It's pretty simple if you know how positioning, transition and transform work in css. |
remmyz: @ graphicplus. pls do u know of any open source that can be used for online video training like Linda.com. basically wat I need is sometin that I will be able to upload video tutorials, only Ppl that register as student will have access to it, video wont be downloadable and social share will be present. hoping to hear from you soon.I dont know of any open source. You have to stream the video instead of hosting the file. By so doing, the video will be very difficult, (but not impossible) to download. Again, it will discourage some students from subscribing because most of them will like to watch the tutorials again and again offline without been forced to be online in order to save some bandwidth. You can use the services of https://www.viddler.com. They are the people powering udemy.com online video tutorials. They will stream the videos directly from server instead of hosting the video files. Their services is superb and they are leading in online video streaming services, but it will cost you some bucks like 50USD per month for 100GB storage. I suggest you just upload your videos in mp4 or flv and allow members to download them. They will not sell it. Even if they sell it, the people that buy the videos will see the intro of the video which will carry the url of your training website. It will even drive more traffic to the website because people will like to check out the main owner of the video tutorials. |
ribechi: At least, try to take correction on your rudenessYou expected me to rub you powder? Just re-read your thread and then look at yoursel and know whether u made any sense. This is how people like go around deceiving people and extorting their money. Look, this type of business wil nt be allowed to fly here. |
Nice one. HOMEPAGE: It seems you guys are still missing some fundamentals. Your slider images are all in png format. Why? For webdesign's sake, the images that dont demand transparent background should never be saved in png format. Your slider images dont demand transparent bg, then why save in png format? One of your slider images is 488KB, but when I resaved it in jpg format I got it at 48KB. Look, speed matters. That's part of the user's experience. When a website loads very fast or slow, the user will notice it. Whether he will have a bad or good experience using the website depends on you the web developer. The three images in the home page. You should have add their text headings through html and make the images background in css. But it's ok. Why are you doing something like this: <p> </p>? Why not use css and give the p tag margin-top? ABOUT US: You did well by not repeating the slide in the about us page. But the image there is very heavy because you saved it in png format. It's currently 290KB, but I resaved it in jpg format and got it at 50.3KB. Remember, speed matters. And since you will be hosting this on a shared server, speed must be put into account. Other pages are just the same, it's only the contents that changed. Your drop down menu. Why is it that the text is making some rough movements? Did you change the font-size on hover? What is the work of the Webmail Login and the Search field? You set a certain z-index to 1024. Why? If the first z-index has 0, then just give the second a z-index of 100, then 110, 200 and so on. Contact form not validated. I sent an empty form and I got a thank you message. I should have gotten a slap. The website is not responsive. Since the layout is pretty simple, you should make it responsive. Please resave all your header and slider images with jpg format. Thank you. |
Go to business section and stay there. And stop abusing web design industry. |
You are not serious at all. Carry this thread go to Business section because all that you have ranted here make no single meaning to a web developer. |
adewasco2k: Please i just want to ask why you charge so high for drupal? i have not used it before though.Drupal is the most difficult to learn and most secured CMS. |
There are cool features and opportunities Seun is yet to leverage to turn NL into a goldmine. I mean, for the past 8 years, NL seems to be going very slow. There are things Seun needs to put in place to expand this forum to yield great income for him. Seun needs to think and implement these things. |
This is a website blog I am putting together for a pastor. He wants to use it as a daily devotional writings. I did it from scratch. I will work on a custom CMS that will be powering the blog. His color is #000 to #aaa. I tried making it simple. The latest blog will appear at the top. Then following day, the previous one will drop down and join one of those previous blogs under the latest blog. The blog will not be a long essay. It will be a daily short notes from the pastor and his wife. Check and tell me what you think. http://www.ctrlshiftstudios.com/pastor-blog |
Which of the emails? |
remmyz: for the first time, I commend. ur post. if u enlighten Ppl with posts like dis and not the oda way round Ppl will respect u . cheersI still have not changed the way I comment. Maybe you have been misunderstanding me. |
Your codes validate at w3c validator or w3c schools? |
To design a web template like the one below and click a button, and it will process for about 30 minutes and delivers to me a fully coded website that doesn't have it's layout with table, the css will be neat and it will be responsive.

sisqology: *passes by*Again, you saved a picture: china.png Why? That picture is 206KB. But i resaved it with jpg and got it at 14.9KB. Look, these are fundamentals. Any picture that doesnt demand transparency, dont save it with .png Use .jpg PNG is heavier than JPG. Try to avoid it unless the image demands transparent background. Even after saving your transparent background image and it's more than 50KB, go to http://www.tinypng.org and optimize it more. You will later get it at about 30KB, yet you will not lose the quality. Again, I can see you are still doing what every newbie did. Using html to force an image to take a particular size. That's doing injustice to html. When a user opens the website, the http will have to download the whole image from the folder and then uses html to force the image to resize it to the size you have specified. Your england image is 410KB in weight and it's size is 1920px/1200px, yet you forced it to enter a small square td in your table. This is unacceptable. Look, photoshop must be opened anytime you want to design any website. You dont just open google image and search for 'England' and then you choose one and dump it inside your website folder image. No. Every image must pass through photoshop. If you want your image to be 400px/400px, then open a new photoshop canvas with exactly that size. Then bring in your image and scale it to be exactly 400px/400px. Then save. Never use 'Save' or 'Save As' and then you choose jpg. No. Use 'Save for Web and Devices.' This option will optimize the image for the web. If you are saving with jpg, choose 60% resolution. Dont go higher than 60% unless at 60% the weight is still very small, like 8KB, then you can bring the percentage to 70% or 80%. Dont take it up to 100% and dont go below 60%. Below 60% will reduce the quality of the image. If at 60%, you image is still very heavy, then save it and go to: http://www.jpegmini.com and optimize it further. This software will optimize it and bring down the weight, but the quality will remain intact. Let's keep on keeping on. Thank you. |
soladollar: Kudos, great sites. How much do you charge for a simple portfolio siteSend me email with what you want and how you want it. alexwritings[at]gmail[dot]com |
sisqology: hahahahaha, u funny o.oya check http://www.citasz.com firstAnd you still do layout with table? Common layouts you can achieve with six floated divs? Why are you using the old clunky table tag for layout? Are you trying to drag us back to 19th century? This is not acceptable. Please, table tag is meant to be used to display tabular data on the website, not for layout of images and other stuff.

I will like also to find out the church members he approached that didnt help him. Elvis said he has explored all avenues: friends, brothers, sisters and church members before coming to look for investors on NL. Not less than 3 persons have been charged to to do the investigation starting from morrow. Elvis, drop the address and name of your church here. |
Do you know why I said i will like to see his pastor? Elvis said he cannot have access to his pastor. i want to help him have access to him. The pastor with the church members can help. His principal? Elvis said he cannot do anything. I want to know what kind of principal that will hear that a 14 year old student of his school developed an sms mobile app and he will not do anything. |
I have right to know more about him. Shebi he wants investors. |
More investigation is on the way. This matter must be pursued to certain end. I will need to speak with his pastor and principal. |
Elvisten10: I never said i told my pastor and he refused, see as you are corrupting information. Read that thread again. And i don't want anything to do with you neither do i have to proove my self to you. I would rather deal with funky median(wrong spelling) or akintayo.Ok. Maybe you have forgotten. Here are your former post. Including the one you made in another thread of yours. https://www.nairaland.com/1339891/14-year-old-nigerian-bulk-sms-app#16511262 i kept dodging the parents issue and i don't want to say it but its the p - word problem.[br/] I guess you are not in nigeria, my pastor (i can't even get to him) and principal cannot do anything. Then in another thread when someone commented this: Yours friends, brothers, sisters, neighbours, church members and colleagues at work can do that. All investors are capitalists, although some may decide to gamble with about 5% or less of their net-worth or by investing in start ups. Here was your reply. https://www.nairaland.com/1230881/investors-needed-nigeria-internet-start-up#14846496 FOR ME TO COME HERE TO ASK FOR INVESTMENT, YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT I HAVE TRIED ALL THIS. That means you have tried your friends, your brothers, your sisters, your neighbours, your church members and colleagues and it didnt work out. Now you have come to NL, where 90% of the users are faceless to ask for investments. You must be a chronic liar. |
Elvis post the name of your church and address here. You said you have approached your pastor and he refused. Post the church name and address, let my friend who lives in PH comes to the church. |
@Akintayo1, your point cannot be further from the truth. There is a guy behind him. And the guy is just projecting this small boy here asking for money so that they will dupe people. The guy behind him is using him because he knows his age will provoke sympathy. Let Elvis post the name and address of his church here. This week, I have informed not less than 3 friends who live in PH to make out time and do an exhaustive investigation into this matter. |
Keep on talking. It's u that will get tired. When I was 12, my parents said i will study law. In me, i knew i will not want to be a lawyer, but there was no point arguing with them because i was not of age. When i was 18 and about to enter university, i told them that i will study another course and explain to them why. And with the help of my school Guidance and Counsellor, they agreed. And paid my university school fees. Elvis, accept the truth and stop going around. By the way, send me the address and name of your church. |
@Slyr0x, sorry, there is nothing like unreserved apology in a new thread. Don't expect that from me because it will not come. I will carry out my own investigation. There is something about Elvis we are not yet aware. He deserves no single apology. He should be talked sense into. And I am disappointed that you are asking me to apologize to a boy who left his parents, his church and his school and rush here on NL asking for investors into his project? You are asking me to apologize to a boy who who has no respect and thinks that since he can open a thread and comment on threads, he has become a sought after programmer? You want me to apologize to a boy who is looking for some money to dash his girl friend and keep going around deceiving people? You want me to apologize to 14 year old boy who came here asking investors to invest 250,000 Naira into his project? You want me to apologize to a boy who is a liar? I think someone is not serious here. |
I do not think anybody here is against Elvis been a programmer at a tender age. Nobody is jealous of him. What I believe sensible people here are telling him is to consider his age. At 14, it is absolutely wrong for Elvis to come to NL and be looking for investors. There are 101 ways he can seek exposure and financial assistance. 1. His family. Let's argue till eternity, Elvis must carry his family along. I have been a youth leader and counsellor for years and I am old enough to know the type of person Elvis is. Elvis has no regard for his family. He has grown wings. The programming brouhaha has entered his head. He now talks and associates with big boys. And so, his family is not important to him again. Elvis, i advice you again to go back to your parents and explain to them that you have made them proud by developing an app at the age of 14. Tell them what an app means. Tell them about your future with this app and your programming skill. Ask them that you will focus all the more in your studies, but that you need a small cheap laptop that will enable you expand more on what you have built. Explain to them that the path you are going will later make them proud. Your parents are certainly wise. They will reason with you and buy the laptop for you or approach someone who will do that for you. I know parents and dear caring heart. My dad bought our first black and white television because of me. How? I was always going to the neighbour's house to watch it and sometimes I will stay there till late. Then, he asked me if I want him to buy a tv, I said yes and he bought the tv for us. Go and speak to your parents. You are missing a very crucial stage in your life. Stop begging for sympathy here. Stop listening to some guys here who may not have any regard for the bond of family. 2. Your Church. Do you attend church regularly? Are you a member of the youth or teenage ministry in your church? Go to your pastor and speak to him about the sms app you have developed. Show him a demo. Explain things to him. Tel him that you need a laptop of 30k to help you develop the app further. Explain to him that the app will not distract you from your studies. Tell him that you need his prayers and blessings. Look, that pastor will raise offering for you in the church. If he wants to discourage you, start crying. You are still a kid, so crying will not be out of place. Tel him to reason with you and help you. If your pastor is too busy and the church is too big that having access to the pastor is somehow difficult, approach the Sunday school teacher of the church. Approach the youth leader. Approach the house fellowship leader. 3. Your school. Your school will be proud to be in the news for producing the Mark Zukerberg of Nigeria. Go to your Guidance and Counsellor. They are trained to counsel students and listen to them. I can't forget the impact the Guidance and counsellor of my college made in my life. Tell him about the app. Show him a demo. Plead with him to give you an exposure. Ask him to take you to the Principal. Ask them to invest into your life by buying you a laptop. Your principal is not foolish. He listens to news. He knows about the Summly guy. He will listen to you. 4. Write a letter to the PTA chairman of your school. Go to his house and explain things to him. Ask him to be an instrument of change in your life. Go to his house with your parents. Let them beg him to bring up your case in the next meeting. 5. Write a letter and send to the Village chairman of your community. Write a letter to the Igwe of your community. Write a letter to the Undergraduate Students Association of your community. Write a letter to the Councillor representing your community. Ask a matured youth in your church or the youth leader to accompany you to any of these NGOs. Elvis, you are still young and there are lots of opportunity ahead of you. However, it's only you that has power to jeopardize your future. Don't allow what you have seen on the Internet to deceive you. Never think the world is at your feet. Never jump the basics. There are things if you miss now, they will come back to haunt you. |
Again, you can use this to scan: https://www.stopbadware.org But try and go to google webmaster central and submit your website. |
Delete all the files from your public_html. Scan your laptop with a good antivirus. It happened to me some years back. There is a virus in one of the files you uploaded. This will continue and a time will come when they will send a report to your host and your host will pratically bring down the site. Scan your laptop. Scan the website folder. Then re-upload and then go to google webmaster and submit your site. |
