Good day guys, had a laptop I haven't used for over a year plus due to relocation.

Decided to use it today and discovered the battery is totally gone.

My biggest now is the screen, once I on the laptop the screen has decided into 2, one side looks faded and the other is is normal. 2-5 minutes after going, the whole screen will go either dark blank or white blank... It's frustrating I can't use the system due to this...

Can any one suggest what could be the problem?

The battery sulphated. It became drained to the point that charging it couldn't raise its voltage to its minimum healthy Voltage again.
Next time, always remove your battery from your laptop if you won't use it for a longtime.
Your laptop screen is bad,you have to change it.

First, don't put pressure on yourself for not having a “bank balance” or “assets”. It's important to know that all these are still achievable only if you have a sane mind and good health.

Try getting a skill or adding knowledge to what you already have and know. Put yourself out there and let others know what you can do as regards providing solutions to problems with your knowledge and skills.

Cut down unnecessary expenses and try to live on your keep (or even below), but take care of yourself so that you can continue what you do.

Save first whatever you earn, then use what is remaining for bills and all. Don't borrow or buy things on credit (that's a thick maze of poverty). Always pay yourself and I mean that literally.

Finally, give time, time. There are early bloomers and there are late bloomers. There are stars and there are shooting stars. Because it's not happening now doesn't mean it's never going to happen. Don't compare yourself with others.

Pm udemzyudex,he is an Engineer,I know his office at computer village,I do call him whenever I need to do anything there. Sometimes he recommends people for me to meet. I trust the guy. If he can't help,he will take you to someone who can do it well.
Sotall is another nairaland I have patronised personally in computer village. You can search his moniker and call him.

Maybe I will try and come back to this thread often again. I stopped coming to this thread because of those who need help with their computers but will refuse to post reasonable information that will help others assist in resolving the issues.
Imagine someone complaining about something on its Pc screen and yet couldn't post a single picture. Some will just write some incoherent statements that doesn't make sense
If you need assistance about anything computer or its accessories,take your time to write in a comprehensive way. Give necessary information,we are not omniscient,for us to help we need detailed info. Pictures helps a lot also though not a must. Thanks

Buying ic cheap, but it not just all about buying ic.
Some people buy ic but end up wasting it just because they think one particular ic is the fault just like what is engr said.

Let's assume he bought the ic and fix it and still doesn't work? Because I know charging ic is not the fault here.
I also note that it's very difficult to get laptop ic around here unless you order for it which you can't get for #300, unless you buy in 5-10 pieces.

Some cost more, using inverter which is mostly THT to compare with laptop that is SMD is not the same.

However, like you said advice the op to try other engrs too.

I understand you bro,the engineer might buy the IC and replace but it might still not work because there might be other problems. Chai,it's not easy doing electronic repairs especially Pc. Thanks for the information.

What happened to your PC that makes the battery go bad so quick after buying was that, Those who sell UK used laptops in Nigeria always remove the follow come batteries and replace it with another China made batteries because the follow come are always very good and they're are more expensive than brand new China made batteries.
Now concerning the price of the batteries, everything has skyrocketed after the lockdown,but I think 15k is still too much. Please make sure you buy a good battery this time,infact even if you will pay N15k for an original manufacturer made battery,you won't regret it. You will enjoy it alot.
But it's going to be difficult, unless you go to your laptop manufacturers service center. Or you order from eBay or Amazon. You see those batteries on Jumia and Kings are fake,I use to see guys in computer village packaging fake Stuff for their jumia/Konga order. They upload pictures of original batteries but that's not what they sell.

IC are the cheapest part of any electronics,I know because I buy them often for inverter repair. Their prices ranges from N100 to N300. But multiple could be faulty. Also it takes little time to replace.
Try another Engineer first,intact take your Pc with you to different Engineers,let them check it and tell you what's wrong. Tell them you will get back to them,after trying 3 to 5 persons, choose the one you thy its price is lowest and you think can do a good job.
This is the only way to avoid being cheated especially in Lagos.

You are absolutely right bro, Politics is the same everywhere,kill or be killed. The difference is that in western world like USA there's 100% rule of law,no matter who you are,if you break the law, you will be axed,that's what is keeping their leaders in check. But in Africa,and definitely Nigeria, rule of law is weak,the rich and powerful and break the law and go away with it.

Politics is dirty and bitter anywhere,but what is taming politicians in advanced countries is the rule of law that is present to axe them if they go out of line. No respect of persons there as far as rule of law is concerned.

Guys some of my system keys weren't pressing and the CTRL key presses automatically. Also the cursor that highlights a particular folder on the pc matches multiple folders at a time even if I move away from the folder.

I connected an external keyboard and the problem still persisted. I've used windows defender, Malwarebytes premium to check the pc. Still no avail. I did a factory reset (without losing files) and the problem remained the same. I did a full reset (lost all my files) but still the problem persisted....what do I do please?

If you formatted your Pc and the problem persists,it means it's not software (Windows O.S) problem. It should be hardware problem. When you format or reinstall Windows,what you did was to wipe the entire windows files and any software files on your PC. After reinstallation,a new windows is in place. So any windows problem or software issues in the previous Windows installation will be gone.
But hardware issues cannot be solved with formatting or reinstallation,it needs physical repairs or replacement eg broken screen,bad speakers,bad keyboards,bad Usb ports,bad battery etc.
What's the solution? : I would have suggested it's software issue,but since you said you already formatted and it persists,go and change the keyboard of the laptop.

I bought Western Digital in 2012,I still have it now. It has never crashed before. External hard drives crash alot. The best brand is the one you can depend on that your data will be saved. I bought it in a shop in December 2012 ,500gb at N12k.
I have files on it I collected in 2013 during my NYSC. I have like 5 HDDs,and to me WD is the best.
