Apt.This us the post I was looking for!Poverty they say causes it for ladies to open their legs for anyone but ask then what they do with the money in the transactional sex?
Wigs, bags, hair, attachments, shoes, jewellery, bbl and all whatnots. Hardly on food and education.

Poverty is multidimensional, the one happening to Nigerian ladies is all of them.
Nah, they spend on education, food and family.

The research on the sex industry in Lagos state revealed it: Education came second in expenditures. Beauty products were number one.

Lagos men spent over 600BN! Nigerian men love this, man! grin

The Culture worship money and what money offers too much. The Culture never ask where and how the money comes as long as you have it. This leaves the door open for everything and anything.

It is not only in that culture though, the same thing can be said of the Yorubas just across the Niger but on a lesser magnitude but it is there for the discerning minds to see.
I think the Civil War contributed to it as many Igbo families suddenly got at the back of their feet financially. This gave rise to a belief to make up for things again, and via any means possible. But yes, the culture heavily promotes money, so many are pressured to make it so they are well-regarded in society.

The thing with the comparison is that even Igbo women are said to form a significant proportion of sex workers in other parts of the Southwest outside of Lagos. If in Ghana and neighbouring countries, we have more Igbo women engaging in sex work, then the comparison fails. This is where religion and the culture of freewill comes in.

I think it is not Poverty but the culture to have more and more "garbage " they call possessions.
Poverty contributes to a rise in sex workers across all cultures, but in this context, I agree that it is not only poverty, but a sheer love for money regardless of how one makes it.

Wigs, shoes, clothes, bags, bbl, toning creams, eye lashes etc. If you craved these things, I don't think it is Poverty.
So greed then, and the lure of easy money. Men are the patrons, but why are we not seeing Northern women engaging in it widely across regions in Nigeria and even outside of Nigeria? That is where religion comes in.

I think i will prefer you use direct brokers and not 3rd party brokers like bamboo.
For volume/liquidity, you may try to check the average weekly and 3-month volume before buying the stock.
It is a good guide to know if you are to buy and how much you should buy
Thank you for the information about direct brokers. I will research them. For volume liquidity, I will check on that. It seems I will enrol in the course you did sometime ago when I am fully settled.

Nice writeup.

The pandemic of transactional sex is becoming quite alarming in recent years. I can remember vividly in the year 2010-2015, we hardly hear of hookup or transactional sex, even though it was in existence, the prevalence wasn't as it is today. Women now hawk their bodies in exchange for money. They jump from one hotel to another selling their goods and services. Some go as far as creating social media accounts to display their goods, rolling and gyrating their different assets with the motive of attracting randy men that are ready to pay for those assets.
Transactional sex had always existed. It was known as runs girls, but they were not eulogised. They did their thing privately. However, with the destruction of the economy by Buhari, things went down the drain. A harmless term - hookup - became sexualised.

These are ladies whose parents suffered to train through different universities. After graduation, the majority take to hookup as their preferred occupation for survival (it brings quick money).
I have actually seen ladies who do this, and it is surreal. But, interestingly, you omit the buyers here who are mainly men. Nigerian men have a sheer need for sex, and I dare say most Nigerian men, especially those with the financial power, are actually happy that hookup is normalised and the girls are abundant. Except, of course, when their sister or daughter or wife (many marry ladies in the game) indulges in it. The advent of lads who made quick and huge money via yahoo yahoo exacerbated everything. Before now, it was mostly oil workers, politicians, drug dealers, corporate executives and thriving businessmen who could afford to carry women upandown. However, with teens and lads in their early twenties being flooded with quick cash unlike their older folks, they charged up by carrying women upandown including indulging in heart-held fantasies.

Yahoo yahoo boys, after Buhari, contributed the most in the spread of the hookup culture. Quick and huge money in the hands of very young men must be spent somewhere, and where else than in trying to ejaculate?

8 out of 10 ladies you see are into one hookup or the other. That's quite alarming. They've turned Badoo, bumble and Trueflutter into social media hookup platforms. Platform that the founders developed for the sole purpose of connecting with people around your vicinity, they've turned it to the breeding ground of prostitution.
You are being disingenuous here. If those girls are on those platforms for a year without getting men who will patronise their services, they will deactivate. Some pay heavy fees to register and maintain their profiles, so when there is no money forthcoming, they will leave. However, they won't because the majority of our men patronise their services.

They will even state their prices and even go as far as telling any intending swiper to go straight to the point or swipe left to unmatch them.
Of course, as proper businesswomen that they are. Time is money. Why waste time? BTW, when did Nigerians start trying to date or form a healthy relationship via dating apps? It is not our thing. Dating apps were never going to work or be the predominant way to meet a partner in Nigeria, and this is across cultures and both religions.

Males and females can no longer build genuine connections any more, as 70% of our ladies have turned everything into transactional gains.
Our men also contributed as they became openly and arrogantly polygamous. They, according to the women, never regarded "understanding girlfriends", but spent a lot on women outside. So, why not be the woman outside and gain more money than the one inside? Our married men pride themselves in having side chicks and carrying babes. You think these women don't read these posts?

I call on the government to put a law against hookup and prostitution to combat this profane and unholy widespread pandemic.

Let's save our girls/women even though they don't want to be saved.
Just have to state something here: it is not every anomaly that the gov't has to enact a law to stem the tide. In most cases, government intervention worsens things rather than makes them good.

Now, to a law against prostitution: it will never work, as it goes against male biology. Policymakers are predominantly men, and these men patronise these girls. It is Nigerian politicians who host elaborate parties filled with university female students; Nigerian corporate big-wigs (most of whom are men) who host similar parties filled with young women. In fact, men cannot have a nice time without the presence of women. This is biologically appropriate.

The two alternatives are Sharia Law and making your society wealthy. But then, sex work thrives in Dubai and even in wealthy Singapore, sex work thrives, although heavily regulated.

Testosterone is a hormone, not a m0ro n. The very fact that men have the biological urge to ejaculate every day means sex workers will continue to exist.

Na mostly igbo Babes dey this lane, i get 9 of them at my beck and calls.... Very very affordable i must say
Many netizens keep saying this. Assuming it is true, it brings me to the question: Why do Igbo ladies dominate the sex work industry?

- The sheer love for money as practiced in the culture
- A liberal culture which promotes independence, liberty and freewill
- Christianity, which offers a room for repentance and forgiveness

Personal opinion, poverty is the major factor for the prevalence of prostitution in Nigeria.
It is in every part of the world. It is why sex workers are expensive in wealthier societies because there are fewer women into it. The average woman does not like to have sex with different men. However, even in wealthier countries, sex work exists because men's biology drives the constant need for sex. Women have the monopoly.

So, sex work will continue.

Many men need to realise that women are an expense. No matter how you want to dodge it, the moment you decide to associate with a woman, you MUST spend money.

The best way to navigate it is to have a woman who likes you and spends her money on you, but as a man, you MUST spend.

18-20 fallacy:
There are undergraduates at this age who are in trade while in school. Some of them pay for their school fees through income from their trade.
They are in the minority. I don't like to bother my brain with the minority, as they don't move a needle in the grand scheme of things. The majority of girls in that age range are sponsored by their parents, rightfully so. In fact, it becomes an anomaly if a 20-year-old girl is her sole sponsor. Where are her parents? Her relatives? Her possibly elder siblings? Why is she her sole sponsor?

There are women who are selling in shops at this age. There was someone who brought his problem here asking us if he should marry this woman who was assisting him in his shop, she did not go to school but she was very good and well mannered.
Again, minority. Selling in shops does not mean they own it. The example you mentioned is what I mentioned earlier - he can afford to marry her because he is well-established. He won't be complaining that the girl cannot contribute financially to the household. Did Pa Ned complain that Regina does not contribute to the household bills?

There are 27-35 yo that are so entitled despite working for years.
Yes, but they don't constitute the majority because these are full-fledged adults who have to pay their own bills.

The message that people must earn income to know how to make a home is a fallacy. It's even worse if you have a woman who, because she is earning money will buy you meals from outside because she has money.
It is not fallacious for an adult to earn an income. It is an integral part of adulthood. A full-fledged adult should earn an income to become a thriving part of society. Marriage is full of responsibilities from both sides, and most of these responsibilities require money to cater to them. Knowing how to earn an income is essential. However, if a man decides to marry a lady who does not know how to earn an income or has never fended for herself, he should not expect her to contribute to the household.

I agree with you to get off the internet and meet real people because that is where you will see the properly brought up child. The internet is just a forest where unknown gunmen and women post. Some people think they will never find Virgins at a certain age. The Internet keeps misleading them

People's experience and exposure ground them. Yes, exposure to older people can be a factor but what people get confused is that experiences are different. You can also be surrounded by moomoo adults when you are younger and you'll think that is our life is supposed to be. You keep going on with this mooomooo lessons until you are 40 years old and you can think for yourself. Some people start getting wise at 11 when life throws a curve ball at them and their mates are still under their mom's roof. Agreed. There are many ways to gain life experiences, but as with everything, it accumulates as one grows older rather than amass all experiences at once.

The Sarduana and Awolowo wanted secession, Zik the ELECTED leader of the Igbo insisted on Unity. Where Malaysia and India split into more manageable pieces, the Igbo tried to use trickery to take over an Empire created by the British. Nigeria of today is the result.

I watched that program, and most of Allen Onyema's statements were contradictory.
How can air tickets be the cheapest in Nigeria when some flights from one European country to another cost around €40–60, whereas a 45-minute domestic flight in Nigeria can go up to ₦200,000–500,000—during this festive season when no new taxes have been introduced? Also no change in exchange rate or increase in price of aviation fuel.
Secondly, Allen Onyema himself admitted that under Buhari, spare parts and new aircraft purchases were made tax-free starting from 2021/2022. That the current proposed tax law seeks to reintroduce those taxes. The question that immediately came to mind when he said this was: Sir, if taxes were removed back then, why did airlines increase ticket prices from around ₦20/30k in 2022 to ₦150,000–200,000 now (an 8–10 times increase) for the same routes?
Everything points to greed.
The naira was devalued by Tinubu. Inflation ballooned. Those spare parts' and servicing prices increased since they are always imported.

This is not to defend his actual statement.

I graduated from university in 2018, with 2.2 above 3. And I thinking if it wise to apply for research program before applying for masters degree, according to most School website it seems cheap.. I'm self sponsoring...
Everything depends on how competitive the intended program is, the university and the professor in-charge.

In whatever you opt for, learn the language if you intend to get a job afterwards. I do support the initial six-month research program as it brings you up-to-date with research methods and skills in a Japanese university environment. But as a privately financed student, endeavour to check the number and kinds of scholarships available, esp to Africans/non-East/Southeast Asians. You will need them when you commence your full master's program. Your grade is weak for MEXT, but I do think (probable) that if you perform assiduously duringthe research program, you can/might discuss/raise it up with your prof to nominate you for the MEXT University recommendation scholarship. It is the most elite scholarship, but it is restrictive in that you cannot apply for another scholarship. For that reason, focus on private scholarships - there are plentiful and munificent.

Foreign AffairsRe: Russia-Ukraine War: World News, Weapons & Battlefield Discussions - Live by Gerrard59(m): 7:57pm On Dec 28, 2025
shoodboi2:
What landed on the hotel in Offa wasn't debris. It was a literal tomahawk missile. The warhead was found along with engine parts. The other bungalow in Offa was what was hit by debris, most likely the empty solid fuel tank of the same or a different missile.

Two probable causes are maliciousness or missile error.

The tomahawk missiles were fired from a ship (or ships) in the Atlantic ocean. So it flew over several states, including Kwara on its way to Sokoto.

A tomahawk has over 2000 km range. Lagos to Sokoto is around 750 km by air on a straight line, aka as the crow flies. So the Atlantic ocean (Gulf of Guinea) to Sokoto is well within the range of a tomahawk.

As for the booster, the tomahawk uses solid fuel at launch before switching to liquid fuel midflight. After this switch, it jettisons the now empty (and useless) solid fuel booster tank to reduce weight, save fuel, and improve the aerodynamics and weight balance of the missile.

If we go with the "missile error" suggestion, I am thinking the missile may have been unable to switch to liquid fuel after using up its solid fuel, so it crashed.

Another likely suggestion is that the missile had some other malfunction or strayed off course and somehow crashed in the process.

Even if we excuse the missile landing on the hotel as an error, do we also excuse the booster landing on a house as an error?

The US knows very well the tank will land somewhere and can very likely control what time it is jettisoned. So why releasing it over a town? Kwara and neighboring states have more than enough forests where missile parts can fall.

If this was deliberate, then the US may have been trying to pass a message to some people in Kwara. The message is addressed "to whom it may concern," and the Chinese it concerns know themselves. Foolishboy419 correctly predicted US action in Kwara several months ago long before talks of this bombing even came up and this happening makes it very plausible.

Till now, even the Nigerian and US governments struggle to tell us what the US destroyed. Even whether they worked together to actualize the bombing is a mystery. Some of the US supporters are even saying the bombing is more of symbolic than substance.

If missiles are already landing on civilian houses during "symbolic bombings" then God knows what will happen when the non-symbolic bombings begin.

It is even a surprise that Sokoto and the northwest in general was targeted. While drumming support for the bombing, it was Benue they put in the spotlight. US house of rep members visited Benue and pastors from Benue were sent to the US to give testimonies on the Christian genocide said to be happening in Benue.

But once the bombings started, it was Sokoto and Kwara they fired at instead of the terrorists killing people in Benue. One of the two areas they fired at in Sokoto isn't even suffering from terror attacks. And the buildings destroyed in Kwara were clearly civilian infrastructure.

Now, a topic on frontpage even mentions that terrorists have started moving into Benue following the bombings.

As I and many others said back then, any bombing must be done in coordination with the Nigerian government. At least, if our government is involved, they will tell the Americans to stop dropping missiles and boosters on civilians. But as usual, their supporters said they support the bombings even if the Nigerian government was not carried along. Some even openly said the Nigerian government should not be carried along.

Now that the bombings has begun, they are mute about a bomb and debris landing on a civilian hotel and house in Kwara while quickly labeling anyone who questions or scrutinizes it a terrorist or a terrorist sympathizer. The icing on the cake will be when a bomb lands on their family house. We will see whether they will also refer to themselves as terrorists by then.

As I said back then, everybody will collect last last. The Americans care about no one. Everyone is expendable to them. We are lucky the warhead that landed on the hotel in Offa didn't go off but we will not always be lucky. "Collateral damage" will be our favorite word in the coming months.

As the tomahawks are landing in the north, the expended solid fuel tanks and faulty missiles will land here in the south, that is if the US is not deliberately dropping them on the south anyway.

As for the Americans, the truth about their intent will finally reveal itself over the next few weeks and months.
I agree with everything you have written, including by bryght4u and as I can recall, I think I brought up the issue of Kwara experiencing an attack soon, ditto Katsina. The Baruten and Patigi LGAs are major soybean-producing areas in Kwara. Chinese investors are there to cultivate en-masse soybeans for eventual export.

Inasmuch as David Hundeyin can be irrational at times, I tend to agree with his tweets which oppose US intervention because in reality, it tends to be worse. Benue, Zamfara and Plateau are the most affected areas, so why Sokoto?

In all of this, the entire blame lies on Northern elites. I really don't understand why they keep mum while their region is being destroyed. These are people who control the military apparatus of the country and have dominated politics for a long time. So, why can't they fight a meance which directly affects them?

A girl of 18 - 23yrs have zero financial strength, have no career of her own. she is coming in as a full time burden to you.

Majority of them are not mentally ready for marriage , they have no ideal knowledge of what they want.. she will love you today, wake up tomorrow and develop feelings for another,, many of them will hate you in future for taking away their youth with marriage..

Majority of them are not virgins.. they are sexualy exposed at a very early age..

In conclusion if a younger woman is not bringing finances, not bringing a good career and not bringing virginity,, how are they better than a woman in her late 20s or 30s..
As man of 33yrs l have dated a lot of them and God knows l will be deceiving my self if l will be taking any of them to the altar,, beyond sex most of them have zero knowledge about life and it realities..just tik tok and social media trends..

As a man think deeply about this in your free time.. l am done with all this small girls honestly..
But this is what I've been preaching about notwithstanding the social media rhetoric that it's better to marry very young ladies. Unless you're well to do, it costs more to marry a girl within the age of 18-25 as most are either in school, way too naive about how a family should be run, are unemployed or yet to be employed etc.

It's why you see some men lament that after marrying such a lass, they're compelled to set up a business or sponsor her to learn a trade. In today's world, unless you're a well established man (which takes years to accomplish or from a wealthy home), you need to marry a woman who knows how money works and earns a livelihood - which should be sustainable, legitimate and consistent.

I believe every woman, just as every man, should earn an income. It's an integral part of adulthood, so expecting an 18 or 20 year old to be an income earner so quickly is very unrealistic. For the that reason, as a man in his 30s, your best bet is ladies above the age of 27. At that age, she earns an income from a business or job and knows how to take proper care of herself as an adult before you come into her life.

Stop listening to social media illiterates who are largely unexposed, uneducated, embittered and frustrated. Real life is different o

Guys who married their age mates and mature girls seems to be enjoying life to the fullest quietly and we are here trying to follow societal norms..
Actually, it's social media rhetoric. Societal norms have changed to expect the woman to contribute to the household except the man is well established or they live in deep rural areas. Social media rhetoric tells you as a man in his mid-30s to marry an 18 year old, whereas the teen is yet to be employed or earns a consistent, sustainable and legitimate income. How many men are like Pa Ned who can singlehandedly take care of their household and even in-law expenses?

I've told you people many times - stop listening to illiterates who now have access to the Internet. Obasanjo caused it sha.

Competition is not supposed to make a company shutdown if the nation's economy is booming like it ought to be.

Nigeria's middle-class population have been wiped out by Tinubu's terrible policies. Most migrated abroad, many lost their jobs and now struggling so going to supermalls to shop is no longer easy for them with lean budget
It's a ShopRite issue, not Nigeria's. Nigeria isn't the only country where the parent company closed operations. Meanwhile, there are other companies offering ShopRite-like services, so the argument that Nigerians aren't suited for such shopping services doesn't hold.

We still hv more Yoruba Christians than igbo Christians
This is a terrible terrible lie! Yorubas are half Christians and Muslims. So, how do we've more Yoruba Christians than Igbo Christians? In fact, Igbo Christians is an oxymoron because Igbos are majorly Christians.

Igbos constitute the major ethnic group with the highest concentration of Christians in Nigeria. In fact, if Biafra happens, the rest of Nigeria becomes an Islamic republic.

see dis boy? go study medicine or engineering. dont study yeye course and later come cry poverty and unemployment. dont be like me.
i studied yeye course, now I am a labourer in a construction site under and engineer that is younger than me. he earns massively for doing almost nothing while i earn meagre amount for doing the hardest job, which make my back ache.
Economics is a good course esp if OP is still below 20 and knows mathematics. Medicine is good for job security, not earning a high income. It is also an expensive program to study.

The unemployment problem is because of Buhari's horrible economic policies and a high population. India has the same issue - way too many people pursuing few jobs.

Good day nairalanders, so I plan on going to the University next year to study Economics but I wrote art subjects in waec..I wanted to study law/political science but I am switching to economics now.

The issue is I want to write GCE next year only writing economics as I feel it the only missing piece in my weac to study the course. Is it possible? Will I have to write commerce and all those commercial subjects?

Thank you

Edit: I will be using two sitting
Write to use one sitting result. You have to include mathematics if you did not. No school will admit a student to study economics who did not meet the minimum requirement in either mathematics or further mathematics. And you will need maths to perform well in economics, and in aptitude tests during job hunting. It is this job hunting stage that will request one sitting result for your secondary school exams.

So, one sitting and mathematics.
