it's left for him to check and confirm for himself. most universities worldwide have changed their geography departments to things like environmental management, environmental science, geographic information system/geo Informaticsetc. even Nigerian universities now call it things like geography and planning or any other thing all in a bid to make the course marketable to potential students and employers. believe all na scam.

Nd dz is a complete disaster for Nigeria. Obviously all d post av seen so far was based out of ignorance. Now Geog and URP are two different things. Geog is wider dan urp. What is d future of d Nigeria environment and its resources if geog is scrapped out of d system. Most courses on environment if not all, climate change amg odas are built on the knowledge of geog or on d course geog. Now if she chooses geog(grads wit a good grade) and plans her career well..she has job opportunities from the United Nations, Oil companies, Teaching hospitals(medical geog), Research institutes wich includes universities, places lyk IITA,FRIN,NESREA, NOSDRA(if she does msc in GIS)..there r a lot wich i cant just list. And even tho i av seen geographers in d aviation industry, banks,airpots, Nimet, and dz country economy is flexible to any discipline.....all she needs its a good grade at least a 2:1. And she will have more opportunities dan URP. IN conclusion if neither course is her dream...she should go for Geography. Its far better dan URP if both are not r dream profession.

if you check online, you would realise most universities in Nigeria and abroad don't offer geography anymore. if he wants to work in environment, let him study exactly that thus,urp,civil engineering, landscape architecture, gis or any other aspect he is interested, geography is a Jack of all, master of none which is why it's not a professional course.urp is a far better option.

urban planning have demarcated the flood plains before allocating the land. flooding is not experienced there and the fertile flood plains used for vegetable farming year round.

the clear winner is urban and regional planning because it's a professional course especially if he ever ventures abroad to study and work, geography in Nigerian schools is a complete waste of time and money.even secondary schools are retrenching geography teachers as they stop the teaching of the subject.

erosion and flooding is not a problem at akpaka,i have worked there severally, the ground there is extremely rocky and strong all the way to nkwelle and nsugbe.

I think the purpose of this thread is to showcase the level of development made purely by private and individual initiative,without govt support.
This is common in igbo residential areas,they have a way of advancing their course without waiting for any govt purse.
What i see people commenting here is mostly borne out of envy and bigotry than commendation.

God bless you my dear,i will use myself as an example, i dropped out of day school in ss1 to aid my ailing father in his business,traveling by night buses to and from Lagos at the age of fourteen, continued by night school, went to the university and stayed back in the north for years after service to make use of the opportunities there with a few igbo colleagues while the others ran back to the south, calling us money mongers. l lived a glamourless and frugal life in order to save and invest and yet once i bought an empty of land with a multimillion side business,they started talking about igbo ritualists in hand with some efulefu igbos.the type of girls that goes for youth service and ends up pregnant for a married Hausa man.

Hello all the bosses in the house.
I just acquired 2 separate plots of land very close to each other.
One plot measures 35ft by 145ft while the other is the standard 50ft by 100ft.
The first one which measures 35ft at one side increases to measure 45ft at the other end. Not a perfect rectangle. But the length measures 145ft to compensate for the shortcomings of the breadth.
I wish to build my private residence on one of the plots and build flats for rent on the other. I am looking at the possibility of having twin 2 bedroom flats and a room and palour self contain which will be available for rent.
My own apartment will be a 3 bedroom flat by God's grace.
I need advise as to which plot I should use for my personal apartment and which should be for the rented flats.
Any advise also on how to make the best use of the long plot of land is welcomed. None of the plans I stated above is cast in stone. I am welcome to better plans and ideas from more experienced hands on this platform.

This is a right step in the right direction. It is a welcome development that the Fulani me are being talked to in order to solve the problem. Their people and their cattle were killed during the post election violence of the 2011 presidential election and this is the main reason for the recurring violence in the area and any attempt from the side of the government to talk to the fulanis and other ethnic groups is most welcomed.

What happened is that lands set aside by laws a grazing reserves were being used by people a farmlands. He just wanted to enforce the law. What is wrong in that? Compensation for those lands ha been paid in the past. Why all these killings?

el rufai a is a Fulani man who awarded Christian southern kaduna villages to Fulani herdsmen as grazing reserves, thus the Fulani have been attacking the villages non stop recently. southern kaduna problem has nothing to do with the Shiites. okorocha last week awarded over 1,150 hectares of land last week to Fulani herdsmen for cattle business. the land was acquired by the government for a different purpose. southern kaduna problems would soon resurface in imo state.
