CareerRe: Why Graduates Are Leaving Lagos For Smaller Cities by Gerrard59(m): 8:54am On Jul 14, 2025
My candid career advice especially if you're not from Lagos/SW or weren't born and bred in Lagos: if you get a job, especially from a good company, in Lagos, accept it. Work, garner and hone your experience. Expand your network. Then you can move elsewhere or to your preferred region. The exposure is priceless.

I have written what Lagos based Igbos ought to do. You cannot compare the pragmatic cultural nature of Anglophones to Black Africans. Even then, there is a limit as humans are tribal. No native would be comfortable to have its politics dominated by foreigners. This is a global phenomenon.

Scotland has got good universities. I was a bit surprised St Andrews is highly ranked. It's just that the UK doesn't have a strong manufacturing industry compared to say Germany or Big Daddy China. So, the post-postgraduate options are fewer.

Any country with a population above 50m needs a strong manufacturing sub-sector.

You shouldn't expect many Africans to study there as the tuition fees are high and many sub-Saharan African economies aren't performing so well. South Africans are better placed to afford the fees, but South Africa has got good schools and the competition isn't as fierce as in China. The higher education industry in Anglophone West depends heavily on Chinese students yet their governments are anti-China. Talk about ungratefulness!

Those who care how their actions will affect their relatives and how their relatives including Mum and Dad will feel about the ridicule and shame will press the stop button just before bringing embarrassment to their parents and their unborn children.

This kind of fame does not last. Cossy Orjiakor did more than this but she is a nobody today.
Cossy didn't have the Internet to monetise and dollarise her earnings. There was a lawmaker from Ebonyi who made money out of the same industry as she did hers in the US before returning to Nigeria. If Cossy was in her prime today, she would have been a naira multimillionaire. With Onlyfans, its Nigerian version, Snapchat, Telegram groups, WhatsApp groups, Tinder etc. Nah! Cossy would have been rich! Ultimately, just as in tech, agribusiness or oil and gas, everyone needs to save, then invest and then diversify to build a sustainable source of income till they kpeme.

BTW, Cossy still gets called up for concerts. I saw a banner of such that held in Osun.

Just because you are in your own little secure space in Lagos, you get offended when others complain of poor leadership and insecurity.
Just as one entrepreneur influencer on Facebook mocked those who say "let Nigeria not happen to you", even though crimes happen in the abroad. The difference is that the culprit in the abroad would be arrested, charged and penalised. This is not the first one chance incident in Abuja and the elites are okay with it.

The kind of demonic evil most Nigerians, especially the so-called educated ones, have puzzles me.

Isn't that the kind of woman alpha males have preached that men should marry? huh My fair advice is that if she ticks your boxes on other aspects, you can go ahead to marry her. Just don't use her for sex alone, else you will make another lady become wild and a man hater. There are many of them on Obasanjo Internet, especially on TwitterNG.

If she doesn't tick your boxes regarding marriage, let her go. Don't force it. We've too many damaged people in that dating scene in Nigeria. Please don't worsen it for incoming participants.

P.S. If you really cherish sex and don't want it to be weaponised during marriage (this happens to most married men), let her go. From your description, she will sexually frustrate you in marriage.

But wait o, she gave you a talking stage form to fill? shocked shocked Oh my God! Is that how people do now? I might as well remain single!

The David Hundeyin guy has not apologised for deceiving the public and his mostly credulous supporters for airing mendacious information about Dangote's refinery. I recall when he was at the forefront of dishing out claims that the refinery wouldn't eventually refine any crude. Thank God I wasn't active on Twitter and Dangote, as an individual and company, didn't bother to reply. I followed updates from Nairametrics and the Dangote group to keep a clear mind. Else, I don't see why someone should criticise and even pray that a major industrial facility shouldn't materialise, yet when that facility has materialised, rather than apologise, he goes ahead to lend support to the same man and his company.

People like him are largely shamele.ss and innately dishonest!

1. Concubines and constant sex does not prevent prostate cancer. No scientific proof to this please.

With all the money to travel and vacation around the globe, without a woman around you, that may just be like licking sugar to sweeten your heart. Like I said on this earlier, when a man is abandoned by his children and wife, all you need is another woman beside you in the form of either a divorcee or a widower. Especially when you have enough in retirement benefits. That is not the time to claim holy holy for the sake of your sanity.
Maybe I didn't frame it well, but actually frequent ejaculation reduces the chances of prostate cancer.

See here: https://www.health.harvard.edu/mens-health/ejaculation_frequency_and_prostate_cancer

I agree with the other reason why a woman might be needed.

MEN DO NOT BENEFIT FROM MARRIAGE!!!

1. He is 72 years old.

2. He has retired from active service.

3. He worked all his life to raise his children.

4. He deprived himself of life's pleasures to pay for expensive school fees and living expenses for his children abroad.

5. They are now well-off in Europe, Australia, and America.

6. His wife, aged 62, has relocated to live with their children.

7. He remains alone back in Nigeria.
.
#naijahotstreetjamzpromoters
I have seen this happen with many men, and it is going to be worse now and in the future with modern women who earn their money (some earn more than men sef), unlike most of their mothers. The solution as a man is to have fewer children, undergo vasectomy, have concubines to prevent prostate cancer, engage in constant exercise, adopt/develop new hobbies, especially mentally stimulating ones, travel as one's pocket can afford, etc.. Ultimately, the best solution is to have fewer children, as that enables the man to save and invest for his retirement years. Nothing beats having fewer children. As men, we shouldn't just come into this world to raise children, but to make money and enjoy life.
FamilyRe: See The Viral Dowry List Prompting Men To Inquire About The Bride’s State. by Gerrard59(m): 12:23am On Jul 11, 2025
Solcampbell:
Good morning, boss. Shey you know say Islam is very strict ba? Much stricter than any other religion in the world.

Since Islam forbids premarital sex, it promotes early marriage and urges simplicity in wedding arrangements so that more people can marry with ease. The bride price can be as low as ₦20,000, and according to Islamic law, it’s meant to go directly to the bride, not her parents. After that, you may host a wedding that suits your budget. If you can’t afford a big event, that’s okay too. Most parents just want to see their daughter move into a decent, lawful marriage with a responsible husband who can shelter and provide for her. But you know how people can be, hide behind religion to do bad things. Since marriage is relatively easy and affordable, a guy can marry a woman with no real commitment and sincerity, use her for two to five years, and then divorce her over something minor. That’s why you’ll find young women, even in their early twenties, already divorced. So if you approach a young woman and show interest in marriage, she’ll usually be honest right away; telling you if she’s been married before or has a child. If you’re okay with that, then things can move forward smoothly. In most cases, the bride price for a divorcee is lower than for a virgin. As a Muslim man, if you marry a woman expecting she’s a virgin and find out otherwise after the wedding night, you’re allowed to take the matter to a Sharia court. If it turns out you were misled, your bride price will be returned.

Based on indigenous northern Christains, obviously their views about premarital sex is expected to be much more relaxed. But that does not mean chastity is entirely absent. I'm sure there are still some young unmarried women there who still choose to remain pure just like you'd find in other tribes and communities across Nigeria. As for the unmarried hausa men, many of them know the road to Sabon Gari as long as they are living in the city grin. That's where they'd go to ease tension. So anytime you hear that hisbah have raided Sabon Gari again, it's not the foreigners they're after. They are coming for thier own people, caught red-handed in red-light districts and sometimes bars. About 70 percent of the clientele there are hausa men (married and unmarried). Apart from Kano, there's definitely a place (s) like sabon gari in kaduna, probably even livelier since kaduna is more liberal. As for the other northern states, I can't say for sure oo...Maybe they're just better at hiding thier own "Sabon Gari"
Thank you so much for the information and narrative. I appreciate.

P.S. I agree that Islam is the most conservative of all religions, and sometimes I don't just view it as a religion, but a political ideology.

P.S. I am not surprised by the rate of divorces in the north, as Kano was once ranked among the states with the highest divorce rates. This means there is a high number of single mothers in the north. So, the south is not worse off even though it is seen as "immoral".

P.S. Men would always be men. Testosterone is a hormone, not a m oron. Why the same men criticise sex workers is beyond reasoning.

Some Africans abroad leave very negative impression, some borrow money and do not return it they give the impression that they are confused and parasitic or crimminal. This is one bad natural habit of a nigerian, they will feel so entitled, always taking but never giving cool

Tightpussy2024:
Oga,high school sweethearts are marrying in the country where I reside.some marry after college, some cohabit and become partners for like a decade before marrying. If they broke up,it will be a case of failed relationship or different goals or growing apart or travelling but not the case of a married man or a man in a committed relationship messaging a 19 year old girl for sex. People, both men and women should marry young or if not financially ready build a relationship till financially ready. This is how it's suppose to be.not a married man promising a 16 year old love and iphone just for vagina.
Fair analysis. This boils down to the state of the economy, but generally, our men hunt for sex very relentlessly. However, the cases you outlined do not correlate with your niece's experience.

Or men in their late 40s who are struggling looking for a 23 year old FINANCIALLY STABLE girls for marriage in order to dodge providing (we all know the financial class of men that always insist on young girls grin )
Does this really happen? A man in his late 40s seeking a young lady in her early twenties for marriage? A lass who is financially stable as well? I really doubt. Maybe mid-30s, but definitely not almost 50.

c'mon

How's this cheap?

You only need half that amount to marry a young virgin lady from a middle class background in the north, including wedding. Except na you wan show off, and it's allowed.
I am curious, are virgins so abundant in most parts of northern Nigeria? If so, what is the stat like amongst Christians vs Muslims (I assume Muslims will be the majority due to sheer preponderance in population). If there the preponderance of virgins is high across the region, how do young northern males handle their sexual urge?

The problem with the Internet is that you have too many people who have never run profitably businesses using their fingers to criticise unnecessarily. The MSc criterion might be to reduce the numbers, as I agree that certain fields should not have strict academic requirements.

Whether what he does is amusing or nonsensical does not count. He solves a problem and makes money out of it.

And how is 500K a poor salary? Isn't that the entry-level salaries by banks in the country?
I had to ask a friend about the salary scale of PhD grads who are employed as lecturers:

- yes, phd holder collect a little bit more than assistant lecturer. as at now, the monthly salary for assistant lecturer is not upto 200K.
- phd holder for unilag starts from 200K to 250K. Phd holders take positions of lecturer II, Lecturer I and above. Assistant lecturer position is for individuals who are yet to complete their phds
- but i heard there are other state university that pays more, we use the CONUASS payment scale

So Peller did well. Anyone who does not like it shouldn't bother to apply. That is the beauty of freedom.

TravelRe: Anyone Who Comes To America And Tells You Not To Come Is Your Worst Enemy by Gerrard59(m): 1:50pm On Jul 09, 2025
First, it is a sacrilege to compare the US to Nigeria. We don't just meet up. That is the bare truth.

As for migrating and economic opportunities, the US is the best place for skilled Black professionals. A Senegalese friend who did a one month stint at a research institute narrated how the salaries of researchers in similar positions earn 3X what he earns as a researcher working in Yokohama. This is someone who has a PhD and speaks very good Japanese. However, he stated that the cost of living is way higher and one thing he noticed is that a car is a necessity, unlike in Japan.

VladimirTheGrea:
Which America? The one Trump is racistly throwing immigrants out?

US is not the only haven for opportunities.
Agreed that the US is not the only haven for opportunities, but for Black immigrants? It is the best place. The stats prove it. African Americans are the wealthiest set of Black people in the world. Last month, I conversed with a Taiwanese-American who worked in HR, and she attested that many of the scholarships American companies set aside for African Americans were taken up by Nigerians (she did not specify the generation). The companies were worried because these people are clearly not those who deserve this support, but because they meet up the requirements and are categorised as Black people, hey, what can they do? Nigerians, according to her, flood the NASA and top academic institutions/companies in the US. At recruitment fairs, they take up juicy positions.

The rant about racism is largely meaningless considering most Nigerians are tribal dem0ns.
