This beats me.
PoliticsRe: What Has Pdp Abuja Government Done For The Yorubas? by GNature(m): 7:57am On Jun 02, 2007
Obasanjo didn't really do much for the yorubas all in the name of keeping the country together. He didn't want to be seen as partial in spreading development. I agree with whomever said the notion of obasanjo giving yorubas special preference is laughable.

Go and tour the whole of the south west, where is the evidence of this preference ? Even the road leading to his Ota farm is in a deplorable state.

To me, Abuja was the number 1 beneficiary of Obasanjo's government. I even hear that NEPA/PHCN has a special amount of Megawatts devoted to abuja, they don't experience constant black outs as the rest of the country.

anyway, don't be too sure that you won't fall in love, maybe not in the near future, but you will eventually fall in love.
Where did I say I won't ever fall in love  huh

I think it is pointless staying here and chatting with you because you can't even stick to the subject matter. I said I can never fall in love let alone propose to the kind of woman you were talking about, you are here saying someone shouldn't be sure they wouldn't fall in love.

adios.

What you have here is someone stating his opinion. The site I referenced was from a study conducted by the Open University of UK. 10,000 people took part in this study, so there is a high degree of legitimacy to it.

fekuti:
by the way GNature, if the woman you love refuses your marriage proposal because you're shorter than she is, just sit in a corner and say "oh it's okay
women prefer taller men
"
I wouldn't fall in love let alone propose to the kind of woman you are referencing here. I am smart enough to figure out if a chick is into me or not, so the issue of marriage proposal doesn't even come into play here.

Only guys with low self esteem date and propose to women that are not into them. I don't belong in that category.

We are just recycling same 'Ol politicians as mamajama said. We all know how well the technocrats that OBJ appointed performed compared to the mere politicians. I hope we do not regress with these types of appointments
CareerRe: Why Are The Indians Taking All Our Jobs Away From Us In Our Own Country? by GNature(m): 5:57am On Jun 02, 2007
Because they are ahead of the curve than we are in Nigeria. They have been practicing a market oriented economy for a long time and India has invested a lot in human capital (do a google search for Indian Institute of Technology and you'll see what I am talking about) and it is now bearing fruit.

We have a large pool of graduates available for work in Nigeria, but a lot of them do not posses the skills (and experience) needed on some jobs. As such, we have to rely on these expats. It is very unfortunate, but that's just the honest truth.

With time, we will catch on.

The last thing I read on the news was that the militants demanded all their kinsmen that are in jail should be released for the kidnappings to abate.

This is in addition to the issue of more control of the oil.

Is Yar 'Adua going to grant their wishes ?

I think the labor unions are waiting to see what the new govt is going to do about it. As someone on this thread stated, the price increase could be a political gimmick; prices could revert to the old prices in due course.
PoliticsRe: Obasanjo Regrets His Inability To Fix Electricity Problem In Eight Years by GNature(m): 5:40am On Jun 02, 2007
What Obasanjo was saying was he wished he paid more attention to the generation aspect of the electricity issue. It's not as if he didn't do anything at all; he met 1900 MW in 1999 and brought it up to 4000 MW at one point, but that is just insufficient for a country the size of Nigeria.

We just hope the government will attain the 10,000 MW goal (for now) that it has set for itself.

The overwhelming majority of women want their men to be taller than they are, that's just a fact.

Why would anyone want to see Obasanjo as a hero ? There were lots of flaws and some accomplishments that he achieved while in office, but the word hero definately does not come to mind when talking about OBJ as a president
RomanceRe: Can You Marry A Man Shorter Than You? by GNature(m): 4:58am On Jun 02, 2007
It is a well known fact that Women prefer their men taller.

Please see the study done by a university below.

SOURCE: http://www.shortsupport.org/News/0329.html

Tall men and short women go hand in hand

Tall men and short women are the most successful at attracting partners and having children, UK researchers say.

Scientists at the Open University based their finding on an analysis of data from 10,000 men and women born in Britain in one week in March 1958.

They found that the taller the men were, the less likely they were to be unmarried or childless 42 years later in 2000.

For women, however, the opposite was true. It was shorter than average women who appeared to be best at finding partners.

The results are thought to explain why men are generally taller than women.

Dr Daniel Nettle, who led the research reported in the Royal Society journal Proceedings B, said: "It seems that tall men and petite women are favoured in evolutionary terms, even in a modern population, so the height difference between men and women is unlikely to disappear."

The study showed that an averagely tall 1.77 metre (5ft 8ins) man was less likely to have children than a man with a height of 1.83 metres (6ft 1ins).

In contrast, women who were most likely to be married and have children by the same age were between 1.51 metres (4ft 9ins) and 1.58 metres (5ft 1ins) tall. This is well below the national average woman's height of 1.62 metres (5ft 3ins).

The findings support earlier research which suggested that women find taller men more attractive, said Dr Nettle.

But for men height was less important than indications of a woman's fertility.

Short women generally reached puberty earlier than tall women, whose fertility was often delayed because of the extra energy they spent growing.

In addition because women prefer men taller than themselves, tall women were left with a smaller pool of potential partners. This contributed to the evolutionary selection of short women.

Dr Nettle said: "We have come to think that men pay attention to physical characteristics of their mates, whilst women pay more attention to status and resources.

"In the case of height, this is clearly not true. In choosing a husband, size matters."

6.BAT, WHO ELSE BUT THE BIGGEST THIEF
Tinubu was not perfect, agreed, but I won't say he was the worst performing governor. The last time I was in Lagos in 2004 and I was complaining of how things have deteriorated, everyone kept saying it used to be worse !

There is just no way any governor can better Lagos without help from the federal government. If anyone wants to apportion blame on Tinubu, then Obasanjo must share some of the blame.

A close friend of mine visited Port Harcourt recently and couldn't figure out what Governor Odili was doing with almost $200 million a month accruing to the state.

The samething goes for Igbinedion, everyone has said the roads in Benin are so deplorable.

@9ja4eva

Guess what, I was right ! the news media is reporting that Yar 'Adua is going to make James Ibori a minister because he played a big role in his becoming President.

I don't think the EFCC is going to go after Ibori if Yar 'Adua makes him a minister.

What Yar 'Adua should have done is have the EFCC screen all potential candidates to serve in his cabinet before he appoints them, but he is just going to return political favours.

Are these signs of us progressing in the war against corruption ?

On a serious note,

WesleyanA, I am really glad to see you going to college. I wish you the best and I know you'll do well.

The only advice I have for you is to never mix gbegiri soup and palm wine (emu ope) while in school.

Studies have shown that mixing gbegiri and emu ope can lead to dire consequences, especially if you

plan on keeping your grades up (atleast 1.9 gpa).

Best of luck. wink
