@ThiefofHearts, Perhaps, if you had taken your time to read the remaining part of my post, you would have understood my point better. Your manner of reponse only goes to show that you paid very little or no attention to the other parts, but the first paragraph. I already stated earlier that marriage is not something you can just walk out of like that, especially if it's over something you can amend. No matter how bad a man is, he must have some good sides too. These good parts are what you should consider. If your husband beats you once, twice or thrice, you should try helping him overcome this monstrous attitude of his (when his sanity returns, of course). If you'll be so quick to leave your husband simply because he beat you once or twice, even though you have not tried helping matters yourself, then you never really loved him in the first place. Your desertion only becomes totally justifiable after several failed attempts. This was why I cited Coco's story as a perfect explanation to my point. I myself, do not support beating women. There are several ways of dealing with a woman without being physical. |
Radiant, I really do not know your stance here. At some point, you implied that if your husband hits you just once, you'll leave (this is the one I was addressing in my post "full of shit" up there). At another, you imply that it is only continuous battering that you cannot condone. Which is it really? |
exu:No, we are clinging on to what we know; what we realized by ourselves - The Truth. exu:Unfortunately, this issue didn't fall into any part of our peaceful argument. exu:What do you mean? |
ThiefOfHearts:If I am not mistaken, the part of Christino's post to which you gave this reply was asking if you would leave your husband's house just like that, despite the fact that you have kids for him already. If you truly understand this and you're still bent on clinging on to this mentality of yours, I must confess, I am really sorry for you. Obviously, you do not care what effect this will have on the children. Until you get married, you will never understand certain things about marital life. Its obvious majority of you ladies only base your thoughts on what you have seen or experienced from boyfriend/girlfriend relationships. You base your thoughts only on your present circumstances. But I will keep saying this over and over again: Marriage is different! It is a union which is meant to last forever (Note the keyword there: "union" . When you get married, you're kind of living another kind of life entirely. When something goes wrong in a marriage, it is your duty as a spouse to strive in order to make things right. You shouldn't desert it over something you know you can easily amend. Even if it's not easily amendable, at least, you can still do something about it. But no; you would rather leave your husband and deprive your children of the impact their biological father would have had in their lives (if you'll be taking them along), just to show/prove that you are an "independent strong woman who is living in the 21st century and won't take sh*t from any man".Anyway, just as Christino said, I also trust you ladies are presently truly speaking your mind -- based on how you presently feel. But I tell you, it will be another kind of feeling by the time you'll be living a marital life. By then, I hope Nairaland will still be in existence so that you and your likes may share some real marital life issues with us here. I'll be waiting too. ![]() |
Christino, you've spoken perfectly well. Now let me end that post of yours with this quote: "A man should never hit a lady. However, the moment a lady raises her tiny fingers to hit a man, she loses her right to be treated like a lady." - Seun Osewa. |
All we asked for were proofs. No one of you "the accusers" could provide that. So I had every reaon to jump into conclusions. Seun did the right thing by deleting that thread. I would have done the same if I was the admin. |
Eurphoria:Lol. I was just about to post that that thread was going to be deleted. Alas, it was already gone! ![]() And really, you didn't have to call me "dumb". I respect you on this forum and wasn't expecting such from you. Back to the topic now. . . ![]() |
I have been following this thread closely since it's inception, but never wanted to post. But when I saw this last post of Havila, I couldn't but comment on it. Havila, thanks for that post. Very perfect analogies there, especially that of the 3 states of water. I was actually engaged in an argument with two muslim ladies at work today on this same subject. They were even laughing at me for telling them Jesus is God, even after explaining thoroughly Gen 1:27, John 1: 1 - 5 and John 10:30 to them, and some other verses too, they were still bent on clinging on to what they've been told in their mosques. I wasn't surprised anyway. |
Whether you're admitted or not, regardless of your course of study, you'll know when you buy the card. And as for the card, it should get to the banks after boxing day, hopefully. |
I'm only responding to the question you asked me on the previous page. BTW, talking of not buying any excuses. . . how about a wife who's being rude/wicked to her mother-in-law in the husband's absence for no just cause? I certainly won't buy this theory of yours if I get to find out. She's gonn@ be really sorry. I know. . this is a different issue. ![]() |
Of course, Jesus wasn't born on December 25. Even my unborn baby (that'll be coming into this world in a couple of years) knows that! ![]() |
For once, I totally agree with Donzman here. ![]() @Radiant, if a man is naturally caring and loving, but occasionally abusive, it wouldn't be a totally wise thing for the woman to walk out of the relationship just like that. This is where the issue of Love now comes in. The woman should at least try to make him a non-violent person. Violence is not an in-born thing. It can be wiped out, just like most other ills. That's what makes marriage different. But then, if it gets out of hand, and all efforts prove abortive, it wouldn't be a totally wise thing for the woman to remain in the relationship either. Because if she dies in the process, God will not pat on the back, smile and tell her "Weldone, my daughter". Coco's story is a perfect example to explain my point better. |
Theodora:That's because you've always been involved in casual relationships. As Mystique said, marriage is quite different, and you can't just walk out like that. |
Jesus was born on September 29. Accept that or simply kiss your sorry @$$. ![]() |
Can you kindly shut the f^%k up, Sir? ![]() |
Try the other half then. Good luck! |
Jesus was born on the 29th of September. I have no facts to prove that. I just know it. ![]() |

ToH, that's an old story. Not that old anyway. |
Yes. I gave her 3 beautiful hot slaps. I wouldn't have given her the remaining two slaps if she hadn't held on to my cloth and squeezing it. God knows I hate it when a lady does that to me. That happened some years back though, when I still quite young, and quite mean. She has refused to talk to me ever since. Though lately, I noticed she has been staring at me unusually, like one who's willing to talk, but doesn't know how. The funny part is that till today, I can't remember what caused the fight. One thing I know for sure, however, is that I never initiated it. God knows I never initiate fights. ![]() Don't worry folks, I'm a good guy now. ![]() |
Donzman, is that the only international website where these people's names are listed? Too bad. ![]() |
Just did, happy now? ![]() |
Donzman:Perhaps, if you start to list the International achievements of your own nominees, we can then begin to compare. For now, these couples remain incomparable to the guys you listed up there. |
