Go there, do a semester while applying for courses that offer 29mths, then commence the new course in January. Also try to have faith, most MPH students get funded for PhD. That I think is another option for you compared to other peeps like me who are glued to a terminal master course or PhD without funding

If 'she' decides to get admission to switch schools, she would not be released by her current school until she pays off all debts owed. Her current school would not release her SEVIS records for the new school to pick until she offsets her debts. The possibility of her switching schools while owing over $17k in debt in the previous school is almost zero.

Her best bet can be to take one full year off from school work, to come up with the money, pay off the debt AND SEEK A CHEAPER SCHOOL TO SWITCH TO.

I know a student (an undergraduate) who was in a similar situation but the amount he owed was about $7k. He found a cheaper school (community college) and wanted to transfer but his university would not release him to his new school until he paid off his debt. His new school wouldn't accept him either because he still owed the first school tuition. There's no way the new school could access his SEVIS record without it first released by the first school. If he didn't pay up, he stood the risk of falling out of status which scared him to death. Lucky for him, it was the spring semester ending and he had summer coming (time to work). It took several weeks of pleading and shedding of tears to convince the admission officer to release him, who accompanied him to his new school himself to request that the new school let him enrol on the condition that by the ending of summer (of last year) that he would offset his tuition debt at his first school and his SEVIS records would be released to the community college. This poor boy worked his butt off the entire summer last year, and with about $2k from home he came up with the $7k and cleared his tuition debt. He's at the community college now where tuition is way cheaper and he can afford to come up with the tuition at least every summer break, if he doesn't get any support from home.

I've always advised those coming into the US with barely 1 full semester of tuition to avoid enrolling in school at all to avoid incurring the heavy debt of tuition and fees. It is a terrible situation to be in to owe school fees and be unable to pay it off. If you don't have money for tuition, leave school for now, focus on getting your residency after which you can always go back to school on loan available to you as a US permanent resident, but unavailable to international students. Going to a top school here in US does not really matter. What matters is having a US degree in the first place. Getting a good job here in US depends on how well networked one is (connection) and one's personality as a person.

I can't say this enough. Anybody planning on coming to the US to study without tuition money and expecting miracle to happen is in for a serious issue. I strongly recommend that you go for a cheap school and have at least 1 or 2 semester (s) tuition money.

Top of the day to all in the house, I applied for Phd in Health Informatics to 4 schools. As we are all aware, this period is admission decision time for most schools. Unfortunately I have so far, received rejection from 2 schools (Minnesota and Utah).

Luckily, however, I was given admission by Univ of Iowa. Initially the admission came without funding , but when they sensed my reluctance of accepting such, they decided to give a year fellowship for my first year so as to be able to concentrate on course works and my performance will determine my eligibility for TAs and GAs for subsequent years. Although this is not my best choice and since I am not having a stable job at the moment, I will be accepting the offer.

Nevertheless, I would appreciate contribution or information regards the school, life generally in Iowa, hustling in USA, realistic job prospects, approach to visa application and any other appropriate comments. Still awaiting decision from Uni of Texas, this would have been my preferred choice provided it comes with funding, which I doubt.

For those that are experiencing rejections, it’s part and parcel of the process, don’t give up!!

They r still better than d ones in Ibadan. I boarded one while coming back from church. Alas, just bfore I got to my bus-stop, d keg n hose dat d driver used to pass fuel caught fire right beside me. I don't know when I jumped from d wreakage while it was in motion, I almost fell face flat on d road, so many ladies fell flat on d road while trying to escape before d driver could stop d wretched bus. We eventually put out d fire with sand. I than my God till date for sparing me in dat incident.

These people are a reproach to d people of colour, where is d police? Or are they abetting d heinous crime?

True talk man, der was dis lady my friend once dated, she was his first love. He gave her all d attention, call her as if he owns a call centre, buys her gift, sends money into her account, n begs her to come visit him in his apartment. Eventually d lady agreed to date her n dey were both doing fine. Suddenly after some time, d lady started misbehaving n was always telling d guy about other guys dat made love advances @ her, even while d lady was with my guy in his apartment, she would be receiving calls n chatting with her other toasters. I warned my friend abt d lady dat she was only a player but my friend declined all pleas n advice. All thru dis period der was nothing between dem, even when d lady sleeps in my friend's house. Suddenly, d lady started misbehaving n was always talking n chatting with her ex even in my friend's presence. The guy eventually got heart-broken n eventually sent her off. It took my guy few months to get over d lady n he almost failed one of his papers at d time. It took days of consolation by me n other colleagues to help him assuage d effect of d heartbreak on my guy. I was just laughing at him now n telling him dat ladies r not supposed to be taken too seriously. This was a guy who never dated any lady thruout undergraduate days in d uni.

My union of 11years broke off starting from the day I saw single on my ex cv despite the fact that we were legally married.

The questions that came to my mind was that could it be desperation for money,? Lack of self respect,? Or pure foolishness for a married lady to deny her matrimony because she is looking for a job.

I rhink some ladies are just too cheap and desperate and it boils down to the love of money because a lady with a wealthy and self awareness mentaliity will never deny her matrimony bcause she is looking for a six figure salary job let alone kobo kobo job.

Trust me,ladies are the architect of their own predicaments most times.
