Arrghhh!!! ![]() |
You can combine the two, it only depends on the school! ![]() |
You just said it. ![]() |
nferyn:And how do you explain it when two or more people experience the same thing under totally different conditions? |
michelin89:You seem to be mistaking "bond" for "bondage". The type of bond one has with God is the type that can actually give you all the liberty you could ever wish for. If you cannot understand this, then I'm sorry. michelin89:It's a personal conviction. You don't expect me to narrate my life experiences here, do you? michelin89:Your stance here is rather amusing, I must say. You do not understand the concept of faith, yet you seem to be very definitive in your appraoch towards it. Very ludicrous, indeed! michelin89:If I think this way, I won't have to depend on my faith in the first place. michelin89:I'm not exactly sure where/when God made this statement. But then, in what way do you think God would rather we help ourselves first? Is not by coming to him first before any other thing? michelin89:If I don't have a strong faith, this idea may probably be ideal for me. michelin89:On the contrary, the reverse is the case. michelin89:If it does you good, you will definitely feel it, hence, it's existence. But then, will the physical knowledge of it really matter? BTW, I wonder why you want the "something" to be exclusively yours. That's really weird. michelin89:I agree with you. michelin89:Only someone who lives a shady lifestyle will subject himself to such constant pressure. A true believer doesn't need to bother since he knows his place is secured in heaven. So I still don't see how his autonomy is restricted. michelin89:Those who don't believe what? |
michelin89:It all depends on what kind of bond you're talking about, and how you define it. Some bonds can actually give you all the liberty you could ever wish for. michelin89:Why would I want to doubt the operating of the God I serve when I'm convinced He's always right? michelin89:Those "guiding rules" are to better their lives. I can understand if you say they're deprived of going astray. That, on its own, is a man's autonomy. You can't blame religion on that, can you? michelin89:If their faith counters any scientific approach to their health, I don't see that as a risk. For example, if I have an headache and I decide to pray, while having a very strong faith in that prayer, telling me I'm taking a risk by not taking drugs will definitely sound stupid in my ears. michelin89:If the "something" will positively affect your life, I see no reason why you should not bound yourself to it. |
So many contradicting replies here. You people will definitely get a foreigner confused! Anyway, all I can say is, it depends on the university and the course you're applying for. In UI for example, you can combine for some courses, but definitely not courses like Medicine. As for OAU, I know someone who chose Medicine, combined and the results were accepted, so I guess it's acceptable there. So it all boils down to the individual schools, but as someone said, it's only a matter of time before all schools start accepting combination of results. @thread starter, I'll advise you seek information from the school you're applying to. |
buda atum, are you agnostic? You sound like one who is. |
harvey:What's hard to believe in a 16 yr old pregnating a girl? Have you forgotten Charly Boy became a father at the age of 14? |
edygirl:Exact question Seun asked. ![]() |
She pleaded "Not guilty". |
And what does that mean? ![]() |
Non-theists, I guess. ![]() |
I read on paper that she's to be tried today. I wish her the best! |
Sales begin Nov. 30. |
I heard someone predicted early this year that there will 5 plane crashes in this year. How many have we had so far? ![]() |
Later, you people will start complaining that Seun banned you. See what you've turned this thread into. |
I do not suscribe to majority of Flew's theories and views. I only wanted you guys to concentrate more on why he stopped being an atheist. |
At those who say there's no God, read about Antony Flew. |
Enugu, are you a theistic evolutionist? |
Damsal:What if he's not sure you'll tell the truth. ![]() mrmayor:Here in Nigeria, most people call from call centers (business centers) when they're low on credit, and most operators of such call centers usually hide the numbers of all telephones used in their place. Who knows, the person calling from there may have something important for you. Moreso, it may not be easy telling whether one is disguising his/her voice or not. |
Please tell us the secrets. |
There is a God. Remember, not all that seems rational is right; and not all that seems irrational is wrong. Charles Darwin came with a very rational approach. But does that make him right? The Bible came with what seems irrational to most people. But does that make it wrong? Don't be deceived, don't be fooled. You have a mind of your own. Think. Think deeply. You've done that several times? Well, just do it again, with a genuinely inquiring mind, and you'll come to the realisation of the truth. God exists. |
What do you guys think about his new book? Do you guys think he's now indirectly admitting his guilt? |
I wonder why he wrote the book. How does he expect the children him and is late ex-wife had together to feel? It's more like shedding more light to the actual way their mother was killed. That doesn't make sense. Why bring back past bad memories? Me thinks he's just doing this for his own selfish reasons. He knows more than half the population of the US will get the book, not to talk about the rest of the world, and he'll make big bucks from it. Or perhaps, it's really an admission of guilt (now that he's getting old), as opposed to the hypothetical confession the book is said to contain. Anyway, I'll love to get the book. They say it'll be on sale as from November 30. Let's keep our fingers crossed and watch how this drama unfolds. |
