OneKinGuy: how do i backup my present rom except via twrp If you mean your rom itself, you can download it (either recovery or fastboot rom) from miui. If you mean the contents of the files in your rom, you have to copy your media and other files to an external memory, then backup your settings, notes etc with your stock backup from settings - Additional settings - Backup and reset - Local Backups. |

ubev01: Seriously, all these "don't update yet", "wait for reviews first", "miui update may ruin your battery life" etc started with u guys to the point that people must first table their update here and start asking whether to upgrade or not. I don't understand why a single person will now be made a Scapegoat. This issue is heading towards HATRED (as I'm seeing it) and we should be better than that. Thanks Naaa, there is no scape goat and no hatred at least from me, this issue of updating or not has been here from day one, but we never had a case where someone was like an authority over any form of update. We have actually discouraged people from updating to some particular roms here, miui 8.2.10.0 comes to mind, but not from updating at all. We don't need to even make this an issue, what must be said must be said. |

scotweezy: Bros! stop this 'Don't upgrade', if most people go with this your advise na untop MiUi 8 android 6.0 people like us wey buy Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 early last year go still dey. whatever happened to taking risk or better still asking for other people's review before updating.
My advise for anyone thinking of updating is to: ask for others review; keep a backed up version of your present rom incase of issues with the new update. And you don't need to update if it's not a major jump, there are no serious issues with your present version, no new interesting features that you really like to try out in the change log.
Personally, it took me a while to update from MiUi 8 to 9, but it happened to be the best update for my device. I am currently on 9.0.5.0 and I'm planning to join the 9.5 crew soon na data no dey For d sake of tranquillity I nr bother to quote am for such wrong info, I believe some others did same. If you say anything contrary d guy go pick am as fight and we like dis thread to move ahead. Imagine me and some others wen dey use dis phone for over a year now, a newbie dey tell us not to update , even the so called version he dey talk about na bad rom for some persons. E nr even bother to ask d original rom d phone come with, phone wen start with 8.1.15.0 I think . Meaning those wen go buy in like 3 months time need to downgrade to the said good rom, because by then, d manufacture go flash the trending rom . |

Do you mean I should get the icare data recovery from torrent sites? If you eventually manage to get back your files, replace that memory card with an original one. |
