OP, Abram did not tithe. Abram gave a tenth of the spoils of war to Melchizedek.

Other bible versions (Living bible, international standard version) state that it was a tenth of the loot/everything.

It is only King James version that uses "tithe". That tithe was not a typical tithe offering but a tribute of spoils of war.

First Corinthians 16:1-2; and Second Corinthians 9:7-8 are very much instructive if any person wishes to give to God acceptably.

To practice tithing in this Christian dispensation is simply going into Judaism for a single practice while rejecting the other components of Judaism such as animal sacrifice, etc.

There's nothing like offering (by the name or used in today's churches) in the new testament. Money collected during worship is not offering but contributions. When you start saying offering, it brings an old testament sense of offerings and how they used to offer rituals to God in their worship in those days.

That's why Malachi said...."in tithes and in offerings...."

Both tithes and offerings are gone in the new covenant.
Hebrews 10: 8-9.

"Tithe existed before the law with Abraham"....kind of argument. But, wait a minute, when did Abraham tithe became a law or a monthly payment? Lol They can't answer.
