True, most managers do not earn 200k. Range is usually between 80-160k. Manager na just tag. Though some senior senior managers may get big bonuses and extra cash from profit sharing taking their total earnings above the 200k mark. I work in the health sector and we have Nigerian doctors, nurses earning 200k-500k. 99% of them immigrated 15-30years ago.....make new immigrant chasing 6figures no kill themselves o. 100k is 68k at the end of the year grin 50k is 37k. grin 50k may get around 6-10k from the govt depending on family size. Taking total earning to 47k. 100k gets nothing.. cry
Generally, I have noticed that earnings or even financial independence takes years to attain. The advent of social media made it look so easy. Tech too did not help matters.

I am curious, for Canada, what are the potential entrepreneurial opportunities (no matter how crude) for first generation immigrants to fast-track one's entry into financial comfort?

32 is too old to commence university education in the abroad. This is aside from the costs involved.

This means future Nigerians who want to study abroad for their bachelors either have the brains to win highly competitive scholarships or have wealthy parents. David Oyedepo don get future customers because Ghana is too expensive, ditto South Africa. Although, better returns and higher quality in South Africa.

you're right Sha. I should have learned a skill earlier. But when you think of the other side it wasn't really not my fault. Two weeks after my mom gave birth to me, she got separated from my dad. My mum struggle to take care of me and the rest of my siblings. When I was a little bit older she started passing me around her family members because the burden of taking care of 8 children was to much to bear so she had no choice. When I was 16yrs started living on my own. So i couldn't afford to learn a skill then, because I feed for myself, pay rent sponsoring my education then. Education was my priority then. That is why, I say maybe I took the wrong decision
I keep emphasising it that having fewer children will do a lot of Nigerians good. It's the easiest way to fight poverty. Quality education comes next. It's why I don't oppose abortion or widespread of contraceptives. Even though low birth and marriage rates are being recorded across the developed world, I support people, especially women, delaying or letting go of childbearing rather than perpetuate poverty.

If your mom had two children or max children, things would have been much better because the scarce resources would have been shared with each getting a bigger pie than for eight children.

In today's Tinubulation, no family should have more than two children. Anything more than that, please have money. Raising children isn't cheap.

I made a promise to myself. If I get a contract, I shall not eat a dime from the money till I complete the project to the satisfaction of my client. The result is that I have never had issue with any client. Instead, my clientele base keep increasing and more money keep flowing because I'm building a reputation of honesty, trust and reliability. Learn from me
Most tradesmen in Nigeria will make more money being honest and reliable rather than being competent and dishonest. Honesty and reliability are rarities in Nigeria, so even dishonest people prefer them.

But you, an astute monkey, decided to use the funky term "PPP" in a bid to pass off your foolish way of reasoning.

Kogi is better off than Guyana until the latter produces oil as projected.

because majority of women will be employed in security agencies which means women will have government jobs and not be dependent on their husbands or families or tiny businesses for their upkeep.

which also means women will be able to single handedly fund the success of their children by clothing them, feeding them, sheltering them, paying their children school fees till they get a university degree...
What do the men do in this makeup? Reducing the crime rate is simple - it has been done elsewhere - to provide prosperity and punish those who break the law. Educating women = fewer children = parents pooling resources to cater for fewer children = growing economy = less incentives to commit crimes = reduced crime rates.

Militarizing one's women has never worked elsewhere as biology defeats that policy.

Sex is not "spirit", it's a natural urge. When your body needs fluid you become thirsty. When there's a build up of waste in your system you feel pressed. If you're hungry you eat. If you're thirsty you drink. If you're pressed you use the toilet. Nature also gives you sexual desires once you reach puberty. Suppressing the urge goes against nature.

When you suppress sexual urge you pay for it. Ranging from body pains, lack of concentration, unexplainable discomforts etc.

They consider Ukrainians their brother, thats why. All Russian military strategy is to defeat Nato, and Ukraine is just a disturbance to that goal at best and at worse, a very bad scapegoat. Poland which are Russia's sworn enemy for centuries should have been the preferred goat. When Russia will fight with all gloves off is when Nato joins the fight. Russia knows its a war they will win, and the west will abandon Ukraine and probably hang Zelensky (precedence to this fact abound), and Ukraine's fate will fall on Russia to rebuild. So no point destroying Ukraine when you will still have to build it back. In 2003, the United Nations called Grozny the most destroyed city on Earth, with not a single building left undamaged. If Russia can do this to their own city, then it is clear they are being easy with Ukraine. Russia will keep buying weapons from NK and Iran, to hide their most dangerous weapon reserved when the real war begin. For the untrained mind, buying weapons is seen as weakness when in reality, Russia is hiding its strength.
I can imagine how downvotes your post would have amassed if it were on Reddit/geopolitics. About the bold, it is said that Russia has lost so many men and has almost drained its arsenal which is why it resorts to getting weapons from Iran and North Korea. The question is: how long is this war going to last? From what I have read, the West's aim is to drain Russia of all its military weapons and gradually wean it off its strengths without invading the country. How long this will go on is yet to be seen.

That is because the population has exploded - many people pursuing fewer high-paying jobs. A job of 50K can command 300K if there are few people in the society to perform its duties. Employers would be forced to increase wages and salaries. Nothing stops an employer in the south to recruit from the north where the cost of living is lower.

and the remaining money is been stolen by the dubious leaders.
Nigerians love their leaders. These leaders don't fall from the sky.

Many northerners, especially the farmers, actually have money o. I read about one who cultivates tomatoes and generates 10million naira per annum as revenues. Imagine the low cost of living in the north with such an amount? And the man wasn't even running his business on a large scale.

Firstly, are you a student in Canada or a visa agent? I don’t think anyone needs to email you because if you are a visa agent misleading people just to get customers for Canada visa processing, you will face the consequences. Many students are struggling in Canada, facing hardships, and even getting a cleaning job is not easy, as many rely on loans to cover their expenses. If you mislead people out of greed, you will face an untimely death.
If true, then the situation is deplorable! No ifs or buts! Terrible and disgusting! Why should getting cleaning jobs be so difficult for international students?

I know how many times I’ve had to send money to my brother in Canada from Lagos, and he even ended up on the street at one point. Even the few students who are working find it impossible to pay those expensive tuition fees, rent, and still live normally, despite all the hype about Canada. But people like you come online to lie, painting a rosy picture, while many students are looking for help from home. You should be ashamed for creating this false narrative and misleading people. Some parents are online too, and you make it seem like people without jobs in Canada are lazy or picky, when in fact, jobs are very hard to secure and can’t even cover all their bills and school fees without resulting to loan or help from home . I hope those being deceived will land in Canada and face reality! God will surely judge confusionist like you !!

This is very very very very true! You come across some of them they don't look happy living in the UK, their skins are dry, their faces looks old, they wear smelly wigs, some of them looks like they have not washed for days, they complain that their jobs are stressful and difficult and they have to get up early to go to work and they also say it is very cold and It is not even in the winter yet.
To be honest though, apart from taking care of children and using crude tools in daily chores, life is way easier and simpler for most Nigerian women in Nigeria. Also, the weather contributes as it is your natural environment. Moving to a place that is temperate most of the year would be harsh to the skin and difficult to the mind.

If e tire them, let them return to Nigeria. There is a reason there are more African Americans residing in near-tropical states in the US even with Jim Crow histories than in the northern parts. A few years ago, there was a report that many AAs in northern states moved back to the south. The black skin is best suited for the sun.

She's right ... and not only in the UK. She's really on point ... especially with the money conversion thing. I also believe this happens more with those who are stuck in their "back home" communities... their own culture... not trying to adapt.
The money conversion could be as a result of the loans they obtained and their plans to return to Nigeria in the next few years. I believe many will move back within the next few years. Also, they might look so haggard because no domestic servants as abundant in Nigeria, yet they have to work standard working hours. Unlike the native women who have fewer children, are child-free and isn't bothered with exchange rates in affording the services to make life easy, our women don't have those options.

In summary, japa is not for everyone, especially for a gender that is very hypergamous, yet isn't in its dominant environment.

TravelRe: My Mini European Adventure And How It Has Changed My Perspective Towards Nigeria by Gerrard59(m): 3:34am On Oct 04, 2024
IbeOkehie:
OK, work is over, I have some time. Much as I hate the topic, this is Oga Gerrard so I must engage.

1) Said this many times before. I used to be an Black Africanist firebrand. Then I grew up. Got older. Had more experience and insight into human nature and unlike most people, I've been willing to grapple with the REALITIES of that nature and changed my views accordingly.

Zimbabwe.

Let me tell you what is wrong with MOST or in fact ALL liberation movements in all the colonial countries. Because they mostly were colonized by countries with CAPITALIST sytems, those liberation movements somehow associated that economic ideology with the evils of colonialism, racism, imperialism and so on. They therefore spurned everything that had to do with capitalism and adopted the OPPOSITE, which is socialism and communism. I have a good friend from Vietnam, I'm supposed to see him in the next month or so. He's the one that made me understand how this lays bare one inescapable fact that permeates those movements, to wit - the leaderships of those movements were fighting to replace the White European ruling class so that they, the new indigenous saviors, could now do exactly what the colonialists were doing - and what they did is worse BECAUSE they used socialist themed systems. So the people ended up oppressed and POORER than they were before.

One hopes that your citation of Zimbabwe means you followed the land reforms like I did. Yes, the Whites oppressed, robbed and violated the Native Black Africans. However, when Mugabe took their lands, he DID NOT institute PROPERTY RIGHTS, the lands of Zimbabwe are now in the same sort of legal status as in other Black African nations...government owns everything even AFTER the colonized tribes were supposedly liberated by their fellow Black Africans!!! grin

I stopped following the entire process when I realized that was the outcome. I'll just leave it there.

2) You and the Chinese. First, I hope you can answer - are the Chinese BETTER people than the White Europeans? Anyone after having thought long and hard about humans, can acknowledge that ALL humans are good & bad. The ONLY real differentiator that I have found in my own thinking is PRODUCTIVITY and DEVELOPMENT. Solving problems, making life more comfortable so humans can thrive. That is all.

Now the beauty of CAPITALISM and FREE MARKETS is that even the oppressor can't stop the rising tide from lifting ALL boats. You know Yvonne Chaka Chaka? Someone told me years ago that when she first visited Nigeria, it was during the early 1980's fervent campaigns against Apartheid. Apparently during an interview during that visit, she was asked to comment on how much Black Africans were suffering in South Africa. To everyones surprise, she said that Blacks South Africans are living better than what she has seen in Nigeria. I've been looking for the video or interview for years, no luck yet. .

Don't believe that? I've posted a few videos from Thomas Sowell, a Black American philosopher. He's done all kinds of travelling and writing and researched the places he went to. In one video, he explained how Black South Africans were actually living quite well. One intriguing example was how employers SECRETLY hired Blacks in jobs prohibited by Apartheid Laws. Why? It was cheaper than hiring White workers! There was a whole black market based on this labor operating in plain sight! Just sit and think about it for a bit. This is the beauty of capitalism or maybe economics and markets.

All to say, the Chinese are just angling to do what the West has been doing and they will do much worse. The EVIDENCE is that they're no better. The many Black African thinkers waxing poetic about China are falling for the liberation mantra. I know I've told you this before - Africa doesn't need China or the West or Eskimos or Russians or Malaysians. Black Africa needs CAPITALISM, FREE MARKETS and PROPERTY RIGHTS. Unfortunately, the PEOPLE of Africa would rather fight to be in government so they can get money without working, than to allow OTHER Africans to be free.

3) Black Wall Street. A terrible example of murderous, racist wickedness and jealousy perpetrated by White Americans in the USA....in 1921, as in over a CENTURY ago. Here's my challenge to YOU in the present century. The USA Federal Bureau of Investigations keeps track of the race of murderers and their victims. Go and take a look and tell us which race is killing more of the other race TODAY in the USA. Murder is murder, there's little possibility of fudging the stats.

I only found recently that another crime that's hard to juke to stats is CAR THEFT. Why? Because all cars are insured and where money is involved, the insurance companies follow the records. Wanna guess which race is responsible for most car thefts and hijackings in the USA, circa 2024?

As a purely biological matter trans-racial killings can be justified. It's a world of competition, the human is an animal after all. So if there's a particular race group disproportionally killing others, we can say, hey it's biology. You went back to history. Would you mind if I took an excursion into Black African INTRA-RACE oppression, dispossesion, socio-political marginalization and violence TODAY in say, Nigeria? I mean history is history so I won't even bring up how Black Africans sold THEIR BRETHREN to strange alien races. It's heart warming to see an African taking up their cause 400 years later! I could wade into things taking place TODAY, not in 1921.

Zimbabwe again. The two main tribes are the Shona and Ndebele. Do you know their HISTORY and how it contributed to everything happening in Zimbabwe? Basically, before the White Man there was the Zulu. The Crushing. Fascinating stuff, but it's history and the people of Zimbabwe have no reason to be poor in 2024.

History happened. America and Europe have a racist past...so does EVERY other country have a racist, tribalist, religiously oppressive past and even present. The Chinese are doing much worse to the Uighurs TODAY, like what the Arabs did to their Black African slaves, but somehow that doesn't matter. It's funny every time people want to paint the USA as racist, they go to....THE PAST, as if the country hasn't IMPROVED on that matter. Over 400 years of progress and it's still a touchstone for those who are simply JEALOUS of the Anglo-Saxons and their proven ability at development.

Nna, this whole thing just makes me laugh. Chinese saviors. grin grin grin No problem, we shall see.

Good Luck to Nigeria.
I had to quote all for posterity purposes. Thanks for your invaluable elucidation. I agree with some of the points, especially in overturning the capitalist system for socialism, black Africa needs property rights and free markets. However, I don't fully agree with the motives of the Chinese - they are just for trading and sharing technical know-how. It is left for Africans to utilise the opportunity. Southeast Asians are doing the same. Africa should be no different. China is a huge market to tap into.
