Religion / Re: A Friend Died Since 2009 And Still Appears In My Dreams, Is This Normal? by Gift4all(m): 5:42pm On Jan 20, 2019
I had a similar experience with my soldier uncle who died in a motor accident some 27 years back. I kept on seeing him in my dreams for more than 20 years. However, there was no interaction between us in the dreams. He always avoids talking to me.

I prayed and fasted. The dreams stopped after over 20 years.

Your dreams about him will come to an end one day.

Politics / Re: EFCC Declares Abdulrasheed Maina Wanted by Gift4all(m): 10:00pm On Nov 02, 2015
MUST READ !!!!!

You have to hear Abdulrasheed Maina first before hanging him. The man made startling revelations about the pension scam matter last week on a live radio programme, Brekete Family aired on Love FM 104.5 Abuja. Here is brief summary of his revelations:

1. The Pension Reform Task Team had representatives from many govt. agencies including EFCC, DSS, FIRS, NPF etc. He was just the Chairman.

2. The Team discovered billions of pension funds in many govt agencies, including Police pensions which were being mismanaged by some of the pensions managers and top ogas. The team helped govt to recover some of the pension funds that were hidden by some of these govt agencies.

3. When they discovered that the team has started exposing them, they went after Dr. Maina. He was offered protection by govt. His bullet proof car was shot at short range. He said the car is in the villa now. At a point he was advised to go under because he was being constantly threatened and attacked.

4. The team had no account, all their stationery and expenses were sourced from Office of the Accountant General of the Federation / Head of Service of the Federation. That they never handled pensions funds directly, so how could he have stolen the money?

5. Dr. Maina promised to present evidence of all relevant documents to the presenter of Brekete Family show and the presenter promised to publish them on www.exposenigeria.com

That is a summary of what Abdulrasheed Maina said. It may be true, it may not. I am not supporting hi
m, but the question is, why did EFCC declare the man wanted now immediately after these startling revelations?

Is it possible that Abdulrasheed Maina is not guilty of the allegations against him, but is rather being blackmailed by the powerful pension thieves? The man said so.

PMB needs to intervene and do a thorough investigation of this matter.

TV/Movies / NOLLYWOOD IS SECOND WORLD PRODUCER, MIGHTY ECONOMIC MACHINE - CNN by Gift4all(m): 2:12pm On Jul 10, 2015
More than feuds and dramas, Nollywood is a mighty economic machine
By Milena Veselinovic, for CNN

(CNN)They used to be the preserve of informal home gatherings around old flickering TV sets, but Nollywood films have now gone global.
Movie streaming giant Netflix has dedicated an entire section to Nigeria's mega film industry, so rather than having to buy a DVD, viewers around the world can now get their fix of Nigerian drama straight to their computer screens -- Nollywood is notorious for churning out hundreds of movies per month, capturing viewers with stories ranging from romance and drama to comedy and witchcraft.
iROKOtv, a Nigerian online platform for on-demand films, already streams home-grown movies to the diaspora around the world, but with 25% of Nigerians predicted to access the internet via their mobile phone by 2018, the home market is expected to grow too.

Befitting the mammoth industry that Nollywood is, its glamorous movie stars are revered in the country as any Hollywood A-listers would be. Shown above are four of Nigerian film's most recognizable faces.

Ramsey Nouah stumbled into the film industry almost by accident. He was looking for funds to cover his school fees when a friend suggested he tried acting. Some 25 years later, Nouah is today one of Nollywood most prolific stars.

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, heralded as the queen of Nollywood, has appeared in around 300 films since her debut in 1995. Her allure earned her the nickname of "Omosexy," while two years ago she was named one of the top 100 influential people in the world by Time Magazine.
Jeta Amata comes from a family of Nollywood stars, so it was perhaps not surprising that he became one of Nigeria's most prominent film directors. He is often praised for the high production values and strong narratives of his movies, and has worked with both Nollywood and Hollywood famous stars, including Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger.
Genevieve Nnaji, dubbed the "Julia Roberts of Nollywood," has been acting since the age of eight and has won the 2005 African Academy Movie Award for Best Actress.
High output, low profit
Nigeria's film industry pumps out around 50 movies per week and is estimated to generate around $600 million annually for the country's economy. With more than 1,200 films a year, it's the world's second biggest producer behind India. Nollywood is also Nigeria's second biggest provider of work, employing directly or indirectly more than one million people, according to the United States International Trade Commission.
However, films are typically low-budget and revenues are small. One of the highest grossing Nollywood film so far is thought to be "Ije: The journey", which generated $500,000 when it was released in 2010. It stars two of Nollywood's biggest stars, Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde as sisters fighting for justice.
Search of excellence
In recent years, a new wave of filmmakers who want to shake off Nollywood's reputation for shoddy productions is emerging. Dubbed the New Nigeria cinema, these young professionals want to create a movie industry which can compete with Hollywood -- not just in quantity but also quality.
Actor Wale Ojo, one of the biggest supporters of the movement, told CNN: "New Nigeria Cinema basically means an elevation of Nigerian film -- high production values, good strong narratives, stories that capture the essence of who we are as Nigerians, as Africans.
"And it means also that these films can be shown at international film festivals anywhere in the world, from Toronto to Cannes to Venice."

Education / Re: Misspelt Name On WAEC Result - Help by Gift4all(m): 1:54pm On Aug 14, 2012
You did not state whether it was WAEC that misspelt your name or you did. I had a similar experience some years back. It was WAEC that misspelt my name so I wrote a letter of complaint addressed to the Zonal Cordinator attaching photocopies of my photocard & OMR form (those have my correct name). I kept on checking the result online but the result was not corrected. When the certificate came out, it still has the wrong name so I wrote another letter again. Someone told me that such corrections attract a fine of N5,000, but I refused to pay any fine since it wasn't my fault. I was ready to sue. Later on, I got admission and then decided to pay the fine anyhow to get my correct certificate. Fortunately, when I got to WAEC office, lo and behold the correct certificate was ready!

My advice is that if it was WAEC that misspelt your name, then write a letter of complaint, attaching all the necessary documents. By God's grace, WAEC will address your matter favourably as they did to me. However, if the error is your fault, you can still appeal to WAEC to correct it provided it is not suspicious. Don't give up.
Politics / Re: "Toronto Certificates" - Police Arraign 43 Recruits For Forgery by Gift4all(m): 3:09pm On Mar 21, 2012
There are many police officers with fake certificates in the NPF, Army etc. Minimum qualification for Police recruits was SSCE, but is now OND/NCE. Many unemployed youths who joined the Police do so not because they like to, but just for the sake of getting something to hold body. It will surprise you if you hear of the bribes these youths pay to get recruited. Some pay as much as N200,000. Now, the question is, who screened these guys before they were recruited? The same Police officers collected bribe from desperate unemployed youths, screened and cleared them only for another set of Police officers to re-screen the and charged them to court? I don't support forgery/crime, but those Police officers who screened them in the first instance should be charged to court for the same or some of the charges too.

Obiagu1:

To find a baby to adopt in the East is so difficult and equally as expensive.

Is it more expensive than buying one illegally? Could it be more than the N300,000 they sold/bought this baby? If it is difficult in the east, why not move to other parts of the country to adopt one? So all the orphanages in the east don't have enough babies for people to adopt or is it the laws that are stringent? There is no justifiable reason for stealing someone's baby.

Also, no employer will refuse you work just because you studied bsc ed accounting. What you need is to make the best use of your university experience. You might even end up not working as an accountant. So, why worry about the nomenclature of your degree?

On the flip side, ICAN is the only institution that discriminates between Bsc ed accounting and Bsc accounting. I don't know what their reasons are, but methinks is a myopic one. Accounting is accounting, no matter the letters attached to the degree. I am not an accountant so i may not dabble more into that.

In a nutshell, apart from ICAN discrimination, i am yet to see any such thing in the labour ,market. What is important at the labour market is your 2.1 and passing aptitude test and interviews.

Someone told me that United States Embassy in Nigeria discriminates against Bsc ed. graduates.

The plain truth is all the banks in nigeria applied for intrest free banking certificate, but of all the jaiz bank who have been in operation in nigeria for more than 5yrs now where given the chance to do that, reason being that in its records they do not operate on intrest, and within two yrs of operation they have given out charity offer in billions to less previliage nigerian,
the issue is we should learn how to work on words rather than looking at the body that is offering the word,
the igbos, remember okonjo once says the intrest free banking is good and needed in nigeria, for God sake she is an xpact in banking field.
All i rather would asked is we wait and see the mode of operation they have, then we can have all the time to call sls to order if they fail to deliver as xpected.

Why are you ridiculing yourself in the public like this? You are saying tow thing at the same time, "but of all the jaiz bank who have been in operation in nigeria for more than 5yrs now", "and within two yrs of operation, " 5 years and 2 years, which is which? Where is the Head Office of Jaiz, or any of their branch? Jaiz was granted license but I don't know if the had been able to meet up with the capital requirement. Was it not last two weeks or so when they had their AGM that they said it was going to be a regional bank in the north?

Again, you said "they have given out charity offer in billions to less previliage (sic) nigerian (sic)". Is a bank a charity organization? Where and when did they give out charity in billions to which Nigerians? Or was the 'charity' given to unknown terrorists?

This is a Gov who has been accused of nepotism. The people of Plateau use to accuse him of Berom agenda, until later when the Berom people started complaining that not all of them were benefiting from the Gov, but the people of his village, Du. What started as Berom (tribe) agenda was later turned to Du (village) agenda and now it has become a family affair. It is not funny at all.

The Plateau state Polytechnic has been on strike for almost a year. Some were even say the Gov. does not care about education because his all his children dropped out of school, none completed his/her tertiary education. I hope this one is educated now!
Nairaland / General / Re: 419 by Gift4all(m): 12:31pm On Aug 10, 2011
Why it is called 419 is because Section 419 of a certain Nigerian law (I don't know which law) deals on advanced fee fraud, which is now popularly known as 419.

I use to ask a similar question: "who are these 419 people?" and I got the answer the hard way. I was duped, and when I was still trying to play smart and get my money back from these guys, someone who has been observing me and them secretly told me "these guys are the 419 people they talk about, they are dealy so forget about your money and run for your life". I got the answer to my long time question, albeit the hard way!
