arantess: 10 years ago when the kids were born, was nigeria not better off? People used sawdust as fuel during Abacha's regime. The only time in memorable history that Nigeria had it good economically was Obasanjo to Jonathan. Go and check the records, ever since 2015, we've not attained a GDP growth rate of 5%. Do you know what it means for a rapidly growing country to run a decade with anaemic economic growth? If people who experienced Buhari go on to have more children than they can adequately take care, anything they see, they should take it like that. |

Sometimes, one wonders if the the people fanning the fire of tribalism have never transacted anything or worked with or lived with someone from an entirely different ethnic group.
But then, Nigerian politicians and even so-called educated Nigerians have done the above, so one is forced to believe so many people are diabolically tribalistic. |

I've seen that picture elsewhere on Facebook and the first thought was "if he had two children, he wouldn't be so bothered".
I kuku know myself. Na me get the preek. I didn't come into this world only to raise children. I came into this world to make money and enjoy my life to the fullest.
I've read where our men say "tie the woman with belly", "oh, she don recover and is becoming beautiful, give am belly make she continue with childbearing" etc. Yes, the first five years gets a woman tied down with childbearing and child-raising. After that, she becomes free and the next fifteen years is largely on the man. Should the man perform abysmally, he would be derided and looked down at (it's biblical anyway). So, our men should know that to raise a child means you provide 18-25 years of your life, energy and money. Three children means 18 * 3 = 54; 18 *4 = 72. To the age of 25 means: 25 * 3 = 75: 25 *4 = 100
It doesn't mean you must live up to 100 years (what's our life expectancy rate?), but you're expected as the man to provide for that long. Remember, no one cares whether you are able to, but it's your responsibility to do so. So before you think giving woman belly ties her down, think deeply. |

lecturer50: A man goes to meet a woman, begs her and she plays hard to get before accepting him. No be juju be that? If the woman wanted sex so much, why isn't she the one who approach the man, beg him and give him money?
Why beg someone to give her pleasure and money? Why do men not come to the understanding that a woman is the one who suppose to beg men and pay him to satisfy her because men use more energy and women have deeper orgasm than men.
You are sexually starved and I come and beg you, pay you and then take drugs to satisfy you.
soon There's something you need to understand about the male reproductive system. Men seek sex way more than women. Most women don't even reach climax when they have sexual intercourse with men. Men get the urge to have sex every day. That's a biological phenomenon powered by the hormone testosterone. Women can stay for long without having sex. Men cannot. It affects their mental wellbeing. The average Nigerian woman cannot be sex starved. That's impossible. The average Nigerian man's preek is one of the cheapest commodities in the country. So, how can a woman be sex starved? |

wirinet: Contrary to popular misconceptions, socialism is not about distributing wealth without first creating it. It's has historically led a small group of people to invade, exploit, and even enslave others in order to claim these resources for themselves.
Interestingly, many of the most peaceful, stable, and morally grounded nations today are those with strong socialist principles.
result, conflicts were relatively rare. But as capitalist ideals took root—especially through colonization and foreign influence—competition replaced cooperation. Today, we see not just inter-tribal conflicts, but family feuds over land and inherited property, reflecting the divisive nature of resource ownership under capitalism. You made great points in your critique of capitalism that even myself (a strong pro-capitalism) finds very wonderful.. However, regarding the bold, it only happens in largely homogeneous countries. Homogenity based on: - racial/ethnic homogenity - linguistics homogenity - religious homogenity Nigeria is too ethnically and religiously fractured to have socialism. It just wouldn't work. It can work in Namibia or Botswana, but not Nigeria. |

43Ronin: There's nothing sophisticated about tribal bigotry, or underdeveloping a place that used to be cosmopolitan. If you guys are as sophisticated as claimed, other SW states would have been following Lagos closely in development, but move around SW cities, its a complete shíthole. Look at Ogun state, blessed with immense IGR yet it looks like Gaza. When I resided in ND I used to think governors from the SS & SE were the worst untill i had a project is 4 SW states i was disappointed in omoluabis. It was an eyesore. Its the widespread poverty & underdevelopment in those SW states that make you guys claim Lagos. If your states were ok, you wouldn't give 2 fcuks about lagos Oh! This is true as well. Gbawe, a known Nairalander spread propaganda that Osun state was the best thing since sliced bread under Aregbe only for everyone to see the financial ruins he left the state in. It was until my service years I realised there were bad roads in the country. Ogun had and still has absolutely terrible road infrastructure! The worst I've seen in my life! As for your first line, the average Nigerian believes in tribal demonism even if they are suffering. So, it's perfectly normal to think that way. My own is that Igbos should learn and stop being stubborn. When one see tribal wickedness, one has to change with the times. |

MightySparrow: Charlie boy does not understand that his sin is tribal not personal. When Lagos State of Assembly decided to be speaking Yoruba, dressing in Yoruba attire, they are simply telling you that Lagos is not a ' No Man's Land's. Lagos wants to uproot your history, remembrance and legacies such that in few decades to come, no Igbo man will have any identification than signpost if his business.
You guys are bringing this upon yourselves. This is the sophistication we are talking about- fighting without noise. You cannot challenge the move in court. Even the courts are filled with yorubas everywhere.
When will igbos be wise? In the same vein, Igbo presidency would be very difficult in Nigeria. Keep up making money and be developing your Lagos as the extension of your Igbo states. I don't know if you're Igbo or not, but this is great summation. My people would never listen and learn. However, the tribal hatred is going to affect so many Igbo/Yoruba mixed children in the next decade. Also, Lagos born and bred Igbos, including those who speak Yoruba, would experience issues. But hey, that's oNe nIgErIa for everyone. |

I do monitor the portal daily to track the progress which is still at campus procedures. I was hoping my CoE would be out by at most, 2nd week of August. Yesterday Friday July, I received a notification that I should update my visa application center as there's no Japan embassy in Lagos, rather Abuja. I replied that Japan now have a JVAC (Japan Visa Application Center) in Lagos under the authority of Japan embassy in Abuja. I attached both official website and physical locations. Initially, I was hoping my CoE would be ready latest 2nd week of August. I have now gone ahead to download the visa form so as to get used to it and get ready when my CoE is out. I have equally attached the screenshot for your guidance, Cc Black.briar and Gerra.rd59 can I use my NIN here: ID number issued to you by your government, ? Yes, use your NIN. It is a surprise there are now centres outside the embassy to apply for a visa. During my time when I applied for the visa twice (both were granted), I never saw such. Everything was conducted at the embassy. Since it is the weekend, send a reply to the same address with the direct link to the embassy and where the embassy made that announcement. This is to further prove that such an approved centre exists. Best of wishes! Once the COE is granted, a visa is certain. |

TechAI: My main concern is the cost of clearing those cars in Nigeria.
I’m currently speaking with a car dealer in Cotonou, and what surprises me is that the prices aren’t significantly different from what’s available in Nigeria. At most, there’s a difference of about ₦1 million to ₦2 million.
I’m referring to the total cost — purchase, shipping, and clearing — compared to buying directly from Cotonou. Another idea came to mind: what if we purchase the car ourselves, ship it through Cotonou, clear it there, and then have someone bring it into Nigeria? So far you would pay duty for the imported car, it's bound to be expensive in Nigeria. In fact, this thread has made understand why second hand Japanese cars aren't exported to Nigeria. Since China is largely regulatory, it means our people do not have the money to purchase clean, not stolen and accident free second hand cars. Mini-buses are "cut" into pieces so they fill up a container. This cannot be performed on a car. If it's personal use and you really like a particular model that's meant for the Asian market, you could go ahead. Else, buy the car from a car stand in Nigeria. |

Jman06: Some of the private and missionary establishments actually need to be checked. Things like minimum wage and hazard allowances should also be enforced across sectors such that someone working in the private sector can enjoy similar pay as his counterpart doing the same job in the public sector. The disparity in pay between workers of both sectors in Nigeria is too wide and that contribute to the unemployment problem we have in Nigeria. Many people sector workers in Nigeria see themselves as unemployed That has to do with the corrupt and wicked nature of most Nigerians. If there are provisions for that and the money is not remitted to those who deserve it, then the blame is on those at the helm of affairs. I hope you also know that minimum wage has a specific number of employees the company should have. Nevertheless, a major factor for the low salaries is the population. Salaries are equally lower in Vietnam and India. Too many mouths. Yet people still dey born born born. |
Family › Re: The Harsh Truth About Moving Back To Nigeria! by Gerrard59(m): 3:09am On Jul 26, 2025 |
Rubyjade: Here’s a harsh truth about moving back to Nigeria that many returning Nigerians (especially from the diaspora) often realize too late: "You may be overqualified, underconnected, and mentally unprepared for the chaos."
Let’s break it down:
1. Overqualified but underutilized Your foreign degree or experience might not give you the edge you think it will. Many companies still prioritize "who you know" over "what you know." You could be competing with local candidates who understand the system and are willing to be paid less. 2. Your mindset may clash with the system If you've lived in a structured, rule-based society, adapting to Nigeria's “anything-goes” approach can be jarring.
Bribery, power outages, internet issues, and poor customer service may become everyday frustrations.
Expect delays, inefficiencies, and a culture where speaking up may be viewed as arrogance, not assertiveness. 3. Old connections fade fast Many of the friends, family, and contacts you once had might have moved on.
You may face envy, suspicion, or resentment, especially if people think you’re coming back "to show off."
Rebuilding a reliable circle takes time, and loneliness can hit hard.
4. The cost of living isn't as cheap as you think Imported goods, secure housing, and quality healthcare/schools can be very expensive.
Trying to maintain a "foreign standard" of living in Nigeria can burn through your savings quickly.
5. Your safety and sanity are not guaranteed Security is a real concern — kidnappings, fraud, and police harassment happen more than they should.
You may constantly have to "watch your back" in ways you never did abroad.
The brutal reality: “Nigeria can humble you, frustrate you, and teach you resilience — all in one week.”
It’s not all bad — many who return thrive. But it takes strategy, adaptability, strong connections, and a clear WHY for coming back. If this is not AI, then it is a brilliant summation. I wonder how these new returnee girls on YouTube navigate their time in Nigeria. But then, there are many successful Nigerian returnees or maybe because I am only focused on the success stories sef. |

From this thread, it has been revealed that most of the imported cars in Nigeria are stolen or accidented. This means we're too poor to buy good second hand cars from the abroad that have not been stolen. At the same time, we are too poor to buy brand new cars.
In summary, we are very poor as citizens, and very poor for the arrogance we exhibit.
Wow! I never knew we could be this poor that most of the second hand cars from the abroad are either stolen or accidented. |
