^ Abeg go sidon... So if people are being added to Christianity, you want us to start announcement? Christianity itself is life. I'm not talking about just living. It's a way of life different from the worldly life. |
^ Well, well, well....@ Seun. I didn't follow this thread up to this time but we do not have any record of slavery (in captivity) in the NT. The Slavery we have is by extension from the OT (if any) and there are two definitions to biblical slaves. If I have time tomorrow, I will come on board as I will soon get off the computer to attend other things. |
manmustwac: We atheists live just as good a life as you christians do & we don't need to look up to an imaginary friend to help us in imaginary ways, we don't have to give 10% of our monthly hard earned wages to our Pastor [s]who lavishes it on private jets expensive rides mansions etc, [/s]we don't have to waste our precious time every Sunday, midweek or end of the month thanking someone that dose not even exist for keeping us alive & finally we're not afraid to die. It dose not mean that we want to die or look forward to it. It just means that we can handle the situation better than you theists can.The boldened is untrue! You don't own the power to life and death. You can change anytime bro. |
La Professeur: Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and tortuous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness with which more than half the Bibleis filled, it would be more consistent that we call it the word of a demon than the word of God. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind. That's untrue! I do not have much time though to spend online. I would have love to share with you. Maybe we continue tomorrow. |
^ Well I'm not too sure if Christianbook.com have extension in Nigeria. If they do, theirs will do good and very cheaper. They carry good stuff also. Wish you the best. |
991: Sir, it's not about sweeping people for floor. if you are truly a christian, then you should sound more evangelical. you should not talk as if two men are quarreling over a lady that neither of them cares about. When we turned evangelical, Atheists on board turn argumentative and conclusively result in time wasting. We have also engage in logical and reasonable thinking but they love to just argue back and forth. |
OP, you mean like Holy Ghost Festival ![]() |
^ Okay. Honestly I don't really know how to start this particular teaching/topic but it has been on my mind for a while so I decided to make it open and participatory. Okay. Let me start with a scripture from the Gospel. New International Version (©1984) But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount." Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost." - Luke 19:8-10 This is one of the scriptures used by those who teach restitution for Christians. What say ye of this scriptures? |
^ Which kind kweshion you dey ask...can't you read as you were caught up in your OP? |
E be like say una dey afraid for this topic huh. |

Okay lemme spill my story today. Here is how it goes: I was born in Aj City, popularly known as Ajegunle when my parents were still a tenant at the traditional ruler (Baale) of olodi Apapa. Before age 7 (not too sure now), I was taken to my uncle that was living at Amuwo Odofin Area in order to put me through in education because my parent weren't that too educated - They thought my uncle will look after my education properly. So I started living with my uncle even before I started kindergarten (popularly known as "j'ile o simi" in Yoruba language). Went to primary school - Kuje Amuwo Primary school and later to Agboju Secondary School, Agboju Amuwo, Lagos State. In my secondary school day was when I became wild even though brilliant. I was introduced to many gangsters within the system and subsequently mingling with Area boys. Our gang grew so big to the degree that nothing is impossible for us. We had anything at our finger tip and we do whatever we desire at any given time. At a time, I wanted to date a female teacher and when she refused, I organized my gang and we dealt with her. It was later found out and I was suspended from school and to bring my parent or guardian at resumption. This was at the time I was about to take my WAEC. Knowing that my uncle is a pastor, I can't go to school with my uncle; I had to organize my 'Area father' to come stand in for me and disguise as my guardian. So when he came to the school authorities, they told him everything and he was acting - slapping me for real like a discipline..... ![]() I was involved in all kinds of satanic activities - charms, juju, consult herbalist etc and was very aggressive with females. Any girl wey no agree to date me then na bitting be her portion. Me and my gang go beat her reach her mama house.... . Well, make I no go beyond this point. Anyway, I was a rascal in female affairs - una dey feel me shey? . My rascal lifestyle grew to the point that I can stand anyone and look them in the face even my uncle and his wife - There was a time my uncle's wife messed with me and I felt she wasn't respectful. I chased her out with CUTLASS. . Most days of the week when my uncle is asleep, I sneak out with my gang at night to go shopping - you know what I mean right.....I'm talking out night business. If we don't get anything, we end up catch people's fowl, slaughter and make night pepper soul..... .Okay! I continued in that lifestyle until somewhere in between the K & S Church we were attending then was converted to a Pentecostal Church along Old Ojo Road, by Moshalashi Bus-stop, Amuwo, Lagos state. We used to have sectional night vigil - women, men, youth, prayer warrior etc. I decided to attend one of the youth night vigil one night when another youth pastor was invited. The ministration was so real and the power of God was present to convict every world of sin. I had never experienced anything as real as that night when a man's heart can melt in the face of world of sin. This is not an alter call issue ladies and gentlemen. Ladies and Gentlemen, permit me to say - being born again don't happen at alter calls, it happens inside of a man with the power of the Holy Spirit convicting the world and passion of sin in men. That's it! I was born from above and given a new life in Christ Jesus. Everyone around me knew it without being told. Hey, the best form of evangelism is what we do with our new life in Christ. No more living according to the old man. Became so active in ALL church activities, bible study and things of God. Later on, had water baptsim; baptism of the Holy Ghost and prayed in tongues. Shortly after that, was admitted to Federal Polytechnic, Offa and worshiped with the RCCG branch there, My Pastor then was H.C. Monyei and the Zonal Pastor, Oladoye. Well, the rest is story anyway. I was fed the word of God in all of these faces of Christian life until I began to do more personal study and began to spot error from the truth. It's being glorious moments walking with God and only the Grace can sustain us. Thank you. |
We can't ignore them and we can't argue too much with them. A little here and a little there....you know what it is right? Just try to balance the scale. |
^ Yes sweetie. |
musKeeto: If the purpose of the LAW was to make the Children of Israel OBEDIENT.. it failed woefully.. Yahweh performs wonder upon wonder, miracle upon miracle, and yet in every other chapter the people either complain or rebel. He sends numerous prophets and yet things keep getting worse, never better..It wasn't the law that failed. The law was good in its intention from God. Just like if our biological father tell us not to go near the fire. It is because he understand we will get hurt. It was the people that were disobedient and hardened in heart and rebellion. Take a look at this verse, New International Version (©1984) But God found fault with the people and said: "The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. - Hebrews 8:8 There wasn't fault in the OT or the law at the time and intention with which it was given but the people. Like you rightly pointed, it wasn't God but the people. The same goes today, if there is war in this world, is it God or we, the people living in the world? We cannot blame everything on God after he had given us the best way to live - the way of love. musKeeto: Alright, so the LAW failed. And now HE's sent HIS Son and still the 'CHURCH' keeps failing, keeps abusing his grace. And you know exactly what I mean by church.Yes, I understand what you mean and I agree with you. Many of us Christian abuse the grace of God but it is non-the-less a better covenant. Those who understand that grace is not a license to continue to violate God's instruction surely understand grace enables them to overcome because the more we live under the law the more it brings out sin in us and also gives strength to sin but grace enables us to live above sin when understood. Well, not too many of us understand the grace subject though so I won't speak for all. |
musKeeto: Of course, so without the new, there can be no old. Jesus himself quoted extensively from the Old Testament.Do you mean to say "without the old, there cannot be new"? Well, either way you meant it. The OT is only pointing to Christ in form of shadows and types. The old also let us understand God started with just a nation which was also a type and shadow of the church but not the church for one national geographical nation does not represent the universal church. musKeeto: My aim here is not to distinguish the OT from the NT. As far as I'm concerned, there was a greater one (Jesus' father) who was in charge from the OT to the NT.Off course we have to distinguish between the old and the new because God himself distinguished. He set aside the OT in order to establish the NT. We don't have to mix things up. There is a purpose for the OT and also the NT. musKeeto: Was Jesus' father, Yahweh, the same God of THE Old Testament?Yes, God is the same God of the OT and of the NT. You need to understand he was ONLY dealing with a nation then, just one at that dispensation. The law was then applied for the purpose of training that one nation to obedient until Christ will come. |
musKeeto: OGA Goshen, Welcome.Yes, the old covenant applied to him but he had to live it and fulfill it in order to bring it to an end so as to establish the new. God found fault with the people in keeping the old. Therefore, the dispensation to change came and the old was set aside. |
Bidam: @goshen..it is not as if these prosperity gospelers never opened my eyes to some fundamental scriptural truths..but the way and manner they hinged on prosperity and occultics practices..hence promoting doctrines of demons is what am against.they may have started well but they lost it along the way..you can see them buying lands and building monuments everywhere. Bidam: haba..bro wetin i talk bad..?What you said isn't bad at all. In fact, you said the bible truth. I was surprised because I 'used to think' you are treading their ways since you mostly defend them sometimes. I might be mistaken though but yours is a gospel and kingdom truth - "they are building monument and not the kingdom". |
@ musKeeto, Take a look at this. There are times in the biblical period called dispensations. Ephesians 1:10. Under the dispensation (time period) of national Israel, it was only between God and Israel and was governed by the OT. In this dispensation (of Grace), God is working with the church and that includes both universal believers and national Israel. God cannot and doesn't work with this dispensation by the OT. Expanded Bible (EXB) His goal was to carry out his plan, when the right time came [or at the time of fulfillment; in the fullness of the times], that all things in heaven and on earth would be joined together [unified; or summed up; or renewed] in Christ as the head. - Ephesians 1:10 Below scripture clearly says the first or old covenant was ONLY between God and national Israel, not with the Church because the church was instituted by the death and blood of Christ. Expanded Bible (EXB) The first agreement [covenant; contract; given to Israel through Moses; 8:7, 13] had rules [regulations; requirements] for worship and a place on earth for worship [ earthly sanctuary/holy place]. New Living Translation (©2007) That first covenant between God and Israel had regulations for worship and a place of worship here on earth. - Hebrews 9:1 It says between God and Israel, NOT between God and the Church. |
musKeeto: Lol...Yes, Christ had to live and follow the law until his death brought and end to the law of Moses. Then he fulfilled it. He cannot abolish it while he lives. Let's start to fly scriptures now.... ![]() GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995) Christ is the fulfillment of Moses' Teachings so that everyone who has faith may receive God's approval. King James 2000 Bible (©2003) For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes. New Living Translation (©2007) For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God. Expanded Bible (EXB) [ For] Christ ended [is the end/culmination/fulfillment of] the law so that everyone who believes in him may be right with God [have righteousness]. Romans 10:4 musKeeto: ThenWhat does this mean? What are the things concerning him that he explained. Under the OT, those things were in shadows and NOW, Faith in Christ is the substance. Expanded Bible (EXB) The law is only an unclear picture [ shadow] of the good things coming in the future; it is not the real thing [reality itself; true image of them]. The people under the law offer the same sacrifices every year, but these sacrifices can never make perfect those who come near to worship God. - Hebrews 10:1 |
Pastor Kun: @GoshenNo sir. Off course I will definitely let you know when I'm in Nigeria and will definitely meet you. This was my family business before I left. It continues and I'm flying the advert for my dad and the manager. |
