Igboid: Were the Yorubas not given the name by Hausas? Groups had been named by their neighbors in the past. Igala communities in Anambra has been called Olumbanasaa by Ndiigbo since antiquity and today they( Igalas) there had come to accept that name, and call themselves the same. Does it change the fact that they are Igala speaking and not Igbo speaking even though they have an Igbo name today? This changes nothing, except that it tells us that the Igboid people of Ominijie obviously were republican in nature, and were given the name Ominijie by their Bini neighbors, who found their ways strange, and sought to entrench imperialist and monarchical ways on them, and probably succeeded, hence the foundation of Agbor kingdom.
You only cleared that chapter of history and reinforced the Igboid nature of the ancient people of Ominijie the more.
Thanks. What do you have to say about the Ominigie group also existing in Edo culture during the Ogiso era? |

gerg: Nsukka seem to be from Igala from their history and some of those people around Abiriba have Akwa/Cross River origin according to their history. I'm sure you will debate this but I'm not ready for any senseless debate today. We left this thread for dead and now you guys are trying to revive it.
Ominijie is a full Edo word and there is a group in Edo culture called ominijies and they play a very important role Kingdom. Till date, their are many Ominijie bearer people in Ika, Bini and Ishan. In the same way that each extended family had an Okaegbee, or leader, each ward community, village, town, dukedom, had an Odionwere, who more often than not was the oldest person in the society. The community, village, town, or dukedom, organized itself into Otu (age) groups and guilds. Each Otu had seven divisions. The idea of seven started when a group of seven, known as the ‘Ominigie,’ was set up during the Ogiso era. Ominigie was a militant or warrior group that went to war for the society. According to myths, the group accompanied their war activities with music and dance and when they were eventually vanquished, it was said that they danced their way to heaven. Another group of seven was promptly set up after their demise and the rhythm of seven has prevailed since. |

Igboid: Lol! Of course it's an indigenous Agbor name, which happens to be Igbo, because the indigenous first inhabitants of Agbor, were Igbo speaking.
What is the Agbor antiquity name for a king? Eze! Titles means nothing, they could easily be borrowed from neighbouring groups. Nsukka people have Attahs title from Igala, yet the name for a King is Eze!
Igbanke has Enogie title from Bini, yet the name for King is Eze!
Abiriba has Enanchioken title probably from Akwa/Cross influence, yet the name for a king is Eze!
Ominijie is the name, no one knows the meaning, it has no meaning in any Edoid language. Nsukka seem to be from Igala from their history and some of those people around Abiriba have Akwa/Cross River origin according to their history. I'm sure you will debate this but I'm not ready for any senseless debate today. We left this thread for dead and now you guys are trying to revive it. Culture › Re: How Sultan Of Sokoto Suddenly Found His Voice by gerg: 10:44am On Jan 31, 2017 |
VomeSchakleton: Its interesting how every im.becile in this country attributes everything to religion. The action of lawless fulani herdsmen who mostly dont even know their way to the mosque is suddenly used to attack muslims. Its sad that this is the country we live in.
As for southern kaduna, these people arent being killed because they're christians but because they murdered and killed fulani women and younglings and stole their cows. Of course that didnt make the news because herdsmen dont report to media or cry to an authority. When el rufai went to compensate them, he was stoned by the so called "victims" and the news even made front page and some foolish spengs were rejoicing out of hatred. What did you think he was compensating them for?
Whats shameful is these people happily hiding behind religion knowing fully well what they did (there was even one of them of confirmed this on this forum the other day) and everyone around the country is happy to folloe because they cant wait for a chance to take shots at the northern muslims, especially now that one is leading in these trying times.
I'm not condoning murder because its really sad that theyre being killed and a resolution must be reached but what truly saddens me is how the media is peddling false news and further dividing an already divided nation. Truly investigative journalism does not exist in this country and the media is happy to indulge any farce available as long as it sells.
As to your topic, the sultan has spoken on this issue various times but like i said, the herdsmen would have to care what he says for it to have any effect.
https://www.google.com/amp/www.naijapr.com/sultan-sokoto-speaks-killings-fulani/amp/?client=ms-android-samsung
As for the igbo woman who was sadly killed in kano, its really touching and from the narative of the husband, i understand the main perpetrator acted in his self interest using religion as his cloak to rile others against her. Though i dont condone killings for blasphemy what she did was far from that, she didnt deserve to die and if they can find the true instigator he must be prosecuted and brought to justice, in this case i must agree the justice system failed as from what i understand there were no witnesses to support their case. Its truly sad indeed.
Not every social or political crises has to do with religion. If a christian breaks into my house today with the aim of killing me and i kill him in self defense, i'm sure nigerians will find a way to attribute this to my religion or ethnicity. Truly tragic how we let these sentiments blind our thinking and as long as we keep acting like this we will never solve any problem because we attribute them to the wrong roots.
As for self defense, i'm all for it. As long as you dont trangress. Please stop this nonsense. You know you are lying and you also know everybody knows you are lying. |

Actually, there is no basis of comparison between Lagos and Accra. Maybe compare Accra and Asaba or Accra and Warri but not Lagos. Lagos is a very insane city with all the bad things happening there. I can't even think of settling down in Lagos. Nigeria as a country ins insane but Lagos took it to a whole new different level |
