Igbanke have Enogie title because of Bini imperialism. I had posted alot about that here from Igbanke people posts here.

The word for King in Igbanke as in all Igbo speaking realm is "Eze" and not Oba, Enogie or even Ovie.

If Isele uku were using Enogie title today for their kings, it would only point to Bini imperialism, as the word for King in Isele uku, as with all Igbo speaking realms would have still remained "Eze".

Edos were empire builders that were reduced to minorities by the British. Empire building is all about land grabbing. Claiming control over independent people and forcing them to pay tributes to you, uninstalling non yielding leaders amongst them and appointing rubber stamps and turncoats amongst them ready to proclaim your dominion over the people. Check out that otedo website for example... Its very rich in Edo history and all that. Anyone wishing to knowing about Edo history can check it out...right from the time of the ogisos to the obas.it was from there that I read for the first time that Edo waged two wars on the Western Igbos... The first one in 1577 in which they destroyed agbor and the second in 1755 in which they were defeated by the Ubulu(uburu in Bini) army[the Bini sources say the war ended as a stalemate while Anioma sources say the war was a victory for the Anioma resistance]. After their defeat in 1755, the Edo army never turned East again rather they continued their incursions in the Lagos and wider Nago(Yoruba) area culminating in the sack of akure in 1823.

The problem WE EAST OF THE NIGER IGBO HAVE is that we tend to forget those on the West side,when its clear that our ancestors especially from that Anambra area were the ones that crossed the Niger some millennia back to settle there.

Let me make something clear edo has nothing to do with those people. They are simply conquered people and yes some if not most were slaves to the Benin kingdom so it's normal for them to adopt our cultural dressings and history. It irritates me to watch them dress like us and bear our names but what can I do?
Ika, anioma, igbanke or whatever, they're all igbos to me. Same with onitsha people they are igbos to me. The obi of onitsha however has Benin blood in him, he can claim Benin descent but not his people whom he met there, those ones are igbos.
Igbos now dress like Benin oba, they even say "ise" as amen thanks to Benin influence. They have no culture and no king, no history either. Our bronze snail shell dug up in abia state is what they have as proof of their civilisation, not knowing abia was a conquered land and was under the Benin kingdom you can research on that.

How I wish they can stop trying to assert themselves into our history. Same with that yoruba idiot that thinks you're a Benin man when you're obviously yoruba. I've never heard a Benin man call himself yoruba unless he is drunk.
