Can we follow peace with all men and make this Nigeria a better place first ?

We all talk about heaven but fail to keep earth sane. Nigerians must do less of religion and fix our society
people who care in earth are those who believe life doesn't end when they leave their bodies.

Less religion is what makes people not to have conscience and say you only live once, better do whatever to enjoy your only life, so they cheat others, kill others, do all manner of evils just to enjoy their short lives believing there is no judgement they will face.

Please we don't all talk nor even focus on heaven because if we did, we would do the good that qualifies us for heaven.

Religion / Re: The Difference Between "Dead Works" And "Works Of Faith" - Olamide Obire by gohf: 12:29pm On May 10
The errors are much that I had to split it into two

Pastors and leaders, Pharoah could not resist the blood of the lamb ( a shadow and type of our Lord Jesus Christ) which ensured that Israel was delivered from bondage in Egypt. By the same token, only the blood of Jesus can deliver from today's "Egypt" of the bondage of sinful living, the power of darkness, addiction and molestation of the enemy. Not our efforts to stop sinning or more law-keeping and condemnation, which kill. Our salvation has got nothing to do with our efforts. It's all to do with Jesus!
the very people you speak of, died in the wilderness due disobedience due to their lack of faith in God, they did not enter the promise land, even though they were brought out of Egypt.

Jesus said "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

But what is the kingdom of God? Romans 14:17 tells us that it is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit! As believers in Christ, the Holy Spirit dwells in us. We are God's righteousness in Christ (His righteousness, not ours, which are like filthy rags). We have the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. In Christ, we are partakers of the kingdom of God! Colossians 1:13 "He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins."
some truth yet mixed with falsehood, to seek the kingdom of God is to seek the righteousness, true, but to seek the righteousness of Jesus is about doing the works that he did, infact greater works that he commanded us to do. The righteousness of Jesus are the things he did in obedience to the Father.

All other things - including the grace to live according to His will - are added unto us! Nothing to do with us. All to do with Jesus.

Believer, by Grace, stop trusting in dead works (works of the law) to get you salvation from hell and earthly ills. This action will only cause sin to strengthen its grip over your life:

"For sin shall not have dominion over you for you are not under law but under Grace." Romans 6:14.

Satan knows this so his ministers in many churches have been actively preaching keeping the Ten Commandments to get right with God as the way of salvation for a long, long time. No friend. This way seems right to common sense, but it is the way to death that Proverbs 14:12 speaks of:

"There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death."

The letter (the Law) kills. The Spirit gives life and with the Spirit of the Lord, it is neither by might nor by power. Believer, this is the crux of the message of Christ: RIGHTEOUSNESS BY FAITH. Romans 3 gives a summary of the message of Christ. It says of God:

"26...for He himself is fair and just, and He makes sinners right in His sight when they believe in Jesus. 27 Can we boast, then, that we have done anything to be accepted by God? No, because our acquittal is not based on obeying the law. It is based on faith. 28 So we are made right with God through faith and not by obeying the law."

"The law is not of faith" is a popular bible verse. Trying to obey the law in order to get right with God is the definition of faithlessness. But this is illogical to many:

"For the message of the cross is foolishness [absurd and illogical] to those who are perishing and spiritually dead [because they reject it], but to us who are being saved [by God’s grace] it is [the manifestation of] the power of God." 1 Corinthians 1:18.

Believer, trust in Christ to save you from your sins and cause you to live right. This is what He came to do:

"He gave His life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us His very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds." Titus 2:14.

By grace, let's not deceive ourselves like Peter who thought he could keep the law - "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour" - but ended up denying Christ three times. The reason why we are not committing particular sins and why many think they can keep the law (dead works) is because God did not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear - 1 Cor. 10:13. The arm of flesh will fail. Never trust yourself. Trust in the Lord with all your heart!

Believe Right and you will Live Right!

what can I say, if you already completely believe what you have written and the Spirit of God doesn't convict you and convince you, nothing more I can say to you.

But then to anyone else reading this, I pray the Holy Spirit you ALL of God's word, that you may understand the way you should go, the truth you should seek and the life you should have.
Religion / Re: The Difference Between "Dead Works" And "Works Of Faith" - Olamide Obire by gohf: 12:14pm On May 10
jiggaz:
With dead works, one can boast e.g. "God rewarded me with a job and money because I paid my tithe, washed church toilet and obeyed the Ten Commandments." Notice no Christ saving in the equation? It's all about the person and his works. Notice the contradiction of Romans 8:32-

"He who did not spare His own Son but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"

But with works of faith, one cannot boast in the flesh (human effort.) God gives us ALL things FREELY with Christ. He is our Source of righteousness and our power to "live in triumph over sin and death" (Romans 5:17.)
When a person cooks a meal intending to feed a person but then adds poison intending to kill them, it's done as deception so the person can eat both the food and the poison, like rats do. What you have written here shouldn't be a justification for the lies written later, except it's a disguise of the devil to destroy souls

Because of His sacrifice for us, we don't HAVE TO live right aka depend on the arm of flesh that will fail at keeping the law. In Him, we GET TO live right. In Him, we get to love, give, do exploits and live a life of moral excellence that exceeds that which the law demands, yet not us but Christ in us. Our boast is in Christ alone and not human striving like the Pharisees who disregarded Christ and His finished work.

There's no need to write you don't have to live right in an attempt to differentiate between having to and getting to. Do not contradict the commands of Jesus that we HAVE TO DO, we don't just GET TO, it's not just an opportunity that you can take or reject but a COMMAND you either obey or disobey.

See Ephesians 2:8-10-

"For it was only through this wonderful grace that we believed in Him. Nothing we did could ever earn this salvation, for it was the gracious gift from God that brought us to Christ! 9 So no one will ever be able to boast, for salvation is never a reward for good works or human striving."

Pastors and leaders, only the blood of Jesus has the power to set us free from sin and cause us to serve the living God in the way He wants us to; not more law-keeping or more lists of dos and don'ts! This according to Hebrews 9:14-

"how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?"
Eph.2.8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,.... You read this and you tell yourself that Paul was saying Salvation is a gift, a free gift which contradicts several verses of what he has written, contradicts the gospel record of what Jesus said and taught, nor the writing of others like Peter, James and John.

Listen to me, faith is not of ourselves, faith comes from God. Yes the blood washes us but it doesn't force us to serve God. You may say no no it means to give us a reason to serve God, but then do you know what it means to serve, to serve is to obey. So you contradict yourself by saying, God wants us to serve him but in a way that doesn't mean we obey him.

How does cleansing your conscience stop you from obeying the commands of Christ Jesus? Jesus said don't pray for others to see, don't sound proud of use too many words and so many things written in the new testament.

Dead works are things done to get into God's good books or score points in righteousness AFTER God gave His own Son up for us to make us right with Himself, e.g. telling people to use the Ten Commandments as their standard of righteousness, fast or sow seed in order to get God to bless them or escape His wrath. Notice no finished work of Christ in the equation?
here comes your lie again,
Dead works are not what you have described, no they are works done contrary to what Jesus has done. Works of the flesh, works of the mosaic law and prophets as regards to sacrifices and atonement.

But here you are calling the very commandments that God himself wrote that Jesus preached and taught, you call them dead works. The very commands that demonstrate love for God and love for our neighbour, you call them dead works. What useless equation are you looking for when you take out the very words of God.

See how Isaiah describes all these works in Isaiah 64:6-

"We are all like one who is unclean, all our so-called righteous acts are like a menstrual rag in Your sight."
but alas it's because of rubbish like this I was instructed to do a teaching on righteousness. Did you skip verse 5, where God meets with the righteous? Do you understand why Isaiah used menstral rags and not any other term. Why dead blood if he wasn't referring to a righteousness from animal sacrifices. Did you read the rest that shows why the sacrifice of Jesus is important. Was the problem good deeds or their sins and unrepentance.

Why have you done this?

In Christ, we are not under law but under grace where sin does not have dominion over us! The more people are told to obey the law and do things by human effort to get right with God or receive from Him, the more sin has dominion,
and this is a lie, even Paul answered this ridiculous assumption. Grace is given for us to overcome sin, grace is given to those who cry out in their weaknesses in their struggle to please God, God's grace is given and sufficient for them. You write this demonic inspire nonsense that those who strive to please God and be right with God, sin will have more dominion over them. Then why did Jesus come, why did he pray in John and interceeds in the heaven, is it for the willing or for the unwilling, the repentant or the indulgents. Those who carry their crosses and follow him or those who claim to have seen him in their streets.

"For sin shall not have dominion over you for you are not under law but under Grace." Romans 6:14.

True for Grace is God's power to those who are righteous, who listen and obey Jesus Christ. Not to those who claim they believe but do not obey, but to those who do the will of the father not workers of iniquity.

See Romans 8:32- "He who did not spare His own Son but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"

Shall he not give us, SHALL, not HAS, God will bring to pass his promises. Our hope in the kingdom of God that's coming, and not in this world nor the things of this world.

In Christ, God's blessings upon us are given FREELY, without terms and conditions like sowing seed, being sin-free by human effort, paying tithe or whatever.
true about tithint or whatever, but the blessings of God are to the poor, those who mourn, the meek, those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. The blessings of God are not to the wicked but to the righteous, to those who do what pleases God.

Matthew 1:21 says of our Saviour Jesus Christ:

"She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

God's Grace (Christ Himself) is not a license to continue in sin! Never! He is the Way out of a sinful life to one of Right Living! He came to save us from our sins. Let's take our blessed brains to church: How can a Saviour who came to save us from our sins use those very sins that He came to save us from as an excuse for not saving us? This is akin to an oncologist dad refusing to treat his own beloved child who has cancer and even punishing his child....because his child has cancer.

In Christ, God gave us His gift of righteousness and supplies us with His Spirit- the only "chemo" that can get rid of the cancer of sin as well as its effects in our lives. His eyes burn at sin but radiate perfect love for the sinner who believes.

Christ came to save us from those very sins that some false doctrine preachers say are a barrier to receiving from God. Such say you "fall from grace" when you sin but see how God's word says a person falls from grace:

"For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God's grace." Galatians 5:4.
again you have said what is right but mixed with it that which is false, that may be because you are not fully skilled in rightly dividing the word of truth for how can you assume that the law Paul writes about which is the scripture, moses and the prophets is the law of faith, the law of God which saves us. Did you forget how Paul himself treats an adultery who claims to be a believer in 1 Corinthians 5. Jesus came to save us from sin not save us to sin. If sin was never a barrier then the sacrifices of Jesus wasn't needed. You fall from grace when you live in sin, and anyone who lives in sin is under the law so also those who try to observe the law are also under the law. But we leaving the sinful world behind follow Jesus

Our sins are what qualify us for God's abundant Grace. And all have sinned. No matter who we are, we were all destined for hell until Jesus came and became sin for us. Based on His sacrifice, Romans 5:9 says of God:

"And there is still much more to say of His unfailing love for us! For through the blood of Jesus we have heard the powerful declaration, “You are now righteous in My sight.” And because of the sacrifice of Jesus, you will never experience the wrath of God."
our sins qualify us to receive nothing but death, if not for the mercies of God that called us out, you know this but what qualifies us is our obedience to God's call, our obedience to the word of God, Jesus. That's what qualifies us to receive his grace.
Romans 5:9 the blood of Jesus Justifies those who believe in Jesus, to be justified is to be freed from ones wrongs. You have been freed but that doesn't mean you have done anything right before God. We are freed not to go and sin but to go and do good works, to go and do the right and righteous things that please God.

But false doctrine peddlers say you are no longer righteous because you sinned and that God will pour His wrath on you unless you redo the "one time" sacrifice of Jesus! Believer, understand that this side of heaven, no one can EVER be sin-free by human effort. Jesus Christ the Good Shepherd will never abandon we His sheep because we fell or defecated on ourselves. Until Christ comes for His saints, this is what He said He is doing in our lives:

"Jesus said, “Don’t bicker among yourselves over Me. You’re not in charge here. The Father who sent Me is in charge. He draws people to Me—that’s the only way you’ll ever come. Only then do I do My work, putting people together, setting them on their feet, ready for the End."
true we all sin and make mistakes but we REPENT, seek forgiveness and DO WHAT IS RIGHT BEFORE GOD. We don't sin and stay in sin. Being righteous isn't about self effort to be sin free but Matthew 25:32-46 kind of righteousness. The righteousness that's opposite to being workers of iniquity.

God's gift of righteousness to us in Christ everlasting and apart from works. Romans 3:21 says:

"But now God has shown us a way to be made right with Him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago."
God's gift of righteousness is not righteousness, God's gift of righteousness is eternal life in Jesus Romans 5:17. That is what is given to the righteous.

Some people read this and act like we who are under Grace invented it. Such DISBELIEVE GOD'S WORD and say things like:

"So we can just go and be sinning anyhow? So I can go and kill someone and God won't mind? We have to keep the Law in order to be holy."

To such, we ask the question: why would you deliberately become sick just to enjoy the cure?

Jesus came for the sick, not those who have their sin act together by themselves (Mark 2.) His "Neither do I condemn you" that makes us "go and sin no more."

Believing things like "God blessed me because I paid my tithe and don't fornicate or lie" is a testament to being under law where sin has dominion. All these "good things" done to get into God's good books are like a menstrual rag in His sight. See Isaiah 64:6-

"We are all like one who is unclean, all our so-called righteous acts are like a menstrual rag in Your sight."
you keep mentioning tithing, it is well, don't add that to what is severely written in the new testament AGAINST FORNICATION. we have to obey God's commands, thou shall not commit adultery. There is no thou shall not pay me money. Be ware of what you are mixing up. We are not under the law of Moses but under the law of God, under God's law. It is his law to save us, the law of faith we abide by. Do not become lawless and immoral with such believes and become a worker of iniquity.

With Christ, there is nothing like: "Now that you are born-again, you have to keep the Ten Commandments or else, hell."
twice times Jesus was asked, teacher how do I inherit eternal life, Jesus didn't say believe me and that's all, he said keep the commandments, he mentioned the ones relating to loving our neighbours and at the second instance he said love God, love your neighbour and you have done well.

Jesus said repent, I tell you, repent and renounce all these you have written, maybe you will be forgiven and not judged by it.

Jesus said in John 5:19 - "The Son can do nothing of Himself. He can do only what He sees His Father doing."

In Christ, we have received the Spirit of sonship from our Heavenly Father. We are now children of God. "As Christ is, so are we in this world."

With Christ as our righteousness and forsaking that which comes from our puny efforts at obeying the law just as Paul did in Philippians, we GET TO do what our Heavenly Father does. And what He does is LOVE! So we love! It's difficult for you to desire to do things that can hurt people that you love.
with "Christ as your righteousness" where is it in your bible you know what is actually written is that we might BECOME the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ 2 Corinthians 5:21. The reason Jesus took our sins, the reason he preached repent, was so we can become righteous so that we can live a life offered to God, a living sacrifices pleasing to God.. hmmm

When the love of Christ and His gift of righteousness and no condemnation (check out the story of the adulterous woman!) is constantly unveiled to the people from the pulpit, they will Live Right.
Jesus did not make the woman righteous, he neither comdemned her because that's not why he came the first time but what did he tell her John 8:11 GO AND SIN NO MORE. Jesus forgives us, not so we can break the commandments. Why do you think they tested Jesus with the commandments and not the mosaic law. They wanted Jesus to either comdemn her or declare her innocent but both decisions were a trap, so Jesus with wisdom told them to judge her by themselves, along as they don't have any sin to be judged by. Because if you judge others you will be judged. Jesus has been judged for us, becoming sin, taking our sins so he has the right to judge when he returns.

They will not desire to continue in sin! 2 Corinthians 3:18 says "But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord."

The transformation happens through the power of the Holy Spirit, not by beating the sheep or levying the sheep with more rules and regulations or forcing acts of "godliness" down their throats and condemning them because they can't do it! Of course we can't!This is why Jesus died for us! If we could handle sin on our own, we wouldn't need our Saviour!

But you lie sir, the very gospel Paul preached was repent, just as Peter preached and Jesus preached. 2 Corinthians 3:16 nevertheless when one repents, turns to the Lord, the veil is lifted.

2Cor.4.2 But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

They preached against it, they renounced it. Paul wrote more rules in the new testament than some so called grace church even observe yet you quote his words as regards regulation. Paul regulated ministration in order for it to be done properly and not in confusion or discord. The power of the Holy Spirit, isn't it by the gospel, which has that power to save us. The gospel that says REPENT.

Matthew 1:21 says of Him:

"She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
you keep quoting this and yet you did not notice it says HIS PEOPLE, not unrepentant sinners, not the wicked, not the rebellious, not the disobedient, not the lawless. But his people, those who believe and follow him, those who obey his command to love and abide in his love.

And with our Jesus, it's all or nothing. If you feel that you still have some good in you, you don't qualify for His grace. Our Lord God justifies the ungodly, not those who feel they can keep even just a tiny part or the Ten Commandments on their own!
another evil lie, Jesus called a man in the gospel and John and said, John.1.47 When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, "Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is nothing false." This man Jesus called to follow him.

What do you think, why would you ever consider that the Lord would love the wicked but despise those who do good. Is it not written that Jesus loved the rich man who obeyed the 10 commandments though he walked away sad due to the requirements for perfection.
Religion / Re: Difference Between The He INNOCENT And The FAITHFUL by gohf: 10:39am On May 10
MaxInDHouse:
INNOCENCE simply means one who is not part of a case such a person knows nothing about what really happened so when talking about such case he or she is INNOCENT.
FAITHFUL refers to someone who dedicate his or her life to a course even though he or she may have offended many just to fulfil the course.

When talking about God's Kingdom no innocent person can gain entry rather God is rewarding only those who are FAITHFUL.

Faith will surely expose it's bearer to dangers in the hands of the faithless because he will stand and speak up against faithlessness but the innocent will remain silent not knowing which side he or she should fall to.

Jesus said:

"Do not think I came to bring peace to the earth; I came to bring, not peace, but a sword.  For I came to cause division, with a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. Indeed, a man’s enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever has greater affection for father or mother than for me is not worthy of me; and whoever has greater affection for son or daughter than for me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not accept his torture stake and follow after me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his soul will lose it, and whoever loses his soul for my sake will find it. Matthew 10:34-39

From the above statement can someone rightly say Jesus was INNOCENT regarding the troubles the Pharisees and Sadducees were dragging with him that led to his execution?

Surely not because he knew the one behind their actions {John 8:44} and he is ever ready to kick against both Satan and his agents so when standing before Pontius Pilate Jesus remained silent knowing fully well the real course of his persecution.

But did Pontius Pilate understand what was happening?

NO! Pilate was INNOCENT of the whole thing.

But does that mean Pilate will be given a Visa into God's Kingdom?

Not until he proved which side he will stand! smiley
what evil noises and nonsenses are you writing, is it definitely not about the one true God.

"No innocent person can gain entry" into where? So your God destroys the innocent abi? You're have been deceived to worshiping the devil instead of God YHVH.

The Matthew 10:34–35 you quoted, what does it have to do with what you wrote next.

Innocent doesn't mean ignorant, innocent means not guilty for a crime. You are not innocent of your crime against English, you may be ignorant but definitely not innocent of changing the meaning of words and things

Light78:
I have wondered why certain churches or dominions have as many as four offerings in a service. I am not sure if they are attempting to take advantage of their members/parishoners or to make quick money.

Overseas, I do not believe offerings are done twice or thrice, but in Nigeria, certain churches make first offerings, second offerings, third offerings, and so on.

What are your thoughts about those churches?
it's greed and the love of money

But also the understanding that the people are as selfish as they are and refuse to give

The question of how many offerings, one offering is enough, come and give to God freely it doesn't have to be many times in one day or week.

Infact everything you have as a child of God should belong to God and as such he gives you instructions on who and where to give it. You are not giving God what he has that isn't even your own if you have completely surrendered to him.

I used to attend canaanland but recently we went alot in the country. Last year, due to the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of naira, we suffer alot, but what did my church did for his members in return, nothing. Aleast, just little palliative to the people that has been paying tithe and offering. When the Lord Jesus Christ was here on earth and he was preaching in the wilderness, the bible says he had compassion on the multitudes because they have not eaten for days. But what are our churches giving back to their members that pay there tithe and offering with there hard earned money, nothing. No compassion. No pity. So because of this sole reason, I stop attending canaanland. Since then I have been trying to get another church to attend, but most don't preach the word to the level that I am. So I just sit at home and read my Bible and pray every Sundays
You can join us at the gate of Hope Fellowship

Hopefully praying with us in the Spirit will reignite your love for God and do the righteous works Jesus commands.

There may be no need to say this but we don't collect tithe, and you are joining to pray to God through the Holy Spirit so that you can grow and be built up. You're also free to inquire concerning the gospel.

I still pray that you discover a love of God and relationship through the Holy Spirit God bless you

How Can I Love God?
First accept his love for you through his word, Jesus Christ and the gospel Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand.

When you Repent your heart is broken from the things you have done wrong, and your contrite heart is acceptable unto God and made new when you seek forgiveness and turn to Him.

After that as long as your repentance is genuine, God who sees the heart will give you His Holy Spirit to shed love across your heart and then you will love him with all your heart and the love of this world and things of this world will be less in you.

So first you repent, believe and accept his love

Then to love God you love your neighbours, you become righteous by giving to those in need and helping those in need. If you don't love others then God's love is not in you and you are not born again.
