Tharmon:Write to use one sitting result. You have to include mathematics if you did not. No school will admit a student to study economics who did not meet the minimum requirement in either mathematics or further mathematics. And you will need maths to perform well in economics, and in aptitude tests during job hunting. It is this job hunting stage that will request one sitting result for your secondary school exams. So, one sitting and mathematics. |
emmaodet:I saw this a lot during university days... Girls who weren't good in academics got married in their twilight years or immediately after and began living comfortably (better than when they were single). So a guy whose parents aren't comfortable yet loses focus in school or trade will pay for it. What is the backup? I am always glad I was serious while in school, even with a more comfortable background than some I know who did not have a similar background, yet played along in school. The girls they dated while in school, they cannot approach today because they (the girls) have upgraded. I don't know how it feels, but it will be extremely awkward to come across ladies you paroled with in school, but their economic standing has surpassed yours as a man. ![]() |
The day HushPuppi will be released eh! If the dude runs for an electoral office, he would win by a landslide. |
Rictech:Google search: https://www.reddit.com/r/japanlife/comments/17ov3t0/massive_list_of_international_food_stores_that/ Many websites were listed that sell ethnic food items. I rely on Shinjuku because it is the number one for African foods. The rest mostly cater to non-Africans. If the item is not in Shinjuku, I would rather wait, and when available, I purchase enough to last for months. |
SonOfWords:Will PH boys do the same to Duncan Mighty? Most likely not. |
uchman:Okay. I fully understand it now. Please do you speak Chinese? If yes, to what level? |
Zionmdde:Even though I am not a fan of building unnecessarily big houses in Nigeria, which one is the "dumb" story? Did you experience the Civil War as they did? Within the past two years, similar rhetoric has resurfaced, so they were right. |
uchman:Black women friendly* Japan is the friendliest of all. China is second. Singapore is the most friendliest, but it is way too elite for most Black Africans in terms of work visas. Japan is good because she can get a job in corporate Japan if she speaks the language. The same for China, but the competition is stiffer. The competition in Singapore is the stiffest, considering English is widely spoken. Well, with your experience, you have seen the reason why I stated this: Gerrard59:[/quote] |
uchman:Then, in this case, she should continue with her job in the federal school while you build capital and expertise. Then apply for a PhD fully prepared with all docs, tests and applications. Application fees should not be a problem. That is where your built-up capital becomes useful. Australia is better off and within the Asia-Pacific region. In all, na money be the koko. So build up the capital and strike hard when it is time. Also my main business in Nigeria that I am well known for is used auto parts, I feel like I will do fine scrapping cars in Japan while supporting my family with bills. This is something I have not written about here, but the car parts/container business I have seen here (I am a member of the Igbo Union in my region) does not look profitable to me and is physically demanding. Without sounding immodest, I can make that kind of money in my family's business back home once I am in full control. Don't get me wrong: there is money, just not the kind of money I want or the kind of money I expected. I have met another man who said there is money doing the same business in China rather than Japan because goods are cheaper, and this is true. See the new rave behind young people visiting China, even to the factories for goods. You don't have such here, and factory goods are usually cheaper or more affordable for Nigerians. Although goods from Japan have higher quality, but pricing is the issue for Nigerians. The weak yen might help businesses more now than when I got in. Nevertheless, not the kind of money I am interested in. Lastly, I have businesses running for me from China to Nigeria because I have a Chinese resident permit and can fly to China from Japan anytime I need to meet factories I produce with in China and flying from China to Japan ain’t that expensive.Your decision to live in either country is your choice, and I respect it. |
Philosopher1979:Fair assessment. Hopefully, we have more of this rhetoric across social media platforms in the country. The belief that everyone is rich in Nigeria is untrue. The belief that every thriving or hustling young man is into fraud or every young lady is into hookups is misplaced. Most importantly, Nigeria is a country of many ethnic nations: so people should not generalise what happens in their ethnic nations towards others. |
guobe:Why shouldn't we compare tribalism to racism? Aren't both forms of discrimination? |
The thread should be closed. The two commentators have done justice to it. Saying Jamaica does not receive tourists nullified everything. There is nothing fascinating or nice about winters, especially frigid ones with no escape for the sun. Caribbean islands still get tourists, notwithstanding the alarmist rhetoric about insecurity. As gun-shooting as Jamaica is or "unsafe" as the Bahamas might be, they get tons of tourists from the US, Canada and the UK. More multimillion-dollar hotels are built across Jamaica, Barbados and the Bahamas every Eke market day. Lastly, the majority of "tourists" into Nigeria are Nigerians: first and second generation. Nigeria does not attract foreign tourists as our counterparts in Southern and Eastern Africa do. In fact, more tourists troop into Ghana than Nigeria. Detty December came as a result of the Ghanaian initiative to commemorate the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. Detty December didn't originate from Nigeria. Na so dem talk say South Africa is crime ridden, yet tourists steadily flock into the country. |
luminouz:Honestly, the life of a man, regardless of where he lives, is very hard and full of responsibilities. It is much better in richer countries (which have their own issues), but the life of a man is just full of work, work and work. I thank God for the comfort he has provided my family, but when I think of the scenario where I am a husband and father, it gives me issues. It is now that I further appreciate the sacrifices my dad went through. So far, I don analyse am tire - the best solution is to have a few children. When I see men with three, four or five children, I raise cap for them. |
I opened the thread to confirm my bias: we would have more male commentators have a say. Interestingly, most of these male commentators did not comment on the previous thread. |
Ofodirinwa:South Africa is richer and more advanced than Nigeria. So, having 500 airports is okay. South Africa is not our mate on the continent. The aviation industry has a thin profit margin, and globally, only a few airlines are consistently profitable. For us to have thriving airports, the country has to be rich, as we are the "richest" country in West Africa, and with such wealth, many Nigerians don't fly consistently, how much folks in Niger, Ghana, Mauritania and Senegal? The country has to be rich so the wealth spreads to many neighbouring countries, especially in Central Africa, such as Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and the like. So when we have states like Ebonyi and Abia (two of the poorest states in the southeast) and Ekiti having airports, it amuses me. What annoys me is how the indigenes arrogantly and ignorantly defend the need for these states to have airports. Anambra did not need an airport when there is one in nearby Asaba. In fact, Asaba did not need an airport as there was already one in Benin City. Uyo did not need an airport when the Margaret Ekpo International (only in the name) airport exist and there is a thriving Omagwa Airport in Port-harcourt. Imagine a poor Abia having an airport when there are FIVE nearby states with airports and four within an hour and a half drive? In 2013, it took 30 minutes or 45 minutes if the driver drove slowly to get to Calabar from Uyo. Today, it takes at least 5 hours. Better roads or airports, which benefit more people? What we need are high-speed railways connecting major cities across these states. Abia should collaborate with other states in the region to build cargo railways that terminate in the Onne area of Rivers state. Furthermore, collaborate with governors and political elites in the north east so their goods can be swiftly transported. Cross River, Taraba, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Benue can spearhead this move. These things are not rocket science. Here: Air traffic has not hit pre-COVID levels: https://businessday.ng/aviation/article/nigerias-air-traffic-yet-to-hit-pre-covid-era-as-peers-see-steady-growth/ We are too poor to have many airports. Aside from the airports in Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Rivers, the rest should be closed or used as regional train stations. |
JASONjnr:Nigeria needs GDP growth rate of at least 10% per annum for ten uninterrupted years for development to take place. When development takes place and people can afford their basic needs consistently and comfortably, then airports can thrive. |
hegelian:Don't mind them. Anytime a Nigerian complains of racism, I chuckle. ![]() |
owobokiri:Humans are tribal. You people practice tribalism on Nairaland, but you don't want the white man to practice his? |
dominique:Maybe those Christians would rather live in their ancestral lands than in a foreign land. Abi you think say na everybody wan japa even if offered the opportunity? ![]() |
LordBiden:lol People wey dey lack essential nutrients for body? ![]() |
Kaczynski:A Black man who is financially comfortable should raise his family in Vietnam or Indonesia? ![]() Wetin I no go see for Obasanjo Internet. I agree that if Japan is not feasible in the meantime, better China. But I think he wants a long-term residence like PR (not possible in China). Unfortunately, laws are changing and more new rules are expected between 2026 - 2027. Getting them to China and enrolling in a Japanese language school is better than them being in Nigeria if the end goal is Japan. |
JESHAL007:So far, many married men across social media platforms have disputed it. While being a biased environment to take up such a survey, the men who lodged and spent the most in my family's hospitality business were mainly married men from all walks of life. Even the men whom I thought were single were actually married with children. But they paid ahead to secure rooms and had different women. I saw this too amongst my male lecturers - all except one sha (no girl had an encounter with him) had mistresses. These were married men. We have had our women screaming that too much sex is an issue for them IN MARRIAGE, and their favourite arrogant question: "Is sex food?" Various studies clearly show that married men patronise sex workers way more than single men. So, it is not true that married men derive sex more frequently than their bachelor counterparts. |
emmaodet:I like your explanations, but the quoted post by JESHAL is realistic because there are examples to glean from. He is right that with a functioning or semi-functioning government, marriage and fertility rates in Nigeria, especially the southern part, will plunge. Already, the south has a lower fertility rate than the north. So, imagine a prosperous Nigeria that is like Malaysia. Using the Malaysian example, the fertility rate amongst the Chinese is below 1.0, which is way lower than that of Malays at 1.9 - 2.1. Prosperous countries tend to be less religious, and our Christian population is largely influenced by Western culture and lifestyle. I even project that divorce rates shoot up and the willingness to marry nosedives in the north in a prosperous Nigeria. Another example is how our women (mostly Christian) who live in the West are open to being single for life, divorcees (with most initiating the break-up) and lesbians. In summary, with the current poverty and Southern Nigeria being more prosperous than Northern Nigeria and having a lower fertility rate, a Malaysian replica will see it plummet further. |
uchman:Good luck tho, but from my experience so far, I would rather raise a fully Black family in a Black dominated country. Best of wishes! |
ariesbull:Their fertility rates will never increase until marriage rates shoot up. Children are best raised in a marriage setting, so when there is a decline in marriages, fertility rates will not increase. Only a major social upheaval like war can lead to an increase in the fertility rate. If the effects of coronavirus could not lead to an increase in the fertility rate, no major disease outbreak can do so. |
Walai:In which region are you based? If there are millions of unmarried ladies out there, there are equally millions of unmarried men. The terrible Nigerian economy by Buhari and Tinubu are the root causes. |
Emmabyte:That's the major reason many who love to marry are yet to get married - the economy nosedived since 2015. |
NiRfreak:Again, this is why you need to sieve everything you read/consume on social media. Shey e don affect you now to the extent you're changing words? This is why extremism has never been a good thing. All the bad narrative will one day hit home. So, how do you defend your sisters when you held similar views which now affect them? How do you align with people whose views you espoused, but now reject simply because your sisters are affected? So suddenly your sisters have become good women because they're 30 and unmarried, but other 30 year old ladies were bad? When I talk say make una dey go better schools, you people disagree only to attend poorly run British universities run by lovey-dovey woke administrators. |
SuperOnyi:I partly agree with your thoughts. The social media anti-men rhetoric between 2015 - 2022 really changed how both genders viewed and interacted with themselves. It's the teens and adolescents I sympathise with as they will have traumatic views towards the opposite sex even before any encounter because of their older siblings/relatives and online narratives. Nevertheless, people are still marrying, at least in Nigeria. So nothing spoil. |
NiRfreak:Stop listening to these people. Most are illiterates, poorly educated and have limited exposure. See how their illiteracy works: they say would-be wives shouldn't be liabilities, yet they want to marry 20 year olds. Tell me, how many 20 year olds in Nigeria have graduated and begun working? How many 20 year olds have built thriving businesses enabling them to sustain themselves as adults? These people are illiterates! |
Jman06:Again, this is why everyone on social media needs to sieve out what they read. It's not every post, tweet or video you believe hook, line and sinker. People's posts are reflections of their exposure, education levels, financial status and general outlook of life. |
