FamilyRe: Why Are Some Parents Like This? by Greatzeus(m): 6:32pm On Feb 08, 2020
nazablossom:
I'm a volunteer teacher in one of Government Primary School in Lagos. I have this boy admitted this session in my class. The boy has a broken arm (around the elbow). I believe that it was not handled well because it has this offensive odour and it's bringing out pus.
The arm also looks numb and inactive, he is not making use of it.
I asked the boy to call the mother because I wanted to know what she's doing about the boy's situation.

She came and started narrating her ordeal, how she's the only one taking care of the boy, that she's hawking, that she is looking for money to get the boy treated. She broke down completely while telling her story. I was touched by her predicament. I wanted to help but I'm not earning much. I even wanted to bring it here to solicit for help on their behalf but later changed my mind.

I met one lady that works with an NGO and narrated the boy's story to her, she promised to table his matter in their office.

This year, the lady came to our school and asked to see the boy. I called the boy for her, after seeing him, she promised to bring one of her superiors to our school. The next day, they came and met with our Headmistress. They also promised to help but will need the mother's consent. The boy was asked to inform the mother about it.

This Monday, the mother came,i thought that she came to give her consent only for her to tell me that she found a place to take the boy to, that she was told that her son's case is spiritual , that her pastor's wife directed her to the place bla bla bla.

Now, the boy hasn't been in school since then.

I don't know what to do again. I don't know how to convince the mother to let her son get proper treatment. I fear for the boy, the hand may be amputed in future if nothing is done about it. It really that bad.
It's poverty dear, poverty is bad. It's even worse when you are poor and unhealthy.I am always grateful to God when I look back, with everything I went through, sickness wasn't one of them. Infact God bless me with so much health. The last time I was at the hospital was more than 20 years ago and it was an injury from playing football when I was in Jss.

missimelda01:
There's a post currently on the front page about a man who cheated on his wife and infected her with STI, and to think some men are defending the husband is so disgusting. Please why does it have to be this way? I'm young and unmarried but what I see, read and hear these days makes it impossible to believe that there are decent and goldly men out there.
Nairaland is not even up to 2% of Nigeria's cyber space. There are over 100m internet users in Nigeria. Don't use Nairaland to validate the characters of men as cheats.
There are still men and women out there who don't cheat or never cheats on their spouses. Matter of fact, with the high rate of moral atrocities going on now,There are still people getting married as virgins, that's the truth. There will always be exceptions.

CrimeRe: HELP!!! Bet9ja Have Debited All My Account Balance. by Greatzeus(m): 8:48am On Feb 06, 2020
Mubarak1:
Good morning Nlanders. It was yesterday that my friend got a debit alert of N500 and after a while got another debit alert of 2k. He immediately told me, I asked of his card and it's in his possession so he immediately transfer all his account balance to my account.

I have and account with Bet9ja which I created like 5 months back but I never place any bet with the account. As I created d account I deposited 1k which get debited by then Bet9ja, so I sent them email and nothing was refunded to my account, I deposited another 1k and thesame fate happens which get me infuriated and I deleted the account.

So, after many months that I deleted the Bet9ja's account, after my friend sent me his account balance which add up to mine, I wake up today to a surprise of multiple debit alert by Bet9ja, I slept with 15k in my account and wake up to a surprise of N84.84. My ATM card is in my possession and I sleep alone with a very good security door. Pls help, how can I get my balance refunded?
Which friend? Stop complicating small issue, you are making the story more difficult to grab. There's no friend anywhere, you are a gambler and probably an addict. Come clean so that people can give you good advice. Injecting your fake friend story makes it complicated.
You created a bet9ja account but never used it? Yawns, keep deceiving yourself. When you are ready for solution,re write your story , take responsibility for your actions,so that we can advice as appropriate.
CrimeRe: How Can She Recover Her Stolen Fund From Fraudsters? by Greatzeus(m): 4:28pm On Feb 04, 2020
amtheone:
Please nairalanders, I need your help. Yesterday(3/2/20) my sister inlaw called to inform me that all the money in her account and that of her mum were all wiped out by fraudsters.

This was what happened, my mother inlaw who is a retired civil servant received a call from an unknown person asking her to give details of her ATM that there is an issue with her account and needed urgent attention. The caller pretended to be a staff of the bank. At that point, she gave the phone number of her daughter who is the one managing her account.

The guy then call her using the same format, she ignorantly gave him all the sensitive details that the criminal needed to execute his evil plan. Surprisingly, she did not only give out only her mum's details but she also gave out her own details. Within a few minutes, all the money in the two accounts were all wiped out.

I remember there was a thread on FP sometimes ago on how one could go about to recover his money under this circumstance. Pls any one with the link should help post it here and any other information that can be of help.

Note: She has reported the case to her bank, but from her bank's response, it seems nothing much can be done.

Mod pls help me move it to the home page.

Thank you.
I can't believe this, this trick is the oldest and most popular among scammers tricks. I understand if the old woman is ignorant, what about the daughter? You are not getting anything, tell them to kiss the money goodbye. I won't be surprised if the daughter is one of those shouting marlians up and down.
Naira Marley is a fraudster,he also openly glorifies Yahoo. All of you who supports him in anyway and those on Nairaland who always criticize EFCC when they go after Yahoo boys, this will be your date soon.
Yahoo yahoo is evil,if you support it,one day all your hard earned money will go to scammers IJN,amen.

Your product was made in Jan 2020,it will expire in July 2020,just after 6 months?
If a retailer buys 100 pcs,how can he sell the 100 in 6 months,a totally unknown brand when there are hundreds of such product in the market.
I can't buy or sell your products because I will be selling or using expired products.
Even the ones with you will get expired before you can sell all. I can bet it with you.
Let the producers get better raw materials that can last for 1 or 2 years before expiration.

Funny thread.

Nobody is afraid they would be the wrong spouse for their partner or/and unable to provide the right support.

Most peeps don't even know themselves and what is good for them.

Others mistake 'nice to have' as priority and lose sight of the important things.
That's humans for you, highly conceited. Imagine every one up fear marrying the wrong person, fear being cheated on or suffering domestic violence. But none of them thanks he or she could or might be the problem. This is why marriages don't work. We don't see our faults only that of our partners.
May God help us all.
RomanceRe: I Want An Hausa Girl As A Wife But Family Say No by Greatzeus(m): 4:36pm On Feb 02, 2020
Irijosa777:
Greetings Nairalander, I am from Delta State in my final year at the University of Benin. I have not been a in relationship and currently am not in a relationship but am planning of going into a relationship during my NYSC next year preferably an hausa girl.

My mom and family want me to marry from my tribe, but deep in my heart I want to marry an hausa girl, it started as a joke but is becoming real and the feeling is becoming so strong within me, I don't have any hausa friends, I have never be to the north before and I don't have any connections with them. The true is that if you ask me why I want to marry an hausa girl, I don't have any reason but falling in love with an hausa girl is already planted in my heart.
My plan was to do my NYSC in the North then get closer/study them and fine the love of my life there but my family won't agree to that, they are strongly against it specially when I said I don't mind if she is a Christian or a Muslim because I don't discriminate irrespective of ur tribe or religious.
Am i making a mistake? Have anybody experience any thing like that?
Is it mission impossible?
Please your advise/opinion is highly needed.
Thanks you!
Misplaced priority, you are in your final year, you don't even know when you will graduate (if you fall a compulsory course you will have extra year or years), you don't know when you will serve, after you did all this, you don't know where job will come from, you are here fantasizing about Hausa girls.
I am sure you think your case is different like millions have thought before you, serve, submit CVs,go for interviews, choose between many jobs undecided?
By the time you spend just a year without job, your brain will reset, instead of you to face your studies and acquire skills, you are fantasizing about irrelevant things.
Unless your father have a company where job is waiting for you,you will say' I told you so'.
You don't need any advice, the only thing you need is money. You can marry any woman from any where in Nigeria or the world. Get money first.
Tinubu has a Christian wife,Atiku has a Christian wife,Yoruba wife,even Igbo wife.

I've begun to notice a pattern with some fake story tellers on NL. It's either they are painting themselves as rich and influential, or extremely doting and kind.

To what end? To swindle people of money... to get solicitations from desperate girls on here? I honestly wonder. undecided
I have noticed it too. You are absolutely right. Even when it's not necessary to the tale they telling, they tell us certain things that paint them as rich, extraordinary gentle men and great givers.
Either the story is fake totally or Op added some hints to paint himself as the victim. Imagine a marriage of one month,Op still had to mention giving his wife 100k monthly, something he would have done just one, that's if it's true.

Nairalanders beware of fake stories. There's a guy on this forum who always create thread to Garner sympathy and seek for help. He also write in a way that will arose pity from his readers. Last time he made a post about living in an uncompleted building and posted a picture of a man holding sniper. Some sent him money, only to be busted as a serial Nairaland scammer and online begger.
His stories is always about being in a despicable financial situation, just like Op wrote up there. Be wise. The monikers are always new of course.
I'm not saying he is the Op,but I won't be surprised. I know the story up there is fake, but still don't know his intention.

Naija Politicians i hail oh angry
In America, political Affiliations are like being born into a tribe or race or clan, you dont change, its part of you. The Bushes have been Republicans before George Bush Jnr became President, 8 families in America(before Obama),have shared the White House Throne between them for hundreds of years, they all remained and became presidents within their respective political ideologies.
In America Blacks are democrats,naturally.
CultureRe: Removed by Greatzeus(m): 4:51pm On Jan 27, 2020
Derajoyce:
There are two types of deaths.

There’s the death that breaks something in you, and there’s the death that stirs transformation.
Although eruptive pain shows her battered head in every death; the death of breakage conceives a form of a fury pain that burns through the heart, leaving a permanent scar on the injured soul. It’s the type of death that leaves you at 3 am crying over someone who died ten years ago. It just never goes away; maybe it shouldn’t.
Everyone will feel. When you do, you’ll know it’s it.

Then there’s the death of transformation.
It hurts differently. It’s a more empathetic, in most cases, a sympathetic kind of pain.
It stirs you enough to feel the heat of demise yet, subtle enough to drag through the day without necessarily interference with your “real world.”
We’ve all felt this. Most people forget.
My first was Chioma. She exuded an aura of pure goodness. She was the type to keep a smile on your lips a few minutes longer the encounter you had with her. She was devoted to God, that’s how it seemed with the endless masses and benedictions. I should’ve told her I really liked her; it never crossed my mind.
Then she died.

My eyes clouded with burning tears, and that night, I sat with 2 am.
First, there was anger, then a sense of loss, then pity.
There was something else.
A distinct feeling of helplessness. The uncanny realization of man’s illusion of control.
However bewildered I felt, it faded after a week.
First times suck because there’s always a feeling of unfinished business.

Shola came next.
For 20 minutes after the rude shock of his death, my back remained stiffened. Stone cold, sunken fingertips, dry mouth and very white eyes. No tears.
It wasn’t emotional for me. Just stark shock, same as, a shock-fish looks in death.
He was the guy I used to know from work.

This is what I did know; he had solid goals. The type that accompanied vision boards and a strong inclination to positive thinking. He was a church fellow, in some way, most people are. He had found love, I heard he said, she completed him. There was going to be a wedding soon. He was also really good at his craft. He did the work to become a better person, a struggle mostly yet, the zeal was apparent.

That distinct feeling of helplessness returned, with two cousins.
I questioned the rationality of existence, not from the standpoint of anger against the creator but on the novelty of ordinariness.

It is strength of legs I trivialise; the sharpness of sight I torture with screen lights.
The hugs I always forget to give.
It is not pouring myself enough in the work I did, it becomes mundane.
It is the laziness in not pushing hard enough.
It is the ego of not knowing when to apologize or step back.
It’s those tiny moments I agree to burden my mind with worries from the past and anxiety over the future.
The disagreement I prefer to ignore than fix.
The friends I hardly check on.
The night sky I barely look at it. The hesitation to give something, anything.
The fear of being hurt, which still hurts either way.
The hoarding of things I never use. The erratic comparison with who reached where and when. Holding on for more money. Eating ice cream with the stupid fear of tighter jeans. The ceaseless complaining about the weather, or, the government. It’s never hot enough or cold enough. Hardly convenient enough.
It’s the list of goals; constructed intentions with deadlines, where if successfully executed, little chips of validation will be served. I agree those serve a purpose, I doubt it’s the purpose.
It’s every day I show up not being authentically myself.
People say Kobe Bryant lived a full life. A life worthy of emulation and full of inspiration. I say he showed up every day and made each day worth it.

The humbling effect of cluelessness over what tomorrow holds should free you.
Nothing’s ever that serious.
Are you sure you couldn't have passed your message in less than 5 sentences?
Well,it taught me that
1. My life is not really my own,I don't really have the power to keep it, unless I am deceiving myself.
2. Life is very uncertain. One minute you can be the happiest man alive, next minute tragedy can struck that will make you wish you are dead.
3. Life is vanity really, famous, successful, rich yet all these couldn't come to his aid when death came knocking.
4. Be humble, be good to people especially the less fortunate, believe in God.
