WebmastersRe: Lessons I Learned From Elvis Scam Saga And My Suggestion To Seun by GraphicsPlus(op): 9:40am On Jun 30, 2013
Redcliff, thank you for your matured understanding.

I do not think anybody here is against Elvis been a programmer at a tender age. Nobody is jealous of him. What I believe sensible people here are telling him is to consider his age. At 14, it is absolutely wrong for Elvis to come to NL and be looking for investors. There are 101 ways he can seek exposure and financial assistance.

1. His family. Let's argue till eternity, Elvis must carry his family along. I have been a youth leader and counsellor for years and I am old enough to know the type of person Elvis is. Elvis has no regard for his family. He has grown wings. The programming brouhaha has entered his head. He now talks and associates with big boys. And so, his family is not important to him again. Elvis, i advice you again to go back to your parents and explain to them that you have made them proud by developing an app at the age of 14. Tell them what an app means. Tell them about your future with this app and your programming skill. Ask them that you will focus all the more in your studies, but that you need a small cheap laptop that will enable you expand more on what you have built. Explain to them that the path you are going will later make them proud. Your parents are certainly wise. They will reason with you and buy the laptop for you or approach someone who will do that for you. I know parents and dear caring heart. My dad bought our first black and white television because of me. How? I was always going to the neighbour's house to watch it and sometimes I will stay there till late. Then, he asked me if I want him to buy a tv, I said yes and he bought the tv for us. Go and speak to your parents. You are missing a very crucial stage in your life. Stop begging for sympathy here. Stop listening to some guys here who may not have any regard for the bond of family.

2. Your Church. Do you attend church regularly? Are you a member of the youth or teenage ministry in your church? Go to your pastor and speak to him about the sms app you have developed. Show him a demo. Explain things to him. Tel him that you need a laptop of 30k to help you develop the app further. Explain to him that the app will not distract you from your studies. Tell him that you need his prayers and blessings. Look, that pastor will raise offering for you in the church. If he wants to discourage you, start crying. You are still a kid, so crying will not be out of place. Tel him to reason with you and help you. If your pastor is too busy and the church is too big that having access to the pastor is somehow difficult, approach the Sunday school teacher of the church. Approach the youth leader. Approach the house fellowship leader.

3. Your school. Your school will be proud to be in the news for producing the Mark Zukerberg of Nigeria. Go to your Guidance and Counsellor. They are trained to counsel students and listen to them. I can't forget the impact the Guidance and counsellor of my college made in my life. Tell him about the app. Show him a demo. Plead with him to give you an exposure. Ask him to take you to the Principal. Ask them to invest into your life by buying you a laptop. Your principal is not foolish. He listens to news. He knows about the Summly guy. He will listen to you.

4. Write a letter to the PTA chairman of your school. Go to his house and explain things to him. Ask him to be an instrument of change in your life. Go to his house with your parents. Let them beg him to bring up your case in the next meeting.

5. Write a letter and send to the Village chairman of your community. Write a letter to the Igwe of your community. Write a letter to the Undergraduate Students Association of your community. Write a letter to the Councillor representing your community. Ask a matured youth in your church or the youth leader to accompany you to any of these NGOs.

Elvis, you are still young and there are lots of opportunity ahead of you. However, it's only you that has power to jeopardize your future. Don't allow what you have seen on the Internet to deceive you. Never think the world is at your feet. Never jump the basics. There are things if you miss now, they will come back to haunt you.

Your age matters a lot. There are security and money risks you cannot bear now. There are some things you should not be proposing. Just imagine you asking investors to invest 250,000 Naira into your business. What do u understand by investors? People that dash people money? You must carry your parents along for now. You are a juvenile. If they pay your school fees now that means they really love you. Submit to them. You are not submissive. Go to your church and meet the youth leader. Go to your school and explain things to the school Guidance and Counsellor.

Elvis, i dont want u to reach certain age before u start programming. Keep up the good work. But sorry, u cant help ur age for now. U are still too young to look for investors. The summly guy, ar u aware that the money was not given to him, but to his parents. Why. He`s stil not of age. Although he`s 17. So go back to ur parents, church, uncle, or teacher at school and explain things to them. They will trust u than people u meet online.

ActiveMan: Bro must of us, our parent did not support us, they believe we have to go to school get a certificate and enter the labor market that was the norms, so you actually can not blame his parent for not able to raise money for him to get a computer
I understand. If that is the case in his own situation, then he should keep calm and finish college and reach about 18 years. Age of vote. He`s still a juvenile. He can still become whatever he wants to be, even against his parents wish, but he shouldn`t jump this stage in his life. My dad wanted me to be a laywer, and my younger one an Engineer. I agreed and reached of age and told him no. I went on to study a course where my passion lies.

Apologies oh because this boy no do you anything.
I have apologized already. Do think apology reduces a man`s worth?
But i still maintain that Elvis should henceforth desist from making financial requests online. He`s still a teenager.
WebmastersRe: Lessons I Learned From Elvis Scam Saga And My Suggestion To Seun by GraphicsPlus(op): 7:41pm On Jun 29, 2013
We cannot take that someone knows how to program and negate the sanctity of family. If at 14, your parents didnt support you as a programmer, but pays your school fees, then by all means face your college while honing your programming skill without shouting. I am surprised that his parents, his church and his school cant afford a laptop for him. He may know about programming, but Elvis is up to something else. There is something he`s not telling us.

Javanian should have interacted with his parents and go to his school on Monday and meet his teachers. I wish am around.

Good work Javanian.
And sorry Elvis for all the dust this matter raised.

Please, we may need to know his relationship with his parents.
Whereas he has been cleared, Elvis should desist henceforth from making financial requests without his parents knowledge. He should either do that through a mentor or one of the mods. I mean at his age, he should not be too out making financial requests incessantly. Just look at his threads. He has been looking for investors. What does he know about investors and investments?

It's even tantamount to fraud for a 14 year old boy to be looking for investors and financial assistance from people online. There is something you are not telling us about your parents. You have outgrown them. They dont have control over you again. Why? Because you have grown wings. You are now a programmer who exchanges words with men whose age is times three or four of your age on NL. You have a facebook account. You toast girls on facebok. You watch porn. You no longer care. Look, I dont think you go to church. I dont think you are obedient at school. You are just lying that your parents, your pastor and your school refused to support you.
WebmastersRe: My Request When Elvis10ten Is Cleared by GraphicsPlus(m): 10:14am On Jun 29, 2013
Even when Javanian has properly cleared u, u will still not get a laptop. Go and face you studies. At 14, you must carry your parents along in seeking for financial assistance. If not your parents, then someone who is matured. Can you sign a document at this age? I am noticing something about u. You are a wayward boy. You want to fly before you develop a wing. You opened facebook at the age of 10. You have been overtaken by all kinds of immoral things going on on the internet. You need your parents or a mentor at this stage.
WebmastersRe: My Request When Elvis10ten Is Cleared by GraphicsPlus(m): 9:51am On Jun 29, 2013
You said you no longer have time to maintain it. You never talked about laptop or a bug

CODE-EATER, if he is still a free man, why open this thread when the case is in the court.

US or Canada is very costly. I am considering Teesside University.
It ranked 75, but the review is very convincing. The school has an international reputation for computing education. It`s library ranks among the top ten and it is the best in north-east.
WebmastersRe: My Request When Elvis10ten Is Cleared by GraphicsPlus(m): 8:58am On Jun 29, 2013
Reason for selling it: i no longer have time to manage it.
Now, the reason for selling it is to buy laptop.
You no longer have time, what are you busy with.
You no longer have time, but you want a laptop to debug it.

I have a younger brother who just finished a degree in Computer Science. He's serving now at Bayelsa. We want him to go to United Kingdom and do a Master's Degree program in Computer Programming. There are lots of choices. Is there any person here who knows a good school in UK that delivers competently?

Thanks.

@Javanian, these are things you should find out:

1. How old is he?
2. Where does he school?
3. You will go to his school on Monday for further verification.
4. You will ask his parents about his app to know if they are aware?
5. Ask them if they are aware he lost certain iphone.
6. And other info.

startup: some body said on one site i visited that its not good to give your address online anyhow. @ javanian we will meet at cheta junction. The newly constructed okporo road is nice isn't it ?. But they said that light they put has only oned once ?.
It's not good to give address online, but it's good to seek financial assistance online?
Again, people give their addresses online especially their office address. Ok. Let's say your house address is kind of private. Kindly send your address to Javanian privately.

@Javanian, post your email here. It's only you that will have access to the address.
WebmastersRe: Lessons I Learned From Elvis Scam Saga And My Suggestion To Seun by GraphicsPlus(op): 11:05pm On Jun 28, 2013
Post your address and after verification of all your claims, then count yourself lucky because you will get more than a laptop.

startup: it kills @graphicsplus point, that am not the owner of the facebook account. We will talk via email where we will meet tommorrow and when, atleast that will clear my name. U don't expect me to post my address online and i don't expect you to come to my house if you so desire.
Posting your address here does it has any security implication. And you said you dont expect him to your house. Here is my house address: 1, Church Road, Kendraya Terminal, New Delhi.
WebmastersRe: Lessons I Learned From Elvis Scam Saga And My Suggestion To Seun by GraphicsPlus(op): 10:56pm On Jun 28, 2013
Javanian: @elvisTen10 post your house address here and i would pay you a visit, Its a walking distance from my house to Rumuodara.
Then you talk with his parents and also go to his school to see his teachers. The guy maybe a programmer, but not obedient to his parents.

First, when you opened a thread here asking us to buy your , you gave a reason of selling it. You said you dont want to manage it again. Now, you want a laptop to debug the app's bug.

Again, you said you were making 6k per month from it and you started it in October last year. 6k times 8 monthsis 48k. Where is the money you generated from the ad that cannot buy you a laptop. Again, at your age, if you still claim to be 14, then you still cannot do without your parents. Are they not the ones paying your school fees?

WebmastersLessons I Learned From Elvis Scam Saga And My Suggestion To Seun by GraphicsPlus(op):
First, I knew from day one that the thread was a complete scam. But I deliberately left that area until I have strong evidence. I wanted to call a friend who lives in PH to do the investigation for me. By merely looking at his thread, any person that doesn't think out of emotions and sentiments will know that it was a scam. Scammers usually embellish their scam message with emotions and uses situations that call for emotional reaction. Like using a teenage age, an orphan and so on. I have learned a lesson never to view things out of sentiments. I must give a thumb up to Dual_Core. He was called upon by databoy247 probably to come and join him to crucify me, but this gentleman called Dual_Core proved himself that he doesn't follow popular opinion or elite opinion when they could be wrong. He stands today to be the only person that really unraveled this scam. Dual_Core found out through facebook that Elvis Chidera was born in 1992 (21 years), a student of Madonna University and the owner of xmx.me.

In his thread, Elvis said someone gave him his iphone to sell and use the money to buy a laptop. That someone, does he have two phones? Why didn't the person sell the phone himself but gave to a 14 year old boy to go sell an iphone? He went to charge the phone at a phone charging center. Wasn't the phone charged in the first place by the person that gave him the phone? Then the phone was stolen where he went to charge it. Was he not there to look after his phone? If he was not there, didnt he hand-over the phone to the phone charger operator? These were questions in my mind.

When I asked him series of questions about his parents, pastor and principal, he said his parents are problem. How are they a problem? He said he cannot have access to his pastor. Including the youth leader of the church? He said the principal will not buy the idea. Including the guidance and counselor? These questions were ringing in my mind.

Nigerians must start seeing the two sides of a coin in every issue. We must not be too sentimental. If a 14 year old boy knows java, php and j2me and yet his principal didn't know about it and says his parents are a problem, then there is a comma somewhere. If at 14 he knows this languages and he's schooling at a private school, then I think the principal will even be happy to take him to the commissioner of Education in Rivers State.

But alas, Elvis Chidera is a scammer. He overreached himself. He has a group. And one of them is Judinho59. This dubious plan came into their mind and they wanted to play it out and dupe unsuspecting and gullible NairaLanders.

Here is my suggestion to Seun and his team, any person that opens such thread in the furure should be banned immediately and his IP address be tracked down. If any person with geniune startup idea and wants assistance financially and materially, he should first contact Seun and after strong verification, the person will then be allowed to open a thread making such financial or material request.
