Was it not Makinde that had a rally in the middle of korokorovirus? SQLmastar:Dis man. You have to take it out of my mouth? |
Why is it that when you guys want to go into politics that you remember your people? You used the same people to call yourselves militants, activists and leaders. After collecting money, positions and leadership, you left the same people worse off than you met them. They still cannot even go back to their traditional trade and work because their environment is so polluted, nothing can survive there. Ijaw, their neighbors and people of Goodwill must come together to save their land from opportunists. |
Chloroquine? You can be sure that Nigerian scientists already know about this study and must have implemented it in their private practice. The question is why it is not widely published. It could be out of caution because we do not want to be ridiculed again. Prof. Iwu published some of these cures and another one came out of UniBen about cure for AIDS. Only to be shut down by professional colleagues that could not replicate them. We have brilliant scientists in Africa but they hide their discoveries for private practice. Remember, we already face skepticism from the scientific world as Africans. |
BrutalJab:Let me stop right there. Increase your pomposity value in the eyes of naive folks but please do not do it for all. United States and Canada have the highest number of years in training because you have to have first degree to go into medical school, not in Nigeria not in Britain. You may be referring to days when university strikes were common. This is the type of reasoning that makes new medical graduates think "Nigerian doctors are in demand all over the world". Another lie. |

BrutalJab, Remind me please. Which university in Nigeria did you spend 8…10 years in? |
No matter how informed or educated we are, sickness changes our way of thinking. Imagine well qualified medical professor in the USA looking for treatment in Mexico or anywhere. Desperation. Kidney failure at certain stage is not reversible. Cases of poisoning that shut the kidney down is different, especially in young people. Many have recovered after dialysis. In your friend's case, as indicated above, he will have to pay for dialysis for the rest of his life. There are portable dialysis machines these days but I am not sure if it is available in any of the teaching hospitals. Please do not discuss transplant with anyone except at one of the Teaching Hospitals. I wish I could be more helpful. |
See what prayers can do? China reported no infection for the day and most of the temporary hospitals built for Coronavirus are out of business. Say Hallelujah! The Chinese are Atheists. They bring this back every week to rough feathers. Ignore those crying for attention. |
Habeeblah69:Look at you! What is Government house, not peoples house? So what do you think God house is, not peoples house, abi na only business centers? People of God are very compassionate. If the Government does not ask them sharp sharp before Coronavirus bite hard, they would be glad to turn them over. They should not be wasted. |
GamalNasser:Join us my brother. Some people call us dreamers. Why do you think they are worshipping white and brown skins to deliver us while at the same time looking for foreign investor partners to launder money |
GamalNasser:You see! Your warriors would rather kiss the feet of Buhari as usual (Buhari/Okadigbo ticket) than smell the person you mentioned in that position. I know you do not have an idea what you're writing about. You may be more innocent than I thought. People like you, they label Ndi Ara ![]() |
In preparation for Coronavirus casualties, we cannot leaves those Churches and Mosques empty and not used. We are going to need Coronavirus specialist hospitals now and in future, places for patients convanlence centers, food distribution centers to cater for them, schools and homeless shelters. The people of God would be willing to go along and do good for humanity. They will be returned sharp sharp after recovery from Ebola, sorry I mean Coronavirus. |
GamalNasser:Joker, you and what Army? I do not think you know who the Vice-president is. Please do not alienate your warriors o! |
GamalNasser:How do you achieve that? Many of you turn off people who agree with you on Buhari. You know very well that the same person that got more votes from the North to the South squandered the Goodwill and single handedly elected Buhari more than anyone else. You know what, plan another coup. |
Was that a fact or not. If you're so ignorant and blinded by bias, go brush up your history or text books. Is this the same Buhari/Idiagbon? Some people just write without thinking. TylerDurden: |
What other evidence do you need to demonstrate that most religious leaders put their members on religious Opium. Bunch of drug dealers. |

Potential Pipeline Medications May Help Patients with Novel Coronavirus 2020-03-11 22:08:00 Marilyn Bulloch, PharmD, BCPS, FCCM It is important to note that there are currently no FDA-approved or even recommended agents for the treatment of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), for which the World Health Organization (WHO) declared as pandemic on Wednesday. Any agent being used at this time is being administered in an experimental setting under controlled conditions. However, one of the fears of this virus is that there is no currently known treatment for it, and often it is the pharmacist that people look to first for information about medication developments. In February 2020, the WHO published an overview of the potential therapeutic candidates for the treatment of COVID-19.1,2 The 36-page document outlines 76 regimens that have been proposed (as of February 17, 2020) for the treatment of patients infected with the virus. Thirty-eight of these candidates are in the preclinical state with minimal information available on their proposed mechanism, uses, doses routes, or planned trials. Sixteen of the remaining regimens contain an interferon-based product. The rest include a variety of antimicrobials, corticosteroids, convalescent plasma, and biologics. Clinical trials of several other products not listed in the WHO document have been posted to ClinicalTrials.gov, and the Chinese government has released several versions of guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of the virus that includes specific medication recommendations.2 Some of the candidates are approved by the FDA for other indications, but the majority of the agents are not currently commercially available in the United States for therapeutic use. Remdesivir The agent that has received the most attention in the media is remdesivir, a nucleoside inhibitor also known as GS-5734. The monophosphoramidate prodrug has potent activity against several families of RNA viruses.1,3-4 Originally under development for Ebola, remdesivir incorporates into nascent viral RNA chains, and causes premature termination.3 Animal studies revealed that it reduces the viral load of lung tissue in Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS).2 A recently published in vitro study showed that remdesivir had potent antiviral activity against COVID-19 in a human cell line.3 One case reported encouraging results from its use in a patient with COVID-19 in the US.4 A phase 2, multicenter, placebo controlled, international study is currently recruiting adult patients.5 Four of the study sites are located within the United States. Patients randomized to remdesivir will receive 200 mg IV on day 1, and then 100 mg IV once daily for the duration of their hospitalization, up to 10 days total. The study is not scheduled to conclude until 2023; unless the independent data and safety monitoring board identifies a significant difference in clinical outcomes, a full evaluation of the data may not be available for several years. Two phase 3 studies intended to begin in March are set to conclude in May 2020.2,6-7 Both studies have similar designs and will compare remdesivir 200 mg IV loading dose followed by 100 mg IV daily to standard of care therapy. Both studies have 5-day and 10-day treatment durations that are being evaluated. Additionally, the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command is operating an expanded access program.8 It is hoped that from these studies, the health care community will have evidence on the safety and efficacy of remdesivir within months rather than years. At this time, evaluation of an oral version of remdesivir has not been proposed and it is unknown if this antiviral would be useful for patients whose symptoms are not severe enough to warrant hospitalization. Hydroxychloroquine Another agent that appears to have gained traction in evaluation for COVID-19 is hydroxychloroquine, or chloroquine. The heme polymerase inhibitor that is currently used to treat a variety of conditions that include malaria, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis is being evaluated to determine if its use in COVID-19 leads to improved virological clearance and mortality. The same in vitro study that stated remdesivir’s antiviral activity also showed chloroquine potent activity versus COVID-19 in human cells.3 It appears to block viral infection by increasing endosomal pH needed for virus/cell fusion, and interferes with the glycosylation of virus cellular receptors. The drug also has immune-modulating activity which is proposed to enhance its antiviral effect in vivo.3 A Chinese clinical study evaluating 5 daily doses of 400 mg in adults who developed pneumonia from the viral infection is scheduled to conclude in the latter half of 2020. The study is sponsored by the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center, and it is unknown how long after study conclusion the information may be shared with other stakeholders. A large ongoing study is comparing hydroxychloroquine’s clinical outcomes to carrimycin, lopinavir/ritonavir, and umifenovir, but the study is not anticipated to conclude before February 2021. The most recent Chinese guidelines on COVID-19 recommend chloroquine phosphate 500 mg twice a day for up to 10 days.2 Given that hydroxychloroquine is already available in the US, comes in oral dosage forms, has a known safety profile, and is relatively inexpensive (compared to newer agents), it would not be as difficult to utilize this product as some of the other candidates, should the results of any studies confirm the findings of the in vitro study in a patient care setting. However, it is precisely because it is so readily available that it is important to note that until official recommendations are made, any use of hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19 should only occur in the investigational setting. https://www.pharmacytimes.com/news/potential-pipeline-medications-for-the-coronavirus |
I have already answered these on another thread: Strength by googi: 7:42pm On Mar 16https://www.nairaland.com/5737205/unless-nigerians-go-back-individual Yemefe! |
You just revealed yourself. No point arguing with you. Awo remains the best that ever happened to Nigeria for most of us from the former Western Region that Included some parts of South-south. TylerDurden: |
I hate to argue the details with you because you are basically right but Awolowo did not introduce bitterness into politics. How can you say that about a man that threatened the status quo by establishing Opposition Party in the North and East based on grassroots campaigns? Who else did ever since? Save your bias for Awo to yourself, biko. TylerDurden: |
Surprise, surprise, surprised! What did they do during the time of Ebola? Any difference? Yet one of them claimed Nigerian trained doctors are sought all over the world. Right, to drive cabs? God bless those doctors that left everything and came home. |
I agree with those who think traditional leaders should feign their loyalty to political leaders. After all, they are people too with empathy for politics. They should always position themselves as neutral so that all political parties can pay homage to them. Oba Sikiru Adetona is a case in point. As for Oba Adeyemi and Awolowo, where are those who think one Oba Adeyemi had a role in the whooping cough (Pertussis) of Bode Thomas. Did he have a role in poisoning Bode Thomas, which people thought was some supernatural power. Apparently, the supernatural power could not touch Awo. If any Oba is found guilty of murder, he faces calabash i.e death. |
Elimon:We know more today than any simplistic answer he could have given then. But you answer that question better in your earlier post: that think the West has everything to offer |
Sir, UNN was established as you tightly pointed out in 1955. It did not OPEN until Azikiwe become the Governor General in 1960. Please note that I did not mention St. Andrews College Oyo at the end of 1800 that OPENED early 1900. Some of the earliest students also came from the East. |
Things started going wrong in the West when Awolowo moved to Lagos thinking he could do for Nigeria what he did for the West. The height of his success came when Action Group he led became the official Opposition in the North and the East by campaigning for Free Education and Free Healthcare. However, Awo was not a politician. Politician do not tell you upfront why they want your votes. Chief S. L. A (Akintola) warned him where to pitch his tent. He insisted on working with Zik of Africa. After all, both of them understood the struggle for Independence under Herbert Macauley than anyone else. The Election of 1959/60 for Independence could have kept Nigeria on course as a Regional Power with Azikiwe as Executive Prime Minister and then retained a clause to opt out of Nigeria if any Region so desired. Azikiwe rejected both from Awo. Rightly or wrongly today based on the fact that he did not want to isolate the North. They have been working with the North since. Akintola was right Guess who do not want Yoruba to work with the North lately? Nevertheless, the West remained the power House of the Country attractive to all Africans. Some other Yoruba became suspicious like SLA. Whenever some of the people from the East were offered jobs and promoted based on MERIT by Yoruba employers or Oga, all their hires become Igbo. Even recently, Yoruba landlords were renting to Igbo out of greed because they were willing to pay whatever was demanded for as long as five years! However, it would be their last rent. So when Igbo tenants started complaining of discrimination in Lagos and some parts of the West, they were right! Until Nigerians return to hard work, honesty, accommodation and tolerance throughout the Country, not only in the West; the Country will not only break, our next generation will perish! If anything, the West stands a better. chance of going back to its Western Region days when meagre earnings from Cocoa and ingenuity created the First In Africa. There is no greater curse on Nigeria than Oil Money that destroyed the livelihood of farmers and fishermen. Enough insults about Yoruba did or did not do this on their own LAND. |
Now, if you're talking about business creation and success, no ethnic group in the world after the shackles of slavery was defeated by Independence led in Africa by Nkrumah and put in process by Herbert Macauley in Nigeria, can compete with Yoruba. Before Independence, there was only one University in Nigeria and a few Teachers training schools, most of which were located in the West where demand was overwhelming. It was not by accident that Ibadan, contrary to the false assumption of many people, became the major Educational, Industrial and Housing estates in Nigeria. Sorry, Lagos was an extension of Western Region's growth. Unknown to many strangers in Lagos, they are living in what was Western Region. The reason for Western growth is easy to understand unless you just want to be fictitious for the heck of it. Most of the first professionals and skilled men were Yoruba and were hungry for education to train their children. So the Christian and Muslim Missions had no choice but to meet their needs. It was not enough. Nigerians started Government schools all over the Country led by the West. My friends that was the attraction to the West, not Seaport not Oil money and not intolerance. Nigeria Youth Movement was formed by Herbert Macauley that has never got the honor and respect he deserves. This man represented OLUWA the TIJANI family all the way to the highest Court in London, to rescue Lagos LAND from the British. If the British failed under domination, who can claim Lagos? Even that little piece of Land called Oko Awori where peppers and live fish were traded by children of Ogunfunminire had few strangers except those from the West. Fortunately, some historians still keep the population document of little Oko Ata now called Eko or Lagos. It shows that apart from the founders, most of the migrants came from the West and some others from other parts. The attraction was jobs, jobs, jobs. The employers were Yoruba business men and women employing anyone that wanted a job regardless of where they came from in Africa. Indeed, it has always been what is called melting pot until today. Even today, they are still urging their children to Go West Young Man Go West! It was never a right, it was tolerance and accommodation. There is a difference between business men or women and the petty traders that HELPED them extend their goods and services at retail levels. These generosity, accommodation and tolerance can only be found in the West up to Today today! Imagine if we have these in every part of the Country. |
Sorry, I don't know how I missed this important comment. My friend, be careful. If you mention the S word in Nigeria, all your friends, voters and families will disappear. I still remember as a student arguing with a professor that Africans by culture are Socialists. He told me then that if every country in Africa turned Socialist, Nigeria and Kenya would not. by Elimon(m): 7:59pm On Mar 14 |
Before discussing the change, keep in mind that this was before oil income. The Nigerian Youths were all United under Herbert Macauley fighting for Independence. A little disaffection started because Azikiwe supported Samuel Akinsanya as leader, Awolowo supported Earnest Ikoli an Ijaw as leader. Since then, Awo and Zik had their differences. When Azikiwe succeeded Macauley as the Leader of Yoruba dominated NCNC, the Party won Lagos City Council. Indeed, Yoruba sent Azikiwe to Ibadan as leader but fell far short of Action Group and other parties to form the Government in Ibadan under Awo. It is very important to note that this tolerance and accommodation of others within Yoruba have never been repeated anywhere else throughout the Country up to the present Day. If anything, the tolerance has been claimed as rights never afforded Yoruba anywhere in the Federal. You can imagine what Country we would have been today if Yoruba accommodation were shared in the North and the East. Instead, it was ridiculed. This is the basis of where the anger of Yoruba Youths comes from |
