Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace development, says members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta are now loyal to Sheriff Oborevwori, governor of the state.
“We are here today as one unit, the gatekeepers of the party,” he said.
“These are the gatekeepers of the party in Delta state. The three senators… the three are seated here. The only member of the house of representatives, the only single one, is here.
“These are the gatekeepers, like I said, of the APC in Delta. Outside this group, there is no APC in Delta.
“If decisions are to be taken, these are the people that sit down with the state chairman to take a decision regarding the APC. If anybody tells you otherwise, the person must be a comedian.”
seunowa: Even Bala Mohammed is under the efcc radar and I don't he will defect. Fayose has been under efcc investigation and he is still in pdp. Do you know how many governors and senators in APC who have cases with U.S government for fraud? Does his defection to APC stop U.S government from investigating his fraud case? What You fail to understand is that greed for power especially between Atiku and Wike is what is killing the foremost oppositional party in Nigeria. No one is prepared to make sacrifices for the progress of the party.
Chief Bode George condemned PDP governors decamping to APC, calling their actions “disappointing” and disheartening.
In the same vein, he said PDP Governors' alleged defection is disappointing.
"I'm saddened that some governors, barely two years into their administration, are considering decamping to an unstructured APC despite riding into power on the PDP's goodwill. History will likely judge harshly any governor who attempts such a move."

Giftimoni: According to The Africa Report, the meeting took place in London last week, shortly after Tinubu left Paris.
The meeting, it was learnt, was at the insistence of Governor Fubara, who has been desperate to return to office since the president declared a state of emergency in oil-rich Rivers State.
During the meeting, Fubara promised to make some compromises.
Negotiations are ongoing, but from all indications, his suspension will be lifted before the six-month deadline,” said an adviser to the president who wished to remain anonymous because he was not authorised to speak to the press.
Another presidential aide said Fubara is also open to joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to ingratiate himself with the president and then obtain cover.
“If Fubara joins the APC, it means the president’s chances of winning Rivers State are much higher,” he says.
The Africa Report was informed that Fubara’s estranged godfather, Nyesom Wike, was not part of the meeting and was uncomfortable with such meetings taking place behind his back.
However, Tinubu is expected to broker a meeting between Fubara, Wike, and the Rivers State lawmakers to find a lasting solution to the crisis in the state.

This development comes days after Human rights activist Epelle condemned the federal government’s actions in Rivers, claiming misuse of emergency rule to make appointments.
Jake Epelle, a prominent human rights activist and Executive Director of TAF Africa, has strongly condemned the recent appointment of administrators in the 23 local government areas of Rivers State, calling the move unconstitutional and an affront to the nation’s democratic principles. The appointments were made by Administrator Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (rtd), raising eyebrows across the state. Epelle, in an interview with ARISE News on Thursday, accused the state government of undermining the Nigerian Constitution.

Human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effionge, on Monday, said over N10 million has so far been raised to support the 17-year-old minor, Quadri Alabi, who went viral during campaigns for the 2023 general elections when he stood in front of the convoy of a former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
“I can confirm to you that as of this morning, we’ve raised over N10 million in barely four days for Quadri. It re-energises our hope in the Nigerian spirit. Within the first two hours, we had raised over N3 million.
“In 2023, the donation that was given to him wasn’t even close to this, and you saw what they (the area boys) did to him,” he said.

A former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, has dismissed the widely discussed coalition of opposition political parties aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027, describing it as a waste of time.
A former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, has given his own opinion on the emergency rule in Rivers state.
Fayose also dismissed the widely discussed coalition of opposition political parties aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027, describing it as a waste of time.
But the former Ekiti State governor believes that the coalition will fail because the governors of the PDP are not with Atiku, as they are fighting for their own political survival.
“If anybody is fighting out of issues with his party, he can resolve that with his party. The (PDP) governors’ actions and statement in Ibadan is to tell Atiku that we are not with you, we are going nowhere, we have our own identity.
“So, that coalition is just in the imagination of people trying to bring it to fruition. So, let me say to you, it’s a waste of time,” he said.
He said that in fact, most of the opposition governors prefer Tinubu for their survival to Atiku.
According to Fayose, something is fundamentally wrong with the PDP that needs to be fixed before the party could talk about strongly challenging the ruling party.

kaludestiny10: My dear, the bone of contention here is not even the 300 million naira donated the NBA body by governor Fubara, but the fact that NBA are against the imposition of a sole administrator on Rivers State of which Iba is trying to legitimize. The NBA moving their conference to another state is a slap in his reputation in Rivers state.
