enque:Start with little liquid in the cup and you can offer her from your cup. Watch the position of the tip of the cup, make sure it's positioned well on the tip. It may take a while for her to master it because they are used to moving both lips in sucking reflex while taking liquid. I really don't do sippy cup. The older ones didn't like it so I started giving them water with plastic bottles, my own cup then I started giving them in small cups. By 1 yr, they can hold the cups and drink water without help. |
Burntcoal:Please, don't load your baby with drugs. My baby is very chubby and we EBF. Lol @ paracetamol 3x daily for no reason. I used no colic med for my baby and he's fine and sleeps well. |
Giddyperson:Kpele. Hope she's much better now. Children get extra clingy when they are sick or uncomfortable. Malaria comes with loss of appetite. She'll be fine. Don't have experience with sepsis. Take her back if need be. |
kelizosuy:Cc Mahoti Please, squatting is not encouraged during 3rd trimester or during labor unless you've been doing before pregnancy. Squatting can lead to prolonged labor, difficult delivery and a generous episiotomy or possible CS. If you squat with your knees and feet parallel, your pelvic will be in a triangular shape but if you squat with your feet pointing outward, your pelvic will be in a reverse triangular shape. I'll try to explain each. A woman in her 3rd trimester can't squat with her feet and knees parallel. What it means is that when she's squatting, the upper side of the pelvic is open while the lower side is closed. Now, the optimal birthing position for babies is occipital anterior i.e. The baby's face facing your back. This position makes labor faster and most babies turn to this position during active labor. If you are squatting and your baby is not in occipital anterior position, you force the baby's head to descend into the pelvic with no room to change which means you may be faced with a difficult labor. The baby will be in occipital posterior position and the outer side of the pelvic will be tighter. Yes, squatting is known for toning the pelvic. If you squat with your feet pointing outwards it makes the upper side closed and the lower side open. This means that you can be fully dilated but the baby's head will still not be engaged or it will be hitting the pelvic bones. Most babies get engaged during active labor. How about women that do water birth and deliver in a squatting position? You may ask. Listen, no professional midwife will allow a woman to squat during labor unless the head of the baby has passed the ischial tuberosities. When the head passes the ischial tuberosities, then the woman is allowed to enter the water for delivery. By design, a heavily pregnant woman cannot squat with her feet and knees parallel. You can turn a labor that is meant to last for 3 hrs into a 10 hrs labor by squatting. Walk, Run, Dance, climb the stairs, get down on your 4's, lie on your left side, rock on an exercise ball with your knees lower than your hips but please avoid squatting unless it's been part of your routine before pregnancy. |
Giddyperson:In addition to other suggestions, you can try oats, rice and pounded plantain |
soonest:Jesu Christi, Bu Oluwa. Ohhhhhoohhh, wetin nah? Why all these evuls? Abeg we too dey get postpartum cravings. Your address please. Happy Independence Day mamas. |
nadesh:It could be a reaction from the wipes or diapers or a yeast infection. I had the same experience with my baby. What I did was to apply baby tribotan for like 3 days, then stopped and started using only coconut oil for him. You can apply sudocreme after using tribotan. If you want to use skineal or funbact A, mix it with Sheabutter. It's not from the coconut oil. I only use coconut oil for my baby's bum. Some women swear that using breast milk to wash the area can clear it up within 3 days |
Giddyperson:Fellow pregnant women ??
|
HolySteph:Stick with your LMP or your dating scan. Your baby could be measuring ahead that doesn't mean you'll give birth then. |
thotianna:Lol @ drug elongating your pregnancy. First of all, preterm labor sometimes doesn't present itself as labor and it can be spontaneous. What you described above could be preterm labor and don't forget he's a professional. I want to believe he's a gynecologist. Some of these things don't need test or scan to ascertain. You said he examined you, he must have a reason for prescribing those drugs. Please, take the drug if you want. It's safe. Don't stress yourself. Give yourself bed rest if you can and report back to him if it continues. Please, if you are constantly questioning your doctor's judgement, change your doctor. You can't be playing gamble with your pregnancy. |
proudmom38:I hope he's much better now. Discuss with the doctor, you may have to be giving him anti malaria once a month or once in three months. You may have observed the trend of the occurrence. If you do this, the attack will be milder. |

Royal infirmary on timberland road badore or st kizito hospital, jakande first gate. I don't stay around there but some mamas recommended them sometime ago. Hopefully you'll get more recommendations |
angelys:Where do you live? Which area are you considering? |
forzarush:I posted the reply to your question @ 12:35pm. You replied hunniesuzie @ 4:51pm and you are claiming you only saw my modified post even though my post is directly below the one you replied. In Osuofiah's voice "I hear you". Madam, you tried. I modified the post @ 5:53pm after I saw that you ignored it. I don't want to expose the contact I left there. |
forzarush:I know I wasted my time responding to your post. Thanks for ignoring it. |
forzarush:No 1: no clue. No 2: |
davsquared:I'm writing this in response to the question you asked above. To your first question, the fact that he doesn't want to wear the diaper is a good sign. You have to encourage him and be patient with him. Get him to take a nap in the afternoon so that he's not too tired in the night and watch his activities in the evening. Minimize the water he takes once it's 6pm and let him pee before going to bed and take him to the toilet again before you lie down and immediately you wake up. Any day he wakes up dry, praise him and encourage him. If he has a potty accident, don't beat him. Talk to him and review what he did d previous night. Big boys don't pee on bed. Don't forget to put a rubber sheet on their bed before your house starts smelling. To the second question, you can start giving him beverages. A picky eater will always be a picky eater. Na sense sure pass when it comes to children. My son refused to take tea/milo and hates chocolate but when he saw bournvita advert, he liked the colorful pack and started taking bournvita. We don't call it tea in my house, we say bournvita and he takes it well. My daughter always ask for beans because I told her it will make her grow like a giant. |
Naomi14:Yes, normal adult food. Start giving her small small. If she gets used to it, it will save you the wahala of preparing two pots of food for the family and having a picky eater. |
Giddyperson:@ 5 months. I started putting whatever I'm eating in her mouth just for her to get used to the taste. At 6m when I introduced cereal, we'll struggle with the cereals but she gets excited whenever she sees normal(adult) food. Gradually, I offer her anything we are eating and still breastfeed her. She dropped our daytime bf @ 8m then @ 9m, if I offer to bfeed her, she'll bite my tips and remove her mouth. I just pack my thing inside bra and she started STTN. She preferred mashed food to puréed food. I mash her rice with egg yolk and butter. Sometimes I add blended carrots to the rice or I give her the rice with little stew ( from 9m) I gave her little swallow with any soup I'm eating but make sure it's very soft. I cut her fruits in small pieces and watch her eat it. Most times she eats what everyone is eating except I need to make hers softer. I don't have time to be cooking different food for anyone. Occasionally I allow her to feed herself by 14m, she could eat with spoon with little mess. |
Giddyperson:Yes, Cerelac rice with mixed vegetables. I think we started when he was 6m +. |
enque:On the contrary, I think babies love it. The money I spent on the mixed veg cerelac can open a grocery shop. My house was filled with the tins because it was the only cereal my Ds2 accepted. Hope your daughter is much better now. Regards. |
Giddyperson:I've only used cerelac. The mixed vegetable is not too sweet but d ones with honey, wheat and fruits are too sweet. I think gerber is ok too. I don't know much about the brands in the market now. The last time I bought cereal for babies is about 7 years ago. My 6 yr old went from breast milk to normal food and self wean herself @ 9 months. |
Giddyperson:It could be that the iron is much for her or the body is trying to adjust to the iron level. If the cereal has milk, don't add formular when preparing it and see if it stops. If it continues, change the cereal. |
Giddyperson:Lol @ village people. Was at the hospital for our 10 wks vaccine. |
Giddyperson:I missed it again. ![]() |
Benignasweety:See posing nah Chairman things. Well done mama |
Liftedhands:Omo see fine boy. He's too cute with plenty swag |
@ Giddyperson, I've remember writing ICAN with a 7 months old pregnancy and it was my best result. I also wrote an exam with a 2 weeks old baby. My mom couldn't come for Omugwo because I lost my dad a month before. I was EBF. DH begged me not to but I was determined and I had the best result. I'm telling you this because sometimes we bring out the best in us when we seem to be limited. Your brain fxns at its maximum capacity and you maximize your time. Plan out your schedule and be determined. Challenge yourself and believe you can do it. Tips on combing baby's hair: my baby has long curly hair. What I do is wash/wet the hair, apply cream/oil and use the baby brush to brush it out. The brush kind of detangles it then I comb. If you always struggling with diaper rash, ditch those Vaseline, sudocrem and the rest. Use cheap and effective coconut oil. After cleaning your baby or at every diaper change, dry the area and use a cotton wool to apply coconut oil on the nappy area. Sometimes I just pour and use my fingers to apply. No business with rashes. I also use coconut oil for my Tips. No need to wash it off cause it's natural and prevents and treat thrush cause it's anti fungal. |
Roseey0:Ukpaka is safe. When I was craving abacha, I dissolved d ogiri in water and poured into my slightly heated oil and it was perfect. I'll avoid ngu if it were me. A little more patience is better than stories that touch the heart. |
goodfortun:You can apply coconut oil on your nipple after every feed. This is not only natural but very effective and you don't need to wash it off. |
who knows where I can download Jeniva's Diiiiary.
