesus who said that lusting after the opposite sex is adultery/fornication (Matt 5:28)? The urge to have carnal knowledge burns in our members & because we can't slake it that moment or because of convinience, we decide to touch our bodies so as to achieve gratification. Isn't that us defiling our bodies? Isn't it written that our bodies are the temple of God & a judgement of destruction awaits whoever defiles his body? Saying masturbation is natural might be true for a carnal man because he is ruled by the desires of the flesh but we that are Christ's have crucified the flesh & its lusts thereof. Therefore any Christian in heart & act not just in mouth mortifies his body through the Spirit, bringing it & its desires under subjection because to be subject to the desires of the flesh leads to death & corruption (1cor 9:27, rom 8:13, rom 8:6, galatians 6: cool. Be not deceived, whatever 1 can't do without has power over 1 & 1 is a servants to what has power over 1 (romans 6:16). That's the reason why it seems so difficult to stop masturbation hence the rationalization of it as normal & something 1 can't just stop is deployed to assuage the guilt that comes from it. The only way out is a total surrender to God because we can of our own do nothing. We need to deny ourselves, pick up our cross & follow Jesus every moment of our lives & be crucified with Him (galatians 2:20).Prayer, Spirit - led bible study & fasting is needed. The Holy Spirit then teaches us how to crucify the flesh and die to self (the womb & root of all sins). This is a continuous process & can sometimes be painful but He would always avail perseverance to us. The peace of Christ Jesus abide with you.

The bottom line is to understand that 1 are just an instrument. Nothing more. Serving God is a privilege so 1 should never feel entitled to anything. Just reflect the glory of the Lord that the Holy Spirit deposited in you & let all glory go to Him. Verily, 1 shall not lose his reward.

I seriously pity that person who doesn't want to pay that money back. He is very myopic. He doesn't realize that another problem even bigger that the last 1 might take him back to that person again. In exchange for mere 11k that mostly likely can't last him for a month, he has traded integrity, friendship, trust, goodwill & even a portion of his soul. It seems he lacks the fear of God & is ignorant of the fact that there is a special curse 1 attracts when 1 rewards good with evil. Call it karma or whatever, a man shall reap what he sows. Do you know the fearful part of this law? It is the fact that 1 reaps way more than 1 sows sometimes in 10s, 100 or even 1000 folds. 1 seed of corn if sown would bring forth at least 1 cob that contains more than 50 seeds of corn.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder & transcends how the person looks. Besides what is looks but arrangement of bones, flesh & skin? Is that what should be the primary thing in something as serious as marriage? Of course not. Beauty isn't the 1st,2nd or 3rd thing that i would look 4 in a woman i intend to wife. I would pick a beautiful & Godfearing soul over a beautiful body all the time. To marry a woman just because of beauty is as foolhardy as buying a house because of the colours it is painted in.

So people of this generation are still hoping and believing that they can find faithful partners.

If 10 of every 11 girls within the age of 18 to 25 are not virgin then we can equally say the probability that a married woman or a fiancee will not be faith to her spouse is 10/11= 9.9 or99%

And will all know that even 999 of every 1001 are not virgin so where are you going to find the faithful?

With this it means there very high tendency (99%) that a wife or fiancee will not be faithful

Get yourself a baby mama if u cant commot your face
Yes, because it is my intention to be faithful in my relationship & marriage. Not by my power, but by the grace of God & the ever abundant strength He makes available to me. He would also lead me to a woman, who has also learnt to fear Him & we both would build our marriage not principally on emotions, physical or material attractions but on Christ, the solid, unshakeable Rock & His divine purpose. In the meantime, i would continue to avail myself as malleable clay to the hands of the Divine Potter, who is molding me into His image & He would make me into a model partner to my wife.

Kokaine:
Hi nairalanders. i came under this moniker because i want to be discreet.

I met this girl some months ago, we became close, and one thing led to the other, we started dating.

Of all the girls I ever dated, this one came closest to my heart. I'm ordinarily stingy to girls when I date them, especially the ones i feel don't really love me for any other reason than what they hope to benefit. In fact, my last relationship ended because of how tightfisted i was with her. But in the case of this girl in question, I was so free, i gave her easily, it got to the extent that my cousins and closed friends started suggesting that she put a hex on me. i really loved her. my whole life changed when she came in, i became very happy, always wanted to be with her, for every contract i took, i shared a small part with her and she was happy, whenever there was a misunderstanding, she apologised, she was never the type to climb a high horse. I wont lie i saw her demands for material things increase uncontrollably, i became responsible for everything she wanted and needed, her cream, her clothes, phone, laptop, subscription, even ordinary airtime! haba! airtime oh!!! but i wasn't all that disturbed because i felt i could endure the burden just because of how happy and lively she always made me feel, practically the same addiction my neighbour has for weed even if its with his last dime

The trouble started when i went to her place one day and she was not around, my phone was almost dead, i decided to charge it in the abokis place near her house. Then i saw what looked exactly like her phone charging. I mean; her phone cover is very spectacular to me, looks like rabbit ears with lights that come on whenever you touch it. i asked about it, he told me it was hers. God so did it that he allowed me to check the phone, i had known her pattern a long time ago but she didn't know.

Brothers and sisters! When I opened this phone, and saw her chat with someone whose name she saved with "miracle" she was obviously cheating! I copied the number and dialled it on my phone with truecaller, i saw the complete name, i opened facebook and checked that name, it was a guy, he was on her facebook too. she had been seeing this guy. the dates on their whatsapp chat confirmed that certain times she left my house and said she was going to her brothers house, that was where she actually went.

For the first time in my life i was broken, i had to break up with this girl. but i wanted to think about it thoroughly because i feared loneliness and the loss of happiness that breaking up with her will bring me. i did anyway.

She begged and begged promising to break up with the guy, i just don't know why i refused, i told her we could be friends, but now as i type this, she seems to Have moved on, she has never called me again nor sent any message, neither have i, but everyday that passes by, i gradually see myself going back to my old state of mind, you know one that makes you lonely even in the midst of people. i really miss her now, I'm thinking i should have forgiven her, but then i know i have to be a man, i see her posts on instagram, she is still so beautiful in my eyes, i cannot hate her however i have tried, this is very unlike me, i want anyone who has ever experienced this to tell me how he did it. Thanks so much. one love!
My brother, it is my humble opinion that God just saved you big time. Get on your knees & engage in marathon thanksgiving. Going by your description, she was a materialistic person who was more into what she could get from you than in you as a person. The way it ended was the only way you would have called things off because you were obviously smitten & wouldn't have read any other warning sign well. Imagine if you were ignorant of her indiscretions & finally had walked down the aisle with her. How would your marriage have been? Yes, it hurts & would hurt for a while since you were really into her but it obviously wouldn't be wise to try & get back with her. I like that you said that you couldn't hate her. Hatred would do no good. Forgive her but don't resume your relationship with her. She is who she is by choice; you have to respect & accept that. Don't give into the temptation of trying to win her back regardless of how lonely you feel. Don't be led by your feelings because they can be unreliable.

Christianity won't survive two decade in Nigeria, Christianity is weak.
You are right, i'm afraid. This is because priority is given to church buildings & not man building. Quantity has supplanted quality. Humans are supposed to be the church not architectural structures. We have very many churchgoers but too few disciples in this country. That is why evil is so rife here. We forget it is written that God doesn't dwell in temples made by the hands of men. However it is also written that our bodies are the temples of the God & the Holy Spirit dwells in us. Remember the fate of the temples Solomon & the jews built in Jerusalem. They were both defiled & destroyed & it seemed that God stood back & did nothing. Meanwhile, it is written that whoever defiles his/her body would be destroyed by God. That shows what is more important in the eyes of God. What matters to God isn't the sprawling, majestic edifices erected in His name. It's the state of the hearts of the people gathered in His name. How many of us are following the Master's injunction to deny ourselves, pick up our cross & follow Him daily? We (especially me) need serious revival. I don't mean the 1 we dream of that would happen in a crusade & people would start speaking in tongues as the day of Pentecost. No, what we need is the awakening of those parts of us asleep in the death of sin, hypocrisy & self righteousness; that our hardened hearts would be melted & rent by the Holy Spirit; that deep remorse for our sins would spur us to cooperate with the Holy Spirit & the graces He brings so as to bear fruits meet with repentance. That is the only thing that would rescue us from the fate you mentioned.

We are ecstatic because we make better jollof rice than Ghana? While Ghana celebrated 1 year of uninterrupted power supply sometime ago, we are busy dragging jollof rice with them not better things like low unemployment rate, good governance? Meanwhile 1 micro dot of shame didn't catch us when the highly watched & loved big brother naija had to be hosted in south africa because of our national epileptic power supply problem. I weep for this nation. Don't worry, our sumptuous jollof rice would fix our country's numerous problems. In fact let's start exporting it. It would give us the much desired foreign exchange we require to keep importing the numerous goods from overseas like gadgets, vehicles, drugs, tyres, Kellogg's, Nutella, sardine, frozen fish & chicken etc

When? How? That's the billion dollar question. When we've not started at all. Nothing works well in this country. We have kleptomanic clowns with no iota of sincerity & dedication at the helm of affairs & we the followers are not better by much. All it takes to convince someone to vote for you is distribute bags of rice & throw a few wads of naira none or control hoodlums (& sometimes security forces) to rig elections. No one takes a genuine stab at trying to solve 1 of our problems from the roots. We all prefer cosmetic, superficial fixes that would create an illusion that the leader is 'working'. Our institutions are a farce. Individuals are deified above the rule of law. The law itself is skewed, extremely flawed & creates loopholes for criminals to flourish eg the immunity clause. The same promises made to the Nigerian people during election campaigns in 1999 are the same that would be repeated come 2019; good roads, uninterrupted power supply, pipe borne water, fight corruption, create jobs, diversify the economy. Meanwhile day by day, it gets worse. Therefore, it is highly likely to say that we might never get there.

People don't need to see pictures of a mother grieving for her deceased child. Every simpleton knows she would feel very terrible. All 1 needs to do is try & imagine oneself in that same situation & you would be able to gain little insight into the woman's state of mind. What do you expect to see? Someone with makeup on fleek? Someone smiling or looking good? The woman lost her child for goodness sakes. If people are desperately looking for pics of someone grieving, let them wait until they lose a loved one then they can take a selfie. This present generation's lack of empathy, humanity & regard is so alarming. Soon (if it hasn't happened already), people would start posting pics of faeces exiting their anal sphincter online.

Famine, malaria, sickle cell, small pox, cholera, lassa fever, meningitis & other disasters would have nearly wiped us off in this country if not for the whites. We have made little above zero as far true progress is concerned. Ordinary efficient railway system that some western countries perfected since the 1800s, we don't have. What about power? We all know that 1 is already dead on arrival (DOA) despite the billions of $$$ pumped into it. Security? Kaput! Iron & steel that some civilizations perfected long before the birth of Jesus Christ? The Badoo cult in Lagos that have bn killing ppl,why are they not called yoruba cult members, or evans and his gang of Igbo kidnappers??..the moment an attack is carried out in southern Kaduna by men carrying arms you people are quick to label them Fulani herdsmen..as if they carry out the attacks with a brand on their faces indicating they are fulanis or even using cattles and goats to maim people hence the inclusion of herdsmen....enough of this you people's hypocrisy.
Don't be too quick to rush & defend them. My boss in abia state went to his farm & saw a fulani herdsman harvesting his corn. He confronted the man & in response, the man drew out a knife. If not for God, who knows the tragedy that would have befallen my boss? In any sane clime, should they be moving about unchecked? Its only because Nigeria is a lawless country skewed to unduly favour a particular people that's why they have the right to wreak malfeasance up & down. Shouldn't the legitimate cattle rearers either buy or rent land where they can keep their animals enclosed? Abroad, cattle rearers have ranches; why cant the same happen here. Its probably because they are in cahoots with the nefarious entities within that's why they continue constituting nuisance to the inhabitants of the land when they move about.

MrPresident1:
You people should try to understand the existential issues before writing long winding epistles. I am 100% sure the people of Mbaise will accept any other person to be their bishop but not anybody from Anambra/Ahiara. The issue is one of perceived existential domination, and this goes right into the core of the laity involved, it is a cultural thing, and that bishop will not reign.

Okpalaeke should be made bishop of another place. Another bishop should be chosen for Mbaise, I repeat, he could be from anywhere except Ahiara/Anambra. The people would most happily welcome him!

All the priests, despite their vow of unquestionable obedience to the pope, and their laity, have rejected Okpalaeke.

The law was made for man, and not man for the law; Let Francis appoint another bishop for Mbaise, let the revolting priests be severely punished, let the laity be severely reprimanded.

This is my judgment.

I rise!
Do you understand that this action you suggested would set a precedence that would encourage other priests in other dioceses to flout papal decrees? It's either those priests obey or they be disrobed. The catholic church isn't where rebellion to superior authority should be tolerated. From reading that "long epistle" you accused that brother of writing, you would have garnered that the claims of the members of the Ahiara diocese hold no water. There is no sane reason why they should reject the pope's choice of a bishop.

shocked

Why encourage buying made in Nigeria when you'd arrest people who make in Nigeria?

The army should contract these guys to make and supply ammunitions to them.

That's what a focussed government will do.
We need such skills...imagine how beautiful their pieces look, I can bet they can compete with that of the Russians or the Americans
Illegality shouldn't be condoled. However, a midpoint can still be reached. They can be taught modern gun smithing in prison & after serving their term be encouraged legally manufacture arms that can be used by the forces.
