That anyone at all (Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hinduist, atheist, or whatever) can get questions 1 and 5 wrongly really beats me.

I strongly believe that Nigeria would qualify; because the Elephants would not want to meet Ghana the host country so they would do their and to ensure that they defeat mail.

So fear not because all is well. wink

If they play a draw, they still will not meet Ghana, and Nigeria still goes out anyway.

But he had acted out of sheer ignorance, ab initio.  That alone should have made God forgive him, even without him asking (I would, if it were my child).  Perhaps, Adam himself didn't know what it meant to ask for "forgiveness"?  Considering the fact that he was a new human (more like a child), I think he was "innocently naive" then. smiley

And that's assuming he even knew what he did was bad in the first place. Before eating the fruit, he was oblivious of good and evil, innit?

Very interesting, but very vague.

He turned around, and God was there? How exactly did God find him?

Some kain titles dey amaze me sef:

~ the "Right" Reverend (others may not be so "right")

~ the "Very" Reverend (e fit pass the above)

~ the "Most" Reverend (na im senior them all!)

There's more; but I just keep wondering where these titles emanate from and what they have to do with ministers among God's people? undecided

Religion / Re: Craze For Title! by goodguy(m): 5:23pm On Jan 28, 2008
Na Cele own dey vex me pass!  Na there person go dey bear titles like:

- Honorary Evangelist

- Honorary Senior Evangelist

- Senior Evangelist

- Most Senior Evangelist

- Superior Evangelist

- Most Superior Evangelist

- Supreme Evangelist (currently the highest title, with the exception of the very 'heads' who bear "Rev. Prophet Pastor", with some others adding Capt., Dr. and Engr.!! shocked)

Funny thing is, before the demise of the Founder, the highest title that existed anywhere in the world was just "Senior Evangelist".  Even then, one must had attained a certain level in his spirituality before a newer title could be confered on them, as each and everyone of those titles have their spiritual significance.  But what do we have today?

Mehn, I tire for these people o!

Here's another report from THISDAY:

Frustrating results from Super Eagles first two matches has forced both officials of the FA and those from the Sports Ministry to commence in earnest the search for a new coach.

THISDAYSports gathered from officials of the FA that the German’s case has already been decided and even Globacom, which bankrolls his salaries have become dissatisfied with his performance and are ready to pullout of the deal, which has now necessitated his exit.

Already front-runners have emerged in the race for who will replace him. Louis Van Gaal, who once coached his country’s national team and Ajax Amsterdam in their glory days as the man touted as the man to take over the job.

Togo coach, Stephen Keshi, also got a mention as possible replacement for Austin Eguavoen, who has been accused of not guiding Vogts well under the guise that the buck stops at the table of the German, while Samson Siasia, who was a former assistant in the team, may also be drafted in to be part of the technical crew.

“We have to do something fast about the national team, because the World Cup qualifiers is around the corner and we don’t want what happened the last time around to happen again. There is need for serious job to be done on the team before the qualifiers so that we have a solid team for the country that will qualify for the first World Cup that is being played in Africa.

On fears that the country will pay heavily if it dispensed with the services of Vogts, the source said there were technicalities in the contract that can be explored without the country or sponsor having to pay heavily for sacking the German. Top NFA officials were locked in a meeting on Sunday over happenings at the Nations Cup and how to avert the backlash when they return home.

Wow man, I love your reply.  Short, simple and precise.

ricadelide:

Obviously, goodguy is speaking from personal experience (I saw another statement you made elsewhere). What extenuating circumstances (or is it notions), if I may ask, brought about this sudden change (or was it gradual) in your case?

Good observation, and a very good question as well.  The change was a gradual one, but unlike the poster here, I still believe in God (or simply put, a supreme being), but just as he said, a lot of things don't make sense anymore.  I've become rather skeptical about a lot of things regarding Christianity and religion as a whole.  There are different factors that influenced this change actually, but I'll put forward a major one here.  Check this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-43442.0.html

As I said before, the change may not necessarily be as a result of having being hypocritical in the past.  At least, for me I'm sure my previous posts on this forum prove that. . . if  anyone feels otherwise, well na them sabi.  I really don't know how to explain this myself. . you know, it's more like having a kind of mind renewal.   Like, all of a sudden, you begin to realise that all those things you once accepted hook, line and sinker weren't really meant to be, now that you reason it out logically.  I know someone will say spiritual things are not meant to be discerned logically.  But even then, there are practical stuffs in religion that really are illogical/irrational when viewed properly (objectively actually).  Some stories in the Bible are just totally absurd, and really leaves me wondering if this is the same God that is supposed to be omnibenevolent.  Just recently, I came across a passage in the Bible where God gave the Isrealites a go-ahead to go to war, kill the men and marry their women thereafter.  I was totally miffed.  Maybe I read it out of context, I don't know, or it wasn't meant to be taken literally?   Just last week too, I read this article on wikipedia and I became more confused??: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internal_consistency_and_the_Bible.  I'm quite a lazy reader, but I was surprised I could read the whole of that long piece to the end.  There are some stuffs I myself don't agree with there, I believe they did some pretty poor exegesis in some parts of that article, but for most parts, I agree with the writer.

However, the only reason I still haven't ruled out the possibility of the existence of a supreme being is because I still think theism is a more rational position to hold than atheism.  I'm not trying to start a debate here anyway, just dey yarn my mind.  Actually, I've been hoping earnestly that I will find a solid reason to come back fully into Christianity,so I've been doing more of reading than posting on this board.  You and pilgrim.1 have been very helpful so far, but when I just read all these Christian vs Muslim threads it arouses my skepticism the more. . . just as Jagunlabi would say, two deluded fellows arguing over which delusion is better. grin.  but hey, that is just by the way. wink

ricadelide:

Methinks, your clarification though is more to the line of what David and Pilgrim have argued: things seemed genuine, in other words, you touched an appearance of reality rather than the very real thing itself.

If there is any place where one can be in the midst of reality and still not be influenced by it, that place is christianity - and that is because the individual has to make a personal effort, but many of us just assume that it is sufficient to get carried along or sustained by the group, whearas when circumstances (and thoughts) get really difficult, such group sustainance, fails to prove sufficient. It is what is IN you which matters at those times, not necessarily what is AROUND you.

Cheers smiley

Ummm. . .  I'll see if I can work on this.  t'was really helpful.  Thanks.

What actually would you say was missing here? How could you explicate for us how what you affirmed to be "GENUINE" suddenly "doesn't make sense anymore"?

Perhaps, what he really meant there was, "everything seemed genuine".  I strongly disagree with those who think he was being hypocritical in his religiosity before now.  As I always say, people change, mentalities change, afterall, CHANGE itself is the only constant thing in life.

Just look at that third goal, even amidst a tight defence, the guy still managed to blaze in a nice shot.  I hope Nigeria learns from this.

Breaking News!!!

* Berti Vogts angrily walks out of the press conference when asked why he put Makinwa in the game. His words, "I decide who plays in the team and who doesn't; nobody should question my authority!"

* Mikel Obi and Obafemi martins exchange blows shocked. The brawl was said to have been instigated by Mikel who accused the "older players" of not playing with committment. Mikel had previously been quoted thus, "I am ready to die for Nigeria."

Sports / Re: Nigeria Vs Cote D'ivoire by goodguy(m): 8:10pm On Jan 21, 2008
The eagles played well towards the end of the first half and at the beginning of the 2nd half, but after CIV scored, they became somewhat demoralized.  I was almost dazing those guys thru the TV screeen when they were playing so sluggishly in the box 18, passing balls like they tied rope to their legs.  This was at a time we needed a goal the most, but they fumbled.  One major problem I think we have is the lack of pace.  Apart from Martins who wasn't really getting the balls, no one else has the pace required to beat the Ivorian defence, and so we were solely relying on our dribbling skills (which was quite pathetic by the way) and were busy 'over-defending'.  Kalou's goal was a very wonderful goal I must admit though.

What I still don't understand is why Berti Vogts will make Kanu start the game, knowing fully well that he's our super sub.  If anyone remembers clearly, this was the same bloody mistake the then coach made in 2006 against this same Cote D'Ivoire!!

By the way, Mr. Chairman Sir. . .

What are the things you promised the people during your campaign?  Start executing them NOW!  You are closer to the people, so you should know what they need.  You don't expect those of us far away from your environs, or even those in the diaspora to be telling you how to lead your own people.  Find out whatever is lacking in the region and fix it, the most serious or important of all, being your priority.  Wait sef. . . so you mean you didn't even have any idea of what you were going to be doing before contesting for the seat?  Oh lawdy lawd!
