slimmy05: Please, be careful with the credit card thingy. From my own point of view. You don't need a credit card for now. Its not really that easy to keep up with and there are rules behind having one and making payment. I strongly advice not to indulge in one. This is not like the normal Terms, rules and conditions you just sign without reading. Read it carefully.
You have enough time to build your credit score when you start working and earning constant pay. The stress of school and other stuffs is enough for you to bother about. I am not discouraging you. This is just an advice. I will advice you stay off credit cards till you're done with school.
When you're done with school and secure a job. Then you can obtain one and put your bills on it (rent, light, internet, insurance), with this you'll get a good credit score cos that alone should amount to nothing less than $700 monthly. Gbam! |

amanze15: depends on where you shop, if person pack clothes full travelling luggage where egusi and dry bitter leaf go come enter....try OLD NAVY cheap and fair enough, Americans designers forget the tall and big I think You won't believe that I came here with just a check-in bag and my carry-on. So sad I wasted my carriage allowance! Many things I would have brought! But I am 6"2. I go check that also. Thanks, baba mi. |

AgreatMan: well, this talk doesn't apply to everyone. First, I don't like jean trousers. This is because I don't get enough air in jean trousers. Secondly, I can't get my size in naija: shoes, trousers, suits. I don't think am too tall 6ft5inch, or too big 85kg though my shoulders are quite broad. I usually shop from those US stores and I don't buy the expensive stuffs. Occasionally, I also get stuffs from my bro. My shoe size is 13/46, how many shoes of those size will you find when every businessman imports from china? And the chinese are inclined to making stuffs for people of their heights. So, to the folks in US, I don't believe you have to pay so much to be stylish. I agree though that you should pack as much stuffs as possible from home. #ThatsAll |

biikeys: If you can't afford those for now, you can probably get some faded glory jeans at Walmart-around $10. Not the best quality, but will get you going Thanks, bro. That one sef dey. But what is the point in using "faded glory jeans" in America when I used good ones at home? I don tell dem make dem helep me send jeans from home, I will pay whatever amount they cost. That is if dem go even collect my money sef. |

slimmy05: even the train is crazy. They have good places in Chicago and it's pretty expensive to live there as well. Madison is better compared to Chicago where they hawk cold drinks and jewelries in traffic. Dangerous too with recent killings. If you want cheap deals and know your size. Keep track of 6pm.com Thank you! |

slimmy05:
Welcome to America. Thing a are cheap, things are cheap. I bought a winter jacket for $80 dollars and I got one free from a friend here which he paid $120 to get. I thought things were cheap here till I entered Khols. All I did was get a Khols card and constantly monitor when they are on sale or got discounts. The cheapest of them jeans is still like $40. I usually wear 33 back in Nigeria, but when I added cheese and beef to my diet I'm btween 34 to 35. Went to the store to get pants for my Defence and I couldn't get anything less than $50 box. I had to wait till I got to Chicago so I can get free stuffs. Clothing ain't cheap here. Slimmy05, I dey tell you. No be beans. You won't believe I called my sisterto buy jeans for me and send down. I won't mind paying her in excess for helping me do that! Yes. I will not make such mistake again. Anytime I go home, I will buy all I need. I can buy a bottle of perfume with $100, but not just sokoto. Ko jo. Tah! And I was also in Chicago a week ago. Except the beaches and tall buildings, what is there in Chicago? I hated it! Not like Madison. The inner parts of Chicago are not really different from Ajegunle, Lagos. And Ajegunle folks even have the right to feel disrespected by comparing their slums with Chicago's! Like seriously. I also saw too many Nigerians and blacks there! A girl in her thick Ibadan accent was even receiving call on the street, shouting! But African foods are cheap in Chicago sha. I used the opportunity to visit a farm and an African store like that to get all I needed. But biko, I don't like Chicago. I love Madison! Small, calm, and boring/lively academic city. |

To the Guys Planning their Trip to America Please, e dakun, biko, dan Allah, etc. try as much as possible to get enough jeans before leaving Nigeria. Getting jeans trousers in America is perhaps the most expensive part of men's shopping. I am telling you, jeans, I mean jeans - thick, straight, and fitting ones - are expensive! No matter how you are looking at it, getting a good pair no be beans. For instance, a friend's brother got a pair of True Religion for me few years ago and I thought it was just one of those 'jeans'. Shockingly, I have not seen that type of jeans at a price lesser than $120. And I must say, I have checked quite a few outlets. From my discoveries, a pair of 'manageable' jeans starts from like $35 - as u rich reach. Just try as much as you can to get enough pairs in Nigeria. JEANS ARE NOT CHEAP in America. Clothes are quite cheap if you know how to go about it, but sokoto is hell no! Similar to this, please try get a pair of moccasin from Nigeria too. Folks here use it a lot but it is also expensive. A very good one - with correct ponmo - won't cost more than 5k in Nigeria. And I must say, you can use one for a long time. I am regretting leaving mine at home. Thank you. ** Walspring, how far, sir? Got my mail? |

Yjc07: I was asked to come drop off my passport after administrative processing was said to have been concluded,my question is do I need to take any documents along with me to d embassy even if they did not request for any documents? Please, respond as I will be at d embassy tomorrow. No. If you are expected to come with any document, they would have told you. However, the documents we are talking about here are not in anyway a heavy load that you should worry yourself contemplating carrying them or not. Why not just take your documents with you to be 'safe'? #JustASuggestion |
