Christianity EtcRe: Crossing Your Legs In Church, Is It Wrong? by Goshen360(m): 8:03pm On Jan 02, 2013
Image123: Are you blind? The OP said that she "OBVIOUSLY" knows that it is bad. She understands what she is doing, and is somehow of the opinion that it is a bad thing. Remember, i am not talking about sin here. Her church members think it is bad, she thinks it is bad, the right thing is for her to adjust. All this your gragra about where it is in the Bible is plain childish of you. Everyone has a (personal) relationship with God. David wasn't okay with doing something for God without it 'pinching' him, some people are okay. Some people prostrate to God as it were every morning, some don't. In the Op's context, they feel its wrong, leave them with that. If you like, you can walk naked to your own church without regard for others since it is God you want to go and see. Leave your own convictions to your self.
Abeg, stop this sentiment. I'm not talking my 'personal' thoughts here. Every truth must be established from the word, our constitution otherwise you are promoting a gospel such as everyone can do as they deem fit, if such is spread then we have no Lord over us. The same Christ is preached to all and is One Lord that reigns over all.

The op saying It's bad is obviously not very convinced and she asked, is it that bad. If she sees it completely bad, she probably not bring it up here. She is an adult and knows what's but is it that bad in the presence of God? Did God tell any of us such is bad?

JeSoul: Nah the one wey brother Image type I dey wonder...

Lol. Hey, you can start your own church tradition lol.

Right on in regards to the first part of your post. I agree.

Lemme ask you...do you think culture/tradition influenced certain portions of scripture? especially many of Paul's directions/commands in the NT?
I do not think culture/tradition influenced 'certain' portion of Apostle Paul's writing otherwise he will not be writing by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit but influenced by culture/tradition.

JeSoul: President Goshen. Suffrey suffrey. Nobody can establish from scripture either that eating amala is right or wrong...if you catch my drift wink
That's it right there! If nobody can establish eating amala is right or wrong, why do we make issues out of it? Why call it bad or wrong or good or whatever. My point is, as far as scripture is concern, such issues are irrelevant and we shouldn't tag it 'bad'.

Maybe next Sunday, I will try worship in with my shirt off..... grin
Christianity EtcRe: Crossing Your Legs In Church, Is It Wrong? by Goshen360(m): 6:45pm On Jan 02, 2013
Anti mi JeSoul, na Yoruba me type na.

@ Everyone,

Please, let's handle this issue with scriptural relevance otherwise, sentiment will play a major role. I haven't seen from scriptures where crossing legs in worship becomes an issue but I have read dafidi worship God n.aked but we are here talking ordinary crossing legs. Make una talk scripture abeg.

Image123: Ecc 7:16 Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?
Overzealous dey worri you. The christian life is not strictly pen and paper, black and white, by the letter. We are guided by the letter, but shouldn't let the letter kill us. Walk in the Spirit. All these where is it in the Bible principle, then even when shown in the Bible, you go start to give excuse. Here is what the OP said below.

Note the boldedS. It's not a question of SIN, or of Heaven or Hell. Some things can be wrong or bad, and not exactly be sin. Like i opined earlier, lateness is wrong(whether to school, work, appointment, church etc), wasting water is wrong, picking your nose in public is wrong, dirty habits are wrong. And you can be corrected for any of these anywhere. the fact that the correction was done in church doesn't demand a Bible verse. Where i live(Nigeria), crossing your legs is viewed as disrespect/pomposity/unseriousness. Even in school/class, its not done, they will tell you to put your legs down. If you're seating before your elders and you cross-leg, they will depict that you lack home training. It's a fail body posture in any interview room. It's considered lazy or arrogant. The OP said her dress is not short, i wonder why you are hammering on exposure. What the OP needs is self-control, a fruit of the Spirit. She should put her body under, and be more aware of her environment. She also needs love, another fruit of the Spirit, to take her church members and society for who they her, instead of playin "i don't see/know what is wrong with my actions". Not to forget meekness, another fruit of the Spirit, which would permit her to take simple instruction or correction without pouting and coming to NL to whine.
JeSoul, abadie? Happy New Year
Obviously you are not treating the core issue...and that is, how does crossing legs be a bad thing in the presence of God huh That is the issue you should be addressing sir.

cyrexx: Good. Let us reason together says the bible.

Let's go..

did you read where Goshen says those 4 books must be seen as under the old testament.

Some christians will disagree and say those books must be seen as under the old testament.

This, my friend is NOT a false dichotomy. This is conflicting intepretation and both sides will claim they have the best interporetation from the same bible.

but when catholics praise, honour and hail Mary, pentecostals and protestants say they are in error. Catholics also believe you are in error because you dont give due honour to Mary. Do you see what i mean?
And both sides claim the bible as their authority.

How about other points I listed. Let's see your take on them.
There is nothing conflicting therein. If me or anyone said it, it's the duty of every Christian to search the truth of every matter. The fact that Matthew to John were placed under the new does not make the content new. How can New Testament be established under the new, that is if Matthew to John is new huh There is a thread we trashed this out already. Go there and learn the truth.

Paul was quoting from something. Jude verse 14 says It was of these also that Enoch in the seventh generation from Adam prophesied, saying "Behold, the Lord came with his holy myriads,...... Now Mr. Pls show us where he quoted this from in your bible if your bible is complete
The fact that you keep saying "Paul quoted from book of Enoch" shows you don't know what you're talking about and you want us to engage in time wasting argument with you....as in seriously huh. See my time na $$$s e dey spill for me, not this kind of argument....... grin

FOLYKAZE: Anony! Paul quoted from the book of Enoch according to Jude verse 14. I think your 66 books have the book where Paul quote from
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100726133450AAkYxIq
Here is what I quoted from your link, not from the scriptures. Since you now advice Christians to follow issues not biblically established.... cheesy

Why is it disrespectful to cross your legs during a Catholic mass?

I was in church yesterday with my cousins that go to a private Catholic school, and after recieving Communion, I knelt and prayed when I got back to my seat, then, when I finished, I sat down and crossed my legs(out of habit - I don't usually sit with my legs straight), and my cousin pointed and said "don't do that!!!!" and I asked why.. He didn't tell me why...

Is there a particular reason?

In the Orthodox Church it is supposedly taboo and considered to be very disrespectful to cross your legs during mass, because it is too casual and too relaxed for being in church. For example, when you do sit in church, you should sit attentively, with your feet on the floor, ready to stand.

In our North American culture, while its not really taboo or a "rule" some people still see this as proper etiquette for mass and considered respectful.

So if it is not a biblical standard for instructions in the worship places, where make a law or an issue out of it. Whatever we cannot preach or teach anywhere, anytime is not the Gospel. I think a Christian sister can cross her legs if she knows she sits carelessly. This in itself is a way of preventing some kind of "exposure". Very soon, some worship places will start telling pregnant women not to sit down because they want to pray to God. Any pregnant woman can sit or stand up while praying IF she feel comfortable with it; there is no law against such. Let's not make too much out of leg crossing in worship places.

And you want us to spend our previous time arguing with you that you don't even understand the basis of your logical argument. Logicboy03: I dont bother with you because you cant argue logically. I asked a simple question that destroys your New Testament theory and you sidestepped it.
You can't argue with me because scriptures that I quoted already defeat your logic......You argue logically and I do also but it's beyond your comprehension.
Christianity EtcRe: Please, Can Christians Stop Twisting The Bible? Isnt That The Job Of Atheists? by Goshen360(m): 3:29pm On Jan 02, 2013
First @ Logicboy03,

On your question, "A simple question, if Jesus's teaching are different from the old testament, how are his teachings in the gospels then part of the old testament?"

Your problems are: you are lazy; only want to hear what you want to hear or dwell on what you previously know from the bible. I gave you the link to the other thread where the answer to your question was provided. You still choose to start irrelevant argument here seeking unnecessary attention all over here. If your too lazy to go read the other thread, then you are on your own. The same way you were saying to defend the faith = argue the faith and when you are asked, you ran away. Safe journey mehn!

Logicboy03: Goshen, I hardly argue with you and truthislight because all you guys know is to give some twisted protestant prosperity interpretations of the bible
What!... shocked shocked shocked

You can't argue me or truthislight because you lack sound biblical stamina to argue us. What we speak is beyond your "logic" hence we defeat you in biblical reasoning. We only use scriptures to explain scriptures. That's the way to sound teaching bro. Like I said, I will keep my eyes on you henceforth and tackle you whenever you spew biblical rubbish... grin
Christianity EtcRe: Crossing Your Legs In Church, Is It Wrong? by Goshen360(m): 4:39am On Jan 02, 2013
And nobody has been able to establish from the scripture that crossing legs while in worship place is wrong; mind you we are the church, not the building. If a Christian sister feels or thinks she sit carelessly sometimes and decides to cross her legs in order to prevent "exposure" what is wrong in that for God's sake? If we are going to prove something is wrong, then I think we should establish such truth from the scripture not by sentiments.

Logicboy03: Nowadays, I am even confused myself.
Yes! You have to be more CONFUSED. Confused because you only have logic to interpret scriptures. When the same logic is engaged with you to "reason" the scripture, you end up being confused. The proper way of interpreting scripture is using scriptures-to-explain-scriptures.

Logicboy03: The ridiculous things I have heard so far
You called it ridiculous because you never learned anything in the first place when you were busy serving the table. Well, I don't know of other things but certainly, you need to go sit down and learn the truth for yourself and not just reading the bible to find fault or come back to ridicule the word; when you do that, we will always be here to challenge your knowledge.

Logicboy03: -The four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) are not part of the new testament
This teachings, you ran away from the thread. We helped you out. We have trashed it out. Go back and learn. Click HERE

Logicboy03: -Christ supported tithing
-Satan is not a spirit
-The soul is a spirit
-The soul is an aura of human being
I'm not starting this year with tithing but Christ NEVER taught tithing. It was an Old testament practice that was still in effect when Christ was physically on earth. It was still a "matter of the law" according to Matthew 23:23. Hence, Matthew to John was still old testament but were written AFTER the death of Christ. I believe that was the reason scholars placed it as a new testament. The context/content of Matthew to John is old testament aside Christ's teaching that He came and beginning to change. You need to go back to that thread above that I gave the link and learn.

I don't know about other three aspect but I believe what you need to do (if you really want to know the truth) is to first give your life to Christ and believe the Gospel. The Spirit of God then in-dwells you and teach you all truth of the word. You have a responsibility and that responsibility is to yourself to be diligent in studying the truth.
