If you do not want to be insulted, avoid discussion on internet. But if you feel strongly about others, especially those misled every day on social media, roll with the insults. Look at the statement below in view of the hot debate of Bernie Sanders fighting for health care as a right and the richest country in the world claiming they cannot afford it while spending more money per capita than less prosperous countries. How does a reasonable person argue with the comment below? otipoju: |
Elderly, they are safer in Nigeria than Southern United States and Italy. |
justnock:Don't mind Hustler. He is a spoiled brat from the most fortunate country in the world where anything you throw on the ground grows. But we throw money and talents away and called Cuba a "third world". First world Country appreciate the contributions of Cuba. United States campaign appreciate Cuba lifting poor people up. But a medic wanted license where he qualified and could not practice as a medic. What has that got to do with Cuba? Poor Nigerians. Open your eyes to opportunities in a Country that used to feed West Africa and was respected as a potential Regional Power. |
It might be too late to run home but thank God Nigerians have a place to call home. otipoju:What you do not understand is that even in the so called civilized countries like United States, healthcare is not a right except in some North Eastern states. Many people die without health care. Even when Obamacare was introduced free for some years, some states rejected it. Old people die in Italy because young people get preference in view of Coronavirus. Their children cry as they watch their parents die like dogs. So, who are you migrants? |
Fidel Castro: leader proves as divisive in death as he was in life Perhaps even more vaunted are claims about the standard of Cuba’s healthcare. The island’s reputation for medical excellence – a boon long enjoyed by allied governments and countries struck by natural disaster and medical emergencies – was most recently boosted by the deployment of Cuban medical staff to parts of west Africa during the Ebola crisis. In October 2014, 15,000 medical workers volunteered to participate in the relief effort. More than 450 specially trained Cuban doctors and nurses arrived in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone to combat the disease, making them the largest single national medical force https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/world/2016/nov/27/castros-legacy-and-the-envy-of-many-nations-social-care-in-cuba |
Kampack, Common sense is not common. Whatever our line of work, Nigeria and contributions to it in our most productive years must be the goal. We should not confuse respect for humanitarian services anywhere with opportunity as license to stay put. I admire you for coming home for whatever reason. You can go back after making a difference we can all be proud of. The only frustration is, for every step we take forward, others will take us back two steps. At least we can point to something. I hope you are still young at heart, Thanks. |
Hustler where is the sarcasm after explaining yourself pointing to your real motive? Until we point to our accomplishments at home, nobody and nowhere will respect us. Cuba has accomplishments to point to and welcomed during most disaster because they are not about laundering talents for money. Their education is first class and envy of the world even in the so called Developed countries Did you hear the point made about Cuba by Sanders in the US Presidential campaign? Nigeria has one of the most talented people on Earth but we are always for sale. You cannot prostitute yourself for foreign currencies and expect them to respect you. Thanks for explaining your motive. Cheers! Kampack: |
Kampack:Chei, See Africa Brain. Calculating how he go get visa, squander talent for hard currencies. Naija nor dey come last. |
We need every provable soap and Ogogoro that works. We have plenty plenty Ose Dudu to wash our hands. |
RandomVic:I know you mean Nigerian doctors, engineers, accountants and anything that can fetch hard currencies for "Investments" outside. In my next life God please make me a Nigerian O! |
Citytrend:No Sir, Nigeria is endowed with Oil Money and Talents. Never mention Nigeria and Poor together. We squander them as International Foreign Aid Donor. Reuters SUN MAR 22, 2020 / 10:33 AM EDT Cuban doctors head to Italy battle coronavirus Nelson Acosta HAVANA (Reuters) - Communist-run Cuba said it dispatched a brigade of doctors and nurses to Italy for the first time this weekend to help in the fight against the novel coronavirus at the request of the worst-affected region Lombardy. The Caribbean island has sent its "armies of white robes" to disaster sites around the world largely in poor countries since its 1959 revolution. Its doctors were in the front lines in the fight against cholera in Haiti and against ebola in West Africa in the 2010s. https://www.google.com/amp/s/mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKBN219051 |
Little poor "impoverished" CUBA sent doctors to the worst hit area in Italy. There used to be a Potential Regional Power called NIGERIA. |
Obioma will always be remembered like Drs. Adadevor and the survivor Dr. Ada |
Thank you TD, We take history for granted these days and we are paying a heavy price. Parents and their children cannot even communicate anymore except in foreign language. And they pride themselves into special class. Ignoramus. |
First, work hard to improve and develop your own communities and stop looking for prepared food to eat (Olorunsogo). If you respect yourselves and demonstrate progress where you come from, (Surulere) you will attract others back into your community. If you have to leave your community, be good and humble. If you can make it there, thank God and your hosts like immigrants in America. Nobody Respect Blacks anywhere because they have no points of REFERENCE in Africa others can be proud of. |
Elderly has been bombarded with variety of solutions and precautions for Coronavirus. What can YOU do for yourself? The simple thing to watch out for is your nose and mouth apart from washing your hands to prevent infection to all parts of your face. Brushing your mouth two or three times a day after every meal is one of the preventions. Dentists have been warning us for years regarding the "fights" between the cause of ulcers - bacteria or virus. Keeping your throat moist with water by sipping it continually and if you feel any irritation, gurgle with salt water or bitter leaves water, ginger water or lemon water continually. Simple daily habits that will cost you money you do not have, friends and families trying to take care of themselves or drugs that may interact with prescriptions can be imposing. Remember, even Italians have to make a choice between Elderly and young people. Take care of yourself, do not wait until others struggling to take care of themselves, have the time for you. |
My friend, Nigeria is on its way to Zimbabwe and Venezuela. You put it very well. My problem is why Nigerians cannot put these together and realize that it equals DEVALUATION! There is no difference between printing money, Oil Money and Devaluation. What were we selling when Nigerian Pound equals British Pound? We were feeding the whole of West Africa. There were RESTRICTIONS on imports. You could only leave Nigeria with One Hundred Pounds after the War. So how could you import new, old, used and junk goods? If you buy Hausa carvings, slippers: Igbo carvings, palm oil or Yoruba Omolagidi or Aso Oke and take it with you to England and America. Better still, Okrika and Ijebu made. Boy oh boy, you were in money. MansoryMX: |
Dr. Ada Igonoh survived Ebola and Sawyer but Nurse Justina Ejelonu and Dr. Ameyo Adadevor passed. Does anyone know more about Dr. Ada Igonoh? |
It is one thing to move to countries that are Coronavirus Free if they are stupid enough to let you in. Since all of them are sh*tholes countries, do not come to Nigeria claiming Lagos has better management like Ebola as Sawyer's wife claimed. Does that wake up Nurse Justina Ejelonu and Dr. Ameyo from the dead? |
See how quickly the world has changed. So, When I was in London, New York and Paris is no longer fashionable? I thought a guy said destination to: CMS 6 a.m Wuhan 9 a.m Rome 11 a.m Tripoli Desert I p.m Abuja Festival 2 p.m |
No matter how, this lady deserves credit and whoever wants to celebrate her can do so. But do not forget that the team that treated the Italian and save his life, they must be celebrated too. We lost the first patient Sawyer, Dr. Ameyo Adadevor and Nurse Justina Ejelonu. Please let us celebrate the Team, they are not DEAD |
Give honor to who it is due. Do you know how many honors have been snatched from Africans and African/Americans? Nothing like home. |
Please big hotels must be added to the Churches and Mosques that must be turned into Coronavirus hospitals. Still thinking of humongous houses looters do not use. |
This discussion is scary. A woman in a voluntary relationship with a man even without children should have some protection. This is the basis of common law relationship. If you think a woman is not covered because this is Nigeria, you have not seen assertive lady. But it goes both ways, a poor man will fight you for his "Investment" with you. The whole discussion is a warning to ladies because they always get the tiny end of the stick. |
Check the mirror untrained ingrate. BrutalJab: |
Olexjay, I completely agree with you here and I used the example of physician that cannot pay his rent or put food on the table. The solution right now is not more of the same dependency on foreign exposure. I regret that I and many others left Africa thinking our salvation would come from exposure. There is nothing wrong with exposure and collaboration with foreign minds but it must be done with us putting our own God-given creativities and talents on the table to work for us locally. How can a professor be teaching me what I failed to take advantage of in my own Continent? Herbert Macauley, Nkrumah, Ikoli, Zik and Awo studied abroad and saw the Hypocrisy of those who only see us as economic tools to make money. Our grandfathers fought in WW1and WW2 to liberate Europe but not Africa. The solution right now that will benefit us is to deescalate our foreign dependency and rely on whatever meagre income we can generate and live within our means. Our salary structure needs to change to emphasize needed skill trades like those we copy overseas. We are borrowing upon borrowing to pay salaries we cannot afford, neglect simple infrastructure like water, solar energy and agriculture we can start with locally to be self sufficient. Even when we produce more rice, it became more expensive than Foriegn Rice. My brother, there is something you and I know is wrong. How long are we going to postpone solutions? |
I was afraid this is going to happen. More worried about elderly already on many other medications, not consulting their pharmacist, nurse, Physician, Community Health Officer or anyone before taking additional drugs. |
While I understand your frustration, we still have some of the most brilliant medical and social scientists in the world but they are not well managed because our value system is warped. Every one is after money and the easiest way to it are politics and other nefarious activities. During Ebola crisis, Nigeria Minister of Health Onyebuchi Chukwu decided to pursue NanoSilver. The President of Nigeria has Ph.D in Zoology. Do you expect our scientists to go back to their families and say: honey, I treated some patients for free today but I have no money for food and pay rent. But do each of us have to be highly educated as nuclear scientists to pay for food or rent? We have to change our attitude towards money and salaries. Scandinavian countries do not pay according to education. Russian space scientists are not the best paid. Anyone that went to school with Onyebuchi Chukwu would tell you he was one of the most brilliant professional any country can produce during Ebola. Yet, his colleagues in Lagos rejected his NanoSilver. The President, a highly educated man could have rejected it. But this is the game we play in Nigeria to survive. Nigeria, at least in the old Western Region had history of achievement on meagre income from Cocoa. Please stop talking about laboratories and equipment when you know we have the biggest laboratory in the whole world: our Rain Forest. This was where professors that taught us sciences overseas came every summer to Research. As for equipment. After 60 years we cannot produce Bursen Burner or Petro dish locally? Until we realize that the way to money and respect is not about how educated you are but what we can achieve with that education locally, our frustration will go on. Nigerians are the best, we only need to channel our God given talents locally. Nigeria is the best case to learn that money, without skilled managers is a curse. olexjay: |
BrutalJab:Look at this ingrate and potential talent Launderer. A cab is waiting for you to drive in Canada, security in USA and farms in Italy if you ever get any visa. Your professors that taught you in school that left comfortable homes and salaries to come back home and fight for your survival are fools, abi. Covid-19 is biting, you are on strike, Ebola was biting you were on strike. Yet, you come out and take credit. What is the difference between you and the money launderers? Wait, when Nigeria realize that you are being trained for foreign markets, they will go back to Prof. Olikoye Kuti days and train more Community Health Officers to meet the Country needs like all the countries you are running to. Including China, India and Russia of all places. Not to mention Physician Assistants in the Western world under who you take supervision as technicians. Let your colleagues keep enticing you into slavery. Ode. BTW, none of friends enticing you abroad told you bricklayers make more money than you in your wasted positions abroad? |
“We underestimated this disease. I keep on thinking: We could have done more to prevent Dad from getting sick,” she said. “I hope people in other countries don’t make our same mistakes. Lock your parents at home. Don’t let them out.” The small town of Castiglione D’Adda, in an area southeast of Milan where Italy’s epidemic started, has recorded more deaths in a matter of weeks than they did all of last year. Some 50 people have died so far this year in the town, which has a population of about 4,600 |
BrutalJab:I am a bricklayer. |
Ouch!! He forgot Lagos. Biafra without Lagos nah suicide be that. |
