How to bond with your new born baby

Parent-child bond is a phenomenon that has been in existence for ages. It’s irreplaceable.
It starts when you see the first sonogram picture of your child at times. Other times, it happens when you hold your baby for the very first time.

There are however, a few instances where it takes a while to have this special bond with your infant, and this is not much of a problem. In fact, statistics have it that at least 20% of new parents don’t form this bond immediately.
Nevertheless, this bond can be created in different ways.We’ll get to know these ways as we continue with this article. Let’s examine some of these ways.

1. The power of touch

Skin contact is the best way to develop a bond with your baby. You are advised to take your baby in your arms whenever you can or hold your baby’s hands when you play with him/her. Keeping them close to your chest by hugging regularly. The warmth from such skin-skin contact helps create a bond.

2. Get to know your baby

How can you get to know your baby? The only way to do this is to give your baby as much attention as you can. Make sure you always always keep an eye on them pay close attention to their facial expressions. Spend as much time as you can with him/her. This way, you will know your child’s every move and pick up cues to when he/she is hungry, sleepy or uncomfortable.



3. Words

There is something all parents must do to bond with their baby and that is Talk! Sound has an extremely strong effect. Babies can even develop a bond with their parents before they are given birth to just by hearing the voices of their parents. So, talk to your baby, even if what you’re saying does not make sense. Read them a book even if they won’t understand the language, your voice is enough to comfort them.

4. Sing to your baby

Sing some nursery rhymes or even your favourite song if you wish. Babies love it when you sing for them… even if you are the worst of singers.
So entertain your babies with your voice no matter how bad it is.



5. Build a special routine

Create a special, unique way of comforting them. It could be patting him/her rhythmically on the back or rocking their cradle in a certain way. They will recognize this routine and know it’s you. Make up words for eating or sleeping, as your baby will start recognizing these words and understand what you’re saying.

6. Body massage

Babies love massages and this is a great way to develop a bond with them. Studies has shown that massaging your baby goes a long way in bonding with them and reduces premature stress.



7. Keep them close

Close proximity of a parent makes the baby feel secure. Ensure you stay close to them and keep their cradle next to your bed. If he/she is playing on a mat, make sure you’re there next to her.


Should these tips not help and you still don’t have that emotional attachment with your baby, contact your gynecologist and tell him/her how you feel. They will be able to check if it’s a psychological problem or a medical issue and will direct you to the help you need.

Well, some years back my big sis met this guy and they fell in love,they dated for over 7 solid years,but his parents were against their Union. The mother,father and his elder sister in particular hated her with passion. Despite the fact that she loves, respects and showers them with gifts.

His father's reason (according to his son) was that, he can't marry an Imo lady an educated one at that.  His mother's reason was that she wanted a very light skinned lady for her son. While his sister's reason was that she was too pretty to make a good wife for her brother (stating that pretty ladies cheat)..

We tried all we could to separate them including involving the police, but all to no avail, he vowed that he'd rather die than break up with her and so did my sister.  Meanwhile, while they were still dating, sometimes his parents come to my sister's abode and beat her up warning her to stay away from their son. And she kept it all away from us(Her family).

Along the line she took in and had a son for him. Yet his parents vowed and said over their dead bodies would they ever consent to their union.  Five years later,his family finally came to us pleading and saying that they have agreed that their son should finally tie the nut with my sister. But I refused,likewise my mom and my siblings.

The traditional marriage was held on the 20th Feb 2012 in my hometown.  She followed her in-laws home that same day(As tradition demands). About a week with them in their home in Oba Anambra state,they brought her home very sick.

A week later she passed on in Usman Danfodio Teaching Hospital Sokoto state(UDUTH). After the doctors discovered she had food poisoning which was meant to kill her slowly. She died right in my arms in the hospital,after vomiting so much blood.

About three years later,his parents got him another woman from their home town who unfortunately has now become a torn in their flesh. And also maltreats my little nephew so much that it always makes me cry.  Not only that, She also engages her so called in-laws in physical combat,and recently her father in-law passed on mysteriously.

So my dear,there's more to marriage than just you and your spouse. The both families have to appreciate,love and give their consent otherwise you might not find peace in that home, that's if you don't end up loosing your precious life along the line. Like my sis.

Nobody is worth dying for all in the name of love. Cus the moment you're gone they'll move on with their lives. Be wise my sister.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, on Monday, challenged the jurisdiction of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, sitting in Abuja, to try him over his alleged failure to declare his assets.

The CJN, who stalled his planned arraignment following his refusal to appear before the Justice Danladi Umar’s led three-member panel tribunal, was however represented by a consortium of 89 lawyers that comprised of 46 Senior Advocates of Nigeria.

The legal team, which was led by a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, and a former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, told the tribunal that their appearance at the proceeding was “in protest.”

Olanipekun told the tribunal that the CJN has already filed a motion dated January 14, to challenge the jurisdiction of the tribunal to hear the charges FG levelled against him.

“My lord, we are not just challenging jurisdiction, we are even challenging the jurisdiction of this tribunal to even sniff that charge. We have served the Complainant/Respondent”, Olanipekun submitted.

Though the said motion was not moved, nevertheless, a member of the team who spoke to Vanguard on condition of anonymity, said the CJN would capitalise on FG’s failure to channel the petition against him, as well as the outcome of the investigation that was purportedly conducted on his assets declaration forms by the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, to the National Judicial Council, NJC, before it rushed the case to the CCT.

The CJN is contending that FG’s failure to abide by existing judicial precedent as encapsulated in a recent Appeal Court’s decision in Nganjiwa v Federal Republic of Nigeria (2017) LPELR-43391(CA), to the effect that any misconduct attached to the office and functions of a judicial officer, must first be reported to and handled by the NJC, pursuant to the provisions of the laws.

He argued that only after the NJC has pronounced against such judicial officer could prosecuting agencies of the Federal Government proceed to initiate a criminal proceeding.

Consequently, placing reliance on a recent decision of the CCT on a similar charge FG lodged against another Justice of the Supreme Court, Sylvester Ngwuta, the CJN’s legal team, maintained that FG’s decision to sideline the NJC, stripped the tribunal of its jurisdiction to entertain the instant case.

My wife had a premature delivery, not long ago, at a maternity clinic near our house at Agege and we have been told that the child needs to be on a ventilator to survive. I have been told that this can only be found in a hospital that has a neonatal unit.

This is an Emergency. Where can we find this type of hospitals in Lagos say around the mainland { Ikeja axis } etc
