erekoshe: Let's counter your point, but first I don't give a f abt PDP, PDP and APC are the same damn thing..
1. Wrt debt, how much is Nigeria borrowing daily? As specified by our budget?? Check that up-dont embarrass yourself. The previous govt borrow based on need which embarrassingly include salaries. The current government borrows daily, regardless of the so-called loot they've recovered.. Or so they say
2. BH was completely eliminated that 6weeks to election, they were forced into hiding.. So its not nice to lie to yourself
3.stealing is actually not corruption, if you're educated enough you'll understand that. Both are vices but not same. For Dasuki and co, they're still innocent until a court of competent jurisdiction find them guilty. Only a judge or jury can actually say they did steal- the law could be pretty annoying sometimes, not you. BTW, those guys are still leaving in wealth and affluence, don't be deceived, Nigeria is heavily messed up. If you're related to Dasuki or Metu, you'll get job faster than a bullet in this messed up country.
4. Your figures are incorrect, you could have researched exactly figures before using it as a point. Well, how much is our reserve now? Are you aware its at the lowest ever? Go figure out the exact figures. So what did we achieve with the depletion?
Its pointless to defend the government... PDP, APC are the same damn people, the government don't give a f abt u, previous, present and all governments! The current fuel scarcity -how long has it been? How is light in your area? We all pray and hope the government succeed, but let's not lie to ourselves, they are doing pretty messed up job now. BTW, heard The president saying we should go fight vandals ourselves of we want light? (The spokesman speak on his behalf, remembe?) I usually don't respond to people who say things like "if you are educated enough". I wonder why you can not make a point without being condescending. I will make an exception in this case though. 1. This is a spurious statement as Nigeria is not borrowing money to pay salaries now. If you have facts, you can put it up. Don't forget that even IMF attested to the determination and ability of this govt to roll back the rot. 2. BH was completely eliminated?? You really mean that? All the attacks perpetrated after the election must have been from aliens then. 3. Stealing of public funds by public official officials is definitely corruption. Check the meaning of corruption online. Its something that I have done, so don't think its an insult. I will never downgrade to that level even if I'm trying to make an obvious point like this. 4. Why not give us the accurate figures. In fact it was less than what I stated. It was actually, about 34.5 billion dollars as at May 29th. |
Politics › Re: Today March 28, It's Exactly A Year We Voted For Buhari, Do You Regret? by Gliding(m): 4:44pm On Mar 28, 2016 |
People have forgotten that - NOI said she had developed hypertension trying to borrow money to pay salaries. By now, I bet Nigeria would have borrowed again from IMF. They would have been in charge of our economy by now. Just ask Greece.
- BH were on rampage with all of Borno state except Maiduguri under their control. Maiduguri is the size of Lagos, Oyo and half of Ogun state.
- stealing was not corruption, now it is. Or do you still think that Dasuki and co did not steal?
- our reserves went down from about 60 billion during OBJ to less than 35 billion, at a time oil was selling for the highest amount in ten years.
I could go on and on
# pls counter this with facts and not name calling |

obailala: Who dey deplete our reserves?... it is you and I who prefer to buy 'made in UK' handkerchief with $5 instead of the one made in Aba for N50.
The nation is presently suffering from what is termed a 'negative balance of trade'. Before now, let's assume the total amount of forex leaving Nigeria per month was $10billion (this amount includes money spent importing fuel, food, clothes, foreign school and medical fees, you $5 handkerchief etc), this forex outflow of $10bn is balanced by a forex inflow of $10bn or more mainly from oil sales. Today the proceeds from oil sales has fallen by 70%, but our taste for foreign goods has obviously not changed. So today we are getting inflow of only $3bn but still spending $10bn. This is the negative balance of trade which is reducing the reserves.
To manage this crisis and prevent reserves from reaching zero, cbn has totally stopped releasing forex to banks and BDCs which help people like yourself who want to buy a mere handkerchief; except you can prove that you want to purchase an essential commodity like import fuel or rice etc, the cbn will not release its scarce forex to you. So the forex which your bank sold to you for N350 was not gotten from cbn, it was from the blackmarket. The blackmarket guys get their forex from diverse sources (including raw cash from people who return from diaspora). The scarcity of forex in the open market is the reason why it sells for up to N350 or N400.
Cc: olamonsor2 I hope people will read this. It is easy enough to understand. Personally, I believe that banning specific items from the CBN forex fund list is the way to go. Ultimately, it encourages local manufacturing. With time , people would rather buy the locally made "handkerchiefs" and co, thereby sustaining someone's employment than buy foreign goods. |

On a second thought, i blame we nigerians cos greed is in our DNA, that is why nothing works here. I like what you have written so far. But greed and stubbornness is in every human. It is the system that stops them from over exhibiting those tendencies. That is why when there is a lights out even in US , people will break into and loot shops. But once there is light, CCTV working, police around, they simply behave themselves. Where the reward and justice system is upsidedown, this is what happens. And the system is made to work first by the leaders. Leadership is about making people believe in a cause enough to abide by it. You don't cast blame as leaders. |

martyns303: My Brother don't say what u don't know.
Let me start by saying that I have no confidence in any Nigerian political office holder, and that is why I don't own a voters card and I have never voted.
That been said, I had a very rare opportunity of talking one on one with a major player in this country and it was an eye opener, Nigerians were told that oil marketers are holding the country to a ransom and nobody believed, weeks later we are on a long queue trying to buy fuel, Buhari has said he doesn't know what fuel subsidy is, he his about to find out.
The Jonathan administration has been labeled very corrupt and wastage in excess, has anyone ever wondered where is the money going? A huge junk is spent on oil subsidy to prevent long queues has we have it now, when he tried to remove subsidy because of the amount of money put into it, Nigerians cried foul. A lot of things are falling apart and the government had to keep pumping in money to hold things together.
Now that the man is leaving and is taking his hands off things, Nigerians can now see how everything has come crumbling, yes he his still the president till 29th, but by that time how much more Billion dollars would have been used to maintain marketers? Then he would have been accused of last minute looting.
Nigeria is a very complex society, I am patiently waiting for what the next administration has to offer. It is a herculean task defending GEJ at this point in time. The oil marketers are holding Nigeria to ransom because we allowed it. Why can't NNPC itself import fuel to cushion this effect?? Or do they not have the capacity? You should note, that nobody would have been against subsidy removal if the refineries were working. The first thing he should have done was to put the palliatives in place (e.g working refineries), instead he wanted to remove it without any palliative measures. Even the SUREa-P he instituted has not had the kind of effect it should have had. . Fuel goes for about .70 cents in the united states today and that is because they have working refineries. Which is a country that relies a lot on shale oil, which is even more expensive to exploit than crude oil I can tell you categorically that if the refineries are working fully, we will buy fuel at cheaper than a hundred naira per litre. |
