Yes of course, developer rom is available for all Xiaomi phones, but the Android version is definitely not the same for all models.

Battery depends on usage but outstanding, I switched to edge last night at about 27% and later switched off data till dawn, will charge this morning.

Screen recorder is available only for developer rom for now, was using it for Redmi note 2 before it was stolen, it will be available for global stable roms very very soon.

Thought you already checked.
Go to settings - Additional settings - Developer options - Mi unlock status.

If you can't find developer options under additional settings then : Go to settings - About phone - tap the miui version like 7 times repeatedly.

No need to be confused, note 4 global SD and Note 4x are exactly the same phones, so whichever you see, go with it. The only exception is in the 4gig ram, 64gig rom version (Redmi note 4 is snapdragon, while Redmi note 4x is mtk). If you see a Redmi Note 4 with 3gig ram and 64 rom, know its also mtk. I stand to be corrected sha, because Xiaomi na oga of plenty unannounced variants of phone models, won't be surprised if they release a 2gig ram, 16gig model .

I used Ucbrowser to download the older version of MIUI 8.1.9 suggested in the link posted by Gptech. I may re download with OperaMini and see want is gonna happen. Recovery flashing is an alternative to the complex Fastboot flashlight. I may try the recovery flashing later
