ifeanyi.abdul:Now you understand why I was upset with you. I knew some people are looking for any opportunity to lashout at Gentiger. This person is posting from the US as his IP address reveals. He joined Nairaland TODAY! Looser! Jacobs voice, Esau's hands. |
Thomby2k12: Please my brother, do I need to choose specify a date for the new appointment or are they the one who will give me a date? How long does it take get a reply from the embassy? Thanks. They will give you a date. You do not have the discretion to choose. |
ernestleon: I will advice you get it corrected as soon as possible. An affidavit won't help you on that day of interview.Take the cert to waec office in lagos you will find someone that will help you correct it in a short period.Really??!!! Wow!!! |
Obatide: Seniors in the DV issues (adesoji, Brightmon, getinger, temmytanny, tiwanna and host of others)Your age difference is inconsequential. Here in the US, older women prefer younger guys. As for the error in your date entry, a simple affidavit from the High court will fix that. Cheers. |
Thomby2k12: My dear brothers and sisters of nairaland. I have a very disturbing question to ask. A brother could not attend his DV2013 visa interview due to some circumstances beyond his control. Is it still possible for him to still have another appointment scheduled for him? How should he go about it? Looking forward to your quick response. It's not a problem. Let him write the embassy stating his reasons and requesting a new date. Let him quote his case Number and full names to get their audience. He must act fast. September 30th is fast approaching. |
ripple0508: I won as single but am married with kids I work with a local govt and am into events too,I have my schl.cert but I failed mathematics I have more tha 5 credits. I wanted to fill my kids into column 31b but I mistakenly filled it into 29 and we have all been called for an interview in july. I have three kids+ my husband and by 1st week in august, I will be expecting another baby. Am scared, don't want to lose this chance pls advice and tell me what my chances r. ThanksMadam, do you really want to know your chances? You got none. If you included all these individuals only after you got your winning notification, then your chances are zero over hundred. Use that money to solve important problems instead of dashing it out to the American Government. If anyone is giving you hopes and urging you on, it's not a bad idea, but you'll wish you listened afterwards. |
raul_y: @gentiger....Please is it compulsory that one get a NPC birth certificate, because the one i have is from the state government and it contains all the details required??I will always recommend NPC issued birth certificate. You need a birth certificate that will serve you beyond visa processing. It was until I arrived the US before I realized most agencies I had dealings with ONLY recognized NPC issued birth certificate. If you can get it along with What you presently got, go to the embassy with both. As always, the embassy will take the PREFERRED, which is NPC and return the other one to you. It doesn't mean What you got won't be accepted at the embassy, but think beyond your visa application to the reality of living in America. |
genlion: THE EAGLE HAS LANDED. I DON RECEIVE MY 2NL. GLORY TO GOD. MOTHER GENTIGER, CELEBRATE YOUR SONS 2NLIt's Well with you. You're visa is guaranteed. |
ifeanyi.abdul:No hard feelings. I am open minded. I say things as they are and I feel better knowing I am grudge-free. |

When you fill out the FAFSA form, reference to highest attained education level is in respect to US schools. The only place they included, 'or it's equivalent ' is High School Diploma which is your WAEC. Gentiger does not promote fraud. Since you have my number and have always called me on different issues, I expected you to cross check with me first before insinuating the possibility of fraudulent motives to my good intentions. There's nothing I have posted here on education which was not researched from educationist and counsellors attached to my new school here in Los Angeles. Goodluck. |
idriez: Kindly expanciate more on this evaluation thing and how to go about it.I made a previous post on this. please visit my profile and click to see all my posts. You'll find all you seek there. |
MERCY2013: My interview experienceAnd Mercy said YES!!! Congratulations Mercy. |
Husmern: pls can u giv us any link concerning dt of accredited credential evaluation service provider.....thanksThere are many. This one is very popular here in the States: www.wes. org |
engyadewale: I sincerely love this info. Gentiger, you are indeed rendering unimaginable succour to members of this fabulous forum. You are, of a truth, a fabulous member, Gentiger and I salute your goodwill.Since you don't have your SSN and alien registration number (Printed in front of your green card) yet, you can't start these application now. What you can start doing now is to process your transcript and send to any accredited credential evaluation service provider. You can't afford to wait till you get here to begin this process. |
AN UPDATE ON SCHOOLING IN THE US. I need to draw your attention to some facts I left out of the last publication vis-a-vis schooling in America the easy way. Now you can have it all. When filling out your FAFSA form online, always specify your least education qualifications (O'levels) as your highest attained education status. The truth is this, that's all was required in the first place to get your visa. Your graduate and post graduate degree is of little consequence. Now why do this? If you fill you have graduated from college /University, automatically the payable sum in grant and loans are reduced to the least minimum.and the interest on loan could become changeable to your detriment. PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS. Again you will be asked the highest education level attained by your parents. Please specify Jnr. High. This is about the least education level in the US. Why do this? It's to show your parents are not gainfully employed and incapable of sponsoring you through school. If you fill that your parents are graduates, again your benefits are slashed to the barest minimum. Finally on this, you cannot access your grant or loan from the government without filling out the Selective Service form online. Every male below 26 years of age must fill out the form online to show a desire to join the military or otherwise. You will be denied a lot of benefits if you don't, including grants from the government and loans too. If you're above 26 years of age as a male, on the website which I will supply shortly, you must download the appropriate form, fill and send by regular post to the specified address. Now go to this website to begin: www.sss.gov Expect my next publications on landing your dream job in the States soon, with all the juicy details on necessary licensing and certification. Happy stay in the USA for those who are already here. For those still awaiting interview or selection, I wish you success. Gentiger signing off from Los Angeles, CA. |
Yemmyc2012: Good morning all, yesterday was the happiest day I ve ever witnessed in life as d good Lord granted us(me,husband and less than 5months old boy)d American visa exactly on our 1year wedding anniversary.we were interviewed by a skinny white guy @ window 15.The conversatio goes thus:Congratulations guy. Welcome to America. |
raul_y: @gentiger......I am an undergraduate and i have been selected for further processing for DV2014.I have two years left to graduate. What do you advice me to do houseWell, depending on your CN, if you're sure of graduating next year, you can delay the submission of your forms to a reasonable time. If it's 2015 you will be graduating, depending on your sponsor, you May proceed as a transferred student. When your transcript is evaluated, you will be re-admitted as a transferred student to finish your program in a US institution. Congratulations on your being selection. |

You can go back to school here in the States to increase your earnings and have an edge over your contemporaries. You need not spend a fortune to do that. You can take full advantage of Federal and Private loans and repay over time. The Good thing about taking and repaying loans as of when due is that it builds up your credit history and makes you credit worthy. So my advice to all new immigrants is to begin building your credit ratings. How do you do that? The moment you have a job, you can approach any of the stores in your locality offering credit cards to customers. For those in California, try out Marshall or Macy stores. There are many others. You can begin by taking $500 - $1000 credit card facility from these stores for your shopping. These stores mentioned and others are where I buy my clothes. Their services are exceptional. Back to What we were saying, going back to school need not be tedious. I'll advice each and everyone already in the States to evaluate their certificates or academic credentials with the appropriate evaluation centers scattered. across the States. This is a very important step if you must go to school. Secondly choose a course of study most sought after. Do programs that will make you indispensable. Always verify average yearly income for any program you choose and job availability. When you are satisfied with your chosen program, then you can proceed to the next level. You must choose schools with the necessary accreditation for the desired course of study. Ensure you review the schools in your locality for competitiveness and financial aid availability. This is very important . Private schools are expensive but better in terms of academic output. Again, they churn out graduates much faster than government schools. Classes are not congested and students are given personal attention, usually, you may be assigned to a professor to guide you through your chosen course of study. This is the advantage of private over public schools. When you have chosen your school and your course of study, the next phase is how to pay for tuition and other related expenses. This is where federal grant and federal/private loans come in. I will break it down for you to understand. Let's proceed. When you enroll for any house of study in a college or university setting, as a green card holder you are entitled to $5500 grant. It's called the Pell Grant and is non-refundable. It's awuf. With this grant, your school fee is reduced by $5,500. All schools will draw this grant to your attention. It is your entitlement. America sweet die!!! Next, you need to create a pin for your Federal Government loans. Loans are not grants. Loans from the government are repayable over a period of 10 years with a fixed but low interest rate in comparison to Private loans. Avoid private loans as much as you can. To get your pin, log on to www.pin.ed.gov. Fill out the required forms and allow a maximum of 3 business days to have your pin approved. Your pin is your financial power as far as government loans are concerned. Do not share it and do not disclose to third parties. Below are the various Federal government grants you can take advantage of. It covers all levels of studies, college students, undergraduates or graduate students. 1.Federal Stafford Loan 2. Federal graduate plus loan 3. Federal Parent plus loan If you don't want these loans but want to be employed by your school and have your salary used to service your tuition, Then take advantage of the 4. Federal Work study. To apply for Federal Stafford loan, you must first have your admission for your program of study, Then log on to www.fafsa.gov. You can also take a look at this site for additional information: www.studentloans.gov. I wish everyone a lovely study life in the US. A word of advice: If your highest level of studies is WAEC/NECO, please don't travel down to the States without atleast 5 WAEC/NECO scratch cards. You will need it here. Trust me when I tell you this. Again, if you are a graduate of any field of study, approach your graduate school and have your transcript processed. Keep a personal reference copy and have your school send a copy to any one of the certificate evaluation services here in the States. I wish I had someone to tell me all these before I left Nigeria. I plan travelling down though. Log on to www.Wes.org. This is one of the best certificate evaluation service providers you can find. There are many others. Google them up and ensure they are properly accredited to provide that service in the US. God bless you all. Gentiger signing off from Los Angeles. |
genlion: bulletin, lo and behold we awaits ur arrival.loading......... roarrrrrrI like that. Roar a little louder brother..... Roooooaaaaaarrrrrr! Lol!!! |
adeniyisavage: guess it should be,since it falls under the jurisdiction of the Federal Govt.Oh That's great. |
adeniyisavage: That's the form you will fill out and send to USCIS for naturalization purposes, when you have spent required amount of time in the US.The Good things about naturalization is that you need not apply. Once you're due for it, the forms and detailed instructions are sent to your mail. I speak for California. I don't know if it's so in the other States. |
missannie: How long will it take ur GC to arrive? & also will d SSN be mailed to d given address too? Pls reply. Thanks. It all depends on the state. In California, ssn should be ready in 4 business days, GC in 12 business days from the day you pay your GC processing fee. Apart from Texas where I learnt you have to wait for a couple of weeks to apply for ssn and GC, it appears other state exposure action to ensure all your processing are completed within 21 days. |
adeniyisavage: technically its 4 yrs and 9 months, however once you submit your N400 form you cannot travel outside the US. processing at that stage takes 3 months, hence the 5 yrs.Nice one brother... |
YessWeeCan: Well said. But Gentiger, did you notice their curiosity, after several series of advice beckoning on them to stick to their current status? I pray they'll listen.Well, I hope he/she listen to these sound counsel. By the way, it doesn't cost much to say sorry in sympathy after visa is denied for failure to heed caution. |
nereiskc: . Good morning pals, pls am yet to get or see any help from anyone. Last week my little sister checked her dv lottery entering and she was selected for interview. Though we are yet to receive any email containing the interview details as in date and venue. A frnd said I shld mail Kcc for inquires and another said they will send d interview stuff via courier, so am confused and time is ticking. So I need help as in explanation on wht nxt or step to follow. Thanks palsCongratulations for her selection. Don't be in a hurry to avoid regrettable errors. Just relax and try to read through this tread from the very first page. KCC won't send any package to you. Never ever would they. Don't expect one. Rather you will need to download the applicable forms, fill them out correctly without mistakes and send via courier service to KCC. Take your time. Don't be in too much hurry to avoid mistakes. Always duplicate any document you are sending out. Keep the duplicate as your reference copy. Some say you can send your forms via email. Verify from KCC via email should you choose this method to be sure it's still applicable. If you stick to this forum, you won't be misled. Congratulations once again and goodluck. |
YessWeeCan: Chances are very slim if you choose to add yourself as derivative, since it was earlier stated SINGLE AND NO KID. Let her proceed to the interview alone, she will file for you after 6 years. If she returns 5 years and file for a child she didn't declare in her eDV application, her citizenship will be revoked and all rights and privileges withdrawn. It is deemed that she obtained her citizenship fraudulently. There's a guy that approached the embassy 5 years after he became established to file for a child he left out of his original eDV application. When they began to question him at the embassy and he realized he was going to loose everything, he withdrew his application immediately. To his greatest shock, on his way into the United States, he was denied entry because the embassy has disclosed the fraud to all units, his ssn was already noted down along with his alien number on his green card. Thank God he still had the plastic card which he hid away while claiming he lost it on transit . He merely gave his ssn, ID card number and alien registration number to the immigration officers which is good enough to grant him re-entry. What he did was to fly back to Nigeria, and book another flight to Canada since Canada accepts green card holders without visa. There's No way Canadian immigration would know his green card was voided except of course they request an update from US immigration. The guy cleverly married a Canadian lady, became a citizen after 3 years and is now back to the States. Smart dude. |
sozen2010: How do I change address after collecting my visa because I don't want to go the initial state of choice again?Go to your new state of choice and change your green card delivery address at the port of entry. I did. You too can. But you must write out the new address clearly on paper and Let them know you wish to use the updated address. They will enter it for you in the system. That's it... |
taatus: Someone should please tell this lady 'CINDYBELLA' on this forum that those guys trying to advice her to get married and add her child for the interview are nothing but real ignorant who wont keep their ignorant knowledge to themselves but rather use it to distract prospective peoples opportunities. Follow those trash they they are telling you and your dream is shuttered once and for all. I dont understand why people sarcastically give fictitious advice....Thanks Taatus. I deliberately avoided commenting on her matter because there are plethora of cases on this forum of those who were denied for failing to heed this warning. For the up tenth time, you can't add now anyone who existed during your eDV application but was exempted for whatsoever reason. If you do, you will be denied visa. No amount of prayers or faith can save you. That will be tantamount to stupidity. Cindybella, take note. |
Petsal: @Gentiger:As long as you've entered the states and activated your green card, you can leave, but try to return within 6 months except you have a re-entry permit, in which case you can stay out longer. Please don't stay out without establishing residency intent. Play safe. You do that by first getting your ssn, GC, state ID, bank account and a functional mobile line registered to your name. If you have a family, never leave with everyone as soon as you arrive. Build a strong family presence in the states. This way you're telling the US government you're here to truly stay. Good luck buddy. |
