ThiefOfHearts:The links and quotes are exactly what I'm talking about. They're all about the 'Sunnah'. ThiefOfHearts:Yet another English comprehension problem. The context I'm talking about, not implying, is the one in which my name was mentioned. You claimed you were only summarizing the whole thread, and that you naturally had to mention my name but you weren't referring to me. And since you said my replies to you were "whines", and were only a proof of my guilt of your baseless accusations, I then replied you saying, even in the context in which you had to mention my name, naturally, you had a wrong notion about my motive, which was why I felt the need to reply in order to correct that perception you had, and not because of any feeling of guilt of any stupid passive aggression, as you put it. ThiefOfHearts:Nope. The reason why everyone (me in particular) is on your neck is because you accused me, as the OP, of trying to ridicule Islam, as well as the other posters too, even though I already made my intentions clear over and over again. If you can't accept it the way it is, you can as well jump into the nearest lagoon for all I care. |
Interractive session is on the 16th. |
ThiefOfHearts:Mukina only told me why Muslim men keep beards - because it is "Sunnah", which, to me, isn't even worth calling a reason. On the other hand, Olabowale pointed out the significance of beard keeping, which I also find absurd anyway. If you think I have anything against Mukina for not accepting her replies, then you're greatly mistaken. Just incase you didn't know, Mukina and I get along very well on Yahoo messenger. ThiefOfHearts:That's the so-called knowledge I obtained from the 8-page thread - Yes. That is okay with me? - No. Don't put words into my mouth, miss! ThiefOfHearts:No one, really. ThiefOfHearts:What? ThiefOfHearts:And since the context in which my name was mentioned, naturally, was perceived wrongly, I had every reason to address that. English comprehension obviously isn't your suit. |
ThiefOfHearts:Well, sorry to break your heart, but I'm not. If you want to prove otherwise, do that on that thread, not here.ThiefOfHearts:And since when did refuting your baseless aspersions become "CRYING"? ThiefOfHearts:Apparently, you mentioned my name in your post, meaning I am part of those you were referring to. I feel the need to keep addressing your continuous wrong perception about the thread starter and the thread itself, hence my constant "whining". If you have any problems with that, move to Romance, Sexuality or Forum games section. Cheers. |
ThiefOfHearts:What I said was her answers were not satisfactory enough. English woman, English!!! As the thread starter, I am the one that actually knows what I want to get from the question I asked. Since the responses she offered did not satisfy my query, I had every reason to indicate so. As you can see, I didn't question all, but one of Olabowale's replies - the only one I had a problem with, obviously. ThiefOfHearts:I asked Seun to re-open the thread because I had not yet gotten the answers I seeked. Who told you nothing useful has come out of this thread? Perhaps, m4malik is actually right about your presumed sight deficiency. ThiefOfHearts:I don't know about the others, but personally, I have learnt that: * Every drop of water that drips off the body is a sign that sins are dropping off and being wiped off from the record. * The beard of man is a secondary sex organ. At least, I now know this is how it is seen in Islam. Though I actually find these preposterous, I really don't have any reason in particular to question their beliefs/practises. ThiefOfHearts:Are these your middle names? ThiefOfHearts:Really? |
ThiefOfHearts:Why don't you just STFU then and ignore this thread. And has Havila has advised, move to the Romance or Sexuality section, or betterstill, go to Forum games where you'll be much useful. I'm really getting sick and tired of all the BS you've been spilling on this thread. |
ThiefOfHearts:Be sincere to yourself. Forget the posts made by the others. Go through my posts on this thread. Does anyone of them sound like I'm out to ridicule Islam? |
Honestly, mukina2, you will do yourself a big favour if you stop responding to this topic. You copied and pasted theories that you cannot back up, and you're angry that you're being attacked? |
Didn't you read the whole info on the page when you checked your admission status? Anyway, read this again, from my above post: Candidates who submitted documents for the Screening Exercise and have not been short-listed for the Interactive Session will be given another opportunity for consideration by processing a Change of Course into courses where vacancies may exist at a later date. This category of candidates are advised to visit constantly/regularly the University of Ibadan Website (http:/www.ui.edu.ng/admission) for further details. |
mukina2:If she's my wife or girlfriend, I'll definitely return her annoyance with compassion + love. But if she's just a b*tch from nowhere, mi sorry gan o! |
yemmydavid:I will like to know as well. |
mukina2:I already got my answer. Olabowale already explained why muslim men wear long beards, though I find most reasons somewhat ridiculous. I still got the answer I seeked anyway. |
ThiefOfHearts:I started this thread with the sole aim of getting an answer, not to ridicule. Please stop casting unnecessary aspersions here. |
Do you see anything like "network cable has been unplugged"? If you do, just check the LAN cable if it's properly connected. Also, the NIC may be the problem. You can try replacing it with another one. Also, do you use a router? If you do, try disconnecting the router for a few seconds, then reconnect. If any of these does not work, format the PC. |
Interesting. But if you open and resave it, it won't be 'corrupt' anymore. You'll see the text as it is. |
mrmayor:For the sake of clarity, Ribena cannot be called wine, since it's generally believed that anything 'wine' must be alcoholic. But in actual fact, it is still wine - a non-alcoholic one, with medicinal values. Non-alcoholic wines are betteroff called Juices. mrmayor:It's not a marketing ploy. It is simple English. I expected that the article I made reference to earlier should have cleared this whole issue. The problem is that Wine has always been associated with alcohol, intoxication, etc. Even in the dictionary, most definitions you will get will be something like "An alcoholic beverage. . ." But even the same dictionary recognises the fact that wine is a generic word, and should not always be associated with alcohol, unless of course, you want me to believe that the dictionary is not reliable afterall. Even from the etymology, you will see that it was borrowed from the Latin word, 'vinum' which means grape or vine. Moreso, the dictionary makes us to realise that the common Hebrew word for wine is "_yayin_", from a root meaning "to boil up," "to be in a ferment." Others derive it from a root meaning "to tread out," and hence the juice of the grape trodden out. So as you can see, wine is a generic word. It can either be fermented or unfermented. It can either be alcoholic or non-alcoholic. It can either be a soft drink or a "hard drink". It's all about the grammar. mrmayor:Alcoholic wine, Yes. |
Okay, I hear you. So help me God! ![]() |
What are we defining here, guys? Is it a lady you're married to, dating, or just a friend, or just 'anyhow' girl? I can only slap the last category there. @nike, that was why I cancelled the 'lady' and put 'b*tch' instead. I expect anyone to understand that way. |
@ sage: You can make noise from now till kingdom come, I really don't care. Even from dictionary.com, wine is defined as "the juice, fermented or unfermented, of various other fruits or plants, used as a beverage, sauce, etc.: gooseberry wine; currant wine." That's the 3rd definition there. I guess the lexicographers are also "self-righteous idiots" trying to "condition our minds". ![]() Did you even bother to go through the link I provided earlier? |
mrmayor:What's laughable about it? Of course, boiling the the grape juice made it thicker into a syrup, and they simply diluted it with water whenever they desired to drink it. mrmayor:Those that wanted to keep it as grape juice simply followed the process described above (or any other methods available then). Those that wanted it as wine allowed it ferment, and then sold. It's as simple as that. Who ever told you fruit juices were always produced for commercial purposes? Moreso, investigations also show that the ancients were far more knowledgeable in the art of preserving fruits and wines than generally presumed: http://www.biblicalperspectives.com/books/wine_in_the_bible/3.html |
Will Smith is a British comedian. Just do a google search on him for more info. |
Move to the thread. We'll discuss that there (even though those areas have been tackled already). |
First of all, freshly squeezed grape juice begins to ferment after 6 hours. So, there is a possibility that the wine that was drank in that occasion was a freshly squeezed grape, that was served to the attendants almost immediately. As for your question, that's very simple. The technique the Jews used to preserve grape juice 2000 years ago was by boiling it at a high temperature. When it had cooled, it was then poured it into vessels, covered and sealed up. This prevented it from fermenting in a long time. Also, a famous Roman judge, Cato, once said: "If you want to keep the grape juice through the whole year, put it in an amphora, seal the stopper with pitch, and sink it in the pond". I don't know how true this is anyway. ![]() |
Also on the issue of the Marriage at Cana, read this article: http://www.layneministries.com/wine.htm. It explains the type of "wine" actually drunk at the marriage ceremony, and also touches some other important things one ought to know concerning wine and it's usage in the Bible. |
mrmayor:Of course, unfermented wine is the grape juice! I think the problem here is about the usage of the word "wine" itself. It is a generic word, meaning it can either be fermented or unfermented. This article clears it all: http://www.bible.ca/s-wine-alcohol.htm Also, those that keep using Timothy 5:23 as an excuse to drink alcohol should read this short article: http://users.tpg.com.au/sarina21/trumpet/unfermentedwineforstomach.html. I believe that should clarify all misconceptions/misinterpretations about that particular verse of the Bible. |
Now, who's the troublemaker here? ![]() |
mukina2:The verb used in that phrase is in the past tense. olodo. ![]() mukina2:na u sabi. |
mukina2:You mean "wouldn't" right? Well, I was a boy then; and she was a girl too. ![]() mukina2:Sharrap! ![]() |
mukina2:I know. I was only making the "equation" balanced. If guys can be slapped for insulting mums, ladies should also be slapped for insulting mums. Simple! mukina2:I started that statement with a conditional clause. I will only do it, IF the need be. That does not make me a lady beater, since I'll do even more than that if it's a guy. My outburst there was only as a result of your injunction that "no matter what a lady does. . ." I do not subscribe to that school of thought at all. mukina2:I have slapped a lady just once in my life (and that's the one I narrated up there). I have been vexed so many times by ladies beyond imagination, but I usually simply walk away to a silent place to cool my head. BTW, why are you making it appear like guys slap ladies just for the fun of it? For a sensible guy to slap a lady, the lady must have gone beyond her boundary. Even then, ladies have crossed their boundaries with me so many times, but I still refuse to lay my hands on them. So you see, I'm a real man. A very gentle one for that matter. ![]() |
mukina2:Keep deceiving yourself. ![]() mukina2:It all depends on the circumstances surrounding the drama at that moment. mukina2:If a ![]() |
