All these ones doesn’t even pain me. At least we know them for who they are. Ordinary Nigerian will help push car off the road and wait behind. Before you know, they will get stone, ask if you want water, by the time they name their bill. I don’t want to say humanity is far from us, but it just have to do with poverty sha. We have a poor mindset and reasoning. Every situation is a chance to take advantage of one another.

I also once got help from police around Villa Gate Abuja, I mistakenly hit the sideways ramp and my tyre got punctured, they saw how the tyre was giving me a hard time so two of them came over rolled up their sleeve and changed my tyre, after they are done I tried giving them tip but they declined. I thanked them and left.

We also have good cops in Nigeria.

I never disputed the fact that we have good cops… but their is a law here and orders. Why will I be in need of help and emergencies and all the police/officials back home could do was to extort me.

Do you know indirectly we’re paying for these peoples salary by renewing our road permit licenses and all.

Road safety is doing the same job police is doing.

VIO same, Lastma, LNSC as join them too so many agencies including task force. Bro many things is totally wrong with my country. You wouldn’t know this until you leave.

This is the humanity we've lost as a nation. Hell, people even find it hard give detailed help on an anonymous forum (Compare threads on Reddit with Nairaland) without dishing out insults.

Aren't you risking a driving ticket with the one handed driving? I wonder if most Naija uber drivers can ever outgrow the "one hand on wheel, the other on phone" driving style?

Brother ordinary Uber forum turned toxic with tribalism and grow adult display of childish behavior…

Brother I’ve master the game though. Good thing here is that they’ll show you signpost of camera ahead either speed or red light camera.

Also I’m driving Porsche 911 currently delivering this to my customer.

Note: have a plan B and japa remember not only Uk/USA be better country try and explore more. When you do try and have their license no matter how expensive it might cost you, you’ll never regret it

God will bless our hustles never give up too.

Something strange happened to me today.

On the highway 6, I got a flat tyre and I parked beside the yellow emergency lane.

To my greatest surprise, cops showed up. I was so afraid that omo na wahala be this…. 😔😔 A Lagos hustler will relate to this kind of thing.

Cop:- you speaks English??

Me: yes I do

Cops:- you got extra tyre 🛞 in there?

Me: yes I do officer

Cops:- we will help you fix it you looked tired 😴 have this water.

I wanted to cry 😢 seeing the humanity in them…

They didn’t asked me anything than this and still gave me water to drink.

I remembered how my own brothers were treating me back home, I couldn’t hold my tears back.

You’ll see your brothers in need and that’s when our officials will devour on you and milk you dry.

Please try and japa don’t let anybody discourage you with everything is expensive… yes is not easy but farrrrrrr better than naija.

Note: japa with right documents and if you do, make sure you abstain from drugs and illegal deals.

Been a while here shocked

Below are few things to lookout when you're in this Uber/Bolt/Indrive hustle (thread).

1. Never let someone earnings doubt your aggressive trying. (Don't think because Mr. A making allot by posting dashboard depreciate your hustling spirit like you're not doing or trying well). There's grace in everything don't get carried away by someone else luck your luck will locate you since you never gave up.

2. Don't get sad by what's currently going on in your life. (Naija is hard, life is generally hard everywhere but naija is terrible. So please don't get depress by your earnings, your car problems, families, bills and lots more. Just keep on doing your things and continue praying for favor and mercy)

3. Try from somewhere and never give up because the world is cold... (If you have nothing doing, or you just been lay off from your job, don't get irritated and been ridiculed by mere Uber driver... Iron your same shirt you used to wear in your office, take on the new challenge go and get a manual from Uber(moove) start something from nothing.
Yes many people will discourage you, but they won't give you one naira) so stand up and take up the fight now.

4. Don't get discouraged by what you read about day to day hustle life story of Nigerians. (Nigerians are terrible people. Yes READ that again and again they're terrible people. Whatever route that's easier for Nigerians, be it japa, connections, update and all of that, Nigerians will always block way for their brothers and sisters... Who to blame The culture I guess.... But then there's still many good Nigerians out there so don't get discouraged if someone come here and cry about how terrible the day is going with the hustle for him/her remember they'll never tell you the time it's been favoring them)

5. Try and learn a skill. (Trust me our forefathers failed us regarding the western nature of education... Don't get me wrong, education is good but skills is great and will help you in every situation you find yourself... I see our system people just keep on running after certificate that'll be thrown later after service... Well you're not too old to get a skill within your area.... Trust me ordinary mechanic you see out there is making allot of money here and believe me the most difficult part of being a mechanic is coupling engine and reboiling... I' can categorically tell you I can fix anything apart from reboiling engine in any brand of cars I blend this within one year) so please check around your vicinity learn any skill be it plumber, electrician, mason, tilers, mechanic, phone fixing just basically anything technical.

6. Never patronize single mechanic for everything. YES read that again, there's mechanic for bushings, hub and other minor works. But then everybody we see wearing their dirty uniform we assume they can fix everything but nope try and check other mechanic see that same thing you're complaining about your car get fix in matter of minutes.

7. If you're above 30s and you've gotten 2kids already, be it 2 girls or 2 boys, sir/ma'am, please put stop to it because the world is evolving and kids are completely liability... Don't take my word as it's seems to sound kids naturally are blessings but then plan ahead for them... to train kids anywhere in the world is very very expensive. I bet you wouldn't want your kids to suffer so try and have a plan for it.

8. If you are yet to marry, I'll beg you to focus on yourself.... There's no late comer in anything try and pay attention to whom you're getting life journey into, make sure both of you are working to subside the hell bills and put a birth control plans ahead to save you from unnecessary pressure.

9. Always dedicate a time to read meaningful and life changing informations (Nigerians hate to read. We love cut corners... Dedicate a time even if it's 1 hour to read infos that'll change your life... Go on nairaland section there are many topics regarding your plans be it travels 🧳 be it skills, be it Uber and all. Check Quora too and read infos)

10. Please don't believe the fools that makes Abroad seems like you're not doing well (see if not because of insecurities and messed up economy, many people would've return... I'm in the system I've been in the system since 2013 so I can tell you experiences upon experiences.... Naija is a place whereby you can come from zero to something in less down 1 year or 6months everything depends on luck. But please 🙏 don't think low of yourself or belittle yourself about the japa things especially if you're above 50yrs)

11. Also try another country (majority of people focused on Canada,UK,USA etc... Bro/sis try and focus on other countries don't believe on beer parlour talks that apart from these 3 countries nowhere is better again.. it's a lie oh cos many people that are on visit visa that sold everything back home just to relocate to Canada or westerns ain't finding it funny at all... It's very hard for tourist/visiting visa.... You wouldn't want to stay in a country whereby ambulance siren will be giving you heart-attack... Please japa with sense either school route, work permit direct, or marriages... Don't japa with visiting and hope it'll be easy oh... It's not green on the other side)

12. Have a plan B in anything you do... (I joined Uber 2018, it's was hell I mean hell, but right from day 1 I got my hire purchase cos I sold my car back then, I have a plan B. Many oldies on this thread know me cos I share my day to day activities here... It's never too late for you to start your own plan B too...)

*:;;-- Plan for the kids

;;;:: plan to japa with right sense

:;--+- if you've been trying UK/USA/Canada and you've been rejected, try other countries too... I'm currently in a country where my English is useless, my certificate is useless all that was needed was my skills and experiences. Many people are in my shoes.. infact those countries pay you well once you start speaking their languages....make research too.

;";-";- japa is not that expensive but agents are expensive... Read that again I did everything myself without spending any money on agent try and read I love midnight reading though.

;"!!''!+ Don't sell your properties all because you wanna japa without plans.... Put plans ahead get your visa ahead and please don't sell your house because someone promised you heaven abroad is a lie nobody is picking money here you got to work hard for it. Everything is tax too so please 🙏 try and get in the system with sense.

;::-++ try and reach out to people... Please country is hard everywhere is very hard, try and use even if it's gonna be WhatsApp message or call to reach out to people... It's might be your call that'll cancel suicide plans of someone.

I remain Ghost1994
Love you all
God will continue to bless us abundantly bye for now

Always remember to read this if you're new to this hustle.

Have a plan B always too

Love you all tongue

Ghost1994:
Raining season is here again. I’ll share my little experience.

1. Avoid alpha beach road patapata during heavy rain

2. Don’t ever try to enter down orchid road no.

3. Try as much as possible to let your pointers, wipers and your dim light working perfectly before jetting out.

4. Avoid places you don’t really know their flood level.

5. During the heavy rain, find somewhere safe to park if you’ve not gotten a trip yet park your car, relax for about 25-40 minutes after the rain Lagos gutters would’ve been cleared a bit to proceed for hustle.

6. Community road Akoka is a death trap. Keep that at the back of your map.

7. It’s a season to make money but then you have to apply wisdom because rider that’s paying x2 of the money would want you to satisfy them by dropping them at their doorstep. But if by the way(s) you suspect the area is prone to flood, sharply end the trip at the beginning of the street offer a rider 100-200naira for his/her bike/keke fare.

8. Try as much as possible to work within the Circe/areas you know too well.

9. Don’t do 80-100klm during heavy. Abeg if you don’t love yourself we do. Why? Brake doesn’t work well when it’s rainy just a simple logic.

10. Off your car ac when you sight heavy flood in a street or on any road. Why? Because most of our cars are above 10yrs ago and there are some components in which water must not get into on your compressor it’ll damage your compressor quickly.

11. Work smart. Yes work smart— don’t work late start early close early. Because you can’t know all the whole roads in Lagos no matter how many decades you’ve been driving on Lagos road. Working late sometimes is a death trap to damage your vehicle because so many bad potholes you might not be able to see are trap to damage your shocks, tyre etc.

12. If you miss your turn, maybe you didn’t calculate well or map malfunctioning, don’t ever bother to reverse never ever think of that. No matter how much rider pressurize you just be calm and let him or her know you’ll remove some money out of his/her bills for compensation. 200-500 naira is Better to let go than loosing your car to accident or road lions (Lastma/Taskforce)

13. Never drag road with trailer or tankers. Those people doesn’t see on a normal day not to talk of rainy days. Be wise don’t let rider sweet talk you to be saying they’re late blablabla you’re not the cause of their lateness.

I’ll share my own work ethics

- I work basically on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday it’s a rushing day.

- I take Thursday off to relax and focus on my course

- Friday yes and Saturday I start working around 2pm why? Well I feel like that’s when the people started rushing out.

- I work on Sunday but I avoid island ajah,Lekki and the rest once it’s 1pm why? When you notice your app you’ll see it’ll all white once is getting to 2pm because riders don Dey house but on like mainland there are many churches. It’s a wisdom.

- routes I avoid on week days are:- 1. Egbeda, Ikeja in the morning is dead, ikotun igando, ekoro road, command road, Iyana ipaja, aboru, lasu, okoko, festac, mile 2, oshodi, Ikorodu never, sangotedo hell no, I can only drop a worthy trip at the airport and jet out immediately I avoid siting and waiting for unrealistic trips in airport unless I’m lucky if I’m driving out and I get a trip.

After Opic Berger I always avoid any trip going after Berger.

How do I cancel? Bolt shows me where I’m going so whenever I’m sure the area is part of my listed dead zone, I click on arrived, passenger phone is not working or passenger ask me to cancel. It’s work like magic on iPhone but not with androids. It’s help me avoiding any conversations with rider.

Note:- I accept every trips coming to my phone no matter how dead it is but I cancel once I feel is not safe for me and my car.

I try as much as possible to select the trip(s) above 1500. How will you know a trip coming to your phone is more than 1500? Any trip be it surge or no surge above 8klm is practically more than 1,500. Note I don’t care how much you collect because of bonus but all I know is that the money is above 1500.

I don’t rush myself any day anytime my target as a car owner per day is 5k for savings 3k to start hustle next day and 2k for feeding/dropping at home.

Why 5k? It’s my logic and it’s been helping save maturely. I used to make x3-4 of my savings sometimes but then it’s just my saving culture I’ll still save all have made. I’ll just called it discipline.

How did you manage cash savings? I store my cash savings somewhere in my living room where I don’t tell anyone and on Thursday Whenever I dropped my son in school, I head straight to bank and deposit to account I don’t have atm or internet banking.

How did you manage your car(s) to serve you well? I avoid most Lagos mechanics 90%. Whatsoever happened to my car like for example let’s say shocks is bad, I will drive my car to market park and pay 5hundred naira I’ll go and get my new shocks, I know how much is leakage, shocks, brake pads, thyroids, fluid, bulbs etc. all I need is to change I don’t manage.

What can make a car to last in these hustle? Cars are like human being, you have to maintain them. I Do a daily routine before I jet out in the morning because I’ll be off sometimes on 9-12 hours on wheel. I check everything I needed to check before jetting out.

I make sure I avoid anything bad route. I don’t carry loads that doesn’t fit in my car trunk. My car is design to carry 4 and yes mini 4 not heavy make ups madams going to party and try to squeeze themselves in my mini sedan no! I don’t carry them I don’t want wahala.

Also, anyday mechanic is fixing one thing or two in my car, I always make sure we do it together. I don’t supervise but we handle it together because mechanic are humans too they might forget to tighten 1 bolt which I’m not perfect either but 2-4 heads is better than 1.

How do you manage a rider whose street is bad and you consider picking him/her? Well the logic i used is straightforward. Many of dead streets have alternative like bike and keke. I’ll put a call through:-

Me: Sir/ma good morning this is the Uber ride you ordered
Rider: Good morning I’ll be expecting you.
M: sir/ma I’m sorry getting to the street now, my car has hit the ground severally it’s a low Corolla/Honda please I don’t mind since you don’t have load I’ll pay for your bike or marwa.

Reasonable rider who value life and property will agreed and even said don’t worry just give me few mins. But i manage if it’s elderly person or rider mentions she’s pregnant I’ll go BUT if rider acting somehow I won’t go.

How can someone makes more saving in this hustle?
1st is Gods grace, 2 is your car is your tools once she doesn’t give you any problem(s) you’ll make savings.

Advice to newbie:- never allow rider to sweet talk you to drop him or her at unreasonable location. Avoid airport just drop off only. Never follow one way or brt lane even if you’re carrying buhari daughter, don’t try to reverse on the highway if you miss your way yes rider will shout but keep calm, make sure you confirm your credit alert before allowing rider off in your car, if you don’t have change offer to transfer airtime as their balance some will say yes and some will tell you to keep the change but remember it’s their money, use rider app to calculate the estimated price of the route you’re heading-it’ll help you determine if the route worth it coupled with the traffic, never fight physically with your rider some are walking ghosts, pay your commission once it’s getting above threshold, read signs, ask riders questions if the map is malfunctioning, join Facebook/WhatsApp/telegram groups to learn more about people’s day to day experiences. Last but first pray to God and follow your instincts.

PLAN FOR FUTURE AND REMEMBER THE HUSTLE SHOULDNT BE FOR A VERY LONG TIME ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN B.

Bye for now

God will continue to help us all

Good day everyone. I need advice:-

I have a 6 speed manual classic Nissan TIIDA 2008 sitting at home everyday. Everything is intact but wifey doesn't know how to drive manual.

Also, I'm not currently not in naija I'm planning on buying auto car for her which she can be using for her businesses and kid(s) runs.

Sir/ma, is it advisable to give this car on rental/hire purchase, or make I kuku leave the car at home sitting idle (this Uber is what I used in owning my first Car through hire purchase which I sold and use in japa) although God has blessed me not that I have billions but I'm very comfortable.

Also I've bought 3 bikes 🚲 for hire purchase which I put my Dad in managing it of which I later regretted it had to tell him to take all the bikes so that I won't get frustrated cos too many complains of not having remittance and all.

I don't really wanna sell the car because the car is my first profit I made over here and I feel is just like I'll be uplifting someone from problem(s).

I'm very afraid to trust people again especially drivers/riders.

I'll appreciate your inputs

I've never see any country leader so useless as our country.... I left Nigeria and where I currently based now, they're not using dollar for any transactions I'm using their local debit card for dollar transactions which is how it's supposed to be in a sane clime.

Dollar card should be optional....

I really missed Nigeria economy of 2007-13 where you can use your naira card to withdraw any currency in the world.

Instead of moving forward, na far backward naija dey move to sad 😭

To be very honest with Nigerians, what nigeria as a country need is referendum or regional leaders.

Nigeria is messed that OBI, Atiku and Bola can't revive it.

This man has been the leader of APC for 7years which means if he had solutions to Nigerians problem, definitely he would've presented it to Buhari cos he had it in mind to come for presidency he wouldn't want His current administration to messed up their plans but trust me he doesn't have anything upstairs just bullshit.

Nigeria is a country where they're not spending coins haaa what a shame.

No records nothing.

I'm 9 months living abroad I never witness a police harassment, police no dey carry Gun like ode, people are mentally stable just do your own and let me do mine, there's plans....

If nigeria can go back to their begining of regional leaders which means we Yoruba if Bola is the only candidate we can present no wahala so be it....

Even if we go bring angel Michael from heaven, he can't revive the heavy messed they've turned naija into.

I pity incoming president Cos naija presidency is design to praise former president than the current one.

God will help us all

Automech 101;
When you have issues with your car, the first thing you must do is to RUN A SCAN don't let Kaseem be doing guess work for you.

You won't spend more than 5k and they will interprete the codes for you that's if you can't interpret yourself. Sometimes it could just be a simple electric fault. Then you will now cause more damage because you never ran a scan. Pls find a technician that knows what he's doing.

The same advice I told him to do... he went to listen to kazeem... kazeem is helping you damaging that car more... very soon he'll suggest you sell the car for him

Wise up how much is obd scanner on jumia maybe 8k calculate how much kazeem make you spent now

Good morning everyone here …
Please I recently just got a Camry 2011 with venza engine … when I got it I didn’t check the transmission oil and stuff … but recently the we found out that it was empty and it couldn’t enter gear … now we bought a the oil [WS oil] but it’s still not working …

A mechanic said we have to change the brain box , another said we need to buy a new gear

Please I’m confused it’s my first car … who can offer professional advice here … please??

First thing to do is find a professional technician... don't listen to kazeems bullcraps... they should diagnose first it's only in that country they'll be using ideas of 1990 bro scan first before anything.

I don't know much about mech but I used to have obd2 scanner and it's really helped me with civic 07... I woke up to start hustling I reverse out from the compound naso the car no enter gear.

I put a call through mechanic said gear.. I wasn't satisfy I scan and check youtube videos it was gear sensor which I bought in owode for 5k I used 10spanner lose it myself and till I sold the car I never had such issues again.

So pls find better technician who uses correct computer diagnose

Tojahh give us link nah abeg, see as Ghost1994 dey enter us like this... drive for 6 years can't go Ghana.

I'm very sorry sir cry I didn't enter you or anyone. I'm just trying to let the guy know and understand that life is luck to have anything in this life is by luck and grace of God.

There are many people who have been submitting applications for decades and never given a chance for visa approval. Meanwhile, some people just submit for the first time and it's went through. Ordinary dubai will reject somd peoples applications so what am saying is that everything is just luck and grace.

Someone in this same uber hustle see good job so many good stories like that just that we shouldn't give up in anything we're doing.

If I tell you what made me drive uber you'll be amazed.

I've worked for 4 years abroad before with savings of over 8.5m I came to naija October 2016 thinking of relocating to Canada agent upon agent moneys going.

My dad and I were like brothers he called to borrowed 7.5m to clear his micras and parts whatever brother I received the shock news of my life

On November 22, 2016. As at 6.14am my pop send me message that wahala wa oh. He narrated that it was his friends that pushed him to gamble MMM bro I cried for months. I started talking to my father just 2years ago.

I accepted a white colar job in lekki 60k I was transferred to North sokoto gusau zamfara kaduna kano Taraba then back to Abuja. When I see say body no fit Carry the work with risk in supplying. I had to resigned.

Bros I came to lagos carry hire purchase corolla start new life thinking upon thinking but never lose hope.

Today I appreciate God that I didn't give up. It's nearly made me mad but I thank God and I thank the only woman that supported me.

Pls don't take offense my Oga, some memories just popped up as I saw your post. I'm not in anyway mocking you.. It's just that drivers need to be smart to do well on this ehailing apps.

Sometimes in 2019, I had someone who was a bit close who had a rental for Uber. It was complains each time I asked him about the hustle. It was when I saw this thread I began to see the reasons he was always complaining. Man was not smart with the job at all. It was anywhere belle face.

Cheerful giver has pointed a lot of ways to gross more on indriver but not everyone has his kind of strength. Thing is a lot of people will want to do copy and paste forgetting that not all factors are the same. My own take is for people to take what they think is useful to them from his strategies and drop the ones they can't, think through, experiment and come with their own best personal strategy. Who knows, they may make more money than cheerful giver. Meanwhile, this hustle for me is only a temporary thing. There's a kind of money you can never smell not to talk of have driving on ehailing.

Peace out!

It's bigger than that. It's not about been smart at times It's grace and learning the rope. I had hp as at that time you're talking about but my plans and vision is bigger than driving and today I give thanks.

You can't compare someone living around sango otta to someone living around shomolu. Before sango otta alagbado and Co will get better trip out of that place, shomolu would've taken 3 trips even if he sango otta wake up 3am.

So bro yoruba do say "ayee emape enikan lollee mo kadara lowo" don't ever think someone is lazy just because another person is successful through same means, life is not balance money is luck.

E.g. same uber bazoo1 use travel out 1 of my guy driving danfo travel out another left UK with uber me too I'm out shey you'll ever think that, the same uber wey some people Don dey 6yrs is what we came with hire purchase and left.

It's just God grace nothing too much special I pray God will intervene for all the hustlers out there ko easy in naija anymore.
