My candid career advice especially if you're not from Lagos/SW or weren't born and bred in Lagos: if you get a job, especially from a good company, in Lagos, accept it. Work, garner and hone your experience. Expand your network. Then you can move elsewhere or to your preferred region. The exposure is priceless. |
These people never listen! Here: https://www.nairaland.com/1392990/igbo-governance-lagos/6#126149517 I have written what Lagos based Igbos ought to do. You cannot compare the pragmatic cultural nature of Anglophones to Black Africans. Even then, there is a limit as humans are tribal. No native would be comfortable to have its politics dominated by foreigners. This is a global phenomenon. |
psychologist:This is very sad o. Sri Lanka? ![]() |
Xilsbridalhouse:Scotland has got good universities. I was a bit surprised St Andrews is highly ranked. It's just that the UK doesn't have a strong manufacturing industry compared to say Germany or Big Daddy China. So, the post-postgraduate options are fewer. Any country with a population above 50m needs a strong manufacturing sub-sector. You shouldn't expect many Africans to study there as the tuition fees are high and many sub-Saharan African economies aren't performing so well. South Africans are better placed to afford the fees, but South Africa has got good schools and the competition isn't as fierce as in China. The higher education industry in Anglophone West depends heavily on Chinese students yet their governments are anti-China. Talk about ungratefulness! |
Ilekokonit:Cossy didn't have the Internet to monetise and dollarise her earnings. There was a lawmaker from Ebonyi who made money out of the same industry as she did hers in the US before returning to Nigeria. If Cossy was in her prime today, she would have been a naira multimillionaire. With Onlyfans, its Nigerian version, Snapchat, Telegram groups, WhatsApp groups, Tinder etc. Nah! Cossy would have been rich! Ultimately, just as in tech, agribusiness or oil and gas, everyone needs to save, then invest and then diversify to build a sustainable source of income till they kpeme. BTW, Cossy still gets called up for concerts. I saw a banner of such that held in Osun. |
This is cruel and terrible. Angelfrost:Just as one entrepreneur influencer on Facebook mocked those who say "let Nigeria not happen to you", even though crimes happen in the abroad. The difference is that the culprit in the abroad would be arrested, charged and penalised. This is not the first one chance incident in Abuja and the elites are okay with it. The kind of demonic evil most Nigerians, especially the so-called educated ones, have puzzles me. |
GloriousGbola:That's all? It means single mothers and fathers, especially the former, go plenty for Northern Nigeria. The insecurity too hasn't helped. |
Isn't that the kind of woman alpha males have preached that men should marry? My fair advice is that if she ticks your boxes on other aspects, you can go ahead to marry her. Just don't use her for sex alone, else you will make another lady become wild and a man hater. There are many of them on Obasanjo Internet, especially on TwitterNG.If she doesn't tick your boxes regarding marriage, let her go. Don't force it. We've too many damaged people in that dating scene in Nigeria. Please don't worsen it for incoming participants. P.S. If you really cherish sex and don't want it to be weaponised during marriage (this happens to most married men), let her go. From your description, she will sexually frustrate you in marriage. But wait o, she gave you a talking stage form to fill? |
PDPdestroyer:The David Hundeyin guy has not apologised for deceiving the public and his mostly credulous supporters for airing mendacious information about Dangote's refinery. I recall when he was at the forefront of dishing out claims that the refinery wouldn't eventually refine any crude. Thank God I wasn't active on Twitter and Dangote, as an individual and company, didn't bother to reply. I followed updates from Nairametrics and the Dangote group to keep a clear mind. Else, I don't see why someone should criticise and even pray that a major industrial facility shouldn't materialise, yet when that facility has materialised, rather than apologise, he goes ahead to lend support to the same man and his company. People like him are largely shamele.ss and innately dishonest! |
AllBlack:Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Gmail, Microsoft, Apple, Netflix, Oracle, Twitter etc., are owned by Americans and adhere to US military institutions when needed. Why the sudden dislike for TikTok and OPAY because they're owned by the Chinese? FYI, Moniepoint has the British International investment Inc as an investor, so the UK government has access to the same data you're criticising China for. Everyone does it. Why single out China? |
ednut1:Interesting. It's always good to hear from both sides. So Naira is innocent. Man has to be careful in most areas of life. Any small thing, reputation goes down the drain. |
ppogba:Maybe I didn't frame it well, but actually frequent ejaculation reduces the chances of prostate cancer. See here: https://www.health.harvard.edu/mens-health/ejaculation_frequency_and_prostate_cancer I agree with the other reason why a woman might be needed. |
Looking at the photo, Nigerian elites are one and the same. How come this does not translate into meaningful development for the majority of the citizenry is appalling. |
Mankind2024:I have seen this happen with many men, and it is going to be worse now and in the future with modern women who earn their money (some earn more than men sef), unlike most of their mothers. The solution as a man is to have fewer children, undergo vasectomy, have concubines to prevent prostate cancer, engage in constant exercise, adopt/develop new hobbies, especially mentally stimulating ones, travel as one's pocket can afford, etc.. Ultimately, the best solution is to have fewer children, as that enables the man to save and invest for his retirement years. Nothing beats having fewer children. As men, we shouldn't just come into this world to raise children, but to make money and enjoy life. |
Solcampbell:Thank you so much for the information and narrative. I appreciate. P.S. I agree that Islam is the most conservative of all religions, and sometimes I don't just view it as a religion, but a political ideology. P.S. I am not surprised by the rate of divorces in the north, as Kano was once ranked among the states with the highest divorce rates. This means there is a high number of single mothers in the north. So, the south is not worse off even though it is seen as "immoral". P.S. Men would always be men. Testosterone is a hormone, not a m oron. Why the same men criticise sex workers is beyond reasoning. |
Don't be surprised he was receiving BJ when he posted this message. I had such persons in school, both students and lecturers, who will admonish those who had sex but they had theirs as well. Student pastors o, Mary Amaka girls o, lecturers who were openly prudish etc., they fvcked endlessly only to lie in public! The majority of Nigerian religious clerics and practioners don't practice what they preach. |
gidgiddy:Well, if the natives say they don't like a particular concept in their country introduced by foreigners, the foreigners have no option than respecting it. |
Another fake story. Lots of such fairytales these days. |
sulaak:That's better than constituting nuisance in another man's country. Citizens should respect themselves when outside their countries/regions. |
SeriouslySense:I've been shouting on this forum regarding the bold, but I've been accused of being someone with low self esteem and timidity. Imagine reading that our people are doing yahoo yahoo and ritualism in Cambodia? Causing nuisance in China? When you tell them to behave accordingly, they call it low self esteem. |
Well, it's Liberia, not Nigeria or South Africa. He knows his limit. Ordinarily, he should have known that Liberia is an American creation in Africa and thus, they would speak almost like Americans. But that's Trump for you. |
Largely in the Ndi Western world. Here, women put iPhones in their back pocket. In Singapore, people use expensive gadgets and wallets to "chope" aka reserve seats at restaurants. The problem with open borders characterised by lax law enforcement. |
Tightpussy2024:Fair analysis. This boils down to the state of the economy, but generally, our men hunt for sex very relentlessly. However, the cases you outlined do not correlate with your niece's experience. Or men in their late 40s who are struggling looking for a 23 year old FINANCIALLY STABLE girls for marriage in order to dodge providing (we all know the financial class of men that always insist on young girlsDoes this really happen? A man in his late 40s seeking a young lady in her early twenties for marriage? A lass who is financially stable as well? I really doubt. Maybe mid-30s, but definitely not almost 50. c'mon |
Solcampbell:I am curious, are virgins so abundant in most parts of northern Nigeria? If so, what is the stat like amongst Christians vs Muslims (I assume Muslims will be the majority due to sheer preponderance in population). If there the preponderance of virgins is high across the region, how do young northern males handle their sexual urge? |
Gerrard59:I had to ask a friend about the salary scale of PhD grads who are employed as lecturers: - yes, phd holder collect a little bit more than assistant lecturer. as at now, the monthly salary for assistant lecturer is not upto 200K. - phd holder for unilag starts from 200K to 250K. Phd holders take positions of lecturer II, Lecturer I and above. Assistant lecturer position is for individuals who are yet to complete their phds - but i heard there are other state university that pays more, we use the CONUASS payment scale So Peller did well. Anyone who does not like it shouldn't bother to apply. That is the beauty of freedom. |
VladimirTheGrea:After they gave us 5 years validity, but we did not offer them 5 years as well. Fair enough. |
First, it is a sacrilege to compare the US to Nigeria. We don't just meet up. That is the bare truth. As for migrating and economic opportunities, the US is the best place for skilled Black professionals. A Senegalese friend who did a one month stint at a research institute narrated how the salaries of researchers in similar positions earn 3X what he earns as a researcher working in Yokohama. This is someone who has a PhD and speaks very good Japanese. However, he stated that the cost of living is way higher and one thing he noticed is that a car is a necessity, unlike in Japan. VladimirTheGrea:Agreed that the US is not the only haven for opportunities, but for Black immigrants? It is the best place. The stats prove it. African Americans are the wealthiest set of Black people in the world. Last month, I conversed with a Taiwanese-American who worked in HR, and she attested that many of the scholarships American companies set aside for African Americans were taken up by Nigerians (she did not specify the generation). The companies were worried because these people are clearly not those who deserve this support, but because they meet up the requirements and are categorised as Black people, hey, what can they do? Nigerians, according to her, flood the NASA and top academic institutions/companies in the US. At recruitment fairs, they take up juicy positions. The rant about racism is largely meaningless considering most Nigerians are tribal dem0ns. |
abuhusna1:I am curious, what about MBA grads? What are their chances? Or are those business courses dependent on the university one graduated from? |
