realpoacher: When someone wants to be clever by half like you, this is what they spill. Look at the bolded below carefully
At the bolded statement, meaning.... Since it's a matter of opponent, with Arsenal he faces more disciplined opponents but with Nigeria it's not.
In other words, Zambia, Algeria, Cameroon, and Argentina are all less disciplined teams.
If this isn't you degrading the teams we have played so far then, I wonder what it is.
The way some of you reason sometimes is funny!... So we here are all toddlers or probably you think us fools who can't differentiate a snide remark.
You must not tell a man he is stupid before he knows that you have insulted him. Don't jump into conclusion when you don't understand things. Look,Arsenal are are famous for playing possession football, teams who face Arsenal play with a lot of defensive mindset to disrupt their game. Cameroun, Argentina, Algeria and Zambia left gaps (that is if you watched any of those games anyway)that no team in England will dare give Arsenal. This results in Iwobi having more space to do damage for Nigeria than he is normally used to at Arsenal. Mind you this is just my opinion on why Iwobi have better record for Nigeria than Arsenal. How a supposedly sane, educated and rationale person will interpret my post as degrading Nigerian opponents beats me hollow. |

tbaba1234: Some level of education can prevent poorly designed scams. Players can avoid getting swindled by agents and signing slave contracts if they know what to do to protect themselves. Education mixed with street smart could help in preventing poorly designed scams, but in my case it was just about trusting too much someone I considered family. The guy knew my investment plans, he simply partnered with some individuals who posed as importers and I trusted him to go check out those trucks because I wasn't in the country at the time and I never suspected anything. That was the end In Oruma's case, I think hedging all his investment in a business venture which he knew very little about was a mistake everyone should learn from, not just football players. The saying " never put all your eggs in one basket" is as old as time itself. |

Kog45: Hope you remember Kanu was duped too,it's not about people you moved with and till today Kanu never get over it,he should thank God for his great personality that's paving way for him now through his foundation.
My man let pray not to fall victim of 419 syndicate or a close pal whom you trust but is looking for a way to swindle you
Austin Okocha too almost lost his hard earned money when SGBN had issues but God smiles on him cos he is a top personality, did you know how many Nigerians who have lost fortunes through bad investment.
My man education is the key though we seems not to appreciate it any longer due to easy money in sports and entertainment industry but i realized that educated ones always manages their little resources and earn respect.
Pls compare Segun Odegbami and Adokiye Aimeseameka to their mates, the two are up there leaving a very good life cos they are educated.Felix Owolabi too who had PHD in PE. is having it good.
Seyi Olofinjana despite little money he made is doing well cos of his education and moving faster than his peers in sports entrepreneurship.
Pls check Mike Emenalo rising profile, this is a graduate of Boston university and had poor career as a footballer saving for WC appearance but his education is pushing him up everyday.
Jonathan Akpoborie a US university graduate too had serious issue relating to illegal migrants to the extent his contract was terminated but till today his education is helping him out by having a decent life.
Waheed Akanni also a US university graduate is leaving a cool life despite having a short career as a footballer. He is now the rally point for ex internationals just cos of his education and exposure.
My man education is the key cos if a man is down but looking at his certificate, smiles always comes cos it pave ways unannounced. You nailed it @the bolded. I was swindled by a trusted partner back in 2011 when I wanted to invest in heavy duty dump trucks. This guy perfected his strategy because he was an insider and just like Shakespeare said"there is no art to know the construction of a man's heart, in the face". I could never have have guessed such a trusted ally had it in mind to dupe me. I learnt from it and moved on even though the episode set me back but thank goodness I didn't go loco. Falling victim to fraud is not about education but trusting the wrong person. In Oruma's case, he trusted his pastor. He didn't do no wrong by trusting his pastor. |

ChrisKels: When I broke the news of Rohr's progress in the pursuit of the German boys sometime late November last year, some people thought I made it up, while some were questioning his continuous pursuit of these boys while the pro innit boys were tagging him a nepotist who is biased with his decisions when it concerns the Germans. People like Kog45 and tbaba1234 tried to be smart, hence, tbaba1234 said Uduokhai would be a lost curse, because, out of the trio, he was the only one with a feasible German dream as he is immensely talented, many reasons were given as to why our pursuit of him was a pipe dream. I jst giggled, and ignored the various quotes because my insider never gives me fake news. U all can now c for urselves
To those pro innit boys, PLEASE which of those average innit players can boldly say he is open to playing for Nigeria? People want us to worship whack players like Adarabi just because he is a mancity prodigy, tomori etc. Though Felix is head and shoulders above those innit guys, did u all see how respectful he sounded to the GWG? komekn: I share your concerns.
Your observations are not in dispute. But having read numerous posts by you. I will qualify it with an assumption to bring clarity. That you are highlighting that we have only one outstanding player playing in a top league that's consistent and in form. That player would be Ndidi, his age irrelevant.
However. I would bring in Victor Moses and Iwobi as playing top flight although not as consistent as Ndidi. But top performing yes.
The rest of our entire defensive line up of CB's are either playing in the backwaters of Turkey or struggling to make first team in a bottom of the league Bundesliga team that I would equate on par with an English Championship team if not lower.
We have China crew of players excluding Obagoal. And players who are not even the stand out players in thier far from highly rated leagues.
Every team that has got to the final of the World cup has had the larger % of its players playing in the top leagues of the World. In addition with a good number of World class or emerging top quality outstanding players in the team.
Considering my observations would you say that's reflective of the SE Team spirit can only get you so far but Quality will propel you Further. In my opinion, team spirit is just one component of a successful team which can only take you thus far..... However, team spirit in perfect fusion with hard work, talent, organization, tactics, consistency and discipline makes a winning team. In a global event, like the world cup where teams are almost on par on the listed variables, talent and consistency becomes the tie breaker. |

realpoacher: This is double standard down there.
It is becoming clearer by the minute where your allegiance lies.
In one minute you were caught saying we haven't played any Grade A team with a solid defense,,but when called out about Argentina, you quickly downplayed their loss to us. I bet, if we had lost that particular friendly match, your statement would have read...
"we were scoring with ease against weak opponents but when we met Grade A team with a solid defense like Argentina, we lost or we couldn't score"
Many members here have been on your case all week concerning the way you berate both our players and the SE as a whole. You have never said anything good about them, it has been from one complain to the other about them without profering a single solution to the problems you highlighted.
You see, when I make accusations against you and people like you on this thread that you guys have hidden agendas against the SE, you all feel slighted.
I mean, isn't it obvious from the way you all talk from both sides of your mouth?.... Whenever we lose or play badly, you all spring forth from wherever you are hiding at to insult our players and find fault at will. Regardless of the opposition.
But whenever we win even against a big team, you all will rather downplay our win rather than congratulate the boys. If that isn't double standards then I wonder what it is
Your type, even if we qualified for the quarter finals of the world Cup this year.., it will be either a fluke or that tournament itself is poor, or that all the teams we met gave us a leeway!
You guys are a lost cause
Your motive for being here is getting clearer by the day but God pass una

Icon4s: But Argentina was a grade A opposition.
And I must also point out that some of those African defenses are very difficult nuts to crack o. Being grade A doesn't mean defensively solid. They were totally out of shape in the 2nd half. I would think they went gongho and played to our hands. Arsenal for instance is a grade A team but against Nottingham, they couldn't maintain any defensive shape and they got tanked 4:2. Being grade A means little in this context. African teams are mostly physical. They are not famous for playing organised football. Egypt and Morocco are the 2 teams that is a total departure from African football in terms of organisation and structure on the pitch. |

His end product for Nigeria is always top notch so why can't he do same or more for Arsenal that natured him and are paying his salary? Could be a matter of opponent. With Arsenal, he faces more disciplined opponents than he has done so far with Nigeria. The world cup will be a litmus test for him, because he will be facing highly technical, disciplined and defensively rigid teams. This is why most world cup matches are boring and drab. |

Coaches do not ignore the voice of the fans for too long o. Exactly! Iwobi is now an international player other young players look up and aspire to follow his footsteps. It's all about end product now. The likes of Nathan Miles and Nelson are the babies of the team and they can be excused for about a couple of mistakes on the pitch. The fans are paying customers. krattoss: sometimes it's not easy for these coaches oooo. . if Wenger was a jittery kinda coach, he would have bowed to criticism in his players a long time ago, but reverse is the case...maybe just like mourinho said, HE HAS THE SAFEST JOB ON THE PLANET Anyone conversant with Wenger's management style will know that he will definitely start Iwobi after the party incident. He did same with Wilshere when he was involved in a bar fight and night club , Sczezney and the cigarette smoking incident. Wenger went out of his way to start these guys despite the bad presser. Physiologically, the players are heavily indepthed to him and such owe him big performance. This is pure reverse psychology. This explains why he is much loved by his players |

Liamm: I'm a critic of Iwobi too but the performance he put out yesterday underscores the saying that indeed " form is temporary and class is permanent"(borrowed). He was only let down a couple times by his end product after completing a successful take-on. Something we barely witness when he's clad in the GWG. I reckon it's lack of understanding on the part of his teammates at club level Alright, I now have an idea what exactly happened. One thing you have to understand is that Iwobi is judged like every other senior player. He's no longer the baby of the team, if he had this sort of game a couple of years ago, people would have been swooning about his prospects. This is no longer the case, he is judged now mostly on his end product and rightly so. |

safarigirl: What is your definition of in form?
I thought the initial argument is whether our players are playing regularly or not, now it is whether they are in form or not.
This is how many months to World Cup? And you have already concluded we are not taking in form players to the tournament, pesin no fit pick form by March and even lose form in May? So, which one is we are not taking in form players to World Cup? Is this the new narrative?
Abeg, make una no dey blindside us with these funny arguments. Na so una talk last year say we go lose to Cameroon because our team does not have the chemistry Cameroon has after playing AFCON together, and what did we say that time? The match is still months away.
This your argument about who is in form for World Cup is quite premature to be honest Some players are are totally out of favour at their clubs while those who are playing, aren't lighting up their leagues. This have been my point, abinitio. Hopefully they pick form right on time before the mundial, but like I quoted Mujtahida, starting with the phrase AS IT STANDS |

Second of all, so, Ekong, Victor Moses, Ighalo, Mikel, Ogu, Onazi, Awaziem....these ones are not in form? What is your definition of 'in form' exactly? Ok,let's say 21yrs instead of 20.[s] He could be slightly more than 21 since he failed M.. [/s] Ekong in form? With a 6.0 coefficient rating ? Is that a number which defines form? Victor Moses is under severe threat from Zapata Costa for his Chelsea spot since his unconvincing performances coming back from injury. The Chinese season was wrapped up late November or thereof. What can you say about the form of Mikel and Odion (there was big fight on the thread before his recall, in a flash he has become the most dependable) Awaziem started very well in France but he went off boil as the season wore on... komekn: And there are those who think the Championship is ewah and dodo.
What I have said is the EPL is the most competitive league in the World. The championship is its first cousin and the gulf is there but not as huge as some may think.
For instance the Bundesliga has been dominated by one club for near two decades. The Scottish league by Celtic for almost a decade. La Liga not so much and Seria A as well.
It's in this regard I look at the championship as being on par or superior competitively not necessarily technically to leagues that are ranked below the top 5.
I would say the lower half of the Bundesliga is on oar with the Championship my biased opinion. A physically weak player like Kelechi will find success hard to come by in the Championship. The league rewards physically strong players with good ariel prowess. A guy like Kelechi who shy away from the physical side of things will be eaten alive in that league. His best bet is to leave Blighty and seek pastures new. Although, he will take a reasonable amount of pay cut, which his handlers will certainly not entertain. |
